Ocean fish platter/Kesgrave in Suffolk Coastal

Always fresh and delicious, more options available than most fish & chip shops. I love their grilled salmon, salad and chips deal.

Lovely restaurant. Served very quickly. Very busy restaurant. The food was very good. Staff were very helpful. Restaurant was very clean. The restaurant doesn't just serve fish and chips, they had a selection of meals. I had a burger and chips, which was perfectly cooked.I will definitely visit Ocean fish platter again

Went with our 2 teenager Granddaughter for supper on Fri eve we sat in services was excellent nothing to much trouble food was fabulous hot and freshly cooked could not fault anything we will be back again we have often eaten in Ipswich town restaurant but this was super restaurant

After following my nose a few weeks ago I thought I’d try some chips from here. They tasted great and certainly didn’t mind the short wait for them. Following this experience, I treated my 6yr old granddaughter to a fish and chip supper and she absolutely loved it! Good prices for freshly cooked fish.

Chips tasted like they were frozen not fresh and very greasy. Actually chucked half of them away. Service was really slow and atmosphere non existent. I waited 10 minutes for a portion of chips. Along with others who came in behind me. Asked for unwrapped and got wrapped. Nothing is cooked ready even on a Friday when you expect them to be busy, everything cooked to order, even the chips it seems. Lots of staff but no one really doing anything.

I love my chips. When fist smelt your Chips I said I must try those. I am so glad I followed my nose. Not only are they the best chips I have ever tasted, they’re fish is delicious too! They are so friendly aswell, fantastic customer service

Only used it for take away fish and chips. However, it's the best chippy we've been to and better chips than any restaurant. The mushy peas are to die for, minted crushed peas and full of flavour.

The fish & chips are the best. We like to sit down but our experience is always spoilt by the take away people. They spread throughout the seating are. There needs to be some physical separation for us and others to go back.

Very nice food with good portion sizes while keeping price relatively low. I went in 15 minutes before closing and was served by a young man Charlie who was very polite and talkative, a nice surprise at 8:45 at night. Atmosphere wasn’t particularly nice as you could hear disagreements/shouting between workers - excessive from what was public for me to see. Overall 4, with the atmosphere being the deciding factor; it would otherwise be a 5.

Great chippy, prices are not over the top and the food is good quality and well cooked. The staff are always friendly and chatty, but it can get very busy at peak times.

Served white fish but ordered scampi , tasty but feel cheated

Asked for mushy peas and was told they did garden and mushy peas. The mushy peas are garden peas mashed up. Not happy as they cost £1.70 a carton and not what I asked for. Mushy peas are made with marrowfat peas, very different from garden peas. This is the only chippy I've been to that doesn't seem to know the difference...

Placed an order over the phone on a busy Friday evening and was so impressed at how well the operation was managed. Everyone knew their roles, food was cooked fresh & to perfection. Our food intolerances were catered for with professionalism. Standing there watching the team I was in awe of how well they were working which has convinced me to write this review.

This has to be one of the best Fish and Chip shops in the area. Coming from the midlands where fish and chips can be part of a stable diet, I have always been disappointed in Suffolk with the quality and especially the quantity of the serving from many chips shops here. However this chip shop gives me both a tasty meal and deliveres a good portion. The young lady behind the counter is brilliant at holding a busy restrurant together, always polite to the staff and instructions are clear with a thank you. The meal it's self is not greasy, nicely cooked and presented.

It's possibly the worst tasting fish n chips in suffolk. There is nothing more than convenience for location. Chips are always tasteless and too crispy. Fish is always barely any crispy batter, soggy, and not much taste either.

Amazing fish and the best chips ever lovely and crisp. Highly recommended.

It's a nice place and purchased a few times from here but not a fan of the chips. The rest of the food was great but something not quite right with the chips. A few times the same, perhaps just their method of cooking but decided not for us any longer.

Chips were just lots of crispy bits not potato! Seemed like they had been fried a few times. Popcorn chicken and fish cake both overcooked too! Most of food went in the bin. Will not return

I've tried a few fish and chips shops in the Ipswich area and this is by far the best. I always pre order over the phone, so my freshly cooked food is wrapped up for me as a priority. Chips are the best ever... Crispy chunky chips... Not soggy and oily! Fish batter could be a bit crispier... But that's a very small negative. On the plus side is you can park so easily in Tesco's car park.. I'm picking up in half an hour after just phoning in my order... Can't wait... Sooo hungry #scraps and mushy peas!

Absolutely the very best fish and chip shop I’ve ever tried. Best of all, this is my local fish and chip shop and we now go there often. The food is excellent, far better than the other chip shop in Kesgrave which used to be good but sadly has gone downhill a bit. I thoroughly recommended Ocean either for takeaway or eating in the restaurant we’re so lucky to have it. The service there is also amazing they usually have at least four people serving and you don’t have to wait very long. Everything is freshly cooked and tastes perfect. Try it!

Everything is cooked to order, so there will be a wait. I wouldn't say it's high energy service. I would say it's worth the wait. Possibly the best fish n chips for miles. Takeaways have become pricier recently, and this is no exception. £11.10 for 1 portion fish and chips but it's quality stuff. They do need to organise the takeaway queuing. It's chaotic.

Just paid £10 for a plate of chips ! As when I tried to eat the fish it was undercooked and had a strange smell. Not at all pleased .

First time visiting this place for take-away fish and chips today. It wasn't at all busy, yet we waited almost 20 minutes for our order. Sadly the food was very disappointing. There was a strange taste about it... perhaps it was the cooking oil. Even our teenagers who love chips barely touched them. And my son who loves fish, left half of it and said it tasted funny. My fish was also undercooked. £30 for a rare lunchtime treat, most of which went in the bin.

Sadly on 6.3.24 I pre-ordered and when I arrived it wasn't ready, I think they used my fish for pop in customers. But the main problem was my fish was slightly undercooked my batter was soggy and I had 3 fish bones and because the portion looked slightly small I also ordered a battered sausage again undercooked soggy batter. Why do chip shops use cheap sausages. I have used their restaurant in the town centre and it was very good, I had used the chip shop once before and it was also good, but this time it was awful. Maybe they rushed as my order wasn't ready. For batter to be that bad the oil couldn't of been hot enough. Not sure I'll go back.

Only ever stopped for a sneaky portion of chips, but they are the best! So crispy and delicious.

We had our first takeaway from here yesterday and the food was really nice, the chips were amazing! It was very busy with restaurant and takeaway guests but still received a great service. All staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when helping with vegetarian options. Will be back😊

Great food, made surprisingly quick as a very reasonable price

Probably the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Everything tasted fresh, the batter was crispy and the chips were very good.

Told they only do gluten free fish on Thursday lunchtime. Had the family round today, go in to order and get told the glutton free pan is not going on until 4.30. We went elsewhere. They lost an order of over £100 from us. They won’t do much if they keep losing customers like this. Won’t go there again. Disgusted at the service they give.

Fantastic food and customer service!

We had fantastic food here this evening! Cheesy chips were delicious, chicken nuggets, half pounder burger and all were fantastic. Easily the best chippy in the area so highly recommended.
