Excelente almuerzo en la semana del restaurante. Amelia la camarera era fantástica. nada era demasiado problema para ella con estar en tu cara.
Comida y servicio de primera clase
Great relaxed atmosphere, clean lovely setting and staff friendly and the food was absolutely gorgeous at a great price. Feels like we’ve found a hidden gem.
As a family we love Wheelbirks. It's a lovely place to visit especially in sunny weather though we rarely seem to manage that. (probably not their fault!)
Went this week and it was surprisingly quiet.
I had a sausage sandwich which was huge and very nice, my son had the pulled pork loaded fries which he found to be a bit too loaded with BBQ sauce so that every mouthful was just sauce flavoured. He only managed a few bites before it was too sickly for him.
Nice food but service was not the best, not given enough knives and forks for the table, we were given a pizza box to box away our own leftovers which I thought was a bit weird
Delicioso desayuno. El personal era muy amable y servicial. Fantástica selección de Mariscos en oferta. Tenemos mucha suerte de tener esto en Whitburn.
Five of us booked for a meal at 7 pm . Hugely disappointing, we have been going to Marcellos or over 35 years. Seated down stairs , waited ages for drinks order to be taken. Husbanded ordered draft pint of moretti, waited at least 35 minutes for it to be brought , after repeated requests and being told the keg was being changed. Eventually food orders were taken and as we ordered we are told there is no asparagus not thatwe asked for it and asked if we wanted extra spinach instead of asparagus , which we said yes to.
The food was fine . We asked for a dessert menu , left it with us while we decided what we wanted to order , decision made and waitress came back and said “ I’ll tell you what we haven’t got” which then reduced the dessert menu to about four items. I ordered pannacotta, a favourite of mine. Two others ordered flat white coffee to be told the coffee machine was broken . Pannacotta arrive a thin watery custard in a glass with some squirty cream and a couple of wafer rolls, it was so liquid it couldn’t stay on the spoon. Two of our party went to the toilets and came reporting that barely a dribble of water came out of the taps for handwashing and the hot air dryer was broken .
A waiter asked if everything had been ok and when I said no he wasn’t very happy in fact bordering on rude . My first comment was that we had paper napkins while every other table had linen napkins, his argument to that was they had been very busy and that the paper ones didn’t have to be washed, I pointed out every other table had linens not paper even all the empty tables around us. He then said that we were late in the day coming in ( we booked for 7 pm and arrived a few minutes before that) I takend about the wait for the beer, and the poor quality pannacotta .he didn’t seem to think that anything said was of import. By this time we had asked for the bill three times and it hadn’t arrived so we asked again. Bill arrived and when I went to pay he took off the price of the pannacotta. I was really disappointed, we were there to celebrate a birthday and I’d hoped for a good experience for our family. We won’t return which is sad because we have had many happy times there in the past.
Now called the Italian kitchen.......ordered a takeaway, 2 garlic mushrooms, 1 margarita pizza, 1 calazone pizza, 1 chips.......over £36 for a takeaway, calazone not much bigger than the size of a large hand, strangest taste of a pizza we have ever had, the ciabatta that the garlic mushrooms came with was on the bottom so that was very soggy, not our idea of nice food, staff were lovely.
Not quite sure where to start with this tbh...First visit after a recommendation from a friend. It was my birthday so myself and 3 friends booked here for our night out. We ordered off the Xmas menu. Prawn cocktails were mostly made up of rocket. No presentation and no little bread triangles. My friend had feta cheese with breadsticks that looked like chips.
Mains:
Two of us had turkey dinner. Again presentation was terrible. Black Yorkshire pudding and you couldn't make out what was on plate due to gravy overload (jug of gravy guys. Not everyone likes there food soaked)
My friend had the steak at £21 it came and looked like a beefburger with a pile of pale chips which she had asked for instead of mash n veg. They had done nothing to make it look decent. We had 2 little dishes of veg between 3 of us. We waited over an hour for dessert order after asking 3 times. Bill came after 4 times asking for it and was around £143 + as we had asked for intervidual bills at start of night and were told that bill would be fully itemised and we could work it out from there. Bill was half printed and even with touches on our phone it was hard to work out. We had been charged different prices for same drinks it was so confusing.
Areas that could be improved:
Food Presentation
Service
Bill process and overall customer service
This was probably our first and last visit
La limpieza era muy muy pobre y estropeó lo que por lo demás era una buena experiencia. Los baños estaban disfrazados, se lo mencioné al personal y no se hizo nada!
Booked afternoon Tea here and this is what we encountered...
Paper napkins
un-ironed table cloth
stains on wall
cobwebs
no explanation of what was on the tea trolley when it arrived
Tea bags (not fresh tea)
sugar sachets
bread was dry
scones not cooked through
corporate crockery (not china)
