Very relaxing cafe with great views of the sea. Suitable for all ages & dog friendly too. The sandwiches are freshly made & huge, the all day breakfast is very good and there is also a specials menu. Although we were too full to enjoy any, the cakes looked delicious too. I’ve been back time & again & never tired of this cafe.

Had a great time here yesterday 30/3/24. Most notable, apart from the lovely cakes a and hot food selection, was the staff. The young man and two girls were so friendly and engaging. Whist preparing our coffees, were had a laugh and I can't compliment them enough.

A lovely spot with very friendly staff and good food. However I think that the recent change requiring you to carry your own drinks when sitting outside is potentially dangerous. It would be OK if the doors opened automatically and there was a clear unobstructed path to the outside with no dogs or children in the way, but anyone that uses this cafe knows it's not like that. Someone is going to fall and hurt themselves here or spill boiling liquids on a child. I think the owners needs to think again.

A table over looking the sea, a perfect place for a perfect breakfast. All items, sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, plus the toast and marmalade were outstanding, I would guess locally sourced as each and every mouthful was a taste experience. One thing that so many places get wrong, the Cliff Top Cafe have nailed - a large breakfast comes on a large plate. Not sure I should really be reviewing as it's busy enough already and a wait was inevitable, but one does have to wait for quality..

I was very impressed by the building let alone the food etc… Cliff top cafe, i expected a typical seaside town cafe but was pleasantly surprised to find a magnificent building, overlooking the gardens, with indoor and outdoor seating. The service was excellent, we ordered fish and chips and drinks from the counter. The drinks arrived very quickly followed swiftly by our meals. The coffee was great but the fish and chips were outstanding (not sure if I’ve ever had better)! Eagerly consumed whilst looking at the sea views. What a splendid day we had. This is definitely worth many more visits!

We certainly won’t be eating here again. We ordered 4nr cooked breakfast of varies sizes with with varioys hot/cold drinks. Firstly, they ran out of mushrooms with no alternative to offer or reduction of cost. The breakfast then took a hefty 45 minutes to be served and to add insult to injury, when we decided or to stay for a further cup of tea we were told that we weren’t allowed to share a pot of tea for 2 i.e. one pot of earl grey one pot of English tea for four people ??!? I was astounded we were all astounded after spending over £40 here and willing to stay and spend more. It all started off very nice and all and very sour so we will not be eating here again with friends, family or otherwise.

CLIFF TOP CAFE FELIXSTOWE ( Chilli & chives) An honest review First time visiting after living in felixstowe for 22 yrs and only finding out about it a few months ago and was looking forward to going to it however they dont do jacket spuds or wholmeal bread so all i had was a diet coke ..hubby ordered the scone & coffee which he said was nice and i ordered the omelette for my autistic 15 yr old daughter .. We were told a 40 - 45 min wait which she decided was fine And tried to use the free wifi while waiting however we couldnt connect to it even though we used their password . So 45 mins later ppl who came in after us are getting their food and no sign of my daughters food ...so i give them a few more minutes ...so it gets to 1 hr and still no sign of food ...so i asked for my money back & was told sorry & that the food was given to someone else outside by mistake ! ...was told they could start cooking now but i refused so was offered a slice of cake or a cup of tea for my troubles ...but said my child was hungry for a meal so wanted to go somewhere else now so took the money & left ...im sorry but this was my first ever visit and first impression count & will not be going back again !..also didnt like the fact that the chips are just sitting on open trays behind the serving counter in full view of customers & flies

Just inside the door, to the left is a large table, lots of cakes etc all under plastic domes, beside these are serviettes, forks and spoons, pile of plates all looking reasonably nice !!, so we stood there plate in hand just about to make our selection, when from behind the counter a person barked "we get your cakes for you" we were so taken aback that we decided to leave the premises, I do not believe this has not happened before, that a customer attempts to "help himself" from the way the table is laid out, you would at least have a small sign saying as much if this is the way you have decided to sell your food.Basil Fawlty was humerous, this person was a misery ! !i imagine this will now get a simpering reply, "we are very sorry" or " you took it the wrong way" etc

I tried this place for lunch to avoid a walk back into town. The young lady at the cash desk who took my order was friendly and professional. It being a weekday there were plenty of spare tables outside, which is where I sat. The fish and chips arrived eventually, but the bored looking waitress just plonked the plate down and rushed off. Would I have liked vinegar? Yes! Would I have liked salt? Yes! Unfortunately I wasn't asked and neither of these condiments was on my table. I spotted a salt cellar on another table and quickly claimed it as mine, while the strong easterly wind cooled my food rather quickly.

Visited the Cliff Top Cafe for a morning coffee and scone with friends and found the service and food very good. The cafe is dog friendly and, whilst I have nothing against that, I think there should be some rules regarding this. I was shocked to see a dog sitting on a seat and at some points it had its head on the table and was drooling onto the table surface. The tables are wooden porous ones and this appears to be very unhygienic (particularly as, once the owners and dog had left new customers came and sat at the same table without it being wiped down). Whilst this is the fault of the dog owner I do think the staff should have asked for the dog to be on the floor.

The view is lovely, half way up the 'cliff' with a shady sun terrace and a spacious indoor dining area. We were immediately taken with the selection of home baked cakes just inside the entrance. It was very busy and we were told it might take up to 45 mins for our meals, so we satisfied ourselves with cake for starters... The coffee is very good, I had a pot of redbush (loose leaf, very tasty) and the chamomile looked like it was freshly picked. the food when it arrived was a sensation. My son (14) couldn't finish his burger and chips (which is an event in itself) he devoured the burger and we finished the chips... which were that perfect blend of fluffy and crunchy. the fish was cooked to perfection and the batter was light and crispy.

really good cakes and coffee, mainly elderly customers, furniture a bit basic could do with a couple of sofas. Meals are good and local artwork (to buy) is on the walls.

Lovely little cafe overlooking Felixstowe gardens and sea front. Pleasant service, food and situation. Would be happy to recommend and look forward to returning again. Wanted to eat so muck on the menu (particularly the cakes). And most importantly for me; dogs are allowed in.

This has to be my favourite cafe in Felixstowe. Perched above the cliffs with panoramic views looking out over the North sea, there's nowhere better to get a bite to eat, particularly on a clear, sunny day.The proprietor, ( a Michael Ball lookalike ) is, just like the singer himself, a real friendly people person who loves having a chat to his customers. Him, his wife and staff are very pleasant and will always welcome you with a smile. The cafe is in a lovely old Edwardian house and in prime position for observing the huge cargo vessels and monster container ships as they navigate their way through one of the world's busiest shipping lanes en-route to and from Felixstowe's ever expanding container port. Seeing this repeat operation through the café's panoramic windows is extremely interesting, absorbing, if not exhilarating. The cafe serves some seriously, great home-cooked food and, whether you want just a sandwich, baguette, cake or proper meal, it's always tasty, fresh, well presented and good value for money. If you order a sandwich, baguette, panini or ciabatta it's always served with a little salad garnish and a portion of fresh, home made coleslaw which is delicious – as well as being a nice touch! I particularly like their large, freshly baked fruit scones with strawberry jam and cream. Yummy! Their rock cakes and teacakes are also brilliant. But equally, I just love their wonderful selection of cakes which always look so inviting! In fact, there's a table strategically placed and set aside, laden with them, so that when you enter the cafe, it's the first thing you see - and smell! Super!Various gateaux, lemon drizzle cake, jam and cream sponge, cheesecake, chocolate cake, coffee and walnut cake, and my favourite, carrot cake, adorn the table! All these cakes are baked to perfection and mouthwatering - and I can tell you, that's through experience! It really is a great dining experience to eat at the Cliff Top Cafe, even more so if you're lucky enough to get a table in front of one of the panoramic windows looking out to sea. The cafe is always clean, and with efficient, friendly and polite staff, a cosy, relaxing atmosphere with stunning views over the North Sea, without a doubt, this place is the jewel in the crown of Felixstowe's eateries. It's also nice when it's a really hot day to sit outside and catch the gentle sea breeze whilst having your coffee - and a large piece of cake!.... Superb! Roll on the summer! YumYum!Happy dining.... Lee

Went to Cliff tops for a Saturday lunch. Haddock and chips and sausage ciabatta were superb with a large pot of tea. Large portions but still managed Victoria sponge and lemon drizzle to follow. Can't fault our visit at all. Excellent quality food that was not overpriced.

Our last visit was mid afternoon on a Saturday and this lovely cafe was decidedly off form. With the friendly owner occupied in the kitchen his young, friendly staff let him down somewhat. Our order was forgotten completely and then when I reminded the young staff member it was still delivered incomplete. We readily forgive this blip as the food is consistently good and the cafe is a beautiful place to spend time gazing out to sea on a winters afternoon but the weekend staff despite their best intentions do need some training otherwise the charming owner will never be able to leave the front of house! Where do I know the owner of this place from? Was he a footballer for Ipswich Town or a local Policeman, frustrated that I can't place him.

A good place to halt for a while when walking on the seafront of Felixstowe. Try the fish and chips at lunch time and the tea and cakes to follow!

Visited Cliff top again after 2yrs away. Nothing has changed, only in our view it has got better, the service is pleasant & efficient by all the staff. Our dog Stanley was allowed in with us, which is a big bonus. The owner is such a good host and is always welcoming along with the staff. The FOOD, is excellent, well cooked, evenly priced, and well presented. Anyone to Felixstowe MUST visit CHILLI & CHIVES. A great place to eat is worth the visit. Regards Paul, Lynne, & Stanley.

We don't often walk this way so to find this lovely little restaurant with views to rival many continental places (on a fine day!) was a delight. Both had sausage ciabatta which was served reasonably quickly by friendly staff. Particularly impressed by young man with Afro hairstyle who instinctively swooped on a piece of paper that had blown off a table near us. I've been in 'posher' places where the staff would have ignored it. Only minor fault was our table (I think most outside similar) was on a slope so had to be a bit careful although the management had clearly tried to cater for the slope. I liked the look of their fish & chips so will have to return!

Lovely sunny Sunday and a walk on Felixstowe prom. Decided to try a local place rather than heading to one of the high street chains in town. The place had a few tables occupied outside and one or two inside, so when we were informed that there was a half an hour wait for food we shrugged and said okay as we were sitting in the sun admiring the view. The coffee arrived and tasted like the dregs of someone else's cup, so it was changed for a cafetiere which was a little better. After 40 minutes waiting we asked if our food was on its way as then table next to us had been served and they arrived and ordered after us. Food arrived at the hour mar. Two toasted sandwiches, then 5 minutes later a scampi and an omelette. The food was average and not really worth the wait. No apology or an offer of a complimentary drink. I wouldn't bother going in again, even with no wait.

Sadly the staff were grumpy and dismissive. The cream tea consisted of a rock cake rather than a scone. The bakewell slice was not worth the price. However the location was lovely and we sat outside which was calm, and the gardens overlooking Felixstowe were pretty.
