West Road Fish and Chips in Redcar and Cleveland

This is a really poor chippy it never open and when it is the fish is more burnt batter than fish would not recommend at all

The fish and fish cakes are amazing, the bread buns are beat so are the chips,the mushy peas need some work

We are self isolating and have not been out for months. It was a great treat to order fish and chips on line via the Just Eat app. Ordering was easy. The delivery was good, only 10 minutes late. The haddock was well cooked and the chips tasty. They were not that crispy, but they never are unless you can eat them immediately. I enjoyed my fish and chip supper and would order on line again

Just had fish and chips. The fish looked like it had been warmed up from lunchtime. Very dry so straight in bin.

When this place first opened it was amazing.. Now its just awful. Darren is the best fryer by far. I'll only go in now if he's in. Sorry guys but you need to up your game again.

On holiday and didn't expect too much as the area is rundown but this is far better than the one in our upmarket local! Excellent fish, freshly cooked. Chips not quite crispy on the outside otherwise it would be 5 stars. Great service

Have used this Fish & Chips shop about once a month over the last year. Consistent high quality fish & chips, good sized portions, good value and friendly service. Better opening hours that other similar shops. Would highly recommend.

I would give 5 stars but that is the ultimate rating and I believe there is always room for improvement. They do make a nice meal though... recommended.

I ordered 4 cod bites with regular chips and curry thinking it would be a small portion - omg it was massive! Cod cooked beautifully, chips were gorgeous and the curry sauce was the tastiest chippy curry I've ever had ! Definitely will be back x

Large portion of chips.... Yes please it was nice but I think I was getting towards the bottom of the pile of chips out of the fryer as a lot were smaller n harder

Really greasy chips...and battered burger yuk

Excellent friendly service from staff. We have visited a few times since opening and really enjoyed the food. They will prepare a lovely steamed fish with seasoning for gluten free requests, and all food is cooked fresh to order. Chips are a lovely consistency with no grease. Mushy peas are thick and home made, as they should be! It's often quite busy but their opening hours are extensive so it's easy to make sure you get something. When I gave them feedback that the mushy peas were too salty after one visit they didn't charge me for them the following time and explained that the member of staff who had prepared them is no longer there. I can confirm that they are delicious again! Costs are reasonable, with fish, chips and peas twice costing about £6-£7 each. Parking is easy up the side street where it's usually quiet.

1st time tried it and can't wait to go back. Me and mam got the large cod and my dad opted for the haddock. Fish was beautiful, know next time though just to maybe get regular cod, the chips and curry sauce were gorgeous, just how I like them, chunky with a bit of colour in them. Couldn't resist a portion of onion rings as well, definately add these to your order when you go. Main thing not greasy at all. Lovely welcoming staff and top notch fish and chips. Would highly recommend, delivery service is available as well

Nice hot fresh fish and chips. Fish covered in lovely batter well cooked and drained. I ordered a large cod but was disappointed with the thickness of the fish. I realise they have to fry all their cod I hope to get a thicker piece next time I order a large cod. 😊

Great fish n chips, very good, friendly service and what an attractive and clean takeaway, puts all the rest to shame.

Had to wait a while, however it was worth it, the fish was absolutely fantastic, the chips were good and the mushy peas were a bit stiff, but I would definitely go again, go try it
