Decent Bar near the cradlewell bypass. Fairly friendly bar staff and a decent pint, although the prices are quite expensive for the drinks provided. The pub isn't the biggest of venue but provides a decent view of an old bar from the 80s, which is a rarity in these modern times, although it can appear outdated during quiet hours.

This place is massively underated. The punch bowl serve birria Bella and it was better than I could have expected. I ordered the birria beef taco and the shrimp taco which were both incredible. Personally I preferred the shrimp but would recommend both. Others ordered the beef quesadilla which was a very generous portion for the price. Pork belly bites were unreal too. Can’t fault the food, margs were great as well. Shame there isn’t more outdoor seating though. tacos were gluten free aswell!

Ale is great. On the slightly more expensive side for lager and ale.

Nice busy student type pub with lots of space to sit. Can get very busy during term time but was quiet enough close to Xmas to get a decent table and seats. Usual beers at a reasonable price. Handy place to meet up.

After a long walk at Jesmond dene, we called into the pub for the first time, and it won't be the last !!! what a lovely place . The food was great. We had the burgers , It is dog and child friendly water and treats for my 4-legged child and bored games books and even a game of cards for us . Would definitely recommend

Greeted by friendly staff, a bit quiet even for a Sunday afternoon. We dropped in for a couple of quick Half's of beer, however Half's are unavailable, as the beer measures go up in thirds only, anyway, the bitter was in good condition and tasted great. On my visits here over the last few years I have never really been able to locate a display of draught cask beer prices, wines & food prices, yes but where on earth are the beer prices, had me puzzled for years. 🤔

Said was last orders Then served about 20 people straight after??? People were petting my dogs and asking why she would not serve me ? A very nice kind and reasonable gentleman pissed her off by buying ME a drink lol The other member of staff said “I’ll ask “ but didn’t come back ? May I ask for what reason your staff refused me whilst serving 20+ people, your whole bar was was like “Why they won’t serve you?” Ur dogs are lush Yet when that kind reasonable man bought me a pint , she said nothing! Didn’t take it away from me ? So why didn’t she serve me ? I was polite and respectful! I’ll come in and talk to you dave, no problem! Cos that is unacceptable, to the point where a customer buys me a drink cos that blonde girl refused to serve me ! Cos whatever , then served 20-30+ even more drinks? So customers were even asking why she not serve you ? She serve all of us ? Dated 10/9/23 Updated 11/9/23 Sorry if the review rages you, but it’s what happened! And witnesses seen it! I’m disappointed no cctv or investigations have been made before you just barred me! Hopefully ur staff will check and see ? I and %75 of the pub couldn’t understand why I was refused service whilst they were being served ? People were even saying “Just come n sit with us”? Look into it or reply instead of just banning me for one member of staff being unnecessarily rude! And me reviewing it ? I came in this pub the day it opened! I’d hope to think I don’t have to leave this review the way it is….

Decent array of cask pulls, tho the beers currently on seldom presents a lot of choice (tends to be beers as dark as the crowd you'd find at a folk music festival). Service tends to the unhurried and a little chaotic.

The best pub in Jesmond. A fantastic selection of beer and wines and the food is always amazing. If you want a pub that has a great atmosphere, beers, wine and doggies, then this is your pub.

Very disappointing visit, its tatty and tired and very over priced.

Driven past this pub always thought it looked homely, tried it would never go back, bottle of wine £27.50, it was scruffy and loud and the outside area to sit in wasn't the best.

Our local (one of!) Great pub, super friendly staff and great range of good quality neck oil. Quiz night is great and plenty of games/books to spend some sesh time :)

On Sunday, I received terrible service from a female food runner! Being short staffed isn't an excuse for below average service. It is bad practice for staff to not acknowledge customers when they deliver food, offer condiments, or say, "enjoy your meal.. Their inability to provide basic customer service has discourage us from returning.

It is a nice place to hang out and play free board games. They have a variety of board games available. The washrooms are actual Japanese toilets that talk to you. They have a good menu for food as well. A must try!

Not normally one for posting bang average reviews but I was disappointed on my last visit. Couple of standard drinks were not on. And its getting unaffordable to drink here. Approaching 7 quid for a pint, give owa.

Awful service accusing my friend of being confrontational after asking why we hadn't been told they don't have skinny lattes after asking several times and waiting 20 mins only to get cold lattes. Then after my 73 year old friend who had paid for the lattes asked for either an equivalent of a skinny latte or she would like her money back she was called aggressive! The place was not busy and this was the manager with zero customer service skills. Also they do not take cash what is that all about? Absolutely ridiculous. To call customers confrontational and aggressive for asking a bloody question was unbelievable. Don't even go to the toilet.

Lovely atmosphere and food, there's a QR code on thr menu that takes you to a wider menu so imagine my disappointment to be told they only do the paper money. Remove the QR code to not waste customers time would get me to 5 stars

Nice environment, very friendly and cosy. Went on Sunday for Pub Quiz. Food was delicious and a good range of beers and drinks but we found the Pub Quiz lacked sparkle! It was slow and lacked excitement.

A great place for all ages,but ladies beware of the Japanese WC,as my daughter found out too late,she doesn't speak Japanese and pressed the wrong button 🤣lower region's soaked!!

Expensive, odd tasting drink and a very suspicious manager, the bar maid really was the only positive and it's sad because years ago it was the place to be, now it's the place you really do not want to set foot in.

This place has one of the best and most interesting selections of wine in Newcastle. Food is good too. Nice pie, brilliant chips but personally I'd prefer a few actual peas rather than a smear across the plate. Hardly one of your 5 a day.

Lovely and welcoming but veg burger and chips at lunchtime wasn't great due to old refried chips that were going a bit grey. I'll be back though and hoping this was a rare occasion. Edit: You get 5 stars for such an honest and funny response!

Very disappointed today. The opening hours have changed and they don't open until 5 on Monday to Wednesday, we usually look in on Tuesday and Wednesday. Usually our favourite pub to visit. 😢

Lovely pub with great beer however the wine was unpleasant and barely drinkable. When this was pointed out to the bar staff the complaint was very badly handled. Sadly we are unlikely to return.
