On the way to our holiday destination in Suffolk ,we got lost. I was so desperate to use the toilet we stopped at the Barley Mow only to find it was closed ! Two men in the carpark asked if they could help and very kindly opened the Pub doors to let me use their toilet.....I can't thank them enough. They also pointed me in the right direction of my holiday destination. Thanks guys. I cant comment on the pub itself as it was closed.

Very disappointing! The website and the opening times on the pub door states that the pub opens at 12 noon on a Saturday. We walked 7km to get there by 1pm only to find the pub in darkness and nobody there! This is not the first time it’s happened either! Extremely disappointing. If you advertise you are open then you should be open!

Not for the first time we did a 7km walk arriving at The barley mow at 12.50 only to find the pub in darkness and closed despite the fact it says on website and door sign that it opens at 12 noon. What a disappointment and not for the first time we will be avoiding this pub in future

This is a nice little pub with no pretensions to being 'gastro' or anything like that. I've never eaten here so can't comment on the food, but I sometimes pop in for a pint or two and I've always had a friendly welcome. There are usually 2 or 3 real ales on tap at a reasonable price. Great if you like proper beer, proper conversation and can remember what ordinary country pubs used to be like!

I called the pub on Thursday evening and booked a table for dinner at 7pm Saturday 30th July Turned up at 6.45 and barman advised us the owners/chefs had gone out for dinner so no food was being served He checked the diary for us, which I must say didn't seem to have one entry in it. We had come all the way from Southend in Essex so bad no idea were else to go. On the way back to our accomodation we spotted another pub and had a great meal. Needless to say avoid this place like the plague, so incompetent and I'm gob smacked they take a booking then go out Terrible way to run a business, no wonder there was not a soul In the place

Nice little pub. Popped in for dinner and it was ok. Scampi and chips and steak and mushroom suet pudding. Average is all I can say about the food. Just not for me and not somewhere I’d rush back to. However, the pub was busy with a few people in having a sing along and a nice atmosphere. The spot we sat in was by the door to the toilets and kitchen and so there were people coming and going so not the best spot. All in all average covers the evening.

13/06/19 Visited Barley Mow for a family evening meal for eight, which was booked over a fortnight before. When booked we asked where there would be a full menu on that night, the lady said popular dishes such as Lamb Shank was always available. On the night no Lamb Shank they had run out, also was not told it was quiz night, we were in the back room in the middle with the quiz going on, so we could not chat. Regular's who quiz got in just before us and ordered there meals, we were booked for 7-30pm did not get any food until 8-40pm, when we asked how much longer we had to wait, we were told that they only had one person in the kitchen. The evening was really spoilt I think we should have been told about the quiz night when booking Very disapointed

Visited here for Sunday lunch with mum, hubby and 2 children, staff were friendly.. there were a few starters to choose from but limited and ok! We went for a roast and the choices were turkey, beef, pork or lamb shank. When we ordered we were told they only had turkey and gammon and only 1 lamb shank left as owner was on holiday!!! so we were quite disappointed! Only choice for kids is a roast or a smaller portion of scampi and chips! The roast was ok but better at the more generic carverys which is a shame as we had high hopes for an independent pub. For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding and custard and this was a huge portion and really tasty!!!

First time I have eaten there since the new owners took over, The pub has a good atmosphere and the beer was good, particularly the pale ale. The menu has a lot of choice, though very much standard bar food and no specials of the day. Two of the group had the Ranch burger, which was a good size but average on quality. The bun that’s accompanied the burger looked cheap and soon became a mash. Ribs were a good size but quality was again good but not great. Best choice was probably the lambs liver, which although a little over cooked was served with a very good gravy and plenty of mash and peas. Both starters and mains are served with same salad coated with the same dressing. The one desert was well received, a sort of broken biscuit cheesecake. We were well looked after by the lady behind the bar who was very pleasant and efficient. The price though is fair and so you get what pay for, which was an enjoyable night that doesn’t break the bank.

We were looking for pubs for food as staying in the area for a couple of days so looked at TA and decided to avoid the Barley Mow as the food reviews were not all that good. However, one of our chosen pubs was unsuitable and the Barley Mow was closest so we decided to give it a try....and were glad we did. The food was lovely, much nicer than standard pub fare, it was well-presented and plentiful. The lady serving us was pleasant and friendly. Ok, so we did have to call her when she was in the other bar or cellar....but don't see that as a problem. Overall we had a very pleasant evening and would return when next in the area.

Came to this pub yesterday upon a recommendation with my adult family . There were five of us , all very hungry and looking forward to a nice family meal . We arrived at 8.30 and found the pub more or less empty . ( can see why now ) walked around the bar to see who was serving , no one visible . Eventually after another customer called into the kitchen that someone was waiting a member of staff came out and when asked if we could order food , literally strained her neck to stare at the clock and then bluntly declare that since

The empty car park on a Sunday lunchtime was worrying but this would be a good place to take your parents or grandparents as there is a good choice of roast dinner There was no starter on offer and the desert choice was very limited. The furnishings are very basic and very much a village pub of a type disappearing rapidly. New owners are doing their best to improve everything to a better standard The beer is good and the service excellent. Not a place though for those expecting a lot better than they could cook at home.

Stopped in here after a lovely walk along the sea front. We were too early for evening food but we're made to feel extremely welcome. The lady behind the bar was extremely friendly and attentive to us. When the kitchen opened one of our group has dietary requirements that meant changes to the advertised meal, again she was so knowledgeable. The food was hot and fresh and all four of us said we will be returning on our next visit. Thank you!

A gem of a pub where we have previously stayed but this visit was for food and drink only. Important to remember it is a pub. Tables are not reset able and many people pop in for a drink only. The food is simple but plentiful, flavoursome and satisfying. As for drink, well it is an Adams pub - enough said.
