Very pleasant staff and the accommodation is extremely good. The gardens are always maintained to a high standard and improvements are always being made. The carers can’t be faulted from the care aspect to constantly walking around with a smile and bubbly attitude making you and the residents at ease. However the only thing what lets down is the staff could be trained better on the phones with understanding to transfer calls and the time aspect of waiting at the door to be let in.

Every time I visit Alice Grange the staff are so welcoming. The entertainment and activities is second to none and I can't praise the team enough for keeping my Aunt happy content. The gardens are lovely and relaxing to sit in and so much thought has been put into the rainbow garden. We love to sit the cafe area to have coffee and cake all made at the home making it a real home from home.

I can not praise this beautiful care home enough! Not only is it stunning to look at inside and out, but it is immaculate. Feels very homely, not clinical or sterile as I imagined. The residents are extremely well looked after, spoken to like people with feelings and emotions. So many different activities too - every single day! Super impressed. Lots of pluses with this home, in-house hairdressers, good nutritious food, light and airy. You can see the residents are looked after like they are in a 5 star hotel. I hope I could come to a place like this in due course. I felt very welcomed as a visitor, given a lovely, extensive tour. All questions answered, very reassured. I would highly recommend this care home. I would have peace at mind and security having a loved one here. Thank you for letting me view this home.

As a frequent returning group of 7 friendly singers called the Colneis singers, we always enjoy coming back to sing to the residents of this warm and welcoming Care Home where we are always greeted with a lovely welcome from Penny when we arrive. Penny always arranges a fantastic group of residents to come and watch us sing and they all join in along with other members of staff singing and sometimes dancing to our songs from the 60s 70s 80s 90s and newer. The hospitality is second to none and we always look forward to our intermission where we are surprised with the lovely treats of cake, coffee or tea. All the staff are very friendly and the residents are always pleased to see us again and always thank us personally at the end of our second set of songs. We are next singing at Alice grange on the 12th of August and really looking forward to it. Thanks to Penny and the team for the lovely hospitality we receive and we can’t wait to be back again. All the best from the Colneis singers.

Alice Grange is a fabulous environment for my mum. She enjoys healthy freshly cooked meals by the chef who is very flexible for individual needs and preferences. The premises boasts comfortable well maintained rooms and mum has her familiar cabinets and all the bits n bobs they contain to connect her to family memories and special occasions. Alice Grange has a beautiful garden. The fabulous carers and activities staff are very committed to giving great care and forge close relationships with residents and their families. Mum is more communicative and responsive and loves her new home and 'family'. We can't praise Alice Grange enough for the care my mum is receiving.

Gardens & surroundings have improved each time we return. I’m so impressed with facilities & quality of care that mums sister is now a permanent resident. No question about not recommending to anyone or their family who need a helping hand later in life. And the Friday coffee morning are always popular with residents & family- plus the delicious cakes help!!🧁

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Barchester, Alice Grange Kesgrave for the past 10 months, and I can't express enough how grateful we are for the exceptional care she has received. Since joining the Alice Grange 'family,' we have seen remarkable improvements in her overall welfare. Her health has significantly improved, thanks to the well-balanced and nutritious diet provided by Chef. She has become much more engaged and active, frequently participating in activities and socialising with other residents, which has done wonders for her mental well-being. The staff at Alice Grange are truly exceptional. From the carers to the domestic staff, the chef, and the maintenance team, everyone is wholeheartedly dedicated to the welfare of the residents. Their compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail make all the difference. It is clear that they genuinely care about each resident and go above and beyond to ensure their comfort and happiness. Alice Grange is more than just a care home; it is a supportive community. We are thankful for everything they have done for mother-in-law.

Our mother stayed here for 3 weeks respite care at very short notice. We were very impressed by the level of care Mum received. The staff were all aware of her needs and clearly had her well-being as their priority. They kept us informed at all times regarding Mum's care and when we had queries or questions regarding anything they acted on this straight away. One nurse in particular went above and beyond and called us to update us on Mum's condition following some concerns we had about her adapting to the home. We were also impressed with how carefully they controlled visiting times and Covid testing procedures to keep everyone safe despite measures being dropped by the government. Alice Grange is a beautiful setting with so much space for residents and staff and visitors. It is a calm place and there are so many activities for those staying to be involved in. My sister sampled the food when she visited Mum and said it was excellent. A huge thank you to all the staff, especially Raciel, Grace and Rashmi and Alice who was on duty when we visited yesterday when it was very busy! The family of Carol Sims

This is a lovely place. Makes a great impression from the very beginning, and trust me, due to my work I have been in many care homes around. Straight from the entrance you can feel comfortable, like at home. All staff kind and friendly, home is well equipped, has variety of activities to offer, which includes group and individual activities, in the home or in the community. There is absolutely lovely and spacious, sealed so perfectly safe. Lots of flowers, lovely bushes, places to sit and watch birds. Rooms are spacious and everywhere is spotless clean. All rooms have huge windows and/or glassed door if that's the ground floor. And, Alice Grange has also double rooms so couples/partners/friends/family can still live together. Food is variable with daily menus and choices are available at every mealtime. Food looks always fresh and like a good quality meal with plenty of veg selection. Drinks available on requests throughout the day, along with snacks, biscuits and fruits. It is so brilliant to see place like this with people very into their caring role, looking after others with kindness, politeness, having hearts in the right place. So if you are looking for a place for somebody you love, Alice Grange should be on the top of your to go list.

Clean, spacious and welcoming I visited Alice Grange as I am looking for a potential placement for my father. I was greeted by the activities coordinator, and after a strict covid check and sanitiser / mask was shown around. My impressions are that the home is very clean throughout with large bedrooms and social /activity space , which allows residents many options of places to sit, read, take part in activities, dine and listen to music . This home has a lovely activities programme which includes a clear love of music… the are pianos and jukeboxes on all floors , with a variety of musical instruments. The building is very light inside with good level connections to the beautiful gardens, and balconies to the upper floors. There is a strong sense of the residents connection with nature , through gardening , greenhouse and wildlife talks and activities.there are real flowers , chosen by the residents throughout, including on dining tables which have clean linen cloths and quality cutlery. The menu provides a wide choice of options to suit all residents needs Overall I was very impressed with the home, and the friendly and kind staff that I saw interacting with the residents

I am an entertainer (vocalist) and having performed at Alice Grange found the staff at the home to be very nice and appeared to have a great relationship with the residents. Having performed at many homes it really helps when the staff get involved with the entertainment as it really does make the occasion more enjoyable for the residents and all concerned. At Alice Grange the activity staff and carers were great and helped to make it a really valuable experience for all. At the beginning, during and after the show it was evident how the staff and residents enjoy each others company and how they also like a good level of banter with each other. On the subject of entertainment in general it plays such an important role in the homes to help ensure that the residents find enjoyment from a varied programme which can only enhance their lives. Alice Grange provide regular varied entertainment/activities for the residents and appear to be very proactive in looking for new ways to help ensure their residents are stimulated and above all happy. Finally Alice Grange had a good feel to the place and I too enjoyed being there and playing a small part in helping to ensure the residents and staff were entertained in a positive manner. Many thanks for welcoming me to the home and I look forward to seeing you all again in the near future. Colin

My father has been a resident of Alice Grange onn Memory Lane for over two years. After a few ups and downs under previous management we have noticed a vast improvement in the home under Andrea's management. The staff have got through an incredibly tough year and have really been a replacement family for our loved ones when we were not able to see them. Communication is excellent - regular phone calls from Memory Lane nurse Rashmi to update us on any health issues/changes in medication. Penny organizes a great range of activities (visit by miniature donkeys!) and the food is very good quality. I am in awe of the team for how they have coped during lockdown and so grateful for them being there for Dad. Special thanks to the amazing Emily.

Do not move your family members to this home. My mother in law had been in this home for two years. Whilst the carers are in the main lovely they are too few, 1 to 12 at night is known, they leave you in the bath alone (that is, when they have time to give you a bath), they have in the past left my mother in law on the floor for 2 hours crying for help. The management are atrocious. They promise you a home for life but then 2 years later throw you out for some trumped up charge of not going to hospital after a fall and not signing an inaccurate risk assessment - we can only assume at this stage that they are not happy with us complaining at the constant lack of care. This is certainly a case of not getting what you pay for. For circa £1400 a week, you expect your toe nails to be cut, to be able to have a bath whenever you want but instead it is the opposite and being told your expectations are too high. My mother in law is a 90 year old unassuming, quiet lady, loved by all the carers and residents at the home. Despite the issues we have with her care, she liked it there and had made friends. One day in July 2021 the management came to her room when she was a alone and handed her a letter evicting her from her home. This is a taste of the appalling characteristics of the management at this care home. She had 4 weeks to leave and despite us refuting the claims, she was forced to leave before they were answered. This has had a dramatic effect on her well-being but there is nothing we can do about it. We have been told that many of the other residents in then home are now living in fear of losing their place too because of what has happened to my mother in law. We want to make sure that people do not view Alice Grange through rose tinted glasses.

When we visited this home we were very happy with it however the truth is that it is not all it appears. It looks good but lacks a lot! For example my mother has only 2 baths a week whereas we were told she could have one any time of the day or night. The alarms they wear around their necks are heavy, cheap and difficult to wear. I could go on ... The carers are mostly very good, caring and lovely. Penny Allen in particular has been marvellous and puts herself out for both my mum, myself and my sister. She even comes in on her days off to help. I would like to see the people who actually matter, like Penny being rewarded for the amazing work they do. Maybe this would help to retain staff as there is a very high turnaround. The sad fact is that Alice Grange does not like spending money where it’s needed and this shows everywhere! How sad! Update on 5th July 2021: Things have really deteriorated. My mother had a bad fall 2 days ago. She should have a commode every night but this was forgotten. Not surprising due to the lack of staff. Last night there was one carer for 12 residents. Communications have completely broken down between the family and the manager. It is almost impossible to get a reply from the local and regional manager. I now believe this is an accident waiting to happen and feel very let down and worried. Thank goodness for some of the amazing carers. I am speechless at how we have been treated by the management. I worry about my mum every single day!! Update 24th July 2021 Do not even consider sending anyone you care about to this appalling place which calls itself a CARE home. It most certainly doesn’t care for anyone! All it cares about is making money! My 90 year old mother spent 2 years in this home. The level of care was unbelievable with one carer per twelve residents not unusual. The carers were good but couldn’t cope and had an impossible job. Two baths a week was difficult for them with my mother often being left on her own until the water went cold. She has Parkinson’s which means she relies entirely on their help. She had a bad fall as the carers forgot to leave her a commode by the bed. She was then given a letter by the management saying she was being evicted and must leave after 28 days. The trumped up reasons for this was that she would not go to hospital even though the paramedics understood why she didn’t want to and agreed with her. We have tried to approach management on various occasions to try to resolve issues to no avail. They never reply. All of that for £80,000 a year! Disgusting!! We have involved CQC, the Ombudsman and our MP and are looking forward to those responsible being held accountable. RESPONSE TO REPLY: I have been trying to work with the management at Alice Grange for months but they never reply! My mother is now in another care home and receiving very good care but her physical and mental health has deteriorated greatly due to a move she should not have to have made at 90years of age! We are holding you responsible for this and will continue fighting for justice!

I have been going to Alice Grange care home for a number of years to entertain the lovely residents that reside there. Having not been able to be able to go during the pandemic was hard. But I was honored to be asked back by the wonderful and amazing head of activities Penny as the first entertainer that they could have and to start of their V.E day celebrations the weather was kind to us and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves with all social distance rules being adhered to at all times Penny. who always gives me a warm welcome and the empathy that she shows to the residents is clear to see, each and every resident reaches out to her and the relationship that they have is heartwarming. The home itself is very well presented albeit I've not been inside since before the pandemic, well decorated and always looks fresh and inviting. There is always s good variety of refreshments and cakes that look amazing of which you can see Penny and staff making sure each and every resident is offered throughout my time there. The gardens of which I have currently been entertaining from are well maintained, and it was lovely to see and be there for the opening of "The Rainbow Remembrance Garden" on 27th May 2021 of where they had a short private ceremony in the morning and the planting of roses for those they had lost. I was there in the afternoon to once again entertain. I was told that Penny and the residents spent a lot of time together coming up with the plans and the maintenance and gardening team got to work. If I were ever in a position where I asked for a recommendation for a residential care home, I would not hesitate to recommend Alice Grange in my opinion this lovely home deserves more than a 5-star rating.

Alice Grange took my elderly parents in when my father suddenly became terminally ill in summer 2015. He died there about a month later, receiving outstanding care from the staff who were happy for him to stay in his own room rather than be transferred to a hospice. This was a great end to his life, and I shall always be extremely grateful for this. My mother, whom he had been looking after, has remained there ever since and has been excellently looked after. The staff are very approachable, and on my visits to Alice Grange I always enjoy talking to them, feeling that I am coming to somewhere familiar and friendly. A delightful and delicious meal for my birthday last night (19 October 2024). The waiter Carinina - I suspect I have got their name wrong so sorry - was so friendly and good at their job it made the meal a delight. I recommend the trio of fish starter - crevettes salmon and brandon. My sister had the duck bonbons which was nice but the salad was undressed. My mother’s brill with smashed new potatoes was very good too.

Been coming here for years as its just a good pub but it annoying as it could be great. The location is truly superb but the small things that let it down. It's just lack consistency.

Special afternoon tea for an 85th birthday. Great service and an abundance of delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones. The cheese scone with plum chutney is very yummy. Different seasonal flavours contributed to an excellent afternoon tea and celebration.
