My goodness what a lovely place to stay . A well done to all the staff for their very hard work .. the managers for helping the staff .. shout out to breakfast server Tino .. in fact all the breakfast servers honestly I can say that it’s one of the nicest kindest places I’ve stayed in a very long time ( we travel loads ) bed comfy room spotless .. location perfectly placed next to the canal for good food and restaurants .. above and beyond lovely thank you guys ..

The service from Luke was exceptional. Very relaxed but also very helpful. The food was mostly very good, but the giant profiterole could use a little finesse. On the whole, an enjoyable evening to celebrate our first anniversary, thanks.

Lovely atmosphere, great starters, unique sorbets, and very welcoming staff (Iryna in particular). We booked last minute and they were very accommodating. If you are lucky with your seating, you also get a view of the Tyne.

We had a lovely time doing the dinner, bed and breakfast taste du vin menu. The sommelier, Luke, was lovely and very knowledgeable.

Great service from Adrianna! Excellent food and lovely wine in a relaxed dining room. Most diners retired to the bar after, which made for an excellent atmosphere even on a Wednesday night! Highly recommend!

My first time at Bistro Du Vin Newcastle was outstanding. The atmosphere was inviting as soon as we walked in. We enjoyed a bottle of house rosé, recommended and served by the lovely Adri. The food was superb— I began with the chicken pate and had the delicious beef bourguignon for my main course. The staff were all exceptionally polite and attentive. Special thanks to Adri, Adam, Rebecca, and Jennie for making us feel so welcome!

We stayed at Du Vin whilst on business in Newcastle. Lunch at the bar was far from great (service) but Luke saved the situation. He resolved the issue with great finesse. So we booked a dinner at the bistro. Perfectly cooked steaks, accompanied with Rioja, homemade apple tarte and 5* service by Luke made our stay very memorable. Thank you.

This was an excellent evening. We had the tasting menu, as part of our overnight stay. Very conscientious restaurant manager, Adam, who catered admirably for my gluten intolerance and adapted the food and wine pairings accordingly. We will certainly be back! Very knowledgable and informative -making our evening special.

The breakfast was first class, great choice. We found the service very attentive and helpful particularly Luke who the night before looked after us exceptionally well.

As always when I have business on the queyside there’s no other place I’d come for breakfast than the bistro at Hotel Du Vin. Adrianna was welcoming as always and tino was very attentive. Lovely Easter Sunday meal with the family. We were well looked after by Luke and Adrianna and the food was fantastic. I will be coming back soon!

Booked Sunday lunch for today before going into Newcastle for the theatre. Booked for 12 noon as needed an early lunch so thought it would be quite quick. Waited about 40 minutes for our roast chicken as we didn't want starters which is a long time. Another couple there also waited about 45 minutes for their food to arrive. Not even any bread provided whilst waiting. Food was ok but the Yorkshire puddings were really oily. Dessert was nice and so was the wine. However, overall feel it is not what it used to be.

We came recently for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. Lovely food, steak and porchetta were great and the crème brulé was the star as ever. The real standout though was Shaun's knowledge and assistance on wine pairing. He took the time to understand what wine we like and what food we were ordering, and helped us have the courage to try something new which didn't disappoint!

We went during Restaurant week. Now I thought restaurant week was an opportunity for restaurants to “show their wares” and try to get you to go back to try the à la carte menu. If this is the case, this restaurant has lost out as far as we’re concerned. The place is lovely. The ambience is lovely. The Restaurant is lovely. Unfortunately the food was very disappointing. We both ordered French onion soup. When it arrived (far too quickly) it was lukewarm. Alarm bells! We told the waiter and he took it away and brought it back, and to be fair it was hot and delicious. But this really does smack of the use of a microwave. French onion soup, I believe should be ladled from a pan and then have a crouton floating on the top of it with Gruyère sprinkled on the top. Not microwaved! I ordered a rump steak “best served pink” for my main with a supplement of £8. It wasn’t a rump steak it was a minute steak, approximately a centimetre thick, so there is no way it could have been served pink. It came with a peppercorn sauce which tasted very unpleasant and chips that were decidedly average. My wife had the salad Nicoise which she said was quite nice, We both had a carafe of white and a carafe of red respectively, and they were really nice. We really wanted this to be a good experience and to be able to come back because the ambience of the place place is so nice. Sadly we shan’t be returning.

Lovely afternoon tea following visit to the Victoria tunnel. Both events well worth the money. Tea items very nice. Only thing I would change would be to leave teapot/coffee pot on table instead if having to wait for staff to come around offering refills. Also I asked if the uneaten cakes could be boxed to bring home. I was given roll of tin foil to wrap myself! It would be nice if the staff could have done this. My wife and I dined at the Hotel du Vin Bistro with staying the evening in the hotel. It was a package deal with an evening meal and breakfast included in the price.

Well I can safely say I could not fault this place, staff where all so friendly and helpful went out of there way to do everything to make our stay enjoyable, and the food was outstanding loved the market stall table starter my whole family loved it. Main course of Sunday lunch was delicious. I will definitely return.

We returned after our last visit a few years ago and have got to say the standards have somewhat slipped.

Myself and my Wife visited the resturant inside Hotel du Vin for the Sunday dinner. Upon arrival we were informed of the Market Place buffet, which was very underwhelming as a lot of the food which was promised (sasuage rolls & scotch eggs) were unavaliable and we were left with the scraps, which was disappointing.

With a prime location and good reviews by word of mouth I was really looking forward to meeting up with friends for an overnight stay. On entry the hotel was everything I had imagined; nice decor, warm and comfy, friendly staff. We were really impressed with the room too with its roll top bath in the main room. That evening the meal in the resturant was good.

A really poor Sunday lunch. The quality of the beef was particularly poor.

I went for Sunday Lunch with family and friends for my birthday what a disappointment it was . Roast beef was very fatty undercooked I did ask for it to be well done vegables warm services very slow long wait in between courses. When I spoke to waitress about the meat being very fatty she said everyone had complained about it . It was the worst Sunday lunch I’ve ever had I spoke to restaurant manager on today and told him it had spoilt my birthday lunch today he is going to speak to his manager and get back to me .would not recommend.

i booked this restaurant for the wifes birthday, we had to get a short taxi ride here as it is a bit out of the way. we arrived at the hotel and asked reception where the restaurant was , we were pointed in the direction of it not shown it. we entered to be told our 8.30 table would was not ready as someone was till sitting in it. i had requested a window seat with it being the birthday of my wife, there were plenty of other seats in the restaurant so i do not know when i had booked it they did not reserve it. we were told to go to the bar to have a drink and they would come and get us.half an hour later the waiter came down the few stairs with a tray in his hand and told us our table was ready. he went back up the stairs still with an empty tray in his hand as i carried our drinks myself. we got in the restaurant and he just pointed to our table and said that's it, i walked over but my wife waited and another waiter escorted her over. we then waited another ten minutes for menus to arrive. i had specifically booked this restaurant because they had snails and steak tartar on the menu.

Could have done with an explanation that the soup and starters were in a different room as its not obvious nor explained.

Tenía muchas ganas de probar el almuerzo del domingo en el Hotel Du Vin y, lamentablemente, ambos nos quedamos muy decepcionados. Salimos a comer a muchos restaurantes locales regularmente y sentimos que conocemos una comida de buena calidad y valor.

Este es nuestro segundo almuerzo aquí esta vez con dos amigos. Todos tuvimos otro excelente almuerzo de tres platos con una copa de champán. El servicio fue atento y amable sin ser entrometido. La comida es sabrosa y todo recién preparado al momento. Las raciones son decentes y la comida está bien presentada. Sin duda volveremos aquí de nuevo para el almuerzo.

El personal era acogedor y amable. Habíamos pedido comida por adelantado y la mayoría de nosotros no recordamos lo que habíamos pedido, estuvo bien ya que la comida fue sacada por su nombre. Tomamos un taxi hasta el hotel específicamente como lo habíamos encontrado en línea, hacían el té de la tarde y el té crema y estaban en el centro de la ciudad, pero no podían encontrar un lugar relajado para tomar el té.

We went here for Sunday Lunch as it was a special occasion (59 years since we first met} the buffet was lovely so much choice, the main courses were such a disappointment, my husband explained due to a medical condition he could not eat highly seasoned food and was assured that the Steak & Ale pie was lightly seasoned, when his pie arrived it was in a huge enameled bowl on a plate on a doily my steak and chips were served at the same time we waited and waited for his vegetables but eventually had to ask a waiter where they were by now my dinner was cold, he tried his pie and it was so peppery he could not eat so all in all it was a disappointment. On the hole the staff were excellent such a shame about the main course.

Came here with my husband on Sunday 22/7 & really enjoyed it. You help yourself to the starters if you want any then order off menu for the rest we had fish & chips for mains I had the chocolate mousse for dessert both were beautiful. There was a bit of a wait during courses but it wouldn’t put me off as everything is fresh. Luke our server was was nice & friendly.

Perfect overnight stay in every way. Arriving at midnight to check in late everyone was lovely, getting me a drink and room quickly. Room was beautiful, clean with air con and comfy bed and had a wonderful sleep. Breakfast was the best I’ve had in an overnight package, the food was really very good and served outside on the terrace in the sun. Everything was seamless and the people made it a place I would recommend and return to without doubt.

Steak not cheap but good flavour, good wines, service top class, if staying in the hotel worth a visit.

We ate here last night, we usually go a few times a year and always receive good food and service. However, last night the staff were just outstanding. They were helpful and chatty, but not in the least intrusive. Paulo the sommelier gave us great advice on which wine to order. He wasn't in the least biased, but we did take the suggestion from his native Italy. :-)

My friend and I went for Afternoon tea today as a relief from revision. I can honestly say it's the nicest afternoon tea I've ever had. The main thing that stood out to me was the savoury selection, which was so much more interesting than finger sandwiches. The quiche and bruschetta were particularly nice. The sweet selection was not just visually very appealing, but also very tasty! A winner all round for us, would definitely recommend

Good business supper. Our waitron, Georgina was excellent, even managing to have a dessert made that was not on the menu. Food was excellent, but a bit slow in being served.

Two of us had our first lunch here and we were delighted with this Bistro. We ate from the Prix Fixte menu, and for a starter both of us had the smoked salmon with boiled egg, cornichons and red onion which was delicious. For mains we both had the mussels in a creamy garlic sauce with fries, the mussels were perfectly cooked. Complimentary bread and butter accompanied this too. For dessert we both opted for the Creme Brûlée this was also excellent. The portions were all generous, service was efficient and attentive without being intrusive. We have no hesitation in recommending this bistro to others eating out in this part of the city.

We booked absolutely last minute for a party of 4, this was handled professionally and without fuss.

Popped in - a different sort of place from the rest of the local area. Great wine selection, one one beer on hand pull but others in the fridge. Very comfortable and worth a look at the hotel.

Booked a private family meal for my mother's 60th birthday and what a night. From the initial booking to the settling of the bill we had a terrific experience. Our waiter Luke was hard working attentive and friendly. Nothing was a bother for Luke, he was very professional and made our night run very smoothly. The meal was superb and we all had such a terrific meal and would love to come back.

We came for a birthday celebration. It was a big evening for my mum. The food was, to be honest, terrible. The starters we did not eat, the soup tasted like burnt cheese and nothing else and the mains were just unpleasant and inedible. Smelt well past there best. However, moving on from that. The service we received from the restaurant manager was good enough to overcome the poor food, and we actually left laughing and still feeling like we had enjoyed ourselves. I didn’t catch the managers name, but he was extremely approachable when we first called him over about the starters and from then on we felt like he genuinely cared about our feedback and that we clearly had not enjoyed a mouthful. The drinks kept coming, and although offered complimentary desserts, we couldn’t face it. We might come back, if we hear of a new chef.

Excellent selection of food, 'French Market Garden' very tasty. Sunday lunch (beef) a bit disappointing, Cotes do Rhone we chose to go with the beef was delicious. Service was slow. Would return.

For my daughters birthday we wanted to go somewhere different and a bit special. The Hotel du Vin Bistro turned out to be an excellent choice.

Popped in with my wife and son, Friday lunch. A coffee in the lounge / reception first (£10) then a walk in lunch, no booking.

We visited for afternoon teas which had been booked in advance, the hotel was running a promotion £ 17 a head.

My partner & I had never been before so we took advantage of the restaurant week offer. The restaurant is lovely, great atmosphere. Staff (especially Luke) were really attentive, often coming over to check if we wanted anything. My partner ordered the French onion soup which was incredibly salty & the cheese smelt like burnt, wet dog. I ordered the calamari which was mostly very small, hard pierces of batter scattered on the plate. Steak was very thin but tasted nice & was cooked well.

My husband and I took a friend to the restaurant last week. The restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere and the décor very tasteful. Sadly the food wasn't up to the standard we expected. My husband ordered the Prawns to start but was told they had ran out of them. My friend and I had the Boeuf Bourginon as our main and we have had this dish a number of times in other restaurants and it has always been as expected. However, the meat was tough and very dry and in one piece. We had to ask for a steak knife in order to cut it and more sauce to help with the dryness of the meat. My friend ordered a glass of Pinot noir which she has had before, unfortunately the 'Hotel Du Vin' did not have it in stock and she was offered another Pinot Noir and was told it was very like the one she had ordered. We had ordered these drinks before the main course and we had to ask 3 times for them, so consequently, when they did eventually arrive, we had all finished our meals and we were hoping to enjoy a glass of wine with our food. The Pinot Noir my friend had was more like a Shiraz and did not enjoy it and therefore couldn't drink it. Sadly we were all very disappointed with our meal and service.

Back in September my friend and I had an early booking for Sunday lunch. We absolutely loved the concept of the 'market table'. I even regretted having my first soup course. The surroundings and staff were excellent, the main course and desert were good, but the warm breads, abundant shellfish and pickle fest!! Just up my street!! It became much busier as the afternoon progressed. Go early for a good run at that lovely room of delights!!

Can’t believe I ‘be just had a call from the Bistro cancelling my afternoon tea which I booked 2 months previous. The chap was very craggy when asked the exact reason for the cancellation saying it was due to “”unforeseen circumstances ””

Having been before and very impressed we decided to go for the "Xmas" group shebang. We had already chosen our food a couple of months previously from the Xmas menu at £30 a head. I had the soup which was beautiful but the bread that was supposed to be with it never appeared despite asking the waiter twice.

What a great place to have the company Christmas meal, excellent food and drink, enhanced by lovely Fentimans drinks and attentive staff, Chris R helped us made it even more enjoyable. Would happily repeat again and certaily recommend it. Merry Christmas to all at Hotel du Vin Bistro in Necastle.
