I rarely do reviewsā¦but felt the need to give a massive shout out for the landlord, landlady and community at The Star Inn. What exceptional hospitality, fascinating conversations and genuine community spirit that I havenāt experienced quite like this for years, possibly decades! The landlords are clearly passionate about the traditional role of the public house in, not only the local beers and home cooked food but perhaps most importantly in connecting the community. In an age more often associated with isolation and division this approach is rare and a beacon of light which I wish I could replicate in my corner of Kent.
In chatting with the locals (many who have been drawn to this corner of Suffolk from other counties and countries) The Star Inn seems to be the common connection. One well travelled customer told me āThis place is unique. I think it may just be the best pub in the world.ā

Just fantastic hidden gem, great food and mega friendly staff (who make an awesome pims)! Food is classic pub grub but then very modern on specials board. We had cod loin with crayfish and it was A+++ do visit this out of the way classic British pub!
I stayed there 23rd for wedding anniversary, well itās living on the past , fine dinning restaurant , well thatās a joke they have no fine dining, It started with the room we walked in thought thatās nice 4 poster but there was cobwebs and dust on the bed , went to the bathroom there was cobwebs everywhere, there is no excuse for that , the teabags werenāt enough for 2 people , they hadnāt touched the room for I donāt know how long , There was a knock on the door had to order the meal I was very disappointed a choice of 4 meals , if we hadnāt booked there was nowhere to go without driving , Saturday they were closed for food
Really lovely food
limited staff member so service slow but worth the wait
The restaurant is do dimly lit everyone using phone light to be able to read menu so maybe candle of lamps placed would benefit
Nestling atop the seafront cliffs in the Spa Gardens is this delightful victorian building that now accommodates a cafe/bistro at ground level. You can sit inside or out, although the outdoor seating would benefit from an upgrade.
The small menu is perfectly formed, although much to my dismay breakfast was unavailable from 1130 - why places do this, I have no idea.
Rather fine cheese scones and other baked items are available along with good coffees and a range of teas
The young staff team did a great job and the place is clean and tidy and is a great place to rest after a long walk through the much improved gardens.
I'll certainly return!
What a brilliant location! Great food and friendly service. Superb value for money. I am not a member but have been a few times with my family. Pizza and a drink deal is great value. What a gem of a find. We will definitely be returning. Fore!!!
