Fujiyama Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

My friends and I went here the other night, our first time having teppanyaki and I can’t express enough what a great experience we all had. Wonderful staff with amazing customer service and delicious food with a ‘show’. Our chef definitely looked after us well and so did the rest of the staff that night. From writing our friends name with the rice to the fun egg catching games. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and we hope to come again one day! Thank you to all the staff at fujiyama for a wonderful night well spent! :))

The tables are very close together so when it’s busy you feel very crammed in. This was the first time coming to a teppanyaki restaurant and it was a bit of a disappointment. I was expecting a bit of a show and a bit of interaction, but we didn’t really get any of that. The chef came, cooked the food then left. I noticed the only time anyone got any interaction is if it was your birthday. Even then it wasn’t a huge amount. I wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t return.

This meal was pre-planned and we were looking forward to enjoying authentic Japanese Cuisine, cooked in a novel way in front of us all, 9 in total. Almost the first words out of one staff member's mouth; "We've run out of lobster, blame that man over there", pointing to another customer's table. One of the reasons that this restaurant was chosen was because it served Lobster in many of the menu choices, especially with the banquet options. First disappointment of the night before we had sat down. The "Fujiyama salad" could have been bought at the Green Market. What is Japanese about radicchio lettuce, some bits of cucumber and a quarter of a tomato? It took an awful long time for our meal to be brought and prepared by a "highly trained" chef stand in, a waiter called Chester, a nice Filipino lad who tried his best as he was obviously tired and as 11-30 and the end of the meal approached, increasingly so. So, back to the meal. Assorted vegetables were various bits of cabbage/beansprouts etc, shredded to be cooked. The "Lobster substitute" turned out to be duck breast, only one mind.. There were 9 of us. The scallops were almost shredded as young Chester tried his best to act out the bible story of loaves and fishes; cutting it fine doesn't mean more, it means mince. £450 for a meal where the ingredients could have been bought for about 40 quid. Very disappointed, with the whole experience and will not be recommending anyone to visit.

Went here for dinner with the kids - their first time - great fresh food and an wonderful chef who made our night special. Also great value and super atmosphere - def book as it’s busy (which makes it great fun too). Staff are all attentive and kind.

The food was unreal and the service was incredible! The experience was interactive as expected but the staff member who served us seemed to genuinely love his job and always had a smile on his face! They catered well to various dietary requirements and took extra precautions to ensure our orders were right and there was no contamination.

First time visiting and It was an awesome experience. The food was really tasty and the chef was a great showman! Definitely will visit again

Un gran restaurante para ver un espectáculo. Tuve el menú del plato caliente que incluía ensalada, brotes de soja, sopa de miso, arroz y carne de tu elección. Bastante caro para 20 porque me fui todavía con hambre y nos cobraron por otra factura de mesas: más de 80 cuando mi mesa solo tenía 20 y aún no se ha resuelto.

Visitamos como parte de Eat Out To Help Out, compartimos el menú del almuerzo. No puedo comer langostinos, así que mi amigo y yo intercambiamos carnes y el personal fue muy servicial. Es muy interesante ver al chef cocinar frente a ti y realmente hace todo lo posible para que sea un espectáculo. Es uno de los restaurantes asiáticos más caros, pero vale la pena el dinero, y la carne era tan suculenta y jugosa porque estaba recién salida de la parrilla.

Esta fue nuestra primera comida juntos desde marzo, la comida estuvo deliciosa, el chef fue muy entretenido y genial con mi hija de 10 años. Todo el personal fue muy optimista y servicial, lo que cuando se usan máscaras / viseras y se trabaja en un ambiente cálido y ajetreado no puede ser fácil. Las medidas de Covid implementadas, especialmente las pantallas transparentes que separan a las familias, garantizaron que nos sintiéramos lo más seguros posible durante nuestra experiencia gastronómica. El plan de comer fuera para ayudar fue una gran ventaja. Gracias por una noche fantástica.

Qué lugar tan fabuloso. Excelente personal y los chefs son increíbles. Ver su comida preparada frente a usted con estilo, garbo y puro teatro es una excelente manera de pasar la noche.Muy sociable para amigos y familiares y la comida también es increíble.Visité muchas veces y nunca me cansé del lugar.

Great night out for daughters 50th birthday. Excellent food and the at table preparation added to the enjoyment with our personal table chef who was very entertaining.

Ordered the seafood banquet (£37). Started off pretty disappointing with the salad and misou soup starter - the salad was just iceberg lettuce, tomato and some salad cream... looked awful. Misou soup was quite salty. Our chef was lovely, and good entertainment. Next the seafood got cooked for us, the lobster, king prawns, salmon were all really tasty! However, could of been bigger portions, only got 3 king prawns.I think for what you pay here you should get better quality food. Staff were very friendly, was a nice experience, but probably wouldn’t return.

Fui aquí para mi cumpleaños con 11 amigos y, como siempre, estuvo a la altura de las expectativas. Me encanta el factor de entretenimiento incorporado en su experiencia gastronómica, sin embargo, no distrae de las sensaciones de sabor increíbles que consumen su paleta.Sí, no es barato, pero para una ocasión especial, vale la pena en mi opinión. ¡Definitivamente recomendaría el Fujiyama Royale!

Aquí para celebrar un cumpleaños, terminé eligiendo del menú fijo, 27 por cabeza, en mi opinión, la comida está bien, nada genial, nada realmente malo, te distraes con los trucos de la fiesta del chef (que era un gran tipo y atractivo) sobre lo que realmente viene en el plato, encuentro que todo siempre está demasiado salado, con algunas bebidas, la factura para mí y mi esposa fue un poco más de 70 libras, si quieres una buena comida, y tener una buena conversación con la persona estás con lo mejor para evitar.

Took my brother and his family for a meal here as I know how good it can be. It lived up to all expectations- the food was fantastic and cooked in front of us by a a very entertaining and skillful chef. A brilliant evening. Would definitely recommend for a birthday celebration.

First Japanese meal I’ve tried and can honestly say it was a fantastic experience. The food was fantastic cooked in front of you at the table. The staff were brilliant making it more enjoyable than a standard meal. I’ve never laughed as much in my life.

Went tonight with a few friends for a christmas catch up. We have been a few times and never been disappointed. Tonight we ordered from the menu. On the starters it states chicken yakatori skewers, we were served 2 chicken nuggets on a stick! We were not informed that the chicken yakatori was not available nor was it going to be replaced with chicken nuggets. A very poor alternative when you are paying alot of money. When we addressed this issue with the manager not only was he rude and arrogant but he we then insisted that money was deducted off the bill for this. He then deducted £1.60 which was an absolute joke. After being a customer for many years I will be very reluctant to go back!!

22 December 2019. Fujiyama is not far from China Town and just up the road from the Tyne Theatre and Opera House; less than 5 minutes from the train station. On arrival i was given a seat and a menu with a choice of set meals starting from £20, I bought a Japanese beer and ordered the Christmas Lunch for £20 while I waited to be taken to the table. There is a large seating area which means you are likely to end up sitting with strangers which wasn't a problem. You get to choose how you want some of the meat cooked, I asked for medium and ended up with medium rare which is what everyone else asked for.

We went for a friends birthday Saturday gone. Possibly one the best meals I’ve ever had. The food was fresh and delicious, great atmosphere and the chef was hilarious and entertaining. We will definitely be returning.

I rang up prior to my visit to make sure they catered for gluten free as I have coeliac disease and they assured me that they did. We arrived and was very confused by the menu and had to ask twice to explain what it all meant as we had never been here before. I was given something containing gluten and not told until after I had ate it and became unwell upon leaving. The display when they were cooking in front of us was okay but not a private dinner at all even though it was booked for a special occasion and we sat with two other groups. The main courses were mixed up because of poor communication and two of us had to share 1 steak as they refused to get another one. Highly overpriced and when we got the bill and raised are issues the manager was awful. Poor staff who were lovely are obviously scared of him. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. If you want a show go to the circus instead !

Tuvimos una comida increíble aquí durante el fin de semana para el cumpleaños de nuestros amigos. Una experiencia tan buena que no solo está pagando por la comida, sino por la experiencia que obtiene de los chefs que cocinan frente a usted y el entretenimiento que brindan. Nos lo pasamos muy bien. La comida también era deliciosa. 3 de nosotros tuvimos el chef especial y 1 de nosotros el vegetariano especial y todos estábamos muy contentos con la comida. El salmón y las gambas eran particularmente encantadoras.

Fuimos a la semana del restaurante con 5 personas y lo pasamos de maravilla. Gran ambiente e involucró a todos. Lanzar huevos con sombreros y ser entretenido por nuestro chef. Toda la comida estaba cocinada y sabía increíble. Filetes de salmón, pollo teriyaki, costillas, langostinos, sopa de miso. 8 cosas en total para comer. Definitivamente volvería otra vez

First visit and was impressed. Food freshly cooked in front of you. Perfectly cooked, tender and tasty. We had the buffet Royale for just under £28 each.

Hija tenía albóndigas y dijo que estaban deliciosas. Servicio decente Bonito espectáculo para ver las llamas del chef. Varias fiestas de cumpleaños en. Ambiente decente.

Where do I start... Food was fabulous, service amazing, staff friendly, entertaining and very accommodating. Would highly recommend, prices reasonable and fair and definitely worth the prices. Clean surroundings for a person with OCD like me. Comfortable seating and generally excellent service all round. Picture is food before it was cooked incase ya thinking its a tad raw. Get yaself in and try for yourself, we will be back next time we are in Newcastle.

One of two Japanese Teppan Yaki restaurants 50 yards apart serving a broadly similar menu. We had a lunch menu which is almost the same as the evening menu less one course but much better value

Magnífica comida cocinada frente a ti por un joven entretenido y divertido. Hizo el día de mis amigos. La comida era encantadora, nos quedamos impresionados. Ayudó a escenificar grandes fotos. Me encantó todo. No abren todo el día todos los días, así que asegúrate de ir temprano a la hora del almuerzo de la semana para no perderte un regalo Disfrutamos de costillas de pollo, salmón, salmón, carne, ensalada, miso, verduras y arroz. Está en la ciudad de China pero sirve comida japonesa.

Nos dieron un menú de almuerzo y nos pidieron que ordenáramos lo que acordaron. No se mencionaron tiempos para cuando se detuvo. Volvieron y dijeron que estaba terminado. Pedimos que mantengamos nuestra orden apuntando a ningún tiempo indicado. El personal era desagradable y maleducado hasta el punto que nos fuimos y no volveremos.

Had a lovely meal as a family, the staff were friendly and our chef was brilliant! Friendly with a good sense of humour and an excellent cook. The food was lovely and there was a great variety of it, will definitely come back in the future.

I had a fantastic time here for a friends stag do. Party of 13 and everyone left happy and full. Food was amazing and our chef went above and beyond. I will be back again

My best man sorted this spot for my stag do. The food was amazing and the chef we had was simply fantastic to watch and had the entire group in bouts of laughter. Would certainly go back!

We had a table book here for 13 of us on a Saturday night and couldn't fault it, the staff were polite, welcoming and efficient. The food was incredible, cooked to perfection. The two chefs that cooked for us were excellent hosts and made the whole meal that everyone of us enjoyed and not a one of us will forget. I worked for over 10years in catering and if I'm honest it's made me a snob. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody with confidence.

Went Saturday night 16/3/2019. Food was over priced and half cooked. Complained to waiter and we were told that's how they cook their food in there. Chicken was raw and they expected us to eat it. Won't ever visit that place again. How the hell they make money in there I'll never know

me my dad and my friend went here for my birthday. We had been there before and its never been bad. My friend didnt personally like the food but me and my dad liked it. My freind tried the food but he wasnt into it. The staff was really rude;my friend thought it was a Chinese and asked my dad if they did prawn crackers. My dad asked the waiter if they did prawn crackers the waiter started started being very rude and started to swear a little. The guy was so rude my dad threatend him by saying we will just walk out with out paying. The food was good and the cook was fun. Highly recommend not coming here unless you want to have an argument with the very rude guy who answers the phone

I honestly wouldn’t want to waste to much time to write this review. We’ve visited a few times in the past and had fun but it’s never been amazing.

If everywhere made their welcome this nice, everyone would eat out every night. Food was cooked fresh and advisory what to dip as we made our way through... the different courses. Highly recommend

We visited here few weeks ago and we had a fantastic experience! We pre-booked the table in advance as it could be busy. When we arrived, we were greeted straight away and had a seat by one of the tables by the entrance. They asked if we wanted something to drink and gave us a menu to decide on what we having so they can prepare for it. We sat down for 5 mins then took us along to one of the seats around the grill. The whole experience of Japanese teppantaki was amazing! They cooked us our starters then mains in style! We got the opportunity to have a go for ourselves were we had to get the egg shell into our hat! This was a good laugh. At the end of the dining experience, we had a little fun of trying to catch the scrambled egg into the mouth where the chef told us to open out mouth and he would aim it with 100% accuracy. Highly recommended this place and defiantly a good experience!

Really good experience as always. Food very well cooked and delicious, had Royale set meal for 2 added sushi starters etc and shared between 4. More than enough food bottle of wine and sake plus 5 soft drinks, £125.00 not bad.

I was there the other day and by myself. I went for the chefs meal and it was lovely.

We struggled to book on the telephone constantly telling us it was engaged. Ended up having to go in to book. Booked for 6pm. Didn’t get seated till about 6:30. Service was terrible. Very poor choices available and all incredibly in my opinion expensive. We were made to feel bad because the food that was brought out to us initially apparently wasn’t ours and the server made sure we were aware of it after we had started eating. The chef looked like he had been forced to serve us and wasn’t at all interested in us or made us feel welcome. All in all was a very poor evening, food average and chef uninterested. Def not worth the money!

Cenamos aquí por semana de restaurante. Toda la fiesta había sido antes y no estaba impresionada, pero pensamos que volveríamos a intentarlo para ver si había mejorado.

¿Cómo elige un restaurante aquí en la ciudad de China, porque estábamos comiendo temprano algunos estaban cerrados, pero elegimos este porque era el más ocupado? El personal era estupendo, nos mostró una mesa después de asegurarse de que estaba limpio, estaban bien informados sobre la comida que se ofrece cuando se le preguntó sobre los ingredientes. El servicio era rápido y la comida excelente. Todos los que nos rodeaban parecían disfrutar lo que comían.

The food is excellent as well as the experience. Had the fujiyama royal fixed menu. A lot of food and everything was great. Especially the salmon, the steak with garlic, the egg rice and the teriyaki chicken. Good price for the food served. Our chef was great also, we laughed so much. Highly recommended.

Nos encantaba este lugar para las comidas especiales de nuestra familia. No es barato 165 para 4 personas, así que lo usamos para ocasiones especiales. Desafortunadamente no volveremos. Sin inversión por años. El menú es el mismo que hace 10 años. Los baños y las mesas necesitan una reforma total. Las vieiras saboreaban los palitos de cangrejo con los que se rellenaban. La comida fue apresurada y como resultado nos sentimos apurados por una mala comida muy cara.

Visited today for a leaving party. I've never been before and it's a first for Japanese food for me. It was a fab experience sitting around a grill watching the theatrics of a live cooking show. The food was really tasty and the chef got you involved in the whole thing. I was fascinated by how musical the whole thing was when the chef was chopping and seasoning and it was impressive when he set of a huge fireball. Loved it!

I had always wanted to try Fujiyama because I love Japanese food, especially the sushi and so as a special birthday treat my husband booked a table for Sunday evening. I was looking forward to it so much and had already planned to try the seafood banquet. We arrived there on time, it was a quiet evening and there looked to be only two other diners in the restaurant. As we walked in a grumpy looking waiter came over and we said we had a booking for 7.45pm. He then walked us toward a cluster of un-laid tables in the bar area, threw a couple of menus onto a table and then walked off. I work in a restaurant and if I had treated customers with such dis-interest and rudeness, I'd have been reprimanded and rightly so! The un-welcome atmosphere completely put us off from wanting to stay there and so we immediately left, not knowing where to go next. As luck would have it we wandered past 'St Sushi' around the corner ( which was busy inside!) and asked if they could squeeze us in. They accommodated us with a smile and we had a lovely evening of great sushi and spent almost £100 on our meal. My birthday night out had been saved.

Went here for a friend's birthday. If you're looking for something different or like seafood then this is the place to go.

Vine de Leeds a conocer a mi hija, era su cumpleaños, así que elegimos a la carta como un regalo. Pedimos rollos de California, sashimi mixto, filete de ternera teppanyaki con verduras mixtas y arroz hervido. Debería haber escuchado campanas de advertencia cuando el menú de sushi no venía con los menús establecidos y cuando lo hacía estaba laminado con imágenes.

Cada vez que mi OH y yo venimos a Newcastle y discutimos las opciones de cena, ¡tiene que ser Fujiyama!

What can I say! From start to finish this experience was amazing. Soon as we walked in they welcomed us with huge smiles and efficiency, we were sat down drinks came within a minute whilst we looked at the menu. Once we decided on what we were having they'd shown us to our table - shortly after our chef arrived ( what a character he was). The food was faultless and so was the staff ... I'll never forget this experience it made my birthday a very special day. No fuss nothing was too much and if I could rate them a 10 star ... I would. :)

I have been to Fujiyama 4 times and it is amazing. The food is delicious and the chefs are entertaining and really make the meal special. The chicken is a particular highlight, great sushi too!

We ordered Tempura noodles, gyozas, sushi and Tempura prawns, have to say apart from the Tempura prawns the rest of the food wasn't nice at all, we couldn't eat it and left it all. It must be an acquired taste, it just wasn't for us at all.

Had a great time here, we had the royale which has prawns, salmon, chicken and steak (as well as a starter & Rice) - obviously Teppanyaki is mainly about the show, and she chef we had didn't disappoint - egg juggling and all! Food tasted great too, will definitely be coming back.

Were told to try this restaurant as it was different, while the entertainment of cooking the food was good we felt the quality of the food was lacking as was the cleanliness of the establishment. The decor is in need of renovation and the settee with a big slit in it as you enter the premises doesn't exactly inspire confidence about the upkeep and cleanliness. While the food was fresh there was just to much of it and disappointed the fried rice wasn't supplied until after all the other food had been served. also disappointed they were unable to supply a fresh coffee after the meal

These guys have been creating the same theatre and the same food for nearly 30 years in Newcastle (2 different premises) but that’s no bad thing.

Six of us had an entertaining and very amusing night out accompanied by beautifully cooked food all orchestrated by a funny but excellent chef who had us all laughing all night. We all had a turn at catching the egg in the chef's hat with...

Some members of our party arrived 40 minutes late but the staff were incredibly understanding. As always the food was great and the chef at the tapanyaki table was incredibly entertaining. This is more than just a meal it's really great all round entertainment.

We attended as part of a Rotary Party who had booked the entire Place. Tired decor ...and very tired food it must be said. Teppanyaki is a fun night but the quality of the food leaves a lot to be desired . It’s more of a circus to detract from the offering on the hot plate . Don’t get me wrong... it’s all very edible but represents poor value ....2 prawns and a small piece of salmon ... all trenched in lots of soya sauce ... basically it all tastes the same including the little skewers and diced up chicken ..... it’s not memorable in terms of food but we had a laugh.

Went for dinner and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Food was nice and the chef kindly made us steak teriyaki despite it not being on the menu.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Fujiyama experience, our chef- Robert- made the night memorable with his jokes and games! The food was very tasty and prepared in a timely manner. Highly recommend!

We went with a voucher as part of restaurant week. Food was amazing. Staff go above and beyond to make it a full experience. We will definitely be back :)

Me and my family visited this restaurant for a belated birthday meal, the food is absolutely amazing and the service is also excellent. This is one of my favourite restaurants in the whole of Newcastle and recommend it highly. If your looking for a amazing food cooked in front of you with some interaction this is the place for you.

We love this place. The food is great with great selection, the sushi is always fresh and I find it very reasonable, and the chef really friendly. Personally I find Fujiyama better than Hanahana x

Went there with my friends on my birthday during the lunchtime hours as we wanted to catch the star wars movie in the afternoon (birthdays being a good excuse to go!).

A while since we returned here, and really disappointed with the food. Considering the cost of the banquets the quality and taste of the food was really poor. The only food which was worth eating was the salmon, prawns and rice! All the chicken, pork & red meat was chewy, fatty and just not nice! Certainly won’t be back unless they improve. Think it’s shocking especially for the money at £29 per person ! At least the chef was nice and entertaining!

I have visited this restaurant twice, once at lunchtime and once in the evening, and the lunch was my first time in a Teppenyaki restaurant. The meal is part performance and part excellent Japanese food. I choose one of the lunchtime set menus and was seated at one of the main tables. Having finished my starter the chef appeared and proceeded to put on a wonderful show, using the spatulas, sauces and condiments to cook the food in a wonderfully entertaining style.

A regular go to haunt for me as i work near by , Once a month I have a half day and have some me time with a book , a glass of wine and the fantastic food at this restaurant. Filling , great service , and excellent value for money

Teppanyaki is always entertaining, and Fujiyama restaurant is no exception. Plenty variety, probably the best option is the banquet meal, which you can have in meat, fish or vegetarian options, so 6 of us had meat banquet and I had a fish one (with half a lobster - very nice).The teppanyaki chef cooks in front of us, juggling and commentating and generally entertaining.Very good. Sweets are a bit limited so go somewhere else eg kaspas

My friends and I went for my birthday, they were really patient as a few people turned up 30 minutes late, they were very understanding. The chefs were kind and fun as always, they're enthusiasm kept smiles on everyone's faces, the waiters were also very kind and the food was beautiful.

One downside of this restaurant: the staff (or I think the manager) who "welcomed" us upon entering the restaurant was not friendly at all. We did arrive early and no other customer was there. But this guy didn't say anything. Only gave us the menu while waiting and that's it - obviously came across rude.This is not something that I expected at a restaurant which charges at least 30 quid per person. So that's one star less for that. However, the rest of the evening was great! The chef and other waitress were very friendly and engaging throughout the night! Food was amazing. We ordered the "royale" menu which costs 26 GBP per person. The food was amazing, My favourite appetiser is the Hokkaido scallop - I can totally recommend that. The mains were also hard to beat! The teriyaki sauce on the chicken is so yummy and they poured it on your fried rice too. The chef also asked how well do you want your beef steak. They were all so tasty!! In the end the bill was 60 GBP for two people. Worth it :)

A group of 9 of us went here for a 21st birthday celebration and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Food was great and plentiful (we went for the Fujiyama Royal Menu, Steak, Chicken, Salmon and Prawns) The chef at our table, "Bond, James Bond!!" was super and really looked after everyone. I would have no problem recommending this to people who are out for a celebration, there needs to be a few of you I don't think it would really work with just a couple.

Family celebration that was good entertainment. Great selection of set menus or a la crate if you prefer. The chef was excellent and the meal tasty. Very relaxed and would go again.

Have been lots of times before and enjoyed. Came today to be met by the rudest man. Gobsmacked. Attitude right from entering was terrible. So so rude and unwelcoming. We ended up leaving before food order. He basically barked each time he spoke to us. Awful experience and such a shame. Such bad treatment I will never go back.

been here many times had 10 and 13 pound lunch plus 2 eel sushi starters and a bottle of wine all excellent bill 44 pounds do I need to say more

Restaurant at the heart of Newcastle city centre. Our food was a varied sample of Japanese dining. It was all centred around a hotplate with nine of us thoroughly entertained by one of the resident cooks, (and part time juggler !).

We went for my better half's birthday treat and it was brilliant. You're seated on tables of 8 with your own chef who cooks your order in front of you. There's loads of Interaction and chat. The food is incredible, cooked fresh and exactly to your liking. They even have chopstick with training wheels for those who can't get to grips with "adult" chopsticks lol. An all round great meal.

We took the kids after their first day back at school. The chef was great - funny and lots of egg juggling, big flames and the food was good. Great place for an entertaining meal!

Having visited here on numerous occasions, I always find the food great, the chef great, but everyone else miserable, especially the man I take to be the owner.There are so many restaurants in Newcastle, I think il give Fujiyama a miss for a while......unfortunately

I was treated to an afternoon meal at this restaurant for my birthday from my daughter and grand daughter.Absolutely fabulous time,meal was cooked right in front of us and our chef was so friendly and funny,Made the experience so good,would recommend people to try here and hopefully have a good time

I have been going to this facility for over 15 year now and even knew the team before they moved to this venue, Fujiyama always excel at a great customer service, a great choice of food and an experience that will blow your mind, the Fujiyama Royale was always a favourite of mine, and I have taken many a business party to these premises to explore and experience an animated dining experience and also family for entertainment that is second to none.

Great show. Very amusing but the food's not amazing.We first went about three years ago and had a great early lunch, when I suspect the chef had more time to concentrate on our food.We returned about two years ago and I remember thinking it wasn't quite as good as I remembered, but our visit on Friday night confirmed that. I left feeling irritated we'd spent so much money on food I could have easily cooked myself.It's great for a laugh, to take friends but you're paying for the show, not for the quality of the food. Also fun to take children roughly aged 10+ if you want to spend that much on a family dinner out.If you really want something that's closer to what you get in Japan, you should go to Dojo in Newcastle. It may not have a show, but the food's amazing. So next time I go out, I'll be going back to Dojo, not Fujiyama.

We were eight of us for a fun dinner Tepnyaki style with kids.The service was personal and the chef even asked for any food allergies. The food was excellent specially the scallops, prawns and salmon. Kids tried various tricks which kept them amused. The atmosphere was good and it was not pricey considering the good quality seafood and steak.

I really recommend this place to everyone! It is amazing. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly! When you go here you get the food cooked on a long pan in front of you and they play little games to entertain you, such as: flip the egg in the hat, crazy golf and catch the egg in your mouth! It's amazing here you should definitely try it!!!

We were invited to join a large group of friends for an evening at this Japanese Tappan Yaki restaurant. The staff were very welcoming. The food was cooked there and then on the hot steel plate and served piping hot. The interaction of the chef with the diners was friendly and very humorous. The salmon, pork, chicken, fried rice were very tasty. Great service as you can order your drinks from your table. Great atmosphere as there were so many chefs cooking for each set of 20 diners. Reasonable price for the food. The drinks are on the expensive side but having a great time was far more important.

Fantastic. Haven't been here in over 10 years but it didn't disappoint. 8 of us went on a sat lunchtime and opted for the 9 course £15 pp. thought the portions might of been smaller due to lunchtime menu being cheaper but they weren't. Food was fabulous and the staff amazing. So friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back. Thank you for making my dad's birthday special. X
