Epic experience, right next to my work as well. Love the food and the staff are very friendly and kind

The place was fairly empty and we were shown to a table for 2 people which was surrounded by other small tables with no room. We asked for a better table. Good start. Ordered on the app and the food came fairly quickly although was not super hot. My wrap was missing the perinaise sauce. I didn´t make a huge fuss, but I wanted my perinaise. So I wandered on down to the manager and said the perinaise was missing and no big deal could I just have some in a little pot and I would put it on myself. Well. I was told I was wrong and it did not show that on the screen it just showed plain. I said well that is odd, went and got my phone and literally had to SHOW the email confirmation which said no chilli jam and no lettuce. The imitator wrap has options to customise of jam, perinaise, and lettuce. It was their fault. And they made me prove my order. Even indicating on their screen (which was too far away for me to see) to try to say I was wrong. Humiliating. Please do not do this. Just because someone takes two things out, doesn't mean they don't want the third . And let's be honest, it is just some perinaise. No apology or anything when I proved I was right. I will not return and my advice to others is to make sure you have your confirmation email with you at this restaurant!

Good experience, but food was a little cold.

Visited a few weeks ago and one the staff members was honestly the rudest waiter I've ever met, bigger blonde woman very confrontational to both me and my friend that came in separately to me so I know it wasn't a one of situation everyone else was nice though. The way the seating is arranged is that you are sat really really close to strangers compared to other nandos so it's not possible to have any sort of private conversation because no matter what everyone around you can hear you crystal clear without effort due to the fact the seats and tables are very close to each other without separation. Would not recommend.

Food was what you expect from a Nandos, the restaurant was very clean and there was a decent amount of people in so the atmosphere was good.

I made my order online and I ordered 2 dips but the women at the till only gave me one. When I went to show her that I ordered two she refused to look at my phone where it had my order and backed away. She said there was nothing she could do about it without checking anything and to not cause a scene I sat down. It was a Friday morning and the first outing of 2024. I was disappointed because nandos is known for its sauces but I wanted to try to the dip for the first time. Other than that the food was delicious and those who brought it over were very kind. The area was a nice place to eat too.

We didn’t have the best experience here! The only thing that was good here was the staff they were pretty friendly however the food is shocking! For being a chicken specialist the chicken should be a whole lot better here , Our food came very quick after ordering which made us question if it had even been cooked , The food was quite cold we chose the chicken wings roulette and the sharing platter of boneless thighs and butterfly chicken we asked for extra hot but none of it was extra hot it was quite bland the only thing that was nice was the peri salted chips , The chicken wings were a joke full of black bits and what just seemed like poor quality chicken and one of the wings wasn’t done properly , The boneless thighs weren’t the nicest either again felt like poor quality chicken and tasted a lot like charcoal most of the time , The butterfly chicken was okay but didn’t have a lot of flavour when it was meant to have extra hot sauce on it , It was quite an expensive bill just to have poor chicken . It’s definitely not worth the price better off cooking at home.

The food is very tasteful, mainly offered chicken dishes with a large variety of sauces. It is a self-ordering system, so the customer order and pay first via App, then the food is delivered in the table without being necessary to order directly to a waitress. It is a very quick service and certainly worths the price.

Food was pretty decent, however a member of staff was really rude towards us and other members of staff. To make matters worse, I am pretty sure he was the manager. He was rude to us whilst I was ordering my food and I heard him speak to another server in a derogatory and rude tone. Really disappointing to see - definitely unacceptable behaviour towards customers.

Chips were excellent. Good view from the toilets.

Absolutely miserable. QR code ordering is a ridiculous practice. Endless sodas were weak like they were out of syrup. Food came out sporadically, and the meals were scrimpy. The pitta had hardly any chicken in it and was pretty darn flavorless. 35£ for a kids meal and an adult meal and three drinks. Way over priced for what it was.

When you find a caterpillar in your brocolli it sort of puts you off the whole meal My husbands butterfly chicken was the smallest I’ve ever seen also ! Just given our money back nothing else Except that the waiter said it’s happened loads of times as they had a batch of them !! Safe to say we wouldn’t go in another Nando’s if you paid me to This was a Xmas trip to see our son for Christmas

Centrally located, with many other watering holes, cafes, arcade games, and cinemaplex. Foods are indeed Nandos goodness, and this is a constant taste factor. Plus point is the restaurant serves halal items.

Eaten twice from here now. Last visit order took more than 45 minutes to be delivered this time about 30mins. Worst part is you can see your order is ready but they have online orders to dispatch so they can have good rating on online services but do not care as much for their direct service for the people who are sitting and waiting for food. Not so fresh when you eat. Manager was kind enough to acknowledge and offer free desert but refused as I wasn’t complaining to get freebies as unfortunately most of us do. PS. Only went 2nd time because of Halal food

First of all, the place was absolutely freezing. The we sat right in front of the pass where food was put when cooked. We watched as the food mounted up. There didnt seem to be enough staff. When food eventually arrived food was cold. Very disappointed. Very over priced, considering you have to order food online. Help yourself to drinks. Certainly wont be returning. Poor value for money

Nando’s is normally a good choice for something a bit nicer than McDonalds, while still being reasonably quick and with good service. That wasn’t the case in this branch. A meal for two took forty minutes to arrive, and when it did one dish had cooled to room temperature, and the other was wrong. Politely asking for the right dish to be brought instead resulted in the waitress signing loudly and rolling her eyes, and then coming back a minute Mayer to tell us that they had run out of the right chicken portion. It was then ten minutes for the cold one to be replaced. Another member of staff came by as we were finishing to ask if everything was OK, and when the issue with the chicken was mentioned she said that no, of course they hadn’t run out if what we’d ordered, and would we like it changed now. We were off to see a film, and were already late, so declined, and there was no offer made of a reduction for charging us for the wrong dish. At £60 for two plates of chicken and chips and two drinks I do expect the staff to at least care, a bit, and not lie to me rather than fixing mistakes. I still like Nando’s, but don’t try this one. The fact that it was nearly empty on a Saturday night when everywhere else was packed suggests that we’re not the only people disappointed by the experience.

Visited them recently and one of the staff was very rude. I was with friends, I would have left otherwise. The food wasn’t good. Burnt baby chicken. Will never visit again

If you've never been to nandos what are u doing with your life?! Its so delicious I could eat it every week. The decoration inside is so bright and looks amazing and the staff are always so nice.

Quick service, delicious food and friendly staff. I really enjoy a lemon and herb grilled chicken wrap with peri salted chips and macho peas. With it being in the gate it can almost seem hidden away, however it is very popular. The only Halal Nandos in Newcastle.

You cannot go wrong with a Nandos. A great place to get quick and tasty food. Service was great and friendly. There is also plenty of seating.

There was a delivery issue initially when I wrote my first review. Honestly they have refunded within 2 days. I can't complain at all and I cam say they were very professional dealing with my complaint.

Chicken took 30 minutes with no explanation given by staff

Great atmosphere and lovely staff! Really kind and helped surprise my friend with the birthday cake we brought in. They lit the candles and brought it to her singing. It was really sweet of them to help us and I just really appreciate the staff for making the night so memorable! Food was also delicious as per usual. Only thing I wish could be done is the ability to add a tip onto the bill because all the staff tonight deserved it! Thanks for the experience Nando's The Gate!

The staff was very kind. They understood we were first timers and were very helpful. Food is good but quantity is not justified. The portions of every food was too less. Chicken wings is not that good. Sauces are food.

The gate Nandos is a uber hub and sit in customers are second priority, even if empty they will make you wait 30mins to 1 hour. Stick to metro centre one if you can. They should shut this down really and operate the uber hub from a Container like the London ones.

Fantastic experience with the service and the food, can't wait to try it again when coming back to Newcastle.

Don’t know what when wrong the night we went but wasn’t impressed. The fire alarm went off, the drinks machine wasn’t working- we were given cans instead (no mention of a refund). Waited ages for food then they forgot one of our items which we had to ask for. Oh and it was absolutely freezing.

Food apparently fell on the floor in the kitchen. Then got told to wait as they were putting in more chicken. However waited a further 40 minutes to get it. How can you be dropping food in a restaurant?? Terrible. Not even a refund.

Had halloumi sticks , butterfly chicken and beanie wrap. All of them were delicious. It's halal as well.

The food was amazing. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I would say the atmosphere can be improved.

2nd time at Nando’s and it’s the most overhyped, overpriced boring chicken I’ve ever had. Not to mention the service that night was terrible. Didn’t season my chicken. No sides brought for me and my friends we had to go up twice before it got sorted by a manager. The manager was great and friendly and really was great.

I really don’t know how hard it can be to run a Nando’s. Waitresses running around with plates of chicken with no idea where they’re supposed to be. One person on til with no idea how to work said till, causing a queue of customers waiting. Rude staff when I explained my horrible experience. The worst Nando’s I’ve ever been to, ended up leaving without being served after half an hour. Awaiting a refund

Waiting on order to be refunded after the staff are incredibly rude and incapable of completing simple tasks such as using a till. The website is shocking having ordered and it not going to the till but still charging the money.

Good place and decent food!! I enjoy the Nando’s sauces which is delectable. We had to wait quite a bit before we got seated. Service was as expected.

I enjoyed the food but it is overpriced at eleven pounds for a chicken burger with a hard bun. The order via the app is fine although not sure why my wife couldn't change a bun for a wrap. Then we were brought about 3 bottles of ketchup which were almost empty.. really?! I was impressed that the waitress brought a second bowl of chips after she dropped 1 chip. Food came in reasonable time and children enjoyed their meals

Recently I visited there a few days ago. When I was done eating, I told the waitress I was “Pessi” with my food. She instantly knew that I was finished with my food. Couldn’t recommend enough!

We visited here twice for a takeaway meal. It has been years since we have been in Nandos and we had forgotten how good it tastes! The team have obviously put a lot of thought into the takeaway experience which was very efficient. On the first visits we ordered burgers and these were great. On the second visit we order a selection of sides with chicken to share. The team were great giving us takeaway cutlery and sauces. Can't wait till we have the time to dine in.

Why can’t customers just use the online ordering system as guest? Nando’s can’t force everyone to register and login to be able to order. This causes extra problems to customers who simply just want to have meals, and not complicated by problems logging in.

Great restaurant and atmosphere. You order drinks with the barcode and service is fast. Plenty of time to watch a movie afterwards. Enough vegetarian choices.

Unfortunately this is one of the worst nandos I have been too, I would not recommend it at all first off all I was waiting at the front for a very long period of time with nobody coming to speak to me or sit me down at a table then when I did eventually get to a table the food took over an hour to come which was very confusing due to the lack of customers, it was really quiet! But after that they also got my order wrong and gave me chicken wings when I ordered a chicken breast, I would’ve much rather spent my time at the KFC 100m away!

Nando is everywhere in UK. Food is spot on. No frills. Staff, are average. I asked for a glass of water, they gave a glass, no water. Peace!

Worst meal terrible customer survice. Waited 10 mins to be served even though there was 3 members of staff standing around. The food came and they drough the wrong chips and instead of taking them away and bringing the correct ones we got told to keep them and they would bring more. They brought a very small portion and they expected use to eat the ones we didn't want. The small bowl got shoved in my face as though I should be grateful I was getting them. Then when my son asked for normal chip they eventually drough 2 very big portions. The chicken tasted old . The cutlery and grasses where filthy and the whole experience was awful. I've been going to that nandos since my son was 3 years old and we were celebrating his 17th. Needless to say but I will never be visiting again.

Got food poisoning from here. Management is poor most nandos like that even the one at metro centre

I do like Nando's. It does satisfy the hunger pang and with this branch I was very happy overall. Food, good. Staff, friendly. Service, fast. Atmosphere, pleasant.

This is nothing personal but I just had the most disappointing salad in my life. Soft brocoli pickle carrot spicy coleslaw humus... a big let down Seriously Dropping Standards By Nandos

Reliable for a good nosebag and always pretty damn delicious, even more so when you've been deprived of this place for nearly 2 years! My only gripe is that it seems like since COVID has hit, there's been some obsession with getting everything done through a QR Code. Joining a virtual queue for a table by scanning a QR Code takes much longer than just taking a name and a mobile number. That and ordering is so much more of a hassle, part of the charm is going and ordering at the front desk (Especially if you've been countless times like myself). This location isn't great for this either due to the previously mentioned limited mobile service and unreliable WiFi connection in that part of The Gate. Genuinely hope this is a temporary measure as it somewhat kills part of the experience and not everybody is willing/able to do everything through QR Codes. Nevertheless, delicious as always and cannot fault the food and yes, I got a stash of Nandos goodies before heading back to Sweden!

Nando’s does what it does well and the Gate restaurant shows this well. Good hot, prompt and delicious. Restaurant reasonably clean for a city centre busy environment.

It absolutely made our day, so grateful to all the team at the Gate who made a normal trip to Nandos really memorable. Thanks guys!

Was really looking forward to going to nando's the Gate my first time here but when we ordered everything was fine until we watched people preparing food it seemed nobody cared food was touched with hands then hands touched hair nose face drinks then food again without washing hands cross contamination at its finest i could go on forever it was that bad me and my partner had the runs and that was the only thing we ate as we where saving ourselves looking forward to this disappointing worst nando's experience ever

No menus for some reason on our visit. Directed to access the menu on our phones which would be great except the place is like a Faraday cage and the free WiFi didn't actually provide an Internet connection. The food was fine, its chicken, you know what to expect if you go there

The food served is good. The biggest issue that completing orders is extremely hard , both using your own internet or using the wifi in store. I’ve been there many times with disappointment in completing orders, all times i had to go to the cashier to pay!!

Super disappointed. Understaffed (for which they had to delay providing a table on our second visit now). Chicken came out without heat labels (medium / extra hot). Complained about the awfully dry chicken - we were offered our untouched chicken to be redone only. Sauce on the chicken burger was off- to which the manager simply replied “this is how the sauce is”. No coleslaw available. Felt the overall standard of food and service was really poor and we are massive Nando’s regulars.

No pop available, terrible service, attitude by some of the staff was just wrong. £2.99 for a single can of pop! It was a case of get you, then get you out! NEVER AGAIN!

Very put off by our experience last night at this Nandos. When we arrived we had to join a virtual queue on their webpage even though we were number 1 and only 2 groups behind. Didnt even use that in the end anyway. Then told they had run out of paper menus and having to order online was a big hassle, their 4G was down so just had internal wifi that was super slow and kept crashing. Would have been easier to just order take out at home, wish we'd gone with that. Also dont appreciate having to sign up with the corporation just to get a meal, now i'm being spammed with emails. The food wasn't that great, don't like the new veggie option, but that's just my personal taste. The staff were unprofessional and just chatting among themselves loudly, one girl even moaning she didnt feel very well, which is not what a customer wants to hear. Has put me off wanting to go out for food in the future. Shame.

My boyfriend and I ran into Nando’s because we had skipped breakfast and were absolutely starving. As it was only 12:25-ish the restaurant was rather quiet and were seated quickly. Unfortunately we had to order online - it was a whole process, and took a fair bit longer than it would have done if we had just ordered with a server, but you can’t really debate with COVID regulations. The drinks came out quickly, as did the sweet potato wedges to start. They were absolutely delicious; piping hot, perfectly chunky, soft on the inside yet crispy on the outside, and came with a mayo-based dip that my boyfriend absolutely loved. The mains arrived pretty much straight after we had finished the wedges. His pitta looked spot-on, absolutely bursting with coleslaw. If I’m being pinickety I could say that the peri salt was distributed highly unevenly on his chips, but oh well. I ordered a completely plain chicken burger and chips, which was absolutely fine - to be honest, I was that hungry, I was just happy to have food in front of me!I think that everything came to £30-ish in total, which is really pricey for what we got, but I can’t complain too much; everything tasted good, it was fast and convenient, all members of staff were smiley and efficient, and the restaurant seemed pretty clean.

Very nice as always. Halal branch with the same level of high quality. Welcoming staff. With every thing back to normal as old days, really enjoyed it today.

Spur of the moment decision to visit. Gentleman explained everything on arrival. Food arrived quickly and was tasty. My only negative is there is no mobile reception and the free wifi isn't too great so it took ages to order food as the webpage kept timing out.

Greeted by lovely waitress, didn’t get name, logged into track and trace and order facility. Shown to table all v clean. Very well laid out interior, very safe. Food prompt and very tasty. All enjoyable and would recommend to all

Should probably be awarded "Best Nandos" Super friendly staff managed to squeeze me in ( Just me I was away for business) Food came super quick and most importantly they was on top of the refillable drinks. Amazing !!! Well done Nando's Newcastle !!!

Although I've been to a few different Nando's my wife had never been. Staying in the Royal Station Hotel, there is a Nando's just across the road so we decided to give it a try. The checking in, etc., worked like clockwork and we were made to feel very welcome. The current system was nicely explained as it's a bit different whilst there are still lockdown measures in place. The young man that brought us the sauces, etc., was very friendly and helpful and gets 10 out 10, but the real star of the evening was "Kate H", who gets 12 out of 10! Helpful, patient and totally knowledgeable about all the food and drink and she steered us through the ordering, paying and everything else. Every Nando's should have a Kate H - we'll try our local one in Parrs Wood when we return home to see if they do! The food was as always very good and was a big hit with my wife. All in all a very pleasant evening.

Big chains do it best With hundreds of product development chefs and competitively priced food...beats any Michelin star restaurant (one man band claiming they can take on 100 chefs and charge a fortune!) Can go in your joggers and don’t have to worry about poor service and you just help yourself 😁

food has gone downhill to dry and just doesn't seem fresh any more ! Thought we will give it another go today As its my daughter birthday . Takeout only due to covid restrictions. picked up our food to find it to be cold ( we live literally 5 minutes away ) the small boxes that contained the chips mash and rice were not normal sized portions. Can only describe them fit for a small child . What a waste of £43 order number 23 The gate Newcastle upon tyne. SO MUCH FOR SECOND CHANCES !

We were seated within five minutes and the food was delivered promptly after ordering on the website. Staff were more than happy to bring sauces and drinks etc to the table. Overall a lovely meal!

Staff were all lovely and friendly. Food was absolutely lush we all really enjoyed our meals. I had to take some of my food home in a carry out box as i was stuffed. Thanks for a excellent service Nandos.
