Othello Restaurant in Great Yarmouth

Wow, what a night!! First time visited this establishment. We had a 50th birthday for my mother and the whole experience was exceptional. Michael the owner has allowed us to bring in a cake and balloons. Michael and his staff have decorated the table themselves it looked amazing. The staff are very polite and attentive naturally which makes it much more pleasant. The food is to die for, has to be the best restaurant in town. The quality of the food is out of this world. You get a choice of potatoes with your meal for free with vegetable garnish which is an addition as some places in town you order them separately. At the end of the night Theo the head chef (sorry if I got the name wrong) has came to our table and asked us if we have enjoyed our meals very polite and again clearly they care about their customers and their dining experience. Michael the owner has bought us a birthday drink on the house which was very nice of him. Will definitely be back.... Well done Team Othellos😊😊

We stayed at a hotel not far from this restaurant. we booked a table for two never a again when we arrived we were taking to the back of the restaurant ask to take a seat even there was empty seats. there was a party of six waiting to be seated. we ordered before the party of six all six got there food before us. and the food wasn't worth waiting for should of refused to pay. the restaurant was very Very dated who ever done the painting well I could of done a better job with my eyes closed

The staff is rude and provides poor service. They become angry if you don’t close the door in time. Their doors have significant issues with opening and closing properly. You may find yourself locked in the toilet, and the staff simply pretends not to hear anything if you loudly call for help.

We were highly recommended this restaurant by our taxi driver as we came into Great Yarmouth for the weekend. We had booked to go to the Smokehouse the day later so we weren't sure if we fancied steak, but took a chance and so glad we did! The food was spectacular, honestly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. What really made the night though was the service. Our waiter was a delight, really genuinely good company, got on our level making jokes, was interested hearing about our holiday and made good conversation. This restaurant is a must visit for anyone in Great Yarmouth!

We were visiting GY for my partner's birthday and our Airbnb host recommended Othellos. I'm am absolutely thrilled they did, too! We had the most stunning meal, the staff are so friendly and attentive. I even asked if they had a candle to celebrate my partner's birthday. They didn't, I stead we had a birthday themed song playing whist they lit the most amazing sparkler thing!! Incredible service. I wish we lived less than 4 hours away!

Love this place. The hosts are charming characters and the food is excellent. We always eat here when my husband plays pool at Vauxhall.

I've been a few times over the last 10 years or so, and it's consistently great food, great service and good prices too.

Had an excellent surf and turf meal for my birthday last Saturday.

The best food in the borough of Great Yarmouth. Michael the Front of House and owner is exceptional and can’t do enough to please you. Always smiling, attentive and on hand when needed. The steak is so perfectly cooked, soft and easy to cut. The flavours are exceptional I can’t recommend Othellos high enough

Keep trying to book a table. Phone never answered. Voicemail requests to leave details for a callback. The callback never came. I gave up after half a dozen attempts.

A very honest review , We decided to book here for a meal last evening me and my partner. The restaurant seemed quite busy so that was a good sign. I had garlic mushrooms to start I have to say they were very oily as they were sitting in a bowl of garlic butter, the bread they were served with was just placed on top of the garlic butter so it was completely soggy!! Other than that the starter was very nice and my partner had the crab claws.(also very nice) For the mains my parter had fillet steak. (Absolutely perfect in every way) I had the lamb. My lamb was a 5 out of 10, certain bits were really tender and nice but other parts were extremely chewy and inedible. I actually left 3/4 of the Meal (they were very good and allowed me to plate the rest is up to take home for my dog) After what appeared to be a great start to the evening a large group of girls turned up who where swearing effing and blinding and being ridiculously loud to the point me and my partner had to leave this restaurant as we felt so uncomfortable. Definitely not the one for a nice quiet meal.

One of the best restaurants in Great Yarmouth. Great food, amazing service and a nice little venue. Micheal is a great host and makes everyone feel welcome and can't do enough for you. Steaks are amazing, mixed grill is my favourite. All round a nice place for all occasions.

Nice and warm on a cold night. very friendly staff and the owner came over for a chat. Food was delicious and came server piping hot. would definitely go again.

Worst experience ever! We booked for my birthday, as it was recommended on Google s an Italian restaurant it turned out to be Greek!! We arrived at 7:30 the time we had booked we were left standing in the doorway with the door open, it was cold & raining. We were eventually lead to the bar area after 15 minutes. We the waited here for anther 45 minutes the waiter was rude and kept complaining that he only had one pair of hands. he wanted us to order our meal whilst waiting at the bar! We refused as we wanted to have a special birthday meal and not feel like we were an inconvenience. Eventually after an hour wait (there were plenty of empty tables, the staff were just so disorganised, running around like headless chickens) we were seated at a dirty dirty table and the menus were lobbed onto the dirty table. We got up and left. I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy!

You will be pushed to get a better meal or better service anywhere compared to the service and quality of food at this restaurant. We were on holiday about 1/2hr from this restaurant and visited on a recommendation from one of the staff where we were staying. I stated with mussels and then had the biggest skate I have ever seen. My daughter chose from the the Greek selection and the lamb was cooked to perfection in the Greek way (My father is Cypriot). The grand children were catered for excellently. Well done.

It's the first time I have been to Othello's it was a surprise 60th Birthday dinner for my partner all I can say is i was blown away by the selection and quality of food there was 6 off us and we all had something different the service was first class and they couldn't do enough for us especially my partner who was made to feel very special the atmosphere was also great it was our first visit but it won't be our last I would certainly recommend this excellent restaurant to anyone.

This is the first time I've been to Othello's it was a special occasion my friend Shaun wife birthday and I must say it was a very pleasant experience. The staff David , Rickie and a young lady were all excellent. The owner Micheal was very welcoming, you seem like one of the family by the time you left. Food was superb. We came to this restaurant and had an amazing meal. We had the seabass with green beans and sauté potatoes. Delicious. I would recommend this place. Amazing atmosphere. Staff so attentive. The place to eat in great Yarmouth. And on the sea front!!!

I have been in catering and the licensed trade all my life I am now in my 70’s the food served to my wife and I on our Aniversary was incredible, service and atmosphere fantastic, it just doesn’t get any better, use my lifetime experience, go and try it you will be amazed how good you feel during and after your meal. We live over 50 miles away but we will be back as often as we can. Thank you Othello for a superb night

Looked for somewhere special to eat , decided to try here . Menu board looked appealing. It was amazing, biggest sirloin I’d ever had . Everything about the place was amazing. Very clean , staff were very friendly and welcoming. Very highly recommended

On a stroll around Great Yarmouth we were looking for somewhere to eat. The board outside offered a good choice of food and I spotted tournedos Rossini , my favourite meal. So we decided to give it a try. We couldn’t have chosen a better place. The food was incredible. Hugh portions of very high quality food. The staff were so attentive and friendly. I couldn’t fault a single thing! Thanks for a lovely evening

Lovely wine food service and ambiance

If you like lobster or steak this is a really lovely place to go. For the price, yes it's expensive however the quality is worth the money! Even the quantity is second to none, very large plates of food packed full of flavour. The service is amazing and all the staff members are very attentive. If you like coffee too, check out their coffee liqueur!

My partner and I had booked for my birthday on the 24.6.23. We was absolutely blown away from start to finish staff and owner where fantastic, And the food was unreal every mouthful was full of flavour we had pate to start (fantastic) I had steak and prawns for main (best meal I've ever had and I've eaten in top restaurants in London) value for money and excellence of food I just cannot recommend enough. Thank you to the owner,staff and chef for such a fantastic meal in a beautiful place.

Great restaurant. The staff are re4ally friendly and welcoming and the food is excellent. We ate here twice while we were in Yarmouth and it takes some beating. I doubt you will be disappointed if you eat here.

Have just visited, ordered mussels, bread and Greek salad and was all extremely good - probably the best mussels I’ve had. For the value as well, I’m amazed. Service was a little slow at times but they’re all very friendly and are generous with portions. Great experience!

Fantastic find and could so easily have missed this gem of a restaurant. All the staff were welcoming and friendly, The food was superb. I had the stifado which was as good as any in Greece. A great atmosphere made for a very enjoyable evening. Probably worth booking we were just lucky as a walk in. It was busy for a Sunday evening.

We visited Othello for a family dinner, the menu was great, my wife and I asked if we could have Steak Chasseur (which was not on the menu), Michael told us it would not be a problem to prepare, when it arrived it was excellent. The atmosphere was great and the staff were very attentive - we will definitely be going back. I was rather put off as the cost of parking nearby was ridiculously expensive - come on Gt Yarmouth give visitors to Gt Yarmouth a break and reduce the cost of parking.

Absolutely poor service, from the moment we walked through the door, staff was so rude we were left waiting for 45 minutes without even being offered a drink .When we asked we was told we had to wait after already waiting in the smallest seating area that is supposed to be a bar left that long we ended up walking out to the Thai restaurant next door was seated right away with a drink and starters safe to say they shouldn't be taking bookings if you can't handle that amount of customers, even when making the booking by phone the way it was taken was shocking would not recommend waste of time on a good weekend poor service all around and well over priced

Haven't been here for 15 to 20 years and it is even better then we remember. Steak Diane superb and Michael's strawberry cheesecake is excellent. Fantastic to be back and Michael remembered us. Highly recommend and will be back Sunday before we go home!

We went to Othellos last night for a hen party. We always come here because you’re always guaranteed great food and a lovely atmosphere. I had the Sirloin last night and it was beautiful, cooked to perfection. I would like to say a special thank you to Michael as he is so amazing. My mum attended last night who has dementia and he was so helpful with her. He helped my mum go down the steps and was making her laugh and feel relaxed! Top bloke!

Food- Cooked to perfection. Tasty and Presented beautifully. Vegetables cooked spot on, Al dente perfection. That good! I had the Lobster Thermidor. Massive Lobster for 2. Over all, I was amazed and that doesn't normally happen, like pretty much never. I don't tip unless I'm blown away. I was totally blown away. Great restaurant, real family feeling.

This place has been open for donkeys years. Deservedly so. He's the decor is dated and the menus very well worn, but the food was excellent. Lobster was huge and the steaks like butter. Would eat here again without doubt.

Never seen so many people packed into a restaurant, people packed into every inch with some tables sticking out like a sore thumb - to the clear dismay of the couple sat on one. The owner was very attentive and helpful but runs around the place like there’s no tomorrow when busy. The menu and food offering is a bit chaotic, offering a mix of Greek, Mediterranean and British/Pub food. The weights of the steaks are not listed on the menu, instead you can choose between "medium" and "large". When asked, the server said "the chef just cuts it". This seems open to variation and interpretation to me. Never seen steak on a menu like this before… the owner later clarified they ‘buy meat on the bone fresh and de-bone and cut as they go’. Still, this does not seem a fair way to ensure portion to portion consistency from customer to customer or indeed visit to visit. The owner then went onto say ‘they do not buy meat frozen or vacuum packed unlike other restaurants so steaks will always vary in size’. Well, offering a ‘medium’ or ‘large’ steak on the menu without a defined weight is clearly not an industry norm nor how any other reputable steakhouse business offer their food. Customers need to know what they are getting. The owner finished off by saying ‘you get what you pay for’, to which you will find my thoughts further below, and even went as far as to insinuate that we could not afford the food. It seems like those who do indeed know good quality food are not particularly welcomed - I wonder why that is?! I had steak and prawns at a cost of £32. It was certainly not a £32 plate of food (I can get the same meal at most steakhouses in the middle of Cambridge for less). The steak was cooked fairly well but unfortunately had little to no seasoning. Hence, even with supposed good quality meat, the chef did not do it too much justice. The prawns were quite nice and meaty albeit completely saturated in garlic butter. We hoped for more given this being a higher rated eatery in Yarmouth. It is average at best and in my opinion, overpriced given location and all other things considered. If you’d like a steak in Great Yarmouth, I would recommend going a couple of doors down to Charcoal Grill who offer fairer prices, better quality meat and seemingly increased culinary skill.

Absolutely lovely restaurant. Was recommended here by someone and me and my family were not disappointed. Steaks melted in your mouth and the seafood platter was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend them. Staff are professional and friendly

We had dinner here as a group tonight. Some of the food was ok but the burgers were unfortunaltey TERRIBLE! In a way that is was inedible. It was definitely not a gourmet burger and when mentioned unfortunatley nothing was done about it which was dissapointing.

Where to start. Firstly I can’t believe this is rated with as many stars as it has. The staff seemed nice, but they could be oblivious to their shortfalls because of the rating on here. The floor was sticky as were the tables where we were sitting. The cutlery that was laid out had food on it and because the table was sticky it gave the cutlery a slight tack. I ordered a gourmet burger.(picture attached). I started it but couldn’t finish it.Burger tasted and looked frozen had no burger sauce or anything.. it was all burnt underneath as you’d expect from a frozen patty and the cheap cheese slice that was all congealed on top and terrible bun made it feel like it was from a burger van outside a building site and had probably been sitting for about 10mins before being served. Waiter didn’t seem to accept my dislike for the burger.Only saying it’s not frozen..It was definitely not gourmet so you should stop calling it that..they obviously don’t take criticism on board to help them learn and improve. All in all not very nice, and totally overpriced.. It just felt dirty in there to me. Staff seemed nice people though, but please sort the burger out because it was so below par

Visited here whilst in Yarmouth. Manager such a lovely friendly guy made us feel very welcome. Food was fab really tasty and quick service. Would definetly visit again.

Wonderful food great service lovely atmosphere

Exciting and varied menu, with a slight emphasis towards premium steaks, which is no bad thing in my book. The food fully lived up the billing and each course contained generous quantities, to the extent that two courses would have been ample. My lasagna was a genuine treat, but if anything the huge slice of cheesecake and cream topped even that. Good service and thoroughly enjoyable, and I can't really blame the restaurant for my overspend on the starter.

Me and my husband both had the Chicken Chassuer with sauteed potatoes , it was amazing, very tasty. We ordered the homemade onion rings, an absolute must, delicious! We were made to feel welcome and comfortable. Good value for money

The most stunning lamb I've ever had. Beautiful garlic crab claws to start. The food was delicious. Unfortunately I was served a completely flat drink of coke, it was replaced but unfortunately it was the same again. We had a birthday and the waiter brought out a free bottle of wine with a sparkler, really made the evening. Was very generous of them!
