Busy place and for good reason. Delicious and the two ladies running the show are amazing!

Found this place whilst on holiday. Could not have asked for better. The serving lady was a delight and went out of her way help adjust the menu for our granddaughter and save us money. The portion sizes are big and tasted absolutely lovely. Such a pity we live so far away.

Lovely fresh cooked fish and chips. A proper chip shop that does it well large choice of fish available. Removed the skin too if asked 100 yards from the Haven site turn right and it's on the left, 2 ladies cooking and serving were very friendly and accommodating. Proper chippy, will be back if down this neck of the woods

We had take away fish & chips with mushy peas. The fish was cooked fresh to order, but didn't take long & the entire shop was absolutely immaculate. Very good value for money & the food was excellent. Wish this was our local fish and chip shop

JUST WOW!! Best fish and chip shop I’ve ever been too. Large cod and small chips (which was not small trust me ) £9 We were on the Haven Caister park caravan park oppisite and the fish shop on there was not nice at all and same thing across the road for £9!! On site £16 Massive difference, staff lovely no licking of fingers to roll the paper when wrapping. Spotlessly clean , queue after queue which speaks for itself. Highly recommend. I swear the bad reviews are from people with a grudge cos people ordering the fish was mad. Give this place a chance if you are on the caravan park opposite. Cash only! I even got a freebie!! Oh and the Banana fritters were to die for. Very happy customer .

Heard a lot about them and was passing today so thought we would give them a try. Cod and chips with Onion rings and Curry sauce, Absolutely lovely couldn't fault them and generous portions. Staff lovely and friendly and will be going back

Basic Menu as you expect from a chippy women is always polite. It’s always busy when you walk in it’s always a good idea to shout out if you want anything fried. Good prices

Big improvement to the fish and chips, since the daughter has took over the business, chips not anemic looking anymore, and you get generous portions of chips.

Popped in here today on way back from hemsey, best fish and chips and best batter sausages we have ever had, very friendly and helpful staff, will be back next year 👍👍

We are down here at Haven every year and knowing that cooks has gone downhill badly on the site we haven't eaten at cooks for the previous 3 years choosing to go to Brilliant fish. However, this year we, and not sure how we never realised, but Doggers Plaice is a short walk from the park. We decided to give it a try and were not disappointed. When we arrived the shop was very busy and the two ladies behind the counter serving were doing a brilliant job trying to keep orders coming out quickly. The chips were hot and fresh and portion sizes were generous. The onion rings we ordered ontop of everything else were also fresh and super crispy. And the curry sauce was not too thick and had plenty of flavour. In total, we waited around 20 mins, this included the wait to order and the food being served. But if the queue is anything to go by and the happy people raving about the food, then it's totally worth it. Keep it up. Look forward to visiting again soon! The spam fritters look tasty!

Been coming to Caister for 12 years and this is first time coming here as it was recommended by a friend as the Chip shop in Caister haven site is awful. Well it certainly didn’t disappoint. Food was amazing, best we have ever had and very good value for money, much better than home. Lady serving was very polite, friendly and really lovely. Honestly we won’t be using anywhere else when we come on holiday and would highly recommend to everyone. You will not be disappointed.

To much take a chance i have ok fish and chips once but many times greasy and bones in the cod not good enough sad as i live local but have to drive into Caister now

Great to get back to Doggers Plaice today. Fish and chips freshly cooked by Carole to perfection, so good. There's always a warm welcome at doggers plaice. If you want to tastes the best in fish and chips, then doggers plaice, is the place to go.

Visit every time we go on holiday we make sure to go here at least once. We've never been disappointed, the portion sizes are big, the food is fresh and fish cooked to order. Good value for money, it's fairly cheap (even cheaper if you take portion sizes and taste into account) Granted its cash only but that's the only negative thing to say. The chips I believe are cooked in beef dripping (correct me if I'm wrong) and the large cod is almost big enough to feed 2 people! Large chips are definitely enough to feed 2 people (3 if you want smallish portions on your plate) the food is very tasty can't can't recommend enough. Very friendly and happy staff.

Near closing time me and my partner ordered large haddock and chips . The haddock was very tasty and so were the chips . The staff were friendy and we will definitely be back... I have just had my second meal at doggers this time I bought my mother-in-law and father-in-law we ate in . They never had any haddock but the cod and scampi was lovely and the waitress lovely helpful and friendly. The price is very reasonable

Staying at Haven Caister, Was looking for a more affordable dinner than what is offered on site.. For two people Sausage and chips on site was near on £30 …. We found this place just outside the gate, Both of our dinners plus a sauce £10.. Lovely food and great portions, Will definitely use again this week… Highly recommend going here rather than the on-site facilities. Extremely friendly service too ☺️

We had heard about this place so thought we d try it out this weekend whilst down our caravan. I can easily say these were the best fish and chips we ve ever had. Hubbys fish was a whale ! Chips were full of potato not crispy just right. Son had sausage which he said was delish and my fish cake was full of flavour and large. This will be our local from now on. The girls were super busy and very professional working down the queue taking cooking orders. Well done great team

Been coming here for 10 years! Its a 100% "got to visit place" SUPER fish & chips, its by far the best so why change! Good big portions, I always have a hidden £20 as its cash sales! (It Keeps costs down!) I used to drive here passing other fish & chip shops on the way! Just won't go elsewhere! & We now stay a few mins walk away! Great! Be in again next week!

I stayed at the Holiday Park and went to get fish and chips on Friday but sadly they had run out of cod (not because they didn't order enough) but because they had literally sold out. So we went back next day and I got my fish and chips. Portion sizes are amazing and excellent value for money. The ladies carol being one was amazing and couldn't apologise enough that we couldnt have cod the evening before but she deff went above and beyond. We need her to open up down in Essex where we live. Highly recommend you will not be disappointed thankyou ladies I will be back very soon. Claire.

Called in on way home from Paget hospital.It must be 20 yrs since last called for fish and chips.I ordered 1 large and 1 med haddock which were cooked to order and 1 portion of chips,price £14.50.Absolute bargain for the best fish and chips ive had in hell of a long time.beats any of the chippies in town hands down.Not too much batter on fish ,which some places do to make fish look bigger than actually are..Chips were perfect ,slightly crispy but not hard.. Overall I would give it 6*

We visited here last Friday evening for fish and chips as was staying over the road on the haven site. On arrival the shop looked very clean and well kept and very reasonably priced for a holiday resort. Unfortunately what totally put me of returning was the lady who was serving kept licking her fingers getting plastic bags, separating the wrapping paper whilst serving food which is totally unhygienic and totally not acceptable in a food environment how on earth food standards haven't picked up on it doing routine visits. Obviously food hygiene don't seem to be followed and adhered too which is a shame.

WOW! Haven’t had fish and chips like this since I don’t know when!! We cannot recommend this place enough!!!! Service was amazing and so friendly! Food was absolutely perfect! Chips weren’t greasy! The batter was light and not greasy either! My daughter absolutely loved the chips! She hadn’t been eating much as she’d been unwell recently but she completely wolfed them down! And even better….they were so reasonably priced! Seriously if your local and haven’t tried them do it! If you’re visiting…do not leave until you’ve been here! Thank you so much!

The fish bites are lovely with a portion of chips and curry sauce. They are the cheapest i have found in Caister and i have lived here nearly 10 years. The woman owner is very friendly and always has a smile on her face which makes you feel very welcome. Will continue going in the future for sure x

We were recommended a couple of places and we chose this as was only down the road. The women in there were very polite and chatty which definitely reflected in their food. We all turned to each other and said that those were the best fish and chips we have ever had. The curry sauce was bloody lovely, portion size was great and the fish beautifully cooked. Would travel for 2 hours just to sample this again

Brought haddock and chips for a takeaway. The fish portion was huge and so were the chip portions! Both perfectly cooked and tasted fresh. Excellent value for money and would definitely visit when I’m next in the area.

We just had F&C from here as we’d read the fantastic views, had been looking forward all day to a lovely fish supper. 2 large cod, dripping in grease with soggy batter and found 11 thick bones, 9 of them in 1 fish! We must have dropped really unlucky :( lovely staff though

Came here 4 years ago and the food was outstanding... Have had many fish and chips since.. But none as good as this.. The curry sauce is the best I've ever had.. Keep up the brilliant work.. Wish i lived here but 123 miles is just to far 😜👏👌👌👌

Called in & had dinner here, very clean, lovely friendly ladies, excellent fish, scampi, sausage & of course chips. Good size portions at a reasonable price, highly recommend.

Bought take away fish and chips. Small portions chips and medium fish. There was plenty of chips and the fish a good size, we were glad we hadn’t ordered large fish. Second time we have used this fish shop and will always use it on our caistor visits.

Was staying at haven and popped over to get fish and chips for dinner with family. Lovely friendly welcome, we sat in the restaurant to eat. Service was really quick, portions were a great size! The lady checked to make sure everything was ok and asked if we’d had a nice break. Will definitely go back when we next stay at haven.

doggers plaice never disappoint. Back again for excellent cod and chips, large sausage and chips tea and curry sauce. Fresh and perfectly cooked while you wait, very friendly and welcoming. Doggers is the plaice for me, even with a round journey of 1hour and 15 min , worth every penny, great value for money.

Terrible undercooked chips. Terrible soggy sausage. Locals get seen first even if walk in after you. One lady serving slowly, doing everything, having in depth conversations with locals whilst lady behind Servery just phaffing about making unneeded food for hot oven as it was already full. Should have been serving people too cos big queue and one lady doing everything whilst chatting too. Should've walked out. Yet another place where if you're not recognised as a regular you're treated like dirt. Advice is to go into Caister itself where you get properly cooked chips and a welcome through the door even if a queue.

My husband ate cod roe from here around 6pm last night and by 5am this morning he came down with food poisoning symptoms. sickness, Diarrhea,fever, extreme stomach pain. We had to cut our holiday with family short and my husband had to endure a 3hr car journey home with these symptoms. In the end his symptoms were so bad 111 called an ambulance and he is currently getting medical treatment for food poisoning.

We have been happy customers at Doggers Plaice Caister on Sea for many years. Good old fashioned service with a smile and competitive prices and delicious fish and chips. Nigel & Shirley

So disappointed!! This was always the best fish and chips in the area, what has changed? Every thing was really greasy and the fish had so many bones, it really put me off pulling those little bones out of my mouth. Worst fish and chips I’ve had in years, sorryStaff were friendly and quick.

Went here as we were stayin at haven across the road the lady with the blonde hair took r order but seem 2 b doin all the work the other lady just buttered some cobs & was talkin 2 a old man that came in there was a feel people in there waitin … enjoy the food i had place & chips the place looked clean the lady with the blonde hair was good at remembering peoples orders would recommend but maybe look at other staff 2 help the lady

Called here for a takeaway tea whilst visiting Caister for a few days, best fish & chips we have tasted in years. Even our 7yr old grandson said they were better than the ones he had in Bridlington! The staff were also very friendly and efficient, a super clean chippy, great find and great food, sign as you go in stating cash only when we visited (October 23) you may be disappointed if you wish to pay by card so might be worth checking if this has changed before you go, 5🌟 all round for a great experience.

Looked at Trip Advisor for the best fish and chips around as we did not know the area. The fish was gorgeous - so fresh - best fish and chips I have had for a long time. We sat in and ate but the queue for the takeaway didn't stop the whole time we were there. It said that it shut at 7pm but we left then and there was still a long queue waiting to be served. If you like Skate, you should always phone ahead and if they have any, they will reserve it for you. Would certainly recommend.... And If we ever go back to that area, I know where we will be getting our fish and chips!

Decided to try this place while staying at Haven. Saturday at 5pm. Staff so helpful and friendly and our food was first class! Hot and tasty, good sized fish(large haddock and plaice) medium chips which was loads for us. Oh and a sausage for our pup! Good value at under £16. A pleasure to visit and will return. 👍

Our party had a cod, haddock and chips this evening with generally favourable reviews. One said everything was perfect, both fishes being lovely, fresh and moist, the other would have preferred a more crispy, less oily batter (FYI beef dripping is used for frying) and the chips were generally top notch. The price was very reasonable, as expected for the area. Staff were lovely and friendly too.... bear in mind cash only payment, parking is available outside.

The quality, taste and portion sizes of food are all excellent.... the only downside for me is the fish is battered with the skin on, and I had quite a few bones, which meant i had to destruct it to eat it... but other than that top notch food.

Thought we would try this place out whilst staying at haven across the road. This chippy is good value for money and isn’t really greasy food either and is tasty.

Food was excellent with no questions asked, 10/10 would recommend asked for skinless and deboned and was so good about it.

The crispy well cooked batter enveloping a super sized portion of fish, is a thing of beauty! OK! that's the lyrical stuff done! Solid value for money, I go every time I visit this coast! & I am disappointed when I arrive late & have to be disappointed elsewhere! The formation of patient customers inside and sometimes out tells you it's great food & worth the wait! The girls work very hard, super well done!

Got 3 portions of chips all was warm at best and 2 of the cod had a few bones in. None of us was impressed with this and will look for another chip shop.

What a fabulous fish and chip shop. Not only the best fish and chips and amazing spam fritters. The lovely ladies who work there are so friendly and cheerful. .

2nd year in a row that night one of haven holiday (2 mins across the road) has resulted in fish and chips here, and what a meal it is, portions big enough to feed 2, cooked fresh to order, served always with a smile. That good that we were back for chips 3 nights later and again just as good, learnt why it is called doggers plaice and felt included in conversations. See you next time we arrive in caister ❤️

We have been here a couple of times now when we have stayed at Haven across the road food is amazing huge portions and very good value the staff are so lovely and friendly and always give that little bit extra kindness. Looking forward to going back

This has got to be the best value fish & chips I've ever had. The piece of cod I had was absolutely huge and tasted amazing. The portions of nuggets and fish pieces were extremely generous and they don't skimp on the chips either!! The service was superb and the food tasted incredible. You'd expect to pay top prices for such an amazing meal but this was incredible value. If you find yourself in or around Caister then you'd be a fool not to visit Dogger's Plaice!!

Stayed at the Haven site nearby and looked at getting fish & chips on site when I saw the fantastic reviews for Dogger's Plaice. I was sceptical but WOW!! I had the biggest piece of cod I've ever seen and the kids had nuggets & fish pieces and there was so many!! When I saw how big the portions were I couldn't believe how cheap it was. Absolutely amazing value for what turned out to be superb food. The staff were friendly and welcoming and really made us feel valued. If you're staying in or around Caister then you'd be a fool not to try this place - I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Good food only reason I won't give 5 star is that they only take cash I had to walk for ages to find a cash machine

We were on holiday last week and decided to try here. I am so glad we did. I found the food very nice for a very reasonable price too. The size of a medium fish was very decent and filling. The lady serving was very nice and knew her regulars which was lovely to see. Regulars means decent good food 👍 I will definitely visit again when in the area. Well done 👍☺️

First time using this chip shop and I’m glad I did…. So many chip shops in the area it was hard to decide what one to go for and I’m really glad I chose Doggers Plaice. The lady who served me and my family was absolutely fantastic, friendly, patient and a credit to the establishment, really big portions of chips and the fish was very reasonably priced for such a large portion. Just had fish and chips from the shop, beautiful fish cooked with lovely crispy batter. Chips great. Portion size was great all you could eat. Service was great with 2 lovely welcoming ladies. Shop was clean and very welcoming. Will definitely be recommending and using this chippy in the future.

The 2 stars are for the service and staff … as a Northern I love Fish n Chips … this food was poor … chips, no taste, seemed like old potatoes … Fish, too much batter, over done and the batter had no taste … enjoyed our mushy peas though … disappointed

Excellent service and quality food at an amazingly reasonable price.

We ate here on the evening we arrived. We got there to find theyhad closed a few minutes before, however while looking through the window at the prices the lady came and opened the door and told us they had some chips and battered sausage left if we wanted them we were more than grateful for this after a almost 5 hour drive and even gave our dogs half a sausage each. We went there the next evening for our meal too as the prices were very good and the large cod and chips is exactly that with the fish being around the same length as a 1.75 L bottle of coke.

Best fish and chips ever. Stay ah Haven a few times a year and always visit this chippy. Lovely ladies serving and big portions. Dont buy on site a rip off. This place just outside the camp
