Special afternoon tea for an 85th birthday. Great service and an abundance of delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones. The cheese scone with plum chutney is very yummy. Different seasonal flavours contributed to an excellent afternoon tea and celebration.

So disappointed with our Sunday lunch on our last day in Aldebough. We both had porchetta which is a particular favourite of ours and the whole reason for booking. So instead of succulent pork loin rolled in pork belly and stuffed with herbs we were presented with just pork belly rolled around a tasteless stuffing. The dining room had all the character of a motorway services and the serving staff, although sweet enough, were rather clueless. A request for a glass of Rioja resulted in blank looks and after repeating three times we had to point it out on the wine list. It may be we were unlucky as other reviews here have been good but for us, a very disappointing experience unlike some excellent meals we had enjoyed over the week in Aldebough.

We enjoyed the food here, but the service let it down. The pork belly snack in soy sauce was delicious, as was the smoked duck breast with orange, pickled walnut, and raspberries. My chicken supreme was tasty but was stuffed with olive tapenade rather than served with a tarragon and cream sauce, which is more traditional. My wife enjoyed the seafood platter but was very disappointed that they didn't have amaretto and the Irish coffee was served with hardly any cream floating on it - the milk froth thst was on it dissolved in a few minutes and we had to ask for more. When we received the bill, it was for 4 covers, didn't include anything we had ordered and was more expensive than ours should have been. After some detective work, we established that the four people on the table next to us had paid our bill.

Very good welcome and helpful staff, lots of stairs to the rooms but fine for us, and our room was very well equipped and immaculate, with a great shower, and comfortable bed. A hot summer in 2024 and nice that the room was provided with a fan. Brasserie was lovely and food can not be faulted, was lovely and well presented. Breakfast was plentiful, very good value and cooked to order (no buffet). We would return and perhaps eat in the Indian as it smelt wonderful. Thank you, fully recommend to anyone visiting Aldeburgh with prime seafront position and sea views.

Food is excellent: we stayed full board. There is a choice of the Brasserie (gourmet pub food) or Sea Spice (gourmet Indian). The Brasserie was closed on the Tuesday and Wednesday of our visit, so if Indian food is not your favourite, best check when booking.

We were recommended to this retaurant by another hotel in Aldeburgh. The meal was generally good, I had the catch of the day which was sea bream and was well cooked, but my wife's main course of pulled beef was over cooked and dry. The starters were very good. The large room is probably better suited to summertime, and lacked warmth both in the sense of ambience but also because the doors into the street did not fully close and made it very draughty whenever anyone used this entrance. After a complaint from another table a memeber of staff closed the outer wooden doors which solved the problem. The service was geberally very good and the meal represented good value for money.

There's not much in the way of ambience here - flatly lit with large windows looking out onto winter darkness so not a place for an intimate dinner. Some of our menu choices were good but the fish and chips were a big disappointment: grey probably pre-frozen coley in a restaurant in a fishing village? The menu deliberately does not identify the fish... the chef needs to up his game in Aldeburgh.

A smart welcoming entrance brings you into the main bar area of the restaurant. This was quite lively and buzzing on the evening we dined - this gave a really good first impression. The decor is modern and smart without being minimalist. There is also good sound management as even with a busy bar and restaurant we didn't feel overwhelmed with noise and echo as we often do with poorly (cheaply?) designed establishments. Our booking was for five, three adults and two teenagers. One maintains a plant based diet. All found the menu to have a wide variety and so it wasn't long before we had all made our selections and ordered from the friendly waitress. Drinks came quickly - with the large bar there is a good selection of wines, beers, gins and whiskey - I managed to sample three of the four aforementioned drinks during our meal! Price-wise we would say its mid-high end. We all really enjoyed our meals as well as the vibe/ambience of the evening and look forward to visiting again when we next visit Aldeburgh.

We had stopped visiting this restaurant about two years ago because we were fed up with the poor service for dessert and bill paying, but we decided to try again, thinking that error must have been sorted. However, after a nice starter and main course we asked for the dessert menu and waited... Our waiter seemed to have gone off service and nobody was interested in looking after us. After considerable time and several other customers were served we decided to give up. The manager reduced our bill, but I would have rather paid for a full meal and received one. Oh well, I suppose we will try again in another two years.

Main courses were good but we were very disappointed with pudding and service. Panacotta desert was tiny and an even smaller portion (dot on a plate) of ice cream came with it. We also ordered a bread and butter pudding - waitress brought out a summer fruit pudding instead, we pointed out that that pudding was not even on the menu! Waitress initially insisted it was what we ordered and offered no apology or alternative. When paying she admitted the menu had changed but again dealt with our query badly. The other waitress did offer an apology at this point - but it seemed a bit late.

Booked as part of a day out for Father's Day with our teens. Really disappointing and overpriced meal, I'm afraid to say. Friendly, if uninterested service, uninspiring menu, limited gluten free choices and generally underwhelming. 16 year old son left his roast potatoes....unheard of. Daughter's mussels looked as it they have been microwaved - dry and weird texture with a very greasy sauce. Pudding completely overpriced - I had a piece of panacotta that would have struggled to cover a credit card. Not good enough for the £140 bill that included no wine.

Food was actually ok and a decent price. For me the lighting was a bit harsh and the piped music was pretty random moving from indie pop to various forms of jazz and at one point I was convinced the guy behind us had a very odd ring tone. Real problem was the service, staff serving were clearly not trained restaurant staff, forgetting wine list problems opening and serving wine, neglecting to serve breads until reminded and majorly closing the bill and delivering bill without being asked. Appreciate it was a Thursday but management need to up their game here.

As part of a long weekend away, we ate as a couple here on a busy Friday night. We kicked off by taking advantage of the '2 cocktails for £10' (although the normal £8 each didn't seem too exorbitant) which was a great way to start the evening. Opting out of starters, we ordered pork belly and pan fried sea bass. Both were absolutely bang full of flavour and the bottle of rioja not bad either! Deserts of sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownies were equally flavoursome.

The roasted veg sharing plater we shared was nice but they forgot to bring bread so it didn't seem like much for £8. The chips were raw on the inside and for some reason arrived a long time before the main meal. The lamb was nice but was processed into a cylinder shape which wasn't what I expected from a shoulder of lamb. But overall the lamb meal tasted nice enough but you can get better elsewhere for the price. Again, when we wanted to pay it took so long we had to go to the till. The food was well cooked, though not enormous portions, and the menu wasn't huge. Having said that there were a variety of choices but I would have had difficulty if I'd been there a few days. For example, I was served a chunk of coconut ice which I found strange. However, the scone was lovely. The service was slightly slow. The atmosphere was lovely. Overall, I wasn't pleased.

Good, well presented, food. All items similarly priced though fewer seafood options than I would have expected in this seaside town with local fishermen. Vegetarian options were fairly limited (one).

From breakfast to dinner the food is delicious. The lions share breakfast is superb and the smoked prawn starter was to die for...may try to make these myself.

I had a wonderful Mother’s Day lunch at Brasserie Bleue with my husband, daughter and son-in-law. Every member of staff was friendly, welcoming and efficient. The food was delicious especially the giant yorkshire puds!

It was Tuesday night on a cold March evening in Aldeburgh. It was also my wife’s birthday! Where to go? I wanted a little more than pub grub, we weren’t dressed for a posh place, and We didn’t want to sit by ourselves in the restaurant. The other restaurants were pretty deserted so we decided to go with Brasserie Bleue, even though we hadn’t looked at any reviews. We were pleasantly surprised.

We enjoyed supper at the brasserie with friends while staying in the hotal. The staff were welcoming & attentive & gave 150% & the food was superb...delicious & beautifully presented. We also enjoyed breakfast the following morning where the staff were equally wonderful. The views also added to our experience. Well done White Lion...be proud of yourselves

To my knowledge Brasserie Bleue is the only place in Aldeburgh to that serve this delicious, melting cheese. Grilled at the table, Raclette is a favourite dish for winter months and will definitely warm you up if you've been for a bracing walk along the English coastline in less than favourable weather. It's a good idea to book in advance to make sure you can eat this particular dish as it's served at the table but the chefs go all out with the accompaniments. Charcuterie and potatoes are the traditional pairing to this unctuous cheese. At Brasserie Bleue they go one step further and also add, pickles, bread, salad and a generous portion of the most delicious locally sourced Suffolk ham. Pure heaven in a warm and welcoming environment.

We arrived and had cocktails in the bar followed by a meal in the restaurant. My husband chose the set Burns night menu which was exceptional value at £22 and I had boeuf bourguignon followed by poached clementines, ginger biscuit and maple mascarpone. All of the food was excellent and I thought the clementines desert was inspired. We would definitely go back.

Visited here for Sunday lunch and it has a bright modern interior which is lovely. There is a bar section which leads through into the main restaurant. A band were playing and great to hear live music. Tables are fast food style and a tablecloth would have been nice, but the overall ambiance was good. Plenty of waiting staff who were attentive for the most part. We all decided on a main and a dessert so didn’t have a starter. We had three different dishes for the main which appeared only about five minutes after ordering them. We were given a jug of water but at no point were asked about drinks or offered a wine list and had to ask for one when the mains arrived.

Been coming here for years as its just a good pub but it annoying as it could be great. The location is truly superb but the small things that let it down. It's just lack consistency.

A delightful and delicious meal for my birthday last night (19 October 2024). The waiter Carinina - I suspect I have got their name wrong so sorry - was so friendly and good at their job it made the meal a delight. I recommend the trio of fish starter - crevettes salmon and brandon. My sister had the duck bonbons which was nice but the salad was undressed. My mother’s brill with smashed new potatoes was very good too.

My mother had 10 days respite care here recently. What a place. Every single staff member was genuinely caring, pleasant & professional - to her & me. Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, lots of activities and the food was reported as excellent. Well managed and maintained. Absolutely recommend.
