What a brilliant location! Great food and friendly service. Superb value for money. I am not a member but have been a few times with my family. Pizza and a drink deal is great value. What a gem of a find. We will definitely be returning. Fore!!!

Four of us chose the roast beef dinner and four of us were more than happy! The restaurant is light and spacious, and looks out over the small lake and golf course through large windows. The food is excellent, and helpings generous. Had to think long and hard about dessert but settled for sticky date pudding, dark and luscious. Everything was perfectly cooked and nicely presented. Prices were cheaper than many pubs and the quality of the food was high. Shall return! Staff were friendly and service prompt. Free parking.

The choice on the sunday lunch menu caters for meat eaters and veggies. Be prepared to wait as the service is not fast.

Came up here for dinner on a Sunday lunch time. Sitting outside by the course is great if the weather is nice. Everyone said their meals were good quality and delicious (salt beef open sandwich and the lunch steak burger). I would have liked a bit more of a selection.

A delightful setting looking out over the golf course. Sunday lunch menu is put up on the board and there is something for everyone, starter and choice of mains all very reasonably prices. If you have room some lovely desserts to choose from.

Some time ago, I had attended an anniversary party in the upstairs rooms, which were very pleasant, beautiful views over the area and the food etc very good. A really super experience. (Had also attended a 'race night' which had been great fun and well organised.) So going for a lunch with friends as a party of just eight, in the main restaurant this time, I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. In particular, badly let down by the ridiculous wait time, around 1 hour from ordering to the main course being served (and that was having ordered ham eggs and chips on a menu with not a huge amount of choice anyway !). I noted that the maximum number of people in the place at anyone time whilst we were there, was only around 20, (although there is seating for more, thank goodness that there were no other people there), so quite what was going on in the kitchen, apart from 'very slowly', I cannot imagine. The location is nice, with a good outlook, the parking plentiful and convenient. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful, the bar staff polite, also very friendly, helpful and efficient - but as to restaurant kitchen output - clearly this left a huge amount to be desired. The food when it arrived was ok. The ham was nice, the 'handcut chips' were .. fine, the egg was a little overcooked but ok. I thought that it was a good job that I had not ordered anything more complicated. Desert was good, the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream was very nice indeed, But unfortunately, after this experience, unless there is some significant change I think I will be looking to just about any other establishment first, life is just too short ....

Stayed after our game and we each took the "special" ...seafood pasta and beef in wine, both were excellent being perfectly cooked and presented. They offer only 2 specials each day but they are interesting in flavour and perfectly cooked. More restaurants should take this approach...you then do get something special with great value. Even the "snacks" are a delight ...chips served with a little spray bottle for adding vinegar...sounds pretentious but it works!! A sausage roll that has 3 times more meat than pastry served with 2 chutneys.....great if you arrive back at the clubhouse having started early. Excellent coffee too and Adnams and Aspall on draught. we have since taken friends and family just to eat there ....worth the visit even if you are not golfing.

Had a christening celebration here, 45 people having a roast! They served 45 people quickly, with a smile! Brought a huge Yorkshire out for my little boy! Couldn't fault it!!

Good food, good bar and nice staff, but what would you expect at a golf club? The food is nice, and the menu is refreshingly different to the standard golf club

We travelled up from Aldeburgh to check out the golf course & were delighted to find the friendliest bunch of people you could wish to meet! Golf club members, golf staff & bar staff were all pleased to help & advise us. Enough to say, we returned & golfed 3 times in 4 days, having great coffee & snacks each time. We loved the place.

I rarely do reviews…but felt the need to give a massive shout out for the landlord, landlady and community at The Star Inn. What exceptional hospitality, fascinating conversations and genuine community spirit that I haven’t experienced quite like this for years, possibly decades! The landlords are clearly passionate about the traditional role of the public house in, not only the local beers and home cooked food but perhaps most importantly in connecting the community. In an age more often associated with isolation and division this approach is rare and a beacon of light which I wish I could replicate in my corner of Kent. In chatting with the locals (many who have been drawn to this corner of Suffolk from other counties and countries) The Star Inn seems to be the common connection. One well travelled customer told me “This place is unique. I think it may just be the best pub in the world.”

Our room was spotless and comfortable with a very good bathroom. Staff were helpful and friendly and prices reasonable for Aldeburgh.
