An absolute gem of a restaurant. Food was delicious and there was an extensive wine list. I particularly liked the choice of very affordable wine flights which gave me the opportunity to sample different ones. They were all very good. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. I chose the French Quarter based on my previous enjoyable experience with a group of friends. On this occasion a friend and I were celebrating and we were looking forward to special food on a special occasion as the price dictates. However, I am sorry to say I was disappointed yesterday, Friday 12th October. We chose the fixed price lunch Menu which as an avid Francophile is often very good value in France and seemed to be the best value option. My starter had great flavour, prawns (x3) in a delicious sauce with nice tasting bread was enjoyable. The main course was presented as a salad with fondu style cheese, potatoes and ham. It was a rich dish, however, even taking this into consideration, it was a small portion with very little ham content and large off-putting lumps of potato, albeit with a tasty cheese sauce accompanied by a very averagely dressed green salad. It was the dessert which really fell flat in my opinion. Bearing in mind this course was priced at £10, yes, not 'a la Carte' but still pricey consisted of wafer thin shards of meringue, tasty strawberries topped with green foliage and minuscule dots of white chocolate which could barely be seen or tasted. This desert was dry and unappetising. The lovely glass of sparkling wine was good value as was the coffee. But, I'm sorry to say French Quarter, despite the warm, friendly welcoming staff, whoever oversees the food quality I have to say on this occasion it was poor value and lacked that certain 'je ne sais quoi'. I'm not usually the sort of person who complains either.

A nice little restaurant, under the arches of the main railway line into Newcastle Central Station. Not crowded, room between tables. The menu was a little difficult to navigate for a first-timer. However, the staff were efficient in explaining how it worked. I was with my daughter and her fiance. We had a mixed platter to start. A really nice selection and quite generous too. Mains, mussels, beautifully cooked, chips were superb! Advertised as moules mariniere, but were really ala creme. Nice though. Bouef bourginion was tasty. We ordered the bread basket, we needed to order a second one. Nice for a treat, too expensive (for me at least) to a regular haunt. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

In my opinion the best restaurant in Newcastle. The menu is so good you'll want to keep coming back just to try everything, the figs with goats cheese is almost addictively delicious. Pairing with the great food is a drinks menu that can satisfy any palate, if you like wine it's got a fantastic selection (as you'd expect from any self respecting French restaurant of course), if you like cocktails it's got you covered there with classics and contemporaries, if you like beer it's got options to go perfectly with the food. I really can't recommend this place enough and even though it's on the higher end price wise I've never felt like I didn't get good value.

I’ve been here a few time now and always leave feeling impressed by both the service and the food. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful whilst the food is cooked to perfection. The mixed charcuterie and cheese board is a great starter to any meal and the bavette is my favourite dish. Loads of great wine to try, too! And in a really quirky building with a great atmosphere. A difficult review this one. The food was actually lovely but the whole experience was spoiled by the guy who served us. Did the hard sell and then 75 minutes into the meal when we asked for a break before ordering dessert said he could 'give us 10 minutes' . I asked him to confirm that we had the table for another 45 minutes as I had been asked to agree on the email confirming our booking. He agreed this was the case with no apology and added 10% service charge to our bill without even pointing it out. I would not have paid it had I known. A lovely evening spoiled

I had been French quarter twice. The first time on lunch was quite nice. I found out don’t be too greedy other too much foods. Two starter and two main course share with my friend. The portion is small but it tastes nice. It just bought me back second time for my husband birthday. The lunch service is just so so. 20 to 30 £ each with drink. But it is very very good you found French food at Newcastle which is great. Because it was my husband birthday. We got recommendation from the waiter he did give us good choice. The French quarter portion a bit smaller then normal and also it was birthday. We were keep ordering a lots foods. Still did not feel full 🤤. £ 80each only one drink. I am sure if you enjoy wine then the foods match with it will be excellent and it is the style of this menu created for.😊

Our waiter was incredibly friendly and was able to offer recommendations when we asked for advice which was greatly appreciated. The food was so heavenly there was no time to capture pictures. Tapas style food didn't seem that appealing at first. However, it does mean that you do get to savour a number of dishes, this adds to the experience. The food was extremely tasty and well presented. Such a lovely place. Really gets the atmosphere right with cool interior and great service. The food is great and there's a good selection for vegetarians and vegans alike. Would prefer to have a "pronunciation guide" for the dish names as they are in french and it would save me a bit of red-faced butchering of the language (don't worry, there's a description of what you're eating in English). A very pleasant little taste of France in the North East of England. Immaculately kept, great use of space at ground floor and first floor levels of this arch. Seating arranged nicely, but not crammed in. Cheese and charcuterie boards consumed. Generous content for the price. Personally felt they padded the cheese board with too much Comte, but general quality levels were suitably high. Sausison with wild boar was a delight. Even the little details like a brilliant tang to the cornichons speaks to the quality of the place. Wine flights and specials both provided excellent value to try new and interesting things. The unique selling point is the sheer Frenchness of the place, with a vast amount of options for the wine and very knowledgeable, friendly staff, it's a winner if you like cheese and wine for sure.

What an amazing find, was recommended by word of mouth and thankfully I listened. Friendly welcome from Eleanor who is a credit to the business and very knowledgable and approachable. There was no pretentiousness which you often find in so called posh places, family run and you can tell the difference from a chain restaurant. Loved the idea of French tapas small plates and I have to say it was a taste sensation, tried escargot for the first time which made me feel like I was doing a taste test on I’m a celebrity. Wouldn’t normally contemplate eating snails but gave it a go. Glad I did, they were great just don’t think about what they are! Definitely be back and price wise was fairly reasonable for what we got.

Visited with colleagues for an early dinner. First time dining here. The restaurant is charming & the staff very friendly & helpful. For 4 we ordered 2 bottles of wine 2 portions of bread & 2 dishes each with one person also having pudding. I went for the moules mariniere & potato gratin. Potato Gratin was lovely the moules were nice. My constructive feedback would be size of the pot (although admittedly cute to look at) they came in made it difficult to access the sauce at the start - a shallower wider dish would have been preferable so I could get more sauce on each mussel and got the full taste more. Although it is a small plate restaurant both dishes were good sized portions and plenty particularly with the bread. All my colleagues enjoyed their food. Bread was freshly sliced & the garlic oil as well as the butter was a lovely alternative. Great wine list with lots of choice. Came to £39 each including 10% service charge. Would I visit again? Yes

It was my birthday on Sunday. A late Sunday lunch with family was such a good idea. Roast pork had sounded so appealing, especially considering that living alone nowadays means that traditional Sunday dinner no longer happens at home. Plus points: an amazing building, a warm welcome and most pleasant staff. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the meal was awful because of soggy crackling, hard and shrunken roast potatoes, one piece of carrot (!), cold greens and lukewarm watery gravy. And, I didn't like the block of stuffing, which, by the way, was also cold. In addition, we waited an hour for the main course to arrive. A disappointed customer.
