Caffe Nero in Newcastle upon Tyne

Unfortunately it's too small. Invariably, you can't get a seat/ table, especially in term time. Great location in the summer break. Food Nero standard (it is a Nero after all). Staff great. They do the best they can.

A cafe. Located in a neighborhood residential area. There are a variety of outdoor and indoor seating areas. You order food inside. Some of the food, such as cakes and pastries, is served on the spot, and if there is something that requires heating or cooking, the food is served to your table. The food was very tasty and fresh.

Visited both Caffe Nero Jesmond and Newcastle in the last few weeks. Really enjoyed toasties and chocolate caramel slice. Service in both was very good as was the food and coffee 😁 x

This is an incredible place. Delicious coffee, food and great friendly service from a fabulous team, the staff are always friendly, and nothing is ever too much trouble. Big shout out to all the Nero Baristas and management. I am a regular at this wonderful cafe. Without fail the food, service and coffee are excellent. come here every day without fail. Lunch time sandwich and a coffee

Not impressed Needs a good Clean, and Make Over, with Dirty torn chairs, tables need replaced or a good clean, walls badly stained, Toilets are a disgrace, And staff need to be more welcoming, it’s extremely cold why they have the air conditioning blowing out cold air on cold days I can never understand you have to sit with coats on, maybe it’s so you don’t sit there long, as they now have a sigh you have to purchase drinks ever hour to sit there , Do understand this ruling as some people sit there all day on the internet and it is sometimes impossible to get a seat. But why they can’t improve the hole coffee shop I don’t understand, especially a chain coffee shop that should not allow there outlet to get in such a neglect state. Would not return will spent my money in a warm and friendly and clean coffee shop next time.

Service for coffees is fairly decent. They clearly don't have enough staff though, as there are very often, empty cups lying around. I don't blame the staff here, I'm guessing this is usually the case with these chains. Quite often tables (if there are ever any spare) are full of trays with empties. They've recently brought in signs which ensure if you are there more than an hour you are to buy another drink. The place is often FULL of students. I've popped my head in and walked away often because students are taking up all the tables with laptops etc. Disappointing. I will stress though that the manner of the staff is very good.

Mediocre coffee and the place still needs a good clean. Clearing the tables would help. Staff turnover seems high. The baristas always seem to be trainees.

I attended the Cafe Nero on Acorn Road on 22nd September 2023, the service was ok but something that needed to be heated up took quite a while. The table we sat on was wonky and it caused our drinks to spill a little bit, they could easily have fallen over completely, why do these places have tables like this, it spoils the experience of dining, we have to hold one side of the table down in order to eat our food and drink our drinks. I received an email asking how my experience was but when I click to reply it says 'something went wrong' and so wont let me leave a review. I would like to see a response from Cafe Nero.

Asked for a small cappuccino single shot I was told by staff that they don’t do them anymore. Strange as I bought one from them yesterday and there was a pile of small cups behind her. Cappuccino was made without any love, tasted like black coffee with a dash of milk. headache inducing. Would recommend Local just a little further down the road, Artisan style coffee with a smile and no attitude.

Inept staff who consistently prove themselves incapable of following simple instructions. Not once have I received an order from here without there being some sort of mistake or missing item. If you order an iced coffee, they'll send you a hot one. If you order a tomato and mozzarella panini, they'll send you tuna. I'd recommend going here in person rather than ordering online.

When visiting Newcastle. I always go there for a cup of coffee and a piece of cake, very nice.

Nice variety of seating inside and a large patio outside, great for people watching on the corner of Osborne Road and Acorn Road. Popular with students during term time.

Two years ago it was amazing but the manager left and it has really gone downhill. Really filthy, painfully slow service and written signs telling you to leave unless you buy one coffee every hour. Last Saturday they ran out of ice on hottest weekend of the year, and still hadn’t sorted it by the next day, pitiful!

Place is filthy - too busy and not enough staff to keep things clean. Only come here because of the Three rewards.

Please note - this has been my favourite go-to spot for coffee in Jesmond, until ... Saturday 29th April, 4pm, chilly afternoon. Self and two friends go in for coffee (in theory, the cafe is open until 7pm so no problem with timing.) A few hardy souls are sitting outdoors at tables in the forecourt but it's really too cold for that, so we go indoors. The place is quite full but not exactly busy as most tables are occupied by customers who've finished their drinks and settled down with lap-tops or phones, so they are making no demands on the staff. I find an empty table, friends join short queue at counter, where there are two people serving. They come back to me flustered and obviously put out, having been told we may purchase coffee but must drink it outside. This is so confusing that we try again (by this time I've abandoned our table, which has immediately been occupied by someone else hoping to sit/drink there, so I find another table and the queue is again joined.) Nope - we are NOT permitted to drink indoors, and even on asking why (should we have had to ask?) we're told it's because they're short staffed. We have no alternative except to shuffle out (as do the couple who came in after us) thoroughly confused and embarrassed, watched by those privileged customers who HAVE been allowed to sit in. What on earth was going on? You don't offer table service, so why was it too much trouble to sell a coffee to a customer who would drink it indoors (where there was clearly room) than to sell same coffee to someone who would drink it in the forecourt? It wasn't even a matter of staff being needed to clear tables, as a small hand-chalked blackboard did announce that all drinks would be served in disposable take-out mugs, a gesture that presumably saved on the staff time needed to collect and clean china ones, though hardly in accordance with any eco-friendly policy concerning single-use packaging. We would have put up (albeit with some annoyance) with this unheralded change of policy and practice, but were not prepared to sit out in the cold. At the VERY least there should have been clear signage at the door to say "Wanna come in and drink coffee? Don't bother, you CAN'T". That at least would have saved us, and the customers who came in after us, from the embarrassment of being visibly unwelcome in an environment where there was room for us and we might reasonably have had every expectation of utilising the exact service the place is set up to provide, as others were clearly doing. The staff seemed embarrassed when they should have been instantly forthcoming, telling us as soon as we set foot inside the door that our custom wasn't wanted and telling us exactly why. Though your policy here would have remained opaque to any regular user, at least the experience wouldn't have ruined our afternoon.

Nero is Nero but this one in particular has extraordinary staff, they are friendly and despite the huge demand at peak times they deal with it always with a smile. Keep the hard work ☺️

It would be perfect if it was not filled with students banging on laptops keyboards. The front hall is normally fine, but the last empty table was taken by a single gentleman, so I had to go to their back room, where I found 4 individuals with tense faces all typing something at their respective tables. There was an empty table so I took it, but it was just miserable. I wish I took my coffee out 🙄

In Newcastle for granddaughter 21 first birthday. Sat out side enough room for everyone. service was good and fast if up in Newcastle again would definitely go back .

It's a great place but really needs a good clean up inside and out. Cigarette butts all around outside, and discarded stirrers and cups, tables need cleaning. Also downstairs toilet dirty and hand dryer really needs changing. Staff are friendly and location is great, particularly when sunny but needs a cleanliness overhaul..

We have used this cafe for years and love it, there has been a great team working in Jesmond but the last few weeks high turnover of staff, lovely managers gone. Trainee baristas and while being very nice are not just up to standard. Coffee very poor which is a shame am sure they will get there but need someone in charge two trainees on their own yesterday and they need guidance please get it sorted

Most of the time you won’t find a table. Real closing time doesn’t match the one on google they actually close earlier. Also my coffee was made by someone who seems to be training, it was very bad. I’m paying to get a good coffee not to be your guinea pig.

Arrived in Jesmond about 1130 looking for brunch. Most restaurants don't open until 12, so many were delighted to tell us this and turn away 4 paying customers! Caffe Nero was open, so we spent £40 there instead. Top tip to other restaurants, don't expect me to pay your furlough money in future! Standard Caffe Nero in terms of menu. Had some toasties, coffees and soup. Filled us up and fortified us for a walk around Jesmond Dene. Card payments accepted.

Caffè Nero is a very nice café, with lots of seating a a wide variety of food on offer. It's perfect for any meal of the day; whether it's just a snack or a whole meal. All in all, I would definitely recommend that you visit if you are passing by!

The male barista on duty this afternoon had a sharp & slightly aggressive attitude and, to make matters worse, failed to wear a Covid mask at any time, either behind the counter or when walking through the inside of the building. Yet notices were clearly displayed requiring customers to cover their faces. Sadly, in future, his presence in the Caffe will cause me to avoid the Osbourne Road branch.

Always Nero no other coffee compares. Staff are great except for the older gent who’s a bit rude but the place is great and the coffee and snacks are good too.

One of my favourite coffee shops. Lovely authentic cappuccinos and I particularly like the savoury parcels too! A real authentic taste of Italy just on our doorstep.

A chain coffee shop and their prices are comparable to their competition but this branch has amazing staff; super friendly and super helpful. 😊 Decent coffee and tasty food options in comfortable surroundings; there's outdoor seating so you can enjoy your beverage and watch the people on Osbourne Rd.

Cheerful and friendly service from Nero staff working hard, as always. We were lucky enough to get a seat indoors as it was chilly outside and we were with an older person. I do think people take the piss and hog seats with one coffee for hours. The staff can’t help this though. Toilets Ok and choice of snacks and cakes good.

A very nice place to relax and drink coffee, eat a snack or a panini. The staff are friendly and often overworked. The could do worse than employ a full time cleaner. Great location. 2 thumbs up!

Coffee - gets the thumbs up Carrot cake - gets a double thumbs up Outside seating is plentiful ....need to keep a close eye on the outside bin as it was overflowing and right next to our table - and it’s not a socially distanced bin, as people have to be in close proximity to use it.

Good customer service and clear instructions on social distancing, sanitising etc. I had a most delicious mozzarella and tomato panini plus Earl Grey tea so it was a lovely experience.

Dog friendly outdoor covered seating area. Great service today from the staff at Caffè Nero Jesmond. Great food and coffee at bargain prices when bought under the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. A lovely calm part of Newcastle to escape the busy city centre.

Sometimes service is a little slow, but worth the wait, the coffee shop has a superb atmosphere frequented by students and the elderly, a nice comfortable atmosphere, they do their best to keep it clean and tidy, and make patrons feel welcome

Large Cafe Nero with the usual great service of sandwiches, cakes, and hot drinks. There is plenty of outside seating with sun shades providing shelter. On a sunny day, this is the place to be. There is usually at least one dog and its owner if not more sitting outside as they take a break before walking through Jesmond dene. The location of the cafe on the corner of Acorn road and Osborne road is perfect for watching the world go by. Very relaxed.
