The best restaurants in North East

New system communicated on back of table menus states that customers are restricted to 90 minutes. My friend and I had a drink and sandwich/soup and after an hour were rudely asked by the proprietor to leave! Prior to this she had been rude and at the till was again abrupt and rude. My friend and I could not believe her attitude. The other staff are very pleasant. We all have bad days but there is absolutely no excuse for the way we were spoken to. Needless to say she will not receive our custom again.

Past in by when I wanted a snack for lunch. There was a small queue but quickly went. Three sausage rolls were ordered and all three of us said they weren’t great. They were cold and we got ones warmed up in the microwave because we wanted them hot. The tray bake selection however looked good, never tried it though.

I used to love coming here, but the quality of the food has declined. My husband's chicken katsu curry was very average with one very thinly sliced chicken breast, which was covered in a mountain of rice and topped with curry sauce. Very different from how it used to be and disappointing.

Came in today with my mam for a mother and daughter afternoon . We both had the the braised feather blade of beef it was to die for, possible one of the nicest meals we’ve had in a long time, followed by jam roly poly and custard. Portions were perfect too, compliments to the chef for flavours and presentation. Also the staff are lovely too, friendly, approachable and couldn’t do enough for us. We will be back .. thank you for a lovely dining experience at the Falcon xx

Fantastic food and great service. Visited on a Thursday evening, it was busy with good atmosphere. Complimentary bread and dips were brought to the table. Great menu at reasonable prices. Will definitely be back.

Just ordered delivery today the new pistachio Kunafa crepe with fresh banana, the taste is horrible, the combination of the ingredients tasted so weird, and the crepe is so rubbery, very hard to chew! We just can’t eat, you can take it away!

We thought we would try this place as its close to us & we heard that new owners had taken over. It was completely empty on arrival but we were really surprised as the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the sweet chilli chicken & chips & my partner hunters chicken & chips....mine was just right with tender chunks of chicken prepared in honey & the chips were home made & very nice. Hunters chicken the same. I think the reason it was empty was because its had some bad reviews under the previous owners & is suffering to get the custom back. Give it a try. The gentleman who served us was very polite so don't drive past....you'll not be disappointed.

Excellent food all 4 of us had a different meal all great. Great value, very busy but first class service. Will definitely be coming back.

I booked for 32 people and nobody was ever left without a drink! We went for a hen do and everyone said how much they enjoyed it and that they would come back. We all agreed it was brilliant value for money. The staff were very helpful. I couldn’t recommend it enough!!

We often visit Tynemouth but this was our first time at Dil & the Bear. Can highly recommend. We had to sit outside because we have a dog, but that's ok as it was a sunny day and we like sitting outside anyway if we can. The cafe is lovely inside. We had great coffee and cake. We will return to this cafe next time we are in Tynemouth.

Had a week in Hexham and ended up most nights earing here 😀! Nice service, always friendly and decent veggie options including a huge rice noodle dish (sometimes comes with egg so state if you want that or not when you order, menu says no egg..). Huge curry too and all good value here. I can't comment re take away but eating in was all good

Called in with family, I wanted a good burger, nee McDonald's, can't remember what I ordered, but my burger was stunning, juicy, the juices dripping onto my plate with every bite, really enjoyed and will return.
