We used to regularly come here for a bite to eat, however the last time was a while ago, the reason for this is a few of the dishes we enjoyed had been removed from the menu, eg pumpkin kareoke, proper love this but I was gutted when it wasn't there! It hasn't yet me off as there are a few other dishes we do enjoy but it's made the experience a little less exciting than usual.

I am a regular at yo sushi at the Metro Center in Gateshead so whilst in Newcastle thought we would pop in, the difference between the two premises is like chalk n cheese. The set up in Fenwicks is just wrong and the sushi its self was bland, choice was limited to a small number of dishes, I appreciate this was blue Monday which in its self is a rip off as all the dishes offered are the cheaper ones anyway, all in all we left feeling dissapointed and will not be returning.

Yo! Sushi in Fenwick has been busy every time we've visited but we've always been seated quickly - no more than five minutes and usually less. We like the place because the staff are very friendly, the service is good and we enjoy the food. The choice of foods was as good this time as it always has been before and, when we wanted a dish that was slightly different from that on the menu - because of an allergy - it was produced quickly and without fuss. The only problem with the restaurant, and it's through no fault of the staff or concept, is that it's too easy to eat more than one intended. It'll probably stay that way; I hope so.

Decided to come here as my partner loves sushi and I promised him I would try it! Was not disappointed at all! The whole experience was really pleasant. I love the idea of being able to pick what you want when you want so there's no waiting around really. You can even order food that's not on the belt and they cook it for you really quickly. I tried my best at the raw tuna and the raw salmon but still stand by that it's just not for me, there is something for everyone though! I enjoyed the raw beef and the beef curry ramen was really nice!! The whole time the waitress fussed over my baby who loved the attention, they gave me something to cool her bottle down no bother and she even got a balloon!! Haha! Brilliant customer service, definitely not disappointed!!! Will be back soon!!!

This is a great place to eat. Food is fresh, accompaniments are freely available and unlimited, hot food is freshly cooked to order, staff are great too. Every time I go into Newcastle I wonder if I should try somewhere else for lunch, but every time I seem to be drawn irresistibly to Yo in Fenwicks. BTW to those who complain about the food quality, just ask for replacements of food not hot enough or fish you deem not fresh enough, don't rush to criticise online. It was very busy and we did have to wait ten minutes to be seated but once sat the service was great. The food is pretty standard for all these chain of restaurants. However, here the manager seemed to be taking charge and asked us a couple of times if we were ok. We liked the sunken condiments in the table not seen that before and was a little different. Great staff, first time, couldn't fault the food nor staff, and wrote the waiter a great review (something I'm fussy about doing unless deserved), I even got a call from the manager to say thank you. Second time I had a long and embarrassing nose bleed, which again the staff were helpful, brought me wet and dry tissue and a pot to put it in. Again food was lovely.

We chose a busy day to visit Yo! Sushi but, even then, we were seated within about three minutes of asking for a slot/table. Service was generally polite, pleasant and quick. I love the conveyor belt system that's used in many Japanese-style restaurants but the belt here seemed to have a wider selection than most that I've seen. The food was good, with excellent flavours, and the portions seemed quite large, even though they are obviously worked out quite carefully. The meal wasn't cheap but it was good value for money, which is what we were after.

This is what you expect from the Yo! Sushi chain and I've eaten at quite a few. The difference is this in on the ground floor of a department store and not a stand-alone restaurant. The conveyor belt / central food preparation area is the tried and tested concept and paying according to the colour and number of dishes you have at the end makes things simple as long as you either know or it has been explained. The service this visit was a bit slow but they were busy and the experience overall was as good as ever. It looked okay at first, little did I know ... We were told extremely briefly how to use the restaurant ( conveyer belt system) IT WAS NOT CLEAR that what were written as prices on top of the boxes were actually 'times', so I ended up paying twice the amount I expected. Service was slow, even though there were buttons to alert staff members. The food was very basic, fairly tasteless, overly pretentious and over priced. After feeling like I HAD BEEN TRICKED because of the unclear prices, I decided I had to say something. The man that I spoke to about the pricing was fairly rude, and not interested that I wasn't satisfied with my meal. I guess the customer is always wrong here, save your money.

I've always found the service to be good, sometimes it's better than others though. Sometimes the staff to look rather bored but really that doesn't bother me. As for the food.... Of course its never gonna be the most authentic but I wouldn't expect it to be. That said it is very nice and I don't recall ever being disappointed by anything I've had there. As for the atmosphere it tends to depend on how busy Fenwick itself is however it's a place where I don't feel awkward dining alone (unfortunately none of my friends or family like sushi or they are unwilling to even try it).

This showed in the selection of food on the belt... about a third of which was sweet... the water taps were not in operation and the staff in the galley area looked bored. We just wanted a snack (just as well) and each took 2 orange bowl dishes. The portions were tiny, even by Yo Sushi standards. We ordered a small beer and a diet coke. There was nothing redeeming to say about the food nor the experience. Just over 20 quid for what even with the two bowls of food combined could only be described as a modest size starter. Only plus side was we god a booth without having to wait!

Yo sushi is yo sushi, so you go there to eat over priced and not so fresh sushis, which is fine most of the time. However the service at the place is very poor, managers and other waiting staff were standing at the middle chatting and it was impossible to catch attention of any of them. While using the attention button, I was told to reset it myself, I don't mind doing it if I was asked politely and not ordered to do so.Also ordered 5 salmon sashimi, suddenly started going round the belt after I ordered it so they just decided not to bring me my sashimi and I had to get them myself. Not a big deal but could have came and tell me and not left me waiting and wondering if someone going to bring me the sashimi or not.The one in metro centre is a lot better, best to avoid.

Last 3/4 times I've been in Newcastle I've only ever had time to order and takeaway from yo! sushi. I remember going to Yo! sushi many years ago, as my first 'Japanese' restaurant. So I've always known the brand and always known its really good! So i don't have to think twice where ever i see a yo! sushi! Last few times we've been Newcastle we've been going to the yo sushi in the Fenwicks. Foods still up to standard but i find the staff very angry and miserable. I also dont understand as to why the different members of staff wear different uniforms there either. I only mention this because on our last visit there was a girl on the till with the normal yo sushi uniform on and what appeared to be 3 other members of staff wearing just what ever they wanted! As we were waiting for our takeout two other guys were also waiting. The girl on the till already had a face on her, was prepping the bags for when the food was ready. The guy in front of us, order was ready and she didnt even hand the bag to him. She just sorta went, there. When he had a look in the bag he couldnt see his chopsticks, so mentioned this to her. She rolled her eyes said something like 'they're in there' and didnt bother so show him or offer him another set. It was all just a bit rude to be fair! The rating i give is just for the food. Im just happy we dont have the time to sit in and have to tolerate this attitude! Such a shame as the chefs looked as if they were having a whale of a time and the food is actually really good from there. Good enough to take from Newcastle to Carlisle!

Me and my boyfriend used to be regular diners here as the food was excellent and we usually got good service, in fact we sometimes got little discounts as staff recognised us as regulars. However, this time we came in to the restaurant at 7 and were told it shut at 8 and last orders were at half 7. That was fine as we weren't planning on being there long. We sat down and made an order straight away with a boy who has served us before and always been a bit miserable, but the rest of the experience always made up for it so we overlooked this. By quarter past, other customers had left and we were told it was last orders. Although we were told half past, this was fine as we didn't want to order anything. I ate off the belt while my boyfriend waited for his order. Then every single member of staff started packing up and cleaning the restaurant, it was so rude -to the point where they were cleaning the backs of the chairs we were sitting on! I work in a shop and I know how annoying lingering customers at closing time can be but this was just beyond rude - and still half an hour before closing! We started to notice at they had packed away everything in the kitchen and weren't making my boyfriends order, even the boy who took our order was paying no attention. So as we were in a hurry we just got the bill, and the girl who gave it to us made it very clear she wanted us to leave quickly as she was very abrupt and rude, and she didn't give us a receipt, probably because there is a feedback page on it and she knew that we had received terrible service! It's such a shame as we used to love dining there regularly but this has totally spoiled it for us, we haven't returned since and won't be again. By the looks of other reviews on here it seems the customer service has gone downhill for some reason and its such a shame.

It is very difficult to catch their attention if you want to order a special dish or ask for the bill.Real shame, as that spoils the experience.

I stood around for what seemed like an eternity before I was seated, but once I sat down the service was fine. If you know the routine here, you know how it goes. Lots of tasty dishes pass in front of your eyes and you pick up what you want. Food is coloured coded, each plate has a different colour and this relates to a price. If you want something cooked there is a button beside the condiments, and if you press the button a member of staff takes your order. I defy anyone above a certain age not to think of The Generation Game, or a cuddly toy while surveying the conveyor belt :0) I thought it was expensive, but I did eat quite a lot, so keep an eye of the colour of the plates when you are choosing. But food is good and the staff are very friendly. This is a relaxed and informal environment perfect for enjoying with a friends.

Visited yo sushi in fenwicks again. Nice quality food and speedy service. If you want to spend more time and have a chat with your dining companions I would recommend that you ask for a booth, otherwise as in most of the yo sushi places you will be sitting side by side which makes conversation difficult if there are more than two of you in your party.I'm not actually a fan of sushi but there are lots of hot dishes available which are very good. Also there are set menus for diners who are new to this type of food. The only disappointment for me at the fenwicks one is that they do not serve tempura, which I had at yo sushi in London and really enjoyed. Some good healthy options here too.

The Northern versions especially in the Metro Centre are very different to the London versions, have a look at my title. I will explain, because London has a high volume of asian tourists with discerning appetites they use a lot of raw fish and present some interesting food. Most of what is on offer here you can make at home. Expensive and poor.

It's a great family place or just for the two of you when you've been shopping. Reasonably priced, lots of choice, and a people watching experience. Our teenagers can't get enough of the place and it's fabulous for attracting youngsters because of the conveyor belt! Staff are very friendly. Certainly worth a visit - as is Fenwick!

We've been to YO! Sushi at Fenwicks a number of times and we were never disappointed. It's a nice place to sample different dishes. Occasionally, the selection on the conveyor belt hasn't been that varied, but you can order off the menu, and the staff will prepare dishes fairly quickly. Dishes are less expensive all around on Blue Mondays, so this is a great time to try some of the generally pricier dishes.

I'm a dedicated Yo! fan and always go to Yo! for a treat. On the occasions I have been to Fenwick's Yo! I have enjoyed it very much. However my most recent visit was marred by slow service: the belt lacked many of the best plates, and waiting staff were slow to answer requests to order - despite a plethora of staff milling around.Nevertheless, the food was its usual tasty self. I know people complain about Yo!s prices - but I reckon it's always worth it!!

My partner and I always enjoy Yo Sushi, Newcastle was no exception. It was minus temperatures outside but just minutes after being greeted and seated we were warming ourselves with Miso Soup. The staff were smiley and friendly, the salmon sushimi extremely fresh and the service what I've grown to expect from our visits to Glasgow and Edinburgh Yo's. My favourite as always is the Duck Gyoza, the Miso sauce which accompanies it sends my tastebuds crazy. My only complaint is there are no toilets in the restaurant, and none at all located on the entire floor. It's probably Fenwick's who are to blame for this though.

Quick bite before a long drive home - had never visited a YO! Sushi before, so thought I would give it a try.Despite being extremely busy with after-work crowds and Xmas shoppers, I was seated immediately. Menu explained, drinks and hot food order taken, and then there's almost hypnotic way the wee plates trundle around the belt...Waiting staff seemed to be super-capable, despite how busy the place was. Hot food order came within minutes which I followed with a few items from the belt, which appeared to have pretty much everything from the menu travelling by - certainly had no problems spotting something on the menu, then finding it quickly on the belt. The clean surroundings, easy to understand menu (great for folk who aren't too used to Japanese food or who only want certain items rather than a larger meal) and fast service all help the place to build a nice atmosphere - the pricing doesn't, and it's easy to spend £20 and still feel hungry afterwards.

I keep giving Yo Sushi the benefit of the doubt but every time I return I am disappointed. The food is average and overpriced. In Newcastle today the Pumpkin Karoke tasted of over-used cooking oil rather than pumpkin. I've stopped going in Manchester as there are better and cheaper alternatives.
