It's so dark and dingy when it gets dark you can hardly see who you're sitting next to especially at the front windows. We've stopped drinking there. Four of us were regulars Friday and Saturday night. A good pub spoilt.

Very nice pub and staff. Very nice indeed. Shame about the beer. Every single draft beer and cider is mass produced, additive laden, brewed in 18 hour crap. Not one premium (real) beer option. Even the so called real ales are mass produced chemical enhanced rubbish. Sadly won't be going back unless they change management to somebody who has pride in their products. Hate to think what their wines are like. Bet it costs them 2 quid a bottle.

In response to a recent post by Vern . 9 of the ten cask lines are always from independent breweries and constantly rotate. The keg lines are designated by the owners. The staff have no control over their placement.

Every time we come in the short guy who shaved his head or is bald instantly can ruin your day. What an absolute misery. A pub we use every time we go to Newcastle and the building is amazing, most the staff are great and the atmosphere is nice. But we've all started to notice that when you are met with his miserable personality, no smile, no hello, no care your day is a bit worse off. Also last Saturday the Guinness was horrible.

This is an old pub which you can tell from outside and in. Inside is very traditional which is nice. They had a good selection of drinks. The table we sat at was a bit sticky. There was lots of mould in one of their pictures and missing carpet on the stairs. Overall a bit grubby. The place needs a good clean. The barman could have been a bit more welcoming seeing as the pub was almost empty. I won’t return.

We walked in after seeing reviews and was met with no hello, No welcome, no food, and oh asked for a double scotch Glen fid and then said oh with diet coke please, to be told you did not ask for that. No smile just attitude. Place looks great could be great but service needs work. A message from two old very successful hotel and hospitality people. Not happy and left did not even finish drinks. My first visit back to this pub in 43 years. It was great then and almost as great now. Friendly staff and very welcoming with a nice pint of Guinness served but many other beers available. Food no longer available, hence why I said,”almost as great”. This is a proper lovely pub with a full wooden (Oak) bar, its frequented by locals and tourists and has a lovely serene atmosphere. Hope to return sooner than 43 years from now.

The barman was rude and impatient. I am disabled following brain tumour, heart attack and blindness in right eye due to tumour. The pub has no disability provision such as disabled toilets on ground floor. Due to illnesses my mobility is terrible and I couldn't climb steps so was forced to go outside with help from friends to pee on path. People commend this pub as an old fashioned pub, it is with their service to serving drinks and disability awareness it is thoroughly stuck in 1800s. I won't be back

Took some out of town clients out for a drink in Newcastle. Junkie with an aggressive cnut dog in the bar at 10pm. Some guys came in and chinned the bloke, and his k9 mate didn't blink an eyelid 🤣. Not a hotel but a bit of a Newcastle institution that might need to start spending a bit of money. Not much changed here for years but missing carpets as you head to the unpleasant loos need sorting. It was busy enough but not that much to justify the huge number of empty glasses on the bar being ignored by staff. Prices fine but might need to care a bit more.

The Bridge Hotel is a very striking building close by the Castle; it was just a short walk from where we were staying and easy to find. We visited the Bridge Hotel last week to go to the Singers and Musicians Night at the Folk Cub which takes place in an upstairs room. What a great atmosphere when we walked into the pub-it was absolutely buzzing and packed - exactly how you want a pub to be! That said, we were served quickly at the bar; the staff all friendly and attentive. Great choice of beers available together with all the usual non-alcoholic drinks such as J2O. I loved the beautiful stained glass Windows showing what I believe to be local scenes. Well worth a visit if you enjoy a pub with a great atmosphere and good choice of beer; especially recommended if you enjoy Folk music and would like to visit the second oldest Folk Club in the country (Mondays).

This branch always seems to be a mess as it's so small and stuff is everywhere. The staff have little craic (unlike those at the Monument branch who are great). Could do with taking the COVID shields away as well unless it's now used as protection from the homeless folk who hang about the entrance. Today the Ham Salad Baguette had the texture/ taste of yesterday's. The Apple Juice was not chilled and tastes about half as appley as Tesco's 500ml meal deal bottle. All was not quite lost though as the Belgian Bun was delicious. Value was OK at £4.85 had the sandwich and juice been nicer.
