Big Fry in Arun

Decided to pop in and get a portion of chips as had a 20min wait for the bus today, the place is immaculate and the chips were brilliant, definitely going to return to try a bigger meal in there in the future

Very busy fish and chip shop on a Friday evening but never the less the service was amazing, very efficient and the fish and chips were amazing and fresh tasting. Highly recommend

Price is high food is good hard to hear staff

Not the best as usually better as fish bit dry.

I felt I should write a review as there’s nothing on trip advisor up to date, the shop has recently had a refurb and looks very modern and clean, we in Angmering are very lucky to have this shop in our village square, i usually order Cod for our meal and can honestly say it is fabulous, perfectly cooked with a lovely crispy batter and a very good size, the chips are always perfectly cooked and a very good portion, the ordering process is and has always been very efficient with the very pleasant young staff, unless you order something unusual the wait for a order is never much longer than 10 minutes, to be honest I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else as the quality and quantity is the best, if you’ve tried the rest try the best I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

Lovely chippy, I had their cod n chips,twice, during our short break.Fresh and very tasty batter on the fish.The shop interior looks very clean.Fish and the chips,were not greasy,and the mushy peas,was served in an eco paper cup👏100% recommended

No hello or welcome as stepped foot inside shop Was very disappointing bland regular tasting fish and chips as just moved to the area was checking the local fish and chippy out as I went to order fish and chips staff were young and very rude and I was apulled bye the manner of her voice as I asked do you do batterd mars bars here with a pretty certain answer no I asked if I could go across the road and purchase a pack from co op across the road for them to be able to batter and that was also a no not sure if staff had long day /shift but was not nice to be spoken to like that over asking if they could batter a simple mars bar lazy rude staff disappointed

Cold waiting for your supper, but worth the wait

Been here a number of times, has always been good, but last Friday 23 November, big disappointment. Fish was very thin and not very large, the portion of mushy peas was a tiny eggcup sized pot. At least plenty of chips made up for the lack of fish(asked for large chips), still, was expecting better Also, understand they have limited space, but standing out in the cold while you wait your number, not so good.

Definitely the best fish + chips, anywhere. I have tride a quite a few . The cleanliness of the shop, the batter, is clear and batter is a nice clean golden colour, the chips are plentiful and tasty. I have not been paid to say this. I work with food, l just know, this establishment is the tops. The young girls at the front, are polite + friendly I will be back ASP 😊

Recently moved to area from London where we had plenty of choices for takeaway’s. However The Big Fry is one of the best fish & chips takeaway I have experienced. Have used them several times and each time fish is fresh and well cooked with good portions of chips. Staff are young, always pleasant and very efficient.

Best fish and chips in the area and they take credit cards.

Haddock was a good size. Chip portion for a large was on the small size. Taste food .

Great fish and chip shop. Good selection and quick service (even though it was cooked to order). Perfect chips and lovely firm cod in crispy batter.

Haddock was lovely but chips small and flabby. Service was very slow and I wasn't happy to wait outside in the rain. Probably won't bother again.

The Best fish and chip shop around Angmering and Littlehampton

Forgot part of my order, bit pricey and portions on the smaller side for thr price. No waiting area so had to wait outside. Staff were friendly and everything looked clean, probably wouldn't visit again

Very good fish and chips, get here early to avoid the queues! Well worth a visit. *** UPDATE *** four years later and this is still a brilliant chippy. They have also refitted, and staff are well trained and friendly. Would highly recommend!

Good fish and chips, haddock always good and cooked fresh for us. Mushy peas and curry sauce a nice addition. Visit whenever we are in the area with our little grandson. Been refitted and is still very good, another good meal. Busy on Friday evening but service surprisingly quick. Enjoyed our Meal.

Great fish and chips, come from Worthing town centre where l live,have tried a lot of places,but this is the top one for me,only go there now, excellent 👍

Nice chippy and does get busy. Only let down is; no point ringing your order through as when you get there 20 minutes later you are still put to the back of the queue and have to wait like you would do if you just ordered. Apart from that , nice chippy.

Genuinely the best chip shop locally especially after trying many of the others. Being fairly local to the coast you would expect good chips and this place certainly delivers! Although be warned, the secrets out as it does get busy.

Excellent fish and chips! Glad the fish was wrapped separately from chips as the batter grease tends to soak the chips. Shop is clean and modern.

Best Fish and Chips, so popular theres always a queue out of the door :) Yes you have to wait but thats not always a bad thing :)

Been here for many years, of course, the only one in Angmering but I would never go anywhere else.

Fantastic food, especially the curry sauce. The staff are friendly and waiting times are minimal. I highly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed.

I have visited here now on 3 occasions in the last few months, hoping it will improve, I switched from cod to haddock as it was cooked fresh, but still bad , fish was overcooked, I've seen more fish on 3 fish fingers, the potatoes used where tasteless, cold and as tough as the container they came in, you might want to consider closing the chip draw to keep them hot! I would ask if they are happy to keep sending it out, without trying it. On a plus, the premises are nice. Staff friendly, and a posh box. Such a shame. No more chances.

Just had the best takeaway from Big fry! Chips, savaloy and battered sausage were beyond perfect and also very well priced! Can't wait till out next takeaway night, Big Fry will be our first choice going forward!

Lovely staff and do a great burger for lunch but quite expensive! And no napkins so can end up a messy lunch.

I turned up ordered as a panic as my dinner went wrong, it took over 10 minutes to get 1 large portion of chips that came out under done and a small portion. Compared to other shops locally and at £3.20 i feel very hard done by. The service was slow in getting orders out and was literally stood outside not being able to hear order numbers properly. I won't be using them again as not happy with quality, quantity or price.

I can honestly say, without doubt, tonight was the best fish supper we’ve had in a very long time. Cod, Haddock we’re both moist, succulent and not too heavy on the batter which was super crisp. Chips were gorgeous. And served with a smile. What more could you want . Well done Big Fry 😀

I put in a timed order and when i arrived was put to the back of the queue and had to wait 20 minutes so pointless doing so,i got a broken up piece of Haddock and hardly enough chips to be a small portion,not the large i ordered.When i complained the girl couldn't care less!I I used to go there all the time but won't be returning. Doesn't even deserve 1 circle!!

Just reopened and a favouite chip shop of mine... But disappointed with the amount of chips and the lad couldn't even do the box up.. Almost cold when I got home...

Very nice indeed infact we were the last customer for the afternoon yet the chips were lovely and the sausage was delicious, we will definatly be going there again as it was our first time there.

Never any large cod or huss but food usually well cooked. However, went there today after a couple of years and the cod was very, very oily. All cooked fresh so maybe it wasn't left to drain for long. Chicken burger was very good. Chips were not oily.

Used to be my local and I still come back here for the best chips and chunky white cod in fresh batter.

Great quality, not greasy like some others, nice sized portions.

Looked forward to a fish n chips picnic and was really xisappinted in the fish with hard batter and yesterday's chips re heated. Wish we could have taken them back. The seagulls had a hard time trying to eat threw away. Never again.

Ordered a 1/4 cheese burger, chips and curry sauce; the chips were very good, right amount of salt. The curry sauce was definitely one of the better ones I've tried compared to other fish & chip places. The beef patty was a little on the dry side around the edges, the cheese was pretty pathetic, but overall tasted okay.

The cod was spot on! The chips were a little soft by the time I got them home. But overall wonderful. Would have had 5 stars of they did not forget my frankfurters. Maybe next time eh!

First time going to Big Fry and the quality of the fish and chips was great. Really tasty food and great how their Covid restrictions are upheld.

How on earth this establishment has scored nearly 5 Stars is beyond me. Today was the second time I’ve been there and am even more disappointed than my first. Firstly they don’t sell Large Cod and Chips. What chippy doesn’t sell Large Cod? So I just bought a couple of battered sausages and small portion of chips. It was the worst I’ve tasted. Chips were all dried out and the sausages had virtually no batter whatsoever. Really very disappointing. I will never go back, but instead go back to my favourite Fish and Chip shop in Beach Road, Littlehampton. If you fancy fish and chips, don’t bother with ‘Big Fry’. There are plenty of far superior fish and chip shops in the area. By the way, the staff could do with a talk about their attitude towards customers!!

If you want nice fish and chips then it's very good. But please don't order by phone as we did that at 5pm and was told that it would be ready by 5 20pm when we got there at 5 25pm but still had to wait till 5 55pm so no point of ordering over the phone but enjoy the fish and chips

Since the lockdown being eased the chips have somehow got better and better! Going back tonight for some chips for me and the kids. Wish there was some huss, that would make it perfect

we have collected fish and chips from here many times, they are just as good at lunch time as in the evenings. Always pre-order now to help with social distancing etc. Can normally get a park right outside. Well worth a visit, good fish & chips friendly staff and good size portions

The food is always cooked fresh and very tasty. The staff are very polite and knowledgeable about the different products that they sell. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants good tasty food that’s good value for money.

I occassionly have fish n chips or chili chicken burger. A regular chip shop yhat offers good fish n chips.

Best fish and chips in Angmering

We have tried take away fish and chips from all over the county, but we still come back to the Big Fry at Angmering, good quality fish, excellent chips, friendly service, what more do you want.

Really nice local fish and chip shop that do a good burger too.

As it’s local we have used them before a few times but never sure My wife recently treated me to fish and chips and quite frankly the chips cam out completely undercooked and I chucked them out , fish ok Sorry does not do it for me, and would love a rival in the village
