Great laugh great food drinks a bit pricey but enjoyed it

Started off well, but ended unprofessional and a straight up con attempt. I ordered the "Land & Sea" and when the lobster arrived on the plate to be cooked I could see the lobster was comically tiny. Legitimately had bigger tiger prawns, as you'll see from the photo I took. I told the chef the lobster was too small for me, and was dismissed with "That's one of the bigger ones". He then proceeded to cook it despite my disappointment and flagging I wasn't happy with it. 🤦‍♂️ When the dish was served I said again that I was not happy with it and I went to tell someone away from the table. They said they would "sort it" but they did nothing. I asked one of them to take it away and needed a new dish for the "Land" element of the order. The chef again tried to argue with me at the table. 🤦‍♂️ To put it in to perspective, the edible bits of the lobster were the 4x penny-sized bits at the bottom of the photo and the claw which was ~3cm in length. At the end when the bill arrived they tried to charge the full £40 for the order. 🤦‍♂️ I asked for the manager who then came to argue with me about the portion. I explained that I told them multiple times and they chose to cook the lobster anyway expecting me to pay for it. The manager said "well I can take £20 off", I said that would be fine as I ate the rest. She then tried to argue with me again... I said I'm not interested in arguing and she said she wasn't arguing and then started to argue again... Couldn't make it up! 🤦‍♂️ At one point we were ready to remove the whole service charge which would have come to over £100 given the size of the bill. Incredibly unprofessional and amateur service. Truly an embarrassment vs many other Teppanyaki restaurants out there. If you're looking for good value and service you should not book an event at Hanahana.

A fantastic experience coupled with amazing food.

This is my third time visiting this restaurant. Prices have gone up. My kids enjoyed the live cooking. Food is good. There is a sitting area when you enter. Not much parking space .

Just not impressed at all. It was empty, we sat down and the staff started to dust the extractor fan and wood work. Starter was fatty and burnt. The best part was the prawns, salmon but they were on your plate alone. Once they had gone we were given a bowl of rice. That had nearly gone and then came fatty chicken and tough steak. That basically tasted of salt. My whole meal other than the rice was left. The waiter brought us the bill. Never asked if everything had been OK even though they'd cleared away plates full of inedible food. HUGELY DISAPPOINTED. I CERTAINLY WILL NEVER GO BACK

Unusual experience, but very small portions and extortionate prices, won't be going back

Fantastic experience. Eddie, our chef, was excellent. The food was delicious, especially the prawns, I don't usually like hot prawns but they were amazing.

Awesome visit here after my Mrs took me for a Birthday meal. Its been a while since I've been to Hanahana, and I don't know why. The place has lost none of its magic, superb service and amazing quality food. I wish I had gotten our chefs name to give him a special mention, as apart from the guy being great at cooking, he was charismatic and funny and certainly added to our evening. Awesome.

Not the cheapest of places but you are going for the experience as much as the food. Having said that, the food is really good and there is plenty of it. We were there for a Christmas banquet and all had a good laugh.

Fantastic atmosphere and great to see the food cooked infront of you and to be involved with it. The steak was slightly overcooked, but not enough for me to rate this place less than 5 stars. We are already looking forward to going back.

Great place to go for a fun meal out

I spent £91 for me and my wife, but they didn't even allowed us to have a separate private table and we had to share with two other man although there was free table. Thire excuse was there is one chef on that table and we can not have another chef on your table! I will never go back. Also £25 for half of very small Lobster!

Had family up from London to celebrate an early Christmas . The chefs that cook and serve the food are real characters, from flipping eggs from the hot cook plate into their chef hats, then getting you to try.....ha ha. Or getting you to catch food in your mouth...Haa. I succeeded in none of these. But the food is delicious and the menu is extensive. There is also a wide range of drinks. If you want to enjoy a meal with a difference this is the place. BUT YOU MUST BOOK.

AVisit here is as much entertainment as it is food. Thr food is cooked on a hot plate upfront of you and it is quite entertaining watching the chefs at work. You can be involved if you want and the chef during the coirse of the meal will have someone up to flip an egg I'm the air and catch it in the chef's hat or if you ate adventurous anough will launch a bit of egg at you from the hotplate for you to catch in your mouth. I've yet to see anyone not enjoy themselves here. The food is nice and by the end I always feel full, so not one of those places you go home starving. The atmosphere is brilliant and the staff very attentive unlike some places where they avoid your eye. To be honest I can't fault the place but it isn't exactly cheap with meals from £36 to £56 per person.

What a fantastic experience! I cannot believe I have not been here before! We absolutely loved this and are still thinking about it almost a week later and Im sure we will for much longer. The food was fresh and cooked in front of you by a lovely friendly chef who truly made this experience so much more memorable! We went for the lunch special at £18 a head which included salmon,steak, chicken and prawns. Just Wow! I have been telling everyone who will listen to me how they need to go and visit this place, You will not be disappointed! Thank you so much.

Have been here twice now. Both times it is to attend other people's birthday celebrations. The lunch time visit was lacklustre as hardly anyone was there and so it lacked atmosphere. The set menu was £18. The starters turn up so quickly you wonder how long the food has been sitting there. The chef then cooks the other carefully measured portions in front of you. Entertainment is watching people try to toss an egg into a chef hat. We visited again last week in the evening. It was fully booked and so there was more atmosphere. However it is so expensive. Again the starters arrived so quickly. Trying to get the chicken off the wooden skewers is hard and because the skewers are burnt, you end up eating half of them. The scallop shell has slivers of fish in it with a mayonnaise type sauce. There are 3 king prawns each. Small amount of chicken teriyaki and steak and a bowl of rice and bean sprouts. This wouldn't be too bad if you had the evening to sit and enjoy it but it is all done and dusted in 1 hour. They hover around to get you out and to be honest you might as well leave as there's nothing else doing. The entertainment is exactly the same and it's all a bit corny. It's very hard to be negative when someone else loves it but I think it's appalling to pay £35 to virtually have food shoved down your throat. It's either that or eat it stone cold with them asking every 2 minutes if you're finished. It was also very cold sitting by the door on the first table on the right. Give it a miss!

Great Teppanyaki and a great atmosphere. Set menus and the option to order from a limited sushi/fried fish menu. Overall really good but expensive. A sign of the times probably.

Absolutely love this place, been coming for years. Teppan Yaki dining is the way to go. Never had a bad meal, me and my partner had 2 banquets and the chef prepared everything perfectly, with a real touch of showmanship. Can't wait to come back!

What an awesome experience. We had family visiting so 8 of us went for my daughter’s birthday. This is the second year running we have visited for my daughter’s birthday. A couple of the staff remembered us from the previous year which was very nice. The staff were very welcoming and attentive and made my daughter feel very special for her birthday. The menu is large with lots to choose from something for everyone. The staff don’t mind explaining the menu as at first glance it looks quite confusing However, they take the time to run through things with you if need be. The way that they involve everybody in the games is fantastic. The food is all delicious and cooked just how you like it. The full experience is just really fun. We shall definitely be returning cannot wait. Thank you very much yet again.

First time I have been and it won't be the last! Lovely staff, chef and food . Anyone who wanted to have a celebration should go here, the atmosphere is fab.

Went for dinner with my wife and kids (9 and 7). They loved the theatre of it all, and being meat fans ate everything put in front of them. Great chef, very chatty and great with the kids. My son managed to catch some flying omelette in his mouth!

A great experience but unfortunately the portion sizes are utterly ridiculous for the amount of food you actually get. I paid £52 for what was effectively a mouthful of lobster meat and 3 wafer thin pieces of beef. Total bill for 6 was £335. Speaking to family today we all agreed that whilst it's entertaining, it's clear that they are very very stingy with portion sizes. I'm afraid we won't be back any time soon. I would like however to thank the Nepalese chef who was very entertaining. The photo shows ALL the food for 8 people on our table, not shown is a small bowl of rice.

Had a great night, the staff were so welcoming and friendly especially Kim our host. Service was quick and the chef was very entertaining. The food is fresh but quite small portions, curiously we got our rice at the end of the meal which I didn't understand. The one and only complaint I'd have was that it was very expensive. Our meal fro 12, 4 of whom were children was £520, and that was with a small amount of beer per adult. Certainly not value, but the entertainment was good fun.

We went here for my sons 14th birthday at lunch time. The set menu was delicious and the staff and chef did an amazing job. The chef made extra effort in making our son’s birthday special.

Had a wonderful evening at Hana Hana, very lovely surroundings, very friendly staff from the welcome, the taking our order, the chef was amazing and then on leaving a friendly goodbye too!! The food was delicious and so fresh, the king prawns my favourite, and to have it cooked in front of us was a delight!! We will certainly recommend and be back soon!!

Birthday visit for a bit of fun, probably the wrong month to go with all the Christmas functions/ do’s going on, food is not the greatest and not a lot of it, but that’s not what your paying for here, down sides: small bar area so gets very busy and cramped if big parties turn up, if your unlucky enough to be seated next to the door in the eating area can be very cold, every time door opens you get the benefit of the NE weather, wrap up warm in the winter peoples, be ready with the perfume if your going out after your visit as it gets very smoky at times and that’s what you smell of when you leave, all food cooked in front of you but all seems to taste the same, but that could be me, toilets are all down some very steep stairs so not great if you have mobility issues. Pluses: it’s fun, staff and chefs make it an entertaining experience, if you get a chef with a bit of banter even better, egg tossing into a chefs hat always a bit of fun,

Lovely meal with fabulous friends. We chose one of the set meals and enjoyed well cooked food and entertainment and banter with the chef. Saucy boy, Barbie Girl and Beefy boy enjoyed their dinner.

We called on spec as my partner fancied eating Japanese food. I must say it wasn't quite what I expected. We were seated around a cooking area with a party group and a father and daughter. It made for a pleasant evening. A couple had the sea food menu which looked amazing. Probably not so good if you are very hungry and want to eat quickly. Seemed very good for celebrations

We came in tonight and it was an amazing meal. Cooking in front of you, managed to get my nephew to attempt the egg catch... he failed, but the comedy value was priceless. Food was service in no haste so we could enjoy our meal. Looking forward to coming back
