Brilliant value for money. Fantastic atmosphere for the Caraboe Cup today. Very friendly and safe environment. The staff work really well together and efficiently. I highly recommend this pub for family/friends meeting

We always receive a warm welcome from Claire and the team at Corner House. The service is great and we love coming here for the quiz.

Visited with friends for burger night, Good meal delivered hot and prompt. Waiting staff friendly and helpful. Quizz night on Tuesdays are entertaining.

Great boozer and the bar staff are a good laugh. Definitely be going back. Good bit of banter with some great staff. Food was good as well

.During my work trip this week, I stayed at the Corner House. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the pub itself is a popular spot with friendly locals throughout the week. They have a lively events calendar, including quizzes and live music. The Corner House isn't luxurious, but this gem of a pub, has comfortable and clean guest rooms matched with fantastic staff, a well stocked bar and great menu. Located just outside Newcastle, offers excellent transport links into the city centre. It's perfect for a weekend getaway or, like my trip, a convenient base for business travel. I highly recommend the Corner House and will definitely stay there again on future visits.

Food not the best. Came fast after ordering, suspiciously fast, almost as if a microwave was it's main chef. Would not recommend.

Staff and service excellent. Being a southerner up for the Newcastle v Bournemouth game I was made to feel welcome by all the staff, really felt at home. Nothing was too much trouble, and the food was superb. I will definitely visit again.

Lavish, delicious food in a sociable, relaxed environment. You order from the counter, where you get your drink straight away. Food is brought.

Booked a 13th party for grandson led to a cold room on arrival no conversation from staff member who led us there (clean & tidy) prepared for our visit. Nobody explained anything for example when food etc would be served Nobody came asked how we were doing. Bar in function room not open (not informed of this on arrival) inconvenient with parents of children to keep leaving the room for refreshments. Toilets filthy should be condemned one had no toilet seat or toilet roll other just plain dirty. Sinks needed a good clean. Food arrived member of staff never said a word just brought it in made no eye contact with anyone. For a 1st impression it was awful I have visited many greene king pubs & this is the worst of them all in my opinion. Bar manager gossiping with other staff about her partner/husband at Bar not professional!

Family of 10 went for Christmas dinner and can honestly say it was the worst meal ive ever had. Turkey was like mush, roast potatoes were hard and the veg was inedible. Would not recommend.

I booked a table for 10 online and visited with my kids, 2 friends and their respective children. We were very happy with the space that had been reserved for us which gave us plenty of space for the kids (ages 10-14) and adults. The menu was great, with options for the vegetarians amongst us and it was possible to feed us all at a reasonable price. The service was prompt and really friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed our food and it was great that the pool tables and dart board were available afterwards for when the kids were getting a bit restless and ready to move about while the adults had a coffee. Really relaxed, safe, comfortable, family atmosphere and plenty of space for the group. We plan to return as a group more often in the new year.

Here for Xmas dinner with the family. Absolutely shocking at the state of the Xmas dinner. The most bland over cooked mushy veg. Rock hard roast potatoes, mushy turkey 🤷 how you even get mushy turkey is beyond me. Genuinely is the worst dinner I've ever had out in my life.

When deciding to go out the corner house always come to the forefront to visit. We are treat like family and have never had a bad experience in all the years we have been going. The staff are second to none the manageress is such a happy lovely person.

Booked a buffet for the raised area of the bar for 18 people. Food was hot and tasty, with everyone commenting how good it was. Staff were helpful and accommodating.

With my family, we had lunch there. It was a very busy pub but welcoming. We had drinks and food, the service was good, we didn't wait long for either. The food was nice and well presented.

Why offer table service for drinks when it takes an eternity to be served. Then it is delivered with no acknowledgement of your wait. Corner House always and ever renowned for its (lack of) service!!

Great stay while husband in the Freeman Hospital. Could not ask for any better place to stay the staff very friendly and helpful especially Gemma and Simone. Gemma went out of her way everytime I walked in, she made sure I had everything I needed. Food very good.

From when I first arrived to when I left, all the staff were welcoming, polite and very helpful. They explained everything about my stay clearly and, the room that was provided was super. It was large an spacious, which allowed me to rest and complete my work where necessary. The food on offer was good and varied, with a great selection offered at breakfast. The whole experience was great and fantastic value for money!

I've cried Hunter's chicken in numerous pubs and this is by far the best. Calum cooked it to perfection. The staff are all helpful and very friendly.

Popped in to avoid the rain luckily got a table as the place was packed i had the Limited edition hot dog and my partner the steak,special thanks to Clare in the kitchen as both were delicious. Might need to think about keeping the hotdogs on the menu as they are a winner

Came here with my family for a pub tea and it didn’t disappoint. Food was lovely, atmosphere was great and the service from staff was exceptional, in particular a young lady called Emma. She went above and beyond for us and our little one making sure we were comfortable and well tended too. Will be back for sure!

This is a great spot for some value lunch. Good offers - enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak for under a tenner. Can't complain - the interior is modern and lots of TV's showing live sport. Drinks are not the cheapest but there is a decent range.

Really enjoyed Tuesday Quiz night at the Corner House. The food was great and the service was speedy and friendly. I had a rump steak that was on offer and my partner had a chicken mix. There was a good selection of drinks and the atmosphere was relaxed

Visited with a few friends. Was served by a lovely and helpful worker named Simone. We all had a great time. The steak I ordered was cooked lovely and the overall atmosphere of the pub was amazing. Can't wait to visit again.

We have ate and drank here for many years, but not again. Being disabled I used their accessible toilet only to find there was no hand washing facilities (photo 1 ). I had to go to the gents only to find the hand drier was not working and you had to use toilet roll to dry your hands and put it in the toilet, note no toilet seat (photo 2). I raised the issues with a member of staff and was told they had been waiting for a week for a part to repair the accessible toilet and there was no senior staff available to look at the condition of the gents toilet. If this is the standard of hygiene in the public areas I dread to think about the conditions behind the scenes I,e kitchen areas. Needless to say we will not be returning.

I booked a double bed for my parents who were visiting me in Newcastle from London. It was their first time in Newcastle and they enjoyed staying at the Corner House Hotel. They had breakfast at the hotel every morning, and on the first day, they were served by Simone Prior. They said she made their first day very nice, and was friendly and polite. I also came to the Corner House pub for lunch/dinner across the week and was served by her a few times, and each time she was absolutely lovely, as were the other staff. Simone is very good at her job and a nice person to be greeted by in the front of house. Thank you for a lovely trip.

Brought my mum into town and since I had a nice roast here before On a Sunday we went here, however this time it was a mess and I was left embarrassed that I brought her here. The staff brought drinks out quickly and right but the first roast came and then we didn’t see another waiter for 8 mins! At which point they brought my roast out, my mum still hadn’t got hers and we were watching ours cool down, 5 mins later hers came out at which point ours weren’t even warm .They also didn’t even bring the extra gravy we paid for or the starters we ordered, I had to go to the bar and ask the lady what’s going on, to which she said the gravy’s already on, but I’m certain it wasn’t because there was barely any gravy on the plate at that point and I paid for extra. And what appeared to be the manager was being blunt and rushing me as if she hadn’t just ruined my meal I paid over £50 for, I don’t think I’ll ever come here for a roast again, it was tasty but the service was dreadful considering it wasn’t even busy, I’d say they were 10-20% full at most, ok for a pint but avoid the kitchen as they don’t seem very co ordinated with the staff

What a pleasant stay, nice food, exceptionally helpful staff. Room was ample for our 1 night stay. Only 1 minor grip tiny bathroom.

My husband booked this place on a 2 for 1 deal which was a reasonable price for room only. When we arrived, we received a warm welcome, everything was explained in terms of doors at night, along with breakfast times etc. Our room was small and quite basic, there’s hanging space but no drawers to put things away, maybe for one night this would be ok but we were there for two nights, so we had to place our bags on the floor and take out as we needed. There’s a full length mirror but no plug socket close by for plugging in a hairdryer and to be able to see when drying your hair. There were sockets by the desk and a blank wall above it, surely an ideal place for a mirror? There were only two tea bags provided, so one each for one cup of tea, more would have been nice. Our room unfortunately overlooked the road, which was very busy and noisy and this really affected our sleep. We couldn’t open the window due to the noise and even with the window and the double glazing closed, the noise overnight disturbed our sleep. That said, the location in terms of the bus stop to go into the city is good as the bus stop is right outside. The shower cubicle was small and the strength of the water through the head was really weak. The towels were a decent size though and basic hand wash provided by a wall dispenser, the same in the shower cubicle. Breakfast was at an additional cost and it was good. Overall, we were disappointed with our stay and the amenities, neither of us slept well, the shower was disappointing and not the refreshing wake up I’d hoped for.

We were in today...ordered for my wife and myself sirloin steak ...come with half a burnt to a crisp tomato and the steak was the same..just burnt that's all we could taste. Also the cut was really fatty just as well I have a dog to take care of it. This is our 2nd visit but on this showing there will be no 3rd. Also since I asked for salad instead of chips my steak dis not come on the gridle plate which is what I ordered ...oh well mistakes made lessons learned. I should have known when it was nigh on empty?!

My Husband and I visited for the first time on the 14th June we were told where our table was but they said we could sit anywhere we took drinks over to our table and my husband went to the bar to order our food we both had 8 Boneless Chicken wings with BBQ sauce to start then we both had steak I had Sirloin and my husband had Ribeye both well done when they came they were sizzling hot but the only fault is found was my peas were cold but I didn’t say anything because it wasn’t a huge deal and I didn’t want to make a fuss over some peas we both then had the Epic Choctastic Sundae then I had a Long Island Ice Tea and my Husband had a Zombie the staff were impeccable and so professional and we didn’t have to wait long for anything we ordered, we will definitely go there again.

Deffo be bk and reccomend this place good choice of food had my favourite malfey gin nice decor very chilled ....more things i want to try in food and drink

Lager and beer is expensive and awful, I assume the pines are not cleaned properly. Service was okay but slow.

Went for dinner before a show at the theatre next door. The staff were lovely and the food was great! It's the first time I've been in after driving past regularly for over 30 years and I'd happily go back.

Popped in for Lunch and a few drinks the other afternoon, got served by the manager Sam who was very friendly and helpful (he also had lovely curly hair) and Sarah the other manager served our meals who was also very accommodating. Will definitely be back!

It was the worst burger I’ve ever had. So dry it was impossible to eat even drowned in sauces. At 8.50 it’s shameful to serve food like this. Very poor will never eat here again

I have been here a few times over 15-20 years, but this was the first time I wasn't that impressed. Don't get me wrong, there wasn't anything particularly wrong, but it was little things like serving tacos in an army mess tin that wasn't practical and just seems a bit odd. We tried to order bbq burnt ends taco and wanted to pay extra and add Halloumi as they actually do tacos with Halloumi, but unfortunately, this isn't an option which seemed a little weird. You did get 2 tacos (only one in the picture) which made the portion a good size. We also ordered mayo loaded fries but unfortunately they didn't have the mayo and the portion was smaller than expected (see picture) Having said that, I would go back as someone on another table ordered a burger, which was served on a plate and looked really nice so maybe we just need to keep it simple.

Brought my two grandsons for tea and how happy were we to find we all ate for £15. My wife had a hunters chicken with chips and peas, my grandsons had roast chicken peas and chips. And I had an 8oz gammon pineapple chips and peas. I have used the corner house before and will continue as the service is second to none.

It's a great little pub close enough to the Freeman Hospital and a bus away from the RVI

Generally speaking, not a bad pub, the staff seem fine, the location is good, the food is what you'd expect but the beer is poor at best. Mostly fizzy watered down beer and no real ale when we visited. The staff said there was real ale due to come on but it was weak stuff anyway. We're a bit disappointed.

Went for Sunday lunch today and was so disappointed. We had roast beef. The mashed potato was powdered smash type and the veg was frozen and not cooked very well. The roast potatoes were frozen too. We certainly won't be back and would not recommend to anyone.

Fined £60 for parking while visiting for meal. Been going for 30 years & had no idea about this new rule of registering reg number at bar. Most expensive pub lunch I've had. Bit peed off.

Came in for the steak deal. Steaks were cooked to perfection. We were recommended some lovely wine to go with our food. We will definitely be back again.

Called into the corner house for a drink after our walk through Heaton park and Jesmond dene. Decided on lunch after seeing their Thursday buy one get one free burger offer. Burgers were very good. Hot, tasty and salad very fresh. Flame grilled beef burger wth bacon and cheese and American chicken fillet burger, both this chips & 2 onion rings. Excellent value for money both for just over £9.00. The place was clean and the staff friendly

Stopped off to pick my partner up from her Christmas work night out and ended up with a parking fine! Looking at the other reviews it looks like a good strategy to get extra money out of customers. We'll never be back.

Visited on 10th December. It was quite busy. A lot of tables were reserved from 6pm. We were there at 4. We wanted to order food but was told an hour and a half wait! My daughter took a chance and ordered 2 bowls of chips. We got bag of crisps each in case. The chips arrived 20 minutes later, which were very small portion, so we could have ordered food. We also noticed a family come in and they got all there meals 15 minutes later. I don't understand why we couldn't have got our meals. Very disappointed with the whole experience.

Amazing service as always, food is always good & quick , takes a bit longer when it's busy, but worth the wait. Older chef with the beard obviously knows what he's doing. Good selection of drinks at the bar, & always helpful staff

Stayed here , with husband and my mum (demetia) as we took her to Beamish , 1 room , but 2 payments from bank. No help from staff , was told one payment would 'bounce " back to me , never did! Food and bar service faultless Went to room at 10pm , overlooking car park , so was quiet , until the fire alarm went off at 10.30pm. For approx 60 secs , then again at 4.45am and also at 4.55, the worst night sleep , mentioned it to the guy at breakfast, all he said was he would check later , oh , and did we evacuate the building ? Now got the hassle of trying to get the 2nd payment back,

Toilets a disgrace have been for years ..was a flagship pub in S and N days..got bus there after the match..they used to sell Stella ..OK don't so ordered a Perroni ..£6.05 disgrace barmaid never mentioned the price ..used to be a favourite pub of...

Good carparking , efficient service, nice restaurant/bar. Location good for meeting up. They also show live sports on multiple screens. Worth a visit

I recently visited with a friend. During the time I was there someone stole my NHS walking stick. The staff were amazing they looked at the cctv and recognised the man in question and made a huge effort and got my walking stick back, minus the label. Thanks to the staff for making such an effort. The police were very surprised the staff got it back. Thanks a million to all of you. Mary Cowan.

For me the positives are it’s a great out of town location near to where my daughter lives - I’ve stayed in city centre hotels previously and have ended up paying extra for parking, as well as having to navigate my way around the city...

Food is ok, my local so thumbs up!

Not worth the £95 I paid for one night. Room ok and clean but very noisy, both from road noise outside and I could hear every word from the next door room. Won't be staying again.
