Santini's in Sunderland

I had calamari followed by chicken with Diane sauce and rice. Both were fresh, hot and delicious. Emma is a star in my opinion. She runs the restaurant extremely well. I highly recommend a visit.

Amazingly tasty food. We shared the salmon/prawns and the Calamari. Both were absolutely beautiful. . The calamari was perfect, so soft and tender. The chicken with peppercorn sauce was tender and full of flavour. Service was quick and friendly

Meal was lovely but we were served a bottle of wine at a price of £18 only to see a £5.99 corner store price ticket on the bottle. This has totally put us off going back

Lovely meal and attentive staff. Starters and main meals were delicious, they took a long time to come out but the staff checked with the kitchen and it was worth the wait. Would recommend and will be going back again soon!

Without doubt one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in years, and no surprise that this restaurant has such a low ranking. Ordered 2 pizzas and 2 Prawn Gamberoni dishes for a family of 4 and waited quite some time. This is on a Tuesday evening during what appeared to be a quiet period for the business, with only 4 or 5 tables taken. When the food eventually arrived the kitchen had missed one of the prawn dishes but brought out the rice and vegetables to go with it. Waitress apologised and said the missing dish would only be a few minutes but said she’d take the rice away and make a fresh portion. 20 minutes later the prawns arrived, by which time the vegetables were stone cold, and the family meal was over (ruined) but to add insult to injury they served me the very same portion of rice which by that point had become a solid singular lump of rice that I was able to pick up with my hand like a piece of old carpet ! At no point did any owner, manager or chef come to the table to apologise or offer any sort of goodwill gesture. Shocking experience, very dated menu, zero atmosphere and a restaurant we will never return to.

Visited last Saturday the place was packed and disappointing that our order took ages - however when the food arrived it was spot on

My sister and I ate at Santini's on 22nd and 24th November and on both occasions the staff were very friendly, welcoming and professional - a credit to the organisation. We both had Chicken Stroganoff on the first visit and a Chicken Breast dish on the second. All meals portions were very generous, so much so that we were too full to order desserts but enjoyed nice coffees after our main courses. The food arrived hot and tastefully arranged. We used to visit this restaurant when visiting Seaburn and Whitburn before the first Covid lockdowns. The restaurant has been refurbished and looks very smart. We were pleased the quality of the food lived up to our expectations based on our previous experiences. It is in an ideal location overlooking the sea.

Ordered an Uber eats pizza selection tonight whilst staying at a hotel. Wish we hadn’t… we asked for the pizzas to be delivered between 1800-1830 hrs… we gave more than 2 hrs notice of order… we were due to go out at 8pm received notification at 1750 hrs it was being made and would be here by 18.20. That time came and went…i rang at 18.45 to be told by the manager they were busy with customers in the restaurant. Funny, but I thought I paid the same price. At 7.15pm I rang again to be told they had left. At 7.25 they rang to say they were leaving now… at 7.30 I was asked where I was as they were there… they had gone to the place next door! Eventually got our food at 19.37pm. It was Luke warm, chips cold and imo that food lacked seasoning and taste. …. To make matters worse I gave a pre tip for the pleasure of it all! Most of it went in the bin.

We had a lovely lunch here. The food was excellent, generous portions, and great service. Love the new decor too.

Beautiful place and food was fantastic 2 courses for £9.99, cant fault it, it was gorgeous. Helped by the 2 lovely young waitresses, who were very chatty and checked we had a lovely time. I have to say they were amazing and made a dinner much more enjoyable, sorry I didn't get their names but they were the only 2 in this afternoon. Well done on a great choice of staff. We will be back it was that good the girls made a full rainbow apper for us thanks ladies x

We paid over £50 for a takeaway thinking it would be quality food. Clearly we were wrong. The pizza was burnt The valdostana chicken dish was burnt and supposed to come with chips but came with nothing. The mushroom risotto was bland and disgusting. We were really disappointed. I tried to contact the restaurant through their website but they don’t seem to have one as you are linked into other accounts. 😢 Don’t waste your money.

Food was lovely, one of the waitresses (young one) very attentive, other one didn’t really talk to us much BUT the issue is they only sell beer by the bottle and everyone knows moretti out of a bottle is nowhere near as nice as draught… also wine wasn’t the best quality. I would go back for the food but drink pop rather than expensive yakky alcohol.

Booked a table with friends for an evening meal, quite often visited before during lockdown for takeaways but this is the first time since the refurb. The restaurant is lovely inside, spacious and tables nice distance apart also. New décor lovely and modern but with a retro Italian twist. All 3 of us were pleased with our meal choices, For starters I had prawn cocktail, huge portion of prawns, fresh and tasty, for main i had the mighty meaty pizza, some of which I had to take home which again was not an issue. Staff friendly and polite. Would recommend and re-visit,

Ordered through uber but fulfilled bye santinos! Garlic bread warm no cheese and dry! How ever paid for this! Pizza warm Skins warm Orderd extra garlic sauce this was missing Over all shocking Will not be ordering again or recommending and have the cheek to add service charge

5 of my family came here for my Nieces hen night. Just wanted a quiet place as she and my sister had come up from the south to visit family before her wedding. I have been here many times and always had excellent food and service. This waiter/manager hung around us quite a while. Kept wanting to but in to our conversation. Telling us stories. He was very rude to his other 2 staff who were only young and lovely. The young girl missed a water from our order. He clapped his hands to her and showed her up loudly about missing the water. He still kept lingering round our table when we were trying to talk. As my niece had a bride's veil on he turned around to her and said" So your pregnant before getting married. " This was not called for. Nobody should ever say that. My niece was so conscious of her body. She had lost 3 and half stone before this night for her wedding and was in a size 10 dress. This place will be so much better without this waiter/ manager. He had black hair and tall and was italian. Disgusting manner.

My 17 year old son worked in the restaurant for six hours as part of a trial. He did not receive any pay for this and worked flat out without a lunch break. They did not even have the decency to contact him afterwards. This is a disgraceful way to treat young people. I would be interested to know what health and safety thinks about this.

Came here Sunday 25th July 2021 as a walk-in for an unplanned lunch. The floor manager is a larger-than-life character who proved to be friendly and entertaining. We got a very pleasant welcome. Nice decor - cool and open. Lunch was a mushroom risotto for our veggie daughter and two penne dishes: Bosco for my wife and Piccante for me. We also ordered a tomato garlic bread as that's kind of our benchmark for measuring Italian restaurants. The food was quickly served and was delicious! Portions were really large - so much so, that we asked for takeaway cartons to take some of it home so we could enjoy it again! Would definitely go back.

Absolutely disgusting! The bottom of the pizza was about 3 inches thick of flower. The chicken Kiev was like a brick, near enough impossible to cut through. The chicken was vile and definitely not fresh. I then complained to the floor manager who was so rude he had no customer service skills at all. He began to argue once we expressed the problems with the food. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone the whole table left their full plate of food. I wouldn’t even give any of this food to my dog. Worse restaurant I’ve been to in my life.

We were looking forward to seeing friends and family who we hadn't seen for a long time. It was for my daughters oldies 'hen doo'. The waiter was so rude. He didn't stop talking and seemed oblivious to the fact we didn't really want a 10 minute conversation with him. In top of that he made a very rude amd insensitive comment to the bride to be which put a damper on the evening. So unfortunate as the food was lovely. But I would never go back again.

Been patrons of this place since early 2000s. I came here tonight as a family group, first visit since pre-lockdown. No contact details taken for Track and Trace (illegal?). After makeover, no longer feels cosy and relaxing like an Italian restaurant, but sparse and harsh like dining in Ikea. Food was a mixed bag. Bolognese was good, but clearly shop-bought pate and ravioli. One meal was visibly very burned and returned to kitchen, waiter claimed this is how it is meant to be. Alternative option was provided, which was very nice, but not what was wanted, and was provided after trying to fob off the group. Staff were polite, but maitre'd was brusque and condescending. The bill was a handwritten slip, not itemised, so we couldn't verify anything. Couldn't even provide a receipt. Generally, atmosphere was unwelcoming and we felt like an inconvenience to the head waiter. Sadly, after twenty years, will not go again.

Fantastic. Just had penne picante, came with a small salad, and small pot of Parmesan. Garlic bread with cheese was lush. Staff friendly and polite. Order was ready when I arrived to collect. Even have some left for later, portion size is large. Thanks

My husband, my daughter and me ordered a takeaway from here and it was shocking. I had seafood risotto...it was a dish of dry rice tasting like raw garlic and hardly and seafood in it. The garlic bread was thick and almost raw. The pizza was dry and doughy and my daughters spicy tomatoe pasta had some hard shell like pieces in it. Total waste of money and a disappointment.

We pre ordered a takeaway for collection over the telephone..we downloaded the menu..we ordered the lasagne and chips..it only cost £12 for two huge portions of lasagne and a portion of chips..it was ready when we arrived for collection..it was very well packed to keep it hot..and it was delicious..the staff were very nice, very polite and friendly..in difficult times this is well worth a try..well done

We are going to order for the fifth time a meal to be delivered on Sunday afternoon.Every meal to date has been superb including lamb shanks, beef fajitas and beautiful sirloin steaks.The ordering and delivery service is very efficient.These deliveries are one of the bonuses of the lockdown. Thank you to staff and chefs.

We have visited Santini's many times, however during lockdown have tried to support some of the smaller places around about us with them not being able to open. We have taken advantage of their excellent £5 click and collect menu with a whole host of delights. During lockdown we have used this service at least 3 times and each time have been very impressed. The service over the phone is always friendly and polite and nothing is an issue. The takeaway pasta meals come in a very well designed plastic container (which we are pleased to say we recycle for home cooking also) keeps the food fresh, we only live a 2 minute drive so it's ideal. The lasagne is absolutely delicious as well as the home cooked chips, and the calzone is not for the faint hearted, it is absolutely massive! Full of delicious filling and freshly made. The last time we ordered and I went to collect I had a slightly longer wait due an error with the chef making the wrong pizza, it wasn't ideal but mistakes happen, to my surprise they provided us with an additional free carton of chips and a litre bottle of diet coke for the inconvenience, I thought this was a very nice gesture. The portions cannot be faulted and the lasagne is for sure one of the nicest I have tasted. In total both times the order has come to £12 for 2 mains and a portion of chips, unbelievable prices! We will continue to use this service whilst available and of course once it is safe to do so and they are re-open we will be back for sure. Great customer service, excellent food and very generous prices!

Just had a takeaway from santinos wow the food was fantastic we had mussells arrabiatta for starter glad we shared this also got bread to go with it, we also got pollo pancetta with chips and a mighty meaty pizza,the portion sizes are massive and for happy hour prices we normally go to bellinis but this is above and beyond bellinis for taste service and value for money would definitely recommend

The happy hour states any pizza or pasta for £5...however when you are overcharged and query this apparently the offer is only valid with a starter (and does NOT include the majority of pizzas...)....BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR BILL!

We visited here for an evening meal . We received a very warm welcome. We had a delicious three course meal at a very reasonable price. The food was lovely and the service was outstanding , especially from Harriett. Can’t recommend this place enough. Can’t wait to co e again.

We had a lovely family meal here in Christmas Eve. We’ve been dining in Santini’s for years now and always liked it. This particular meal was lovely. The staff were very welcoming and polite even though they were clearly very busy that night.

Visited this evening with my friend, we arrived and the person asked if we had booked, we hadn’t so would understand being told they were too busy and find somewhere else but they had a table but it would be in the corner, that was no problem with us how bet it turned out to be the corner of doom where you are forgotten about. We ordered two wines and then ordered two mains, I ordered penne carbonara. The pasta arrived and it was tagliatelle, I was asked if I would like black pepper and cheese, I said yes and she left, I didn’t see her again. So I just ate the food as it was ok and only the wrong kind of pasta not the end of the world however the black pepper and cheese are the best bit.I left half of the pasta, and then began the wait of eternity for some kind of human contact from the waitresses (I know it was a busy time I completely understand) however we weren’t asked if our food was ok, if we wanted another drink or if we wanted desserts. We ended up shouting over to a waitress to get the bill where she walked off and started slamming stuff about got the bill, still no words uttered from her mouth. Ended up going to the bar to pay the bill and left.Please educate your staff on customer service you could have had a lot more money in your pockets which is surely the point of your business! Never again

My family have been going here for years, not anymore. Back in November my grandma had a chicken dish, she was up all through the night very poorly, vomiting etc. Following this, my grandma wrote a letter to inform them. The response she received was utterly appalling. Essentially accusing my grandma of lying etc. Disgusting. After being loyal customers for many years, this was extremely disappointing. We will not be returning.

Friday night last minute decided to go to Santini's. It was excellent, 3 courses for £10 and full sized portions! So full after our main course but we were given our deserts to takeaway. Excellent selection and we will definitely be going again soon.

A bit basic, but just what we needed - really friendly staff, good food, welcoming and relaxing. Beware - the arriba is really chilli hot!

This is the best Italian restaurant I have been to in years. Friendly staff, great service could do with a lick of paint. Will definitely go back next time In the area.

We revisited Santino’s last Thursday (1st August) more than a year after the last time we’d been.

We always enjoy a meal here, nice cosy little place with a lovely atmosphere. The food is always lovely and at a great price before 7pm. The staff are very good, very attentive, look forward to the next time.

Visited with family early evening. Foid chosen was tasty and well presented and ok for the price but an Italian restaurant it is not. Putting lasagne, pizza and a couple of pasta dishes on a menu does not give you the right to claim yourself as an Italian restaurant. Lacks menu variety and the cosy ambiance of what one would expect. Shame as could be so much more.

We ate here for the first time tonight and won’t be returning. The food was average at best and the service was very poor. The pizza that I ordered was supposed to have Parma ham but it just had regular, rather fatty ham instead. Our empty starter plates were left in front of us for ages even though the staff did not appear busy. They were only cleared when I asked them to. Very disappointing

Called in ad-hoc after a theatre show. The staff were very polite, attentive and accommodating and happy to help us. Good seating. The food was fantastic for all family. The mussels for starters were particularly fab. We were not rushed and the portions were huge which against the prices made this a value restaurant.

Visited Santinis for my sisters 30th Birthday.

Haven't been for a few years.used to be lovely but gone downhill. I had a disgusting lasagne splattered into a large pasta dish. Didn't eat it. Complained but only got well sold a few today and no complaints so no knowledge of good customer service just on the defensive. Wouldn't go back again service and food better at Morrisons cafe honestly.

We weren’t sure what to expect when we arrived, having mixed experiences with the other Italian restaurants in Seaburn. Santini’s is by far the best of them. The food was delicious, the portion sizes were more than enough, and the price was very reasonable (3 courses for £9.99).

Enjoyed dinner here tonight from their good price menu of either 3 courses for 10.99, with mains of pizza or pasta, or 11.99 with mains of chicken, salmon or king prawns. We all had starters which were huge & tasty, and lovely mains of salmon, king prawns, chicken dishes. All delicious and didn't have room for sweets, next time going to miss the starters and try the sweets. Great food and good service.

We used to eat here every year, every birthday... Over the last two year we have gone less and less as it has changed more and more. We went last night and won’t return. The food was not as tasteful as it has been in previous years. The service is more cafe than restaurant. In fact the whole feel is more cafe than restaurant. There is far too much lighten, no ambience. There are big overhead lights, wall lights, fairy lights and candles all at once. We left with a bad head, unsatisfied and sadly disappointed... The layout changes were bad enough over the years, now it is nothing as it was and has changed the entire feel. It makes me sad to write this and our family disappointed... Not all change is good.

We have visited previously and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere but this is the first time we have had a Sunday dinner, it won't be the last. There were several meats to choose from served with a variety of vegetables, all home cooked (no frozen roasties). Not often that you get quality and quantity. All of the staff were attentive and friendly. At £6.99 for the main course it was definitely value for money.

Had a family meal out tonight at the lovely situated Santinos. The four of us chose a round of soft drinks followed by starters of Potato skins x2, Garlic bread and Prawn cocktail. Our mains were Pollo kiev, Pollo Picante, Margerita Pizza, Lasagne and 3 sides of Chips. All of our meals came out prompt and hot, and tasted delicious. The staff are super friendly and very attentive. We well 100% be returning as we can’t fault the place :)

Just called into Santini's for a quick snack before heading off to the theatre and left wishing we'd been able to stay longer. `No exaggerating I had the best calzone I've ever had and would have enjoyed it even more if I hadn't been in such a rush. Great food at a great price - what more can I say?

Decided to eat out for tea tonight.

Had an evening in Seaburn and after reading a few reviews decided to try this restaurant. So glad we did, went early about 7pm, restaurant was quiet but got busy very quickly. Three different menu prices and we chose the 3 courses for £11.99. Fabulous, I had potato skins and Chicken cooked with cream, pancetta and leeks. Lovely fresh vegetables on the side. Hubbie had mushrooms, prawns and managed the waffle dessert. Great service, very attentive and a place we will definitely return to

After a nice stroll along the beach decided to have dinner /lunch here, the food was delicious (although my husbands meat was a little chewy) the coffee was nice and to top it off the milk was warmed and frothy (hate ice cold milk for coffee) the only down side was how long we waited to be asked for our order (on a different day we would have got up and left!! ) So pleased we didn't highly recommend

we pre booked a table for 4 for Christmas eve for 5pm. we were greeted and shown to our table by friendly staff. we sat for awhile and then they brought 1 menu between 4 of us which was odd, yes the restaurant was busy but surely you would have at least put two menus on the table. we ordered the meals. there was a special board which we chose the starters off. I must say the food was delicious, well presented and hot, we all enjoyed the food. There was plenty of choice on the menu and something to suit everyone.

Came here with friends for a meal at Christmas food was serviced promptly and tasted nice but I think some of the descriptions were abit miss leading. It was very noisy as well as there was a large party in and that made it hard to hear what the other people on our table were saying sometimes. The staff were friendly and the decor was fine loved all the fairy lights on the ceiling.

A faultless lunch for two, sadly the weather was not great but that was the only negative, service was excellent and the food delicious; we had polpette (spicy meatballs) and prawn cocktail as starters, carbonara and beef sizzler, and while the beef was perhaps a little pricey at £14 as a lunch item, it was delicious and well worth every penny; we really enjoyed our visit - we are not local but if we were we would be happy to be regular visitors!

We decided to try santinis for tea its quite a journey from home but we {three of us) thought we would have a look around the area. We unfortunately chose a bitterly cold day and when we got to santinis it was about 3.30 and the board outside said it opened at 4pm.so we walked up & down outside the restaurant. At 3.55 a face appeared at santinis window and a male held he's hand up telling us what we thought was 5 minutes to opening. At 4.15 we decided to call it a day and go elsewhere to eat!!!! There was no telephone number available to ring this took 3 days to get hold of anyone) I eventually got hold of the owner who was VERY RUDE and said he was not a hospital for patients or a service?????? Still don't understand him as I was trying to help by asking them to put correct times on all boards outside restaurant. and why did the person in the window NOT EXPLAIN the correct times. I hope no one else makes this mistake and because of their attitude we will not be going again!!!!!!

5 ate from a set menu, one autistic wanted plain, no sauces, no herbs- nothing was too much trouble. The food was beautifully presented and tasted great. The staff were friendly and allowed us to just relax despite it being busy. For six to eat 3 courses with 2 bottles of wine and 4 soft drinks was just over 120 pounds. A fantastic evening, will go again.

Very quiet. Very mediocre. Reasonable portions. Posturing staff. Very reasonable prices. I have tried this place twice now but would rather eat opposite.

Been a couple of times and have to say its a lovely place to eat, with great value for money. Staff are very friendly and always have a smile on their face.

Stopped here for a late lunch and we opted for three course for 14.99 special ordered our starters and a bottle of lager (half pint) and single vodka and diet coke starters arrived after 5 mins and were quite nice (black pudding with pepper sauce and tomato and mozzerela salad) we then ordered two more drinks (the same) for our main course the main course came meat feast pizza and a calzine pizza again quite nice food we couldn't finish the mains as we were full so opted to skip desserts and paid the bill which came to 52 pound so it cost 22 pound for two halves of lager and two single vodka and diet cokes!! rather in excusable in my opinion so by all means go the food is nice but check your drink price if your on a budget

This was one of our favourite Italian restaurants but our recent visit was so disappointing. I normally get the salmon risotto which is usually full of large pieces of salmon. This time there was barely any salmon apart from a few 'strips' which did not look appealing. Please bring this dish back to its former glory!

A return visit.The food and service were very good .seems apopular place for birthday celebrations.I particularly enjoyed my sea bass.Would not hesitate to go back for another evening meal.Good value for the money

Been here before and had great food for the price however we think it must have been taken over. The staff were friendly but the food was very poor indeed. Meat balls with spaghetti .3 very dry meat balls on a bed of equally dry slightly orange pasta. I have frankly never has anything as bland and dry ever. I ate some of the pasta but couldn't swallow the meat. My husband had what should have been a parmo. I suggest chef pops to Teesside! A parmo is not a thin bit of overcooked chicken swamped in melted cheese.. yuk. What a shame .

Visited at 5.30 on a Saturday and wasn't aware of the 3 course special for 9.99. Starters we had were garlic mushrooms, bruschetta and creamy mushrooms and all were good sized portions and really tasty. Mains included Mexicano pizza which was just right on the spicy front, chicken Kiev pizza which was also good as was the pasta. The chicken Kiev from the a la carte menu was literally the size of a small rabbit and was amazing. Desserts of banana splits and cheesecake were really good. All in all great value for money. Auntie and Uncle from Fleetwood are eating out food experts and they thought it was excellent - their recognition is equal to a 5 start Michelin rating.

We called here for our joint birthday meal, our decision based on good reviews online. Garlic bread starter - top marks. But the Sea Bass and Mussels - quite probably the best thing I have ever eaten!! Give it a shot - you will not be disappointed.

Have been to this restaurant multiple times and generally had a nice meal with good atmosphere and great service. This was not one of those times.

Had a lovley meal here with husband and friends. Small and friendly restaurant with nice atmosphere, staff were great and food is reasonably priced. Good choice of dishes with special board for daily specials.

Once again we visited Santinis and again it did not let us down,our food was high quality tasty and very more-ish. The staff were a delight and always wearing a smile.The offer on Bellini cocktails capped a very enjoyable eveving.Will return next time we visit.

I have been going here for several years, i even proposed to my partner here. its our favourite restaurant as the food is amazing and the happy hour menu is worth every penny and excellent value. We try to visit every other month as the staff and food are 10/10 every time. We take our 2 & half year old and the girls are lovely with him. Visiting tomorrow with family for my nana's birthday celebrations. Cant recommend enough, i dont usually write reviews but ive been going for years and Santinis deserves one!

We visited this lovely restaurant on the Friday night of the recent Airshow. We were running a little late and phoned ahead, the staff were very accommodating. Excellent meal, decent price, nice waiting staff, the only thing that it could have improved on would be a nice Tiramasu for dessert.

We visited here while up in the area for a meal with friends. Firstly the welcome was top notch. We ordered the food and a couple bottles of wine. The starters were excellent, we had an issue with the mussels on 1 of the orders(quite a few had not opened during cooking), we mentioned this to one of the staff and without any problems these were replaced with another portion. The main courses were superb ( 1 of our party said they thought it was better then a regular Italian restaurant that we go to when we are in London). The only let down for me was no tiramisu on the desserts menu!! But I still enjoyed the food...

We went to this place on Saturday night and got to say it was fantastic.the food was fantastic will definitely be back staff very friendly and nothing was a problem .We got 6 starters and 6 main courses and sweets and drinks for party of 6 and was really cheap.

We paid an impromptu visit here during the week and managed to stumble upon a 3 course deal for £9.99.

The staff were extremely friendly, especially Zara. She was so friendly and funny with our banter with us. She couldn't do enough for us. The food was fantastic and way too much for us. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting. You won't be disappointed.

The restaurant was full when we arrived but nevertheless we were welcomed and seated promptly. The service was incredible despite being busy the staff were friendly and helpful. Orders were taken promptly, and the wait for the food and drink to arrive was minimal.

The women of my family visit this restaurant for their birthdays every year! Their menu is fantastic! Their food better! Service even better than that! The portion sizes can leaving you feeling a tad full but the food is divine! Went here by chance and what a find!

We ate here twice and had wonderful meals each time. They have 2 3 course menus to choice from and on each lots of choice. The price of the meals was very good and the food was great. The waitresses were very nice and friendly and when we went the second time remembered us from a few nights earlier.

This was our firist visit and it won't be our last. We visited on a very busy night as the Sunderland Illuminations where on. We were given a very comfortable table for six. The staff are very accomadating and helpful with the menu. The service was prompt and the food was excellent on arrival.
