Jolly Sailor in Redcar and Cleveland

This is an old established pub serving food. Busy on a Sunday and needed to book a table. Food was average, although plenty of it, although extra gravy was (I think) £1.50 for a small jug. Slightly let down by poor staff, with the exception of the lady with the plaster cast on her wrist. Generally too young and inexperienced. One didn't know the difference between a lager and an ale. And another was surly when asked why she had topped up a G & T full to the top of the glass with tonic, without first asking how much we required

Whilst on holiday in Saltburn by the Sea I found this pub on Trip Advisor. It was a fifteen minute drive into the country but well worth the effort. The atmosphere in the pub was excellent and very dog friendly. The food was excellent. My steak was first class and the huge bowl of chips were as good as any I’ve ever tasted. The staff were pleasant and helpful. This pub is well worth a visit.

Really great pub with lovely decor and friendly staff. I had the mac n cheese with bacon and my husband had lasagne both with garlic bread. Delicious and huge portions. Would definitely return.

Called in on way heading home as an off chance for Sunday Lunch have to say staff very friendly we had a table close to the door but I ask if we could move not a problem at all great value for money traditional sunday roast plenty veg served nothing frozen at all defo all home made even the yorkshires guess this explained why the car park was full how good it is defo worth a visit

Sunday lunch, family of 5 (plus a dog). Sat outside. All had Sunday roasts (Beef, Turkey and Lamb). Good size portions, well cooked meat and enough veg to feed 10! Not pretentious, like some other pubs in North Yorkshire, friendly staff and good value. Would recommend.

We drove past this pub a few times whilst on our travels during our break. The kids noticed the play area so we decided to go for a meal on our last night. The play area is lovely, secure, clean and we loved seeing the retro park- it took us down memory lane. The staff are lovely, inside the pub is nice too. The food was excellent!! Everything was home cooked and the portions are really generous. I had the lasagne & garlic bread, my husband had a pork Parma and both kids had a cheeseburger off the kids menu- all were lovely and enjoyed by all. We will definitely be back when we’re back in the area again. Thank you.

Visit the Jolly sailor on many occasions with my family and friends and have never had a bad experience. Staff are always friendly, happy and make the effort to talk to you. Never feel uncomfortable if I arrive before my friends and family. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Bar staff are amazing, fast and efficient with the drinks and waitress always on hand. Always friendly even when really busy. Nice touch when they remember what you drink.
