Stopped in here after a lovely walk along the sea front. We were too early for evening food but we're made to feel extremely welcome. The lady behind the bar was extremely friendly and attentive to us. When the kitchen opened one of our group has dietary requirements that meant changes to the advertised meal, again she was so knowledgeable. The food was hot and fresh and all four of us said we will be returning on our next visit. Thank you!

We visited the area last autumn and i was walking past the "Keys" when I saw a log fire burning and the lights were on. I mean, what can you do but go in? So I did, and the staff reception was great, friendly, and chatty and I enjoyed an ' Adnams' malt whiskey. A new malt for me and I'm a malt lover. It's distilled nearby in Southwold and I subsequently bought a bottle in the town. Delicious. We weren't staying at the pub so I can not comment on the accommodation.

We visited several times while staying on holiday locally. Very nice traditional pub in the town centre. We welcomed the warm fire as it was poring with rain outside on our first visit. Great choice of beers with a few I've never seen before. My only slight complaint was that a couple of the girls serving weren't very welcoming and didn't come across as very happy. However, we will definitely visit again when back in the area.

We stayed as a party of four at the Cross Keys for two nights in October and had a brilliant time. The rooms were both lovely and the beds were super comfortable. We ate there one evening and had breakfast both mornings, and can't fault the food at all, it was all delicious! We also cannot praise the staff enough. Dave, the manager who checked us in, was so friendly and helpful. We didn't catch the names of anyone else but they were all fantastic, a credit to the Adnams brand. Will definitely be back!

Great lay out. Comfy bed. Nice shower. TV worked well. Breakfast was superb! Manager turned out to be very good and hard working too. Although above a pub it was quiet and had a little coffee station upstairs, although a kettle was in the bedroom already. Can't wait to return. As good as some of the hotels!

Considering we called in at peak time and it was really busy the staff were on it. Worth a special mention, when a fellow customer attempted to push in front of my son the lady behind the bar recognised this and chose to serve my son first. It's attention to detail like this I really appreciate, good on her. Moving onto the food and drink there is a first class selection of ales so off to a good start. No complaints at all. Three of us has different meals and we all agreed the standard was really high. Portion size was spot on and quality of ingredients and flourishing touches sealed the deal. Lovely food, served hot. All in all the small buried away location does not do what is on offer justice. Congrats to all the staff in front and in the kitchen.

Great central location in town. We stopped off for lunch, 9 of us plus 3 dogs. Two being large woofers!! We found an area by the bar, which was perfect for us all. Lots of seating both inside and out. Although the outside had a strong breeze, so, with children, we opted for inside. The food took a while to arrive which was understandable as it was busy. Certainly worth the wait! I had the spaghetti bolognese, which came with garlic bread, very flavoursome. Clean plates all round and no room for pudding! We would certainly go back if here on holiday again.

We have occasionally had meals here in the past and they have always been very good, but on a recent visit this week we had a lunch and was very disappointing. On a day trip to Aldeburgh on Wednesday (31st July) we decided to have lunch at the Cross Keys. We have eaten there before and always been really happy with the food. I opted for the smoked salmon baguette but it was sadly unavailable so we both had BLT baguettes. They were awful. The bread was not a baguette but a big lump of hard, chewy stuff that looked like a giant hot dog roll. The streaky bacon was practically raw. The lettuce was not shredded, just a bit of a leaf from the inside of a lettuce chucked inside. It also seemed to have big lumps of butter just placed in it. I am not at all a fussy eater but even I couldn’t eat it. The nicest thing on the plate was some rocket with dressing and (I think) crumbled feta - very nice. The pink coleslaw stuff was ok but a bit heavy on dressing. The waiter was very nice and apologised when we voiced our dissatisfaction with the food but there was no offer of a refund or even maybe a couple of free drinks. As food is paid for in advance we had no option to withhold payment. Hopefully this is a one-off.

Owned by Adnam's brewers, this is a charming old pub, brought up to modern standards whilst retaining it's character. Being so close to the brewery at Southwold, the beer is excellent, and the food is delicious. They also have accommodation.

Very good pub, friendly staff and good lunch menu. Try whitebait, scampi and chips and always a fresh salad.

On the way to our holiday destination in Suffolk ,we got lost. I was so desperate to use the toilet we stopped at the Barley Mow only to find it was closed ! Two men in the carpark asked if they could help and very kindly opened the Pub doors to let me use their toilet.....I can't thank them enough. They also pointed me in the right direction of my holiday destination. Thanks guys. I cant comment on the pub itself as it was closed.

Thank you very much for accommodating our large order. Being able to email in the names for the meals made it very easy for us to dish out to everybody. Service and food were both great.

A gem of a pub where we have previously stayed but this visit was for food and drink only. Important to remember it is a pub. Tables are not reset able and many people pop in for a drink only. The food is simple but plentiful, flavoursome and satisfying. As for drink, well it is an Adams pub - enough said.

This is one of those places that knows it has a good position so probably will always attract customers. I found the service to be very good and the pub has charm however the food is average. Nice place to stop off for a drink

We visited The Swan for my mums 80th birthday and had the most fabulous lunch. The staff were really warm and welcoming and the food was delicious, would recommend the cold seafood platter. Also a plus being dog friendly so we could bring our puppy too.
