We happened upon this gem of a pub during our overnight stay in Shottisham. We ate here for dinner and although the pub wasn't very busy, the few people inside were very friendly and the landlady was welcoming. We had the fish and chips and were not disappointed. The meal filled the large plate to overflowing. The fish was delish. White flakey fish and a deliciously light batter. The local Ale, Sutton Ale was lovely

Visited in August after visiting the area for a number of years and never seeing this place open, so this year we had to go in when we noticed it open. So glad we did, Maxine and Carl were so welcoming, service was spot on, the place was absolutely spotlessly clean, the locals really friendly and atmosphere was great. We had breakfast cooked by Maxine and it was absolutely amazing, fresh, delicious and such good value for money. It became our local for the holiday and can’t wait to return in July.

We found this little pub whilst lost on the way to a campsite. Such a warm friendly welcome and so helpful in advising us how to get to our destination. We came back another day for food and a desperate plea to charge a phone. Again the best welcome and service from staff, and friendly locals. Lovely classic pub food and nice selection of beer, and also dog friendly. Will definately be back when we are next in the area. Thank you Sutton Plough!

We needed a venue for light refreshments following the funeral of Flo my mother-in -law who lived in Shottisham. From start to finish we were offered a clear welcome, affordable menu within what we asked for that was both delicious and well presented. All our guests commented on how nice the buffet was. Thanks to the Maxine & the Plough team, we would happily recommend your pub, based on our experience today.

We had Sunday roast lunch. It was served carvery style with a choice of beef or gammon. There were seven choices of vegetables, all perfectly cooked, noting especially the caramelised carrots and the creamy cauliflower cheese. The roast potatoes and gravy were both super tasty and as good as I’d make at home. In short, it was a fantastic meal and only two of us managed pudding which was also home made (crumble). The service was really friendly and personal. Although we had to wait for the carvery to be refreshed that wasn’t a problem. It was one of the best Sunday roasts I’ve eaten anywhere and reasonably priced at £13.95. The decor is the only thing that lets the place down - it’s oddly plain and characterless with some bizarre and cheap looking artwork. But don’t let it put you off - more than made up for by the lovely staff and amazing food.

We went to the plough on the spur of the moment, and very glad we did. It is very different to the last time we visited (about 12 months ago), the landlady has clearly made a very big impact on the place, it's much cleaner and brighter and a lovely friendly welcome. The menu is classic good home cooked food with a few twists which makes a nice change from some 'Gastro Pubs'. We enjoyed our meal and look forward to returning as soon as we can.

Unique pub and friendly staff. The lasagne was nice but the garlic mushroom starter was somewhat lacking (half cooked mushrooms sat in a Puddle of their own juices with raw garlic cloves thrown in for good measure). Was hard to tell who worked there due to no uniforms of any sort. Was served by a young friendly boy who was unsure of what drinks they actually had. Wait times between courses were excessive for what you received. With a few minor changes this would be a lovely place to revisit, maybe some kind of uniform to identify staff and table and chairs that are less café and more restaurant.

We fell upon the Sutton Plough by chance one Saturday afternoon as we were staying in the local area. We were really hungry and asked the landlord ( Vic ) if he was still doing lunch ? He said lunch was finished however he said he would never see anyone go hungry and made us a lovely sandwich of our choice. We got chatting to the barmaid ( Tracey ) she was telling us of the amazing dinners that Vic and the other chef cook, so there was only one thing to do, we booked for dinner. During the afternoon we tried a few of the real ales that were on offer from the casks and one or two from the bottles ( he has a great choice of real ales ) I particularly liked the "Windy Gap " which is a carbonated ale from Ireland that was a delight. We had some great conversation with the locals who made us feel like we were local ourselves. The fire was roaring the welcome was great and the food at dinner was fantastic I had the T Bone steak with all the trimmings ( Vic needs to invest in larger plates as the steak was hanging over the edge ) They also have a great and varied selection of wine and not at silly prices, I think we paid about £10 for a bottle with dinner ( very reasonable ) So to summarise, if you are in this neck of the woods go to the " Sutton Plough " Woodbridge The landlord is welcoming and knowledgeable about his beers, the food is fantastic and great value, the locals make you feel at home, and the fire is roaring in the hearth. What a great pub but remember " GO THERE HUNGRY if you are going for dinner and enjoy.

How can you go wrong? On Tuesday last my wife and I went to our local, the Plough Inn. From Tuesday to Thursday they have two meals from their classic range for £10. Brilliant! I had the steak and Guinness pudding whilst my wife had fish and chips. My first thought was that the portions would be cut, but no, not at all. My wife couldn't eat all her fish and chips, described by a fellow diner as Moby with chips. No such problem with my pudding, by far the best pudding I have had since my Mum used to cook them when I was a kid. You just cant beat this! 1 starter, 2 mains, 2 pints and 2 Gin and Tonics and still change from £30. Friendly staff, very welcoming and all round good venue. Oh! And on Thursday night you can get 2 steaks with all the trimmings, complete with a bottle of house wine for £25. Take a tip from me, best to book!

Chose this pub for evening meal as the menu on internet looked appetizing with a variety of choices. However do not be fooled by this as the pub has recently changed hands and the menu is now no longer current. There were no specials left for the main course leaving a limited choice from the menu. Starters and sweets had better choice than the mains. Staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was home cooked, plentiful and tasty. Menu therefore needs updating and the pub would score higher.

We had been walking nearby and wanted a simple evening meal. We were very much welcomed, and the staff treated us well throughout, even though they were very busy with a 40th Birthday celebration in one of the many rooms. They ensured we ordered early (to get ahead of the group) and we were served rapidly. At the time they had a Tues-Thurs 6-9pm deal on ("Old Time Favourites" part of the menu), which meant our ham, egg & chips, and sausage, mash, gravy and leaks, plus two good drinks, came to a total of just under £17 - a deal indeed! The food was reasonable, although the mash was rather liquid. but plenty of it. Don't be put off by folk welcoming you when you go in - the welcome is genuine. If coming from the Woodbridge direction, the pub is early on in the village on the right, so don't miss it.

We visited this lovely cafe last Friday as a group of 5 men who work at the port. We have tried many food establishments in Felixstowe, and this is the best we've had so far. The young lady who took our order was friendly as was the lady at the till when we paid. We all had a 10 piece breakfast, and the quality of the ingredients was excellent & very good value for money. I also had a chocolate brownie, which was very tasty. We will be returning this Friday for another breakfast, 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
