The best restaurants in East of England

Visited after Daffodil Festival in nearby Thriplow. We didn't have a booking and they very kindly squeezed us in anyway. The inn is beautifully and tastefully decorated. Lots of little details to spot everywhere including a cartwheel. Fantastic selection of books and games, you could definitely spend an afternoon here relaxing and nibbling. Separate children's menu. Was delighted to get an unexpected and delicious amuse bouche. Roast dinner was best I've had in a while. Huge Yorkshire pudding which had sage and onion in it for a lovely touch. Generous portions and well cooked. Very happy that we could get extra veg or gravy on request! Daughter had pasta she enjoyed and ice cream. I was driving so really enjoyed non alcoholic cocktails. Look forward to returning to try the regular menu. Staff were lovely, service very speedy despite them being incredibly busy! Highly recommended

Absolutely incredible staff! Attentive and friendly. Lady with the septum was lovely and always present!! Food was absolutely stunning and full of flavours - highly recommend their "Pollo Bella Rosa". Thank you so much for the enjoyable visit with my wife.

Stopped by for lunch. Delicious food and great service, we will be making this a regular occurrence.

First time there and unfortunately probably the last. First impressions, based on decor and waiter was dirty. Food was ok but not great. Just another below average Indian Restaurant that you wouldn’t want to visit the kitchen. Waiter very nice and polite, just needed a clean uniform when serving food.

Popped in today for a few beers and to sit in the immaculate beer garden having been past on many occasions. Friendly polite staff, lovely clean well kept pub and a cozy looked after beer garden. I didn't have any food but if you could rate smells coming from the kitchen I'd give it a 10. Well worth a visit especially in the sunshine and I'll definitely be back.

Went for lunch at this pub today with my wife and one of our friends. The food was excellent, the service was very good could not fault it. The restaurant was warm and friendly. If you are in this area of Norfolk and looking for some where to eat ,you will not be disappointed with The White Lion@ Wheatacre.

This is a decent pub with friendly staff and good beer - far better than another GK pub in town. Outside seating out the back.

Visited Saturday night and had another excellent meal. This is our go to favourite for a curry. The food is fresh and the service friendly. Highly recommend

The best pizza you can get around Grays. Prices are very fair.

Beautiful part of the country. We stayed over night as went to a family wedding. Rooms were warm and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was superb. George, who worked at the bar and served our meal,was helpful and pleasant. Thank you, George
