Amazing steak night on Thursday. The steak was cooked to perfection. Excellent value for money. Whether you are on holiday or travelling for business I would definitely recommend

Visited for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. The food was delicious and good quality. The dining room is spacious and comfortable. The service was excellent - a big shout out to Tessie who was friendly and attentive without being over the top. We will be back !!

Good food, but expensive. Steak was succulent and perfectly done. Sea bass was cooked just right. Fairly expensive at £130 for two (2 courses with a bottle of wine).

The bar staff Ryan and Lorna were amazing hosts. They made off-book cocktails and played cards on the bar until late. Great stay!

Such a beautiful afternoon tea to celebrate my Mam’s 60th. The service was really fantastic throughout, especially from Ollie (there was another gentleman who looked after us too, but we didn’t catch his name, he was brilliant too). All the staff were highly attentive. The views were beautiful, as the table we had overlooked the quayside. It had a very calm and relaxed vibe. The afternoon tea itself was delicious (they had a vegan version too which was amazing!). We all thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely return.

Great hotel, stayed in the Percival Suite which was lovely. Breakfast was amazing and so was the service by TIRSO, he has looked after us on other stays and we have never been disappointed.

Can’t thank the staff enough, they went above and beyond to make our stay a good one. From speaking with Dave a couple of weeks ago for help, to check in yesterday and then getting the chance to meet Dave this morning at check out. Last review it was a hotel back on top. How wrong Sunday Lunch a disaster who at head office decided to change roast chicken to roast chicken breast cardboard with a rainforest ontop. Please get a grip Sunday lunch not Sunday salad.

We stayed at the Malmaison the night before and the night of our wedding. We booked multiple rooms for the wedding party as well as two of the suites for myself, my husband, our bridesmaids and groomsmen to get ready in the morning. Absolutely cannot fault the team at The Mal, who really went above and beyond in making sure we all had everything we needed - no ask was too big! Coming back to our suite after our wedding to a chilled bottle of prosecco really was the icing on the cake too. Special shout out to Neil and the girls on reception who were all attentive, friendly and communicative.

Lovely one night stay. Hotel was immaculate, no problems, just a bit noisy in the morning (bottles bins being collected at 07:00 on the Saturday) noting our room was on the rear of the hotel, on the side furthest away from the River Tyne.

From the moment I arrived the Malmaison Team were fantastic. Sophie greeted me on arrival and her service was nothing but excellent. So, I'd had a great week and was looking for somewhere nice to eat this Wednesday evening and usually I dine with colleagues or friends, however this time was a solo dine. So, while walking down the front of the tyne near the tilt bridge I popped in to the something and piano for a glass of wine to mull over different steak houses near me and If you know the area, Mal Maison popped up as next door and relatively good so I finished the wine and headed over.. On Entry: Rather dark looking but never the less, clean and we'll presented and a two way staircase leading to a well manned bar and resturant opposite. The Restaurant: Clean and tidy, well dressed staff who asked if I had any allergies and if I had booked.. On this occasion I hadn't however I still got a table with a view through a large window. Glasses and cutlery clean and we'll presented. Now, unlike most people, I keep the menu's on the table and order as i go, I do this because the flavours of one particular dish may be better complimented with others and different drinks. Appertifs: Olives and bread, olive oil and balsamic where could anyone go wrong. It came to £8 for the both, but happy when large tasty olives turn up... A brilliant start to a brilliant evening. Starters: Calamari (salt and pepper) Very tasty, especially with the 2 side dressings/sauces and salad. Brilliant. Mains: Sirloin steak 250g Rare... Now to me this is very important... And bleu is satisfactory but anymore would have gone straight back, however.... It turned up bleu.. Not quite how I'd asked but I stayed fresh and with a open mind. Apart from the way it was cooked there was no flavour, no salt, pepper, oil or anything, it tasted like charcoal... I used a garlic sauce to mask it's flavour and I'm not a fan of using sauces to cover a steak at all. I left about a third, ate a few chips and let them take it away... Now this left a stink in my mouth... An unpleasant flavour which I washed away with my whisky. The Drinks: I'm a Malbec fan, South African is the choice. They have an extensive list which perused for some time, it ended up being a Rioja x 2 large glasses... Turns out the bottle from a shop is the price of one glass... I am a massive Scotch whisky drinker... There selection was rather few in comparison to what I had thought of an up market establishment.. The standards like Laphroaig 10, Highland park 12, Glen fiddich 12, Ardbeg 10.. Not much of a choice and the same as everyone else... I thought you would have identified some rather unusual ones with more about them. Good choice on the Tawny Port however.. ... On that note The Dessert: Always Savoury over Sweet and the told me of a cheese board but couldn't tell me what was on it.. 4 baby bells and a pack of Jacobs crackers would have been better.. OVERALL: Friendly welcoming atmosphere with average drinks and not so glamorous food.. With a taste I couldn't shake and the price it cost, I will definitely not be dining in this resturant again.

Stayed at the Malmaison for a week. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was nice but a limited menu. Chose something different for dinner every night, all absolutely spot on! The Scallops were the best dish I’ve ever tasted! The cheese board was delicious! The chocolate molten pudding was perfection! Definitely worth a visit!!

Lovely food in the restaurant and the service from the delightful and beautiful Sophie was first class. I would highly recommend staying in to eat at the hotel.

The service from Sophie was very warm, friendly and welcoming 😊 she brought beautiful cocktails up to our room and served us at breakfast. The cooked breakfast is one of the best in newcastle. There’s so much to choose from.

We stayed in Gateshead for a few days but our favourite restaurant was the Malmaison Newcastle Brasserie. On our first visit we were served by Amy and Ashling and cannot praise them enough. Amy fitted us in just as the kitchen was closing and we had a very enjoyable meal served by Ashling. We liked it so much we went back a few nights later and were lucky enough to be served by Amy and Ashling again. They both made the evening a real treat and they both have lovely personalities.and a credit to the business. The food was excellent by the way.
