I cannot rate the rooms as I didn't stay. I don't know why there is no rating for food on the star system. I visited on a wet and miserable day and was greeted with a warm smile (the door was opened for me) and a lovely log fire burning. My dirty wet dog was welcome and we were able to sit on a table by the fire where I could put out her bed. I didn't realise the orders are taken at the tables - that's a nice touch for a pub. I ordered at the bar. I had a roast Sunday beef lunch. It was tasty - especially the roast potatoes and there was plenty. The only issue was the temperature- it was a little luke warm- but I was starving and didn't want to make a fuss and have to wait. There was only instant coffee (no special coffee machine) - which shocked me- but it wasn't a show stopper. HOWEVER .... they don't take cash. I am a cash person - I don't like being tracked and traced through my spending (ironic that Google knew where I was hence this review). I don't believe it is lawful to refuse to take cash ... it's "legal tender". The overall experience was nice - the lady serving was really lovely- she made the experience truthfully.

The perfect unspoiled traditional country pub. Would recommend the music nights and the eclectic local performers, fantastic.

Proper British pub: The Union Jack behind the bar and a lovely Indian gentleman on the staff. Felt proud of our country. And oh yeah, great accommodation/ folk music 👍👍 Thank you very much. Dan

Looking very sorry for itself! Third time we've visited in recent times and told not doing food. Supposed to be a new chef just started.

Great location. In the middle of farmland. Menu was limited. Could've offered more . Lovely place though.

Unfortunately it's in the middle of nowhere but then that makes for a nice quiet place , 2 sides to the coin .

Food is totally bland and not as described I.e rich onion gravy bland and out of a tub without any onions in it and squid said deep fried and was no way fried and Southern fried chicken burger which was just 3 chicken dippers. No ice as well with drinks and didn't sell ipa in half's only pints which as far as I understand is illegal under licencing law. Not impressed the chef has no frigging idea how took cook. Wanted to complain there and then but didn't fancy getting bared as summer is coming and nice pub for a pint.

Ive stayed here two years ago and found freshly decorated and staff and managers wonderful, but on recent appraisal it has deteriorated so badly its best avoided, cold, unfit for purpose and rude manager beyond belief , as many have said its the worst they ever stayed at

Great welcome, Too many children running around the pub, nice fire, not lit, as "no kindling"...really? The Shannon has SO much potential, shame we won't be going back to see if it reaches it...

The star at wenhaston used to be great until August. A great menu and very busy. Now like a morgue in the restaurant. A few regulars in the bar. The obviously old menu on website but nothing much when you get in there. The landlady though she sounds posh looks like she has crawled out the woods!! Don't bother going there. The garden is a tip with a few rotten picnic suites. Used to be a good place. So sad
