I enjoyed my lunch here, it was tasty and the staff were great, as always it is a bit pricey but the food was worth it. Comparing it to the Trafford Centre in Manchester which is a smaller outlet it fell as if it was a bigger place but today there were around 2-3 staff I could see as waiters and 4 chefs. The conveyor belt was very sparse compared to the TC one which is always fully stocked and well staffed.

This was my first time eating at the restaurant and I had a fantastic experience. Our server, Kirsten, was welcoming and knowledgeable of the food. She was attentive and refilled my Miso soup - which is fabulous. The restaurant was clean and I loved the addition of the robot!! The miso soup was amazing and I had my first ramen bowl - chicken teriyaki and this was fabulous!! Overall 10/10 & would definitely return with more of the family.

I came to Newcastle with my son and he wanted to go to yo sushi. I agreed. My child has additional needs and the night before we went through the menu deciding what to get. When we get there my son is very excited! So happy about the conveyor. Our server took our order including drinks, she then came back over to inform us they are card only. I only had cash so we had to leave. Personally I think it's disgusting that they don't accept cash and card. There is NO signs up anywhere in the store, or online so this isn't something I could of predicted. My child went into meltdown. This place will not get my custom ever again.

So much of what made Yo Sushi special has been lost. Sparkling and still water on tap at the table - Gone A call button from the waiter/waitress to make getting their attention easy - Gone The Maki rolls with crispy fish skin - Gone The regular alarm that saw all the chefs queue up to wash their hands - Gone The shout of Yo Service each time a dish was ready for serving - Gone On top of that the restaurant was short on FOH and waiting staff so customers feel invisible when they arrive and have to wait too long to be seated and shown to a table. There’s so much competition now for Japanese food so come on Yo Sushi, get back to the theatre of food that made you special.

We're regular visitors here at yo! And we love it more and more everytime we visit. I myself have some or (quite a few) severe allergies and EVERY member of staff have been so knowledgeable, asking about my allergies and handing me the tablet and where to find any extra information online! But I am always safe here and have never had any issue with cross contamination and the chefs are always made aware. Today's visit we were greeted by the lovely Madds. They were so welcoming and easy to talk to, outgoing, helpful, funny and made our experience so much better! The food is always amazing quality and they have plenty of options for me and no doubt we will be back here again soon!

An absolute disgrace! Upon entering, it took nearly 10 minutes to just be acknowledged by a member of staff. When we were eventually seated, the girl asked if we’d been there before then walked away, but never mentioned what the device was in front of us (some sort of big electronic box with our table number on it). To us, this looked like how to order. So my partner selected our table number on it, to which then, one of the chefs (to narrow it down it was a lady chef with glasses) stormed over to us and very rudely said “Can you stop touching things. Sarah, this person has just removed the table”. I was blown away at the way she treated us. She then proceeded to aggressively tell us how the conveyor belt now has to be reset because you touched this. When we asked what it was we were told it’s what was used through Covid and it’s just “assumed” that customers shouldn’t touch it. She couldn’t have made us feel more embarrassed or like children if she tried! If this was something for Covid and it’s not to be touched, then maybe take it away, turn it off or put a sign on it! Don’t shout at your customers for touching something that wasn’t explained to us. We really like Yo Sushi and our local branches in Edinburgh are so lovely, but this experience has really tainted our view on the company now. Disgusting way to treat your customers! This branch should be ashamed!

Service was bad ,although the store was almost empty, waited ages to be served or acknowledged when we wanted to pay. Loads of cooks 1 waitress. Why? This is the 2nd time we have left midway through eating. Last summer was the first. Miso, we asked for tofo twice but the waitress said she didn't have time. Although she was very polite. Sushi was stale and overpriced . Food on the belt looked unappetising and lifeless. Atmosphere was desperate. Never again 😒 pity because we used to love it. Going to make our own!

Out of the two Nudo Box stores in Newcastle, this one is my favourite, but both are nice. Sitting inside or outside the store is great, especially in the summer if you find a seat. The food is also very high quality which explains why it’s a little pricey. Every time i’ve visited the staff have been very kind too.

The only reason why I haven't rated this place "terrible" instead of "poor" was the food quality and the chef who came to our rescue. Me and my family (son and husband) came quite late in the day after visiting the Christmas Market. We were guided to our seats and sat at the belt. The waitress handed us a menu. The WiFi wasn't working so we couldn't scan the table to order anything, so asked the waitress for some drinks, resulting in a sulky waitress. This continued when we tried to order our mains and when we tried to pay our bill. The service was shocking. The glasses were stacked on top of each other resulted in one being smashed when our server decided to place them heavy handed on our table. It was a chef who came to our rescue to move them while bringing us our mains. While I understand the stress this festive period brings, we weren't abrupt or rude and felt like we were a massive inconvenience. The tables closest to the back of the restaurant could smell an awful drainage smell during our meal. Your toilets were also disgusting, disabled ones not flushing. Women's toilets not having toilet roll, soap or workable hand dryers. Was an interesting experience if you want to try something different but not worth £100+ we paid. Won't be returning.

All i can say is everything in this place is disappointing from the food to the service. Took about 10 minutes to sit us and that was because there is only 1 staff running around the floor taking orders, cleaning tables and letting customers in. You have to order online the signal is weak inside and there us no wifi!! I have to go outside to complete my order and it turns out it is not in stock and its only mid day. Took forever to get our drinks and there was no wasabi and pickled ginger placed on our table. And again i have to wait as the only staff who can help is busy helping other customers. It has really put me off and my daughters experience of enjoying sushi which she loves. The staff was apologetic when i voiced my displeasure but i think this is more management’s fault. Not going back here. If you are in Newcastle and want Japanese food, go to Dojo or St Sushi and enjoy proper Japanese food. Yo sushi is like the McDonalds of Japanese food, avoid going to this place.

I’ve always loved the food, a problem I see though when I come in is that there’s not much communication with the customers and it’s hard to get staff’s attention or general service, because staff are either very busy or do not ask if you are enjoying your meal or just general checking up on tables. Wasn’t overly busy but service was slow, the QR code wasn’t working to order hot food or drinks so took about 15 minutes to get someone’s attention. Staff seemed stressed and one of the servers was complaining they had to jump into the kitchen and just completely ignored someone’s drink order. Another member of staff was walking about with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth, was on her break but not a nice sight and then came back and sat stuffing face whilst her stressed colleagues struggled to carry on. No katsu yo-nut so ordered another one and the chef had to ask a colleague what it even was. Food was nice but very poor service
