Branford's Restaurant & Bar in Great Yarmouth

Extremely disappointing experience as residents as bed and breakfast at the hotel is not cheap. The juice was orange coloured but had probably never seen an orange, no option of fruit or yoghurt with cereals (you can have either/ or), no choice of milk offered, no toast unless you have full English, no top up of tea or coffee offered and a chipped plate. Staff unable to confirm ingredients in a Continental breakfast which in any event apparently comes ready plated. It all seemed a bit penny pinching and for the sake of offering a couple of slices of toast and a pot of yoghurt a bit pathetic.

Me and my partner Jan had a hearty cooked breakfast this morning and it was cooked really nice and it was massive well done staff

Popped in for lunch ordered two jacket potatoes 40 minutes later we was still waiting, I asked behind the bar where our food was, the waitress said she would find out was told they was cooking them fresh and would be another five minutes I had to ask again after 10 minutes, was getting ready to ask for A refund had to pick children up from school didn't want to be late. When the jacket potatoes come they had been cooked in A microwave the skins weren't crispy, no sorry for the wait from the waitress, people who ordered fish and chips after us got there food first and left before we got ours, First and last time visiting.

Quality place. Decent food, excellent selection of beers and lagers.

The best place for a warm Sunday summer afternoon. Live music, brilliant staff, and good food. I would recommend the small plate menu. The restaurant is first class too with a great selection of well made meals.

Staff were amazing, very helpful and fast. Food and drinks were absolutely delicious with such a great variety, everyday you can have something different and in such a good quality. Highly recommend and definitely coming back.

We always stop at Brantford s when we stay at the east coast. It's the start of our break when we get to branfords. I can recommend the crispy chilly beef as I always have it when we visit. It's a nice location and everyone is friendly.

Waited 45 minutes for a ploughman's, a salad and a burger. The burger came with mushrooms on it which for me made it inedible. No query from the serving staff as to why I had not touched my burger.... a disappointing experience, I would not recommend and I will not be back despite only living 5 minutes away :-(

Been here twice this week, staff lovely, food I really want to say fabulous, really tasty and fresh, unfortunately on the 2nd night there was a long black hair in vegetables , yuck, no apology , nothing just an oops. Really spoilt some great food

The wait was very long (over an hour) The food came out wrong and stuff was missing. Steak was over cooked came out gandys flipflop We got better service when we ate in the bar and did not book

We booked this as we were staying a few miles away and we checked the menu online, to cater for our granddaughter. It was busy with restaurant and bar patrons when we arrived but our order was taken promptly. Service went downhill at that point. 25 minutes between finishing starters and main course. Despite the comment the "its literally coming out now"...it wasn't! Dessert was ice cream all round but that took about 15 minutes and the restaurant was almost empty at this time. Food was OK.

Poached eggs excellent cooked breakfast over cooked and warm. Continental breakfast bread stale and mould on the croissant! waitress apologised but no offer of can I get you anything else or any type of compensation. Evening meals overpriced for the quality served

Absolutely amazing friendly staff very welcoming . We had an early eve meal and it was gorgeous the food is fantastic and when on hokiday again we will return

Compliments to the chef but get rid of Debbie the front of house...we were passing and decided to stop for breakfast...after finding our way to the restaurant on entry we were asked if we were residents when we replied no we were given a look that killed. we were shown to a table I picked up a menu this was taken out of my hand bieng replaced by a dearer one and jams etc were removed from the table.then I heard Debbie say they're more walk it's.. another waitress came over and was more chatty with us...breakfast was fantastic..We saw another couple came and got the same welcome as ourselves...

stopped In for a couple of beers, portion of chips and to watch rugby on the big screen. Nice little spot, I'll go back again

Set the benchmark for a proper Sunday roast, it's massive and the extra cauliflower cheese is a sure winner. Lovely pub garden setting to relax in with live music. Fabulous.

Avoid. Ordered pie and chips x 2 both came out with mash. Said this isn’t what I ordered so they said we can take them away and redo even though the others we were with had their food. So I said can I have some chips on the side then. Yes but you’ll be charged for them! Wtf you got my order wrong. Then the waitress who took the order came round the corner and said you never ordered chips. Excuse me I think I know what I asked for! So rude. Then to top it off we had nearly finished then she appeared with our vegetables that the chef forgot about. No point now we’ve finished our meals. Will never go back there.

We called today (Saturday) about 11am for food. We sat outside as the weather was lovely. Unfortunately, the breakfast menu finishes at 10.30am and the lunch menu doesn't start until 12 noon. We chose to have tea, coffee and a buttered scone. We ordered inside at the bar, it cost just over £7. The lady who served us said she would bring the scone outside to us, but after 15 minutes it hadn't arrived, I went back inside to check when the scone might arrive. The lady had forgotten to bring it to us, another 5 minutes went by before it eventually it arrived. The scone was lovely and worth waiting for but service is disorganised.

Lovely staff from the minute we walked in the door, the guy who met us at the door was very welcoming and the bar man was very friendly! We hadn’t booked but they accommodated us and Alana (sorry if I spelt it wrong) was such a nice friendly young lady. The food was delicious!! All I wanted was some fish and the Caister Fisherman’s Board was superb. The other half had the catch of the day which was haddock and he said it was delicious. All round a great experience and I would highly recommend it!

As a couple visited for breakfast. Staff friendly, restaurant pleasant. Ordered the Bacon and Chorizo hash, very small 2 small pieces of Chorizo and 4 small pieces of Bacon not close to being value for money. Will not be returning.

It’s alright - so the plus side is it’s open late but the food is very expensive. I pod £17.50 For a pie which had 5 small chunks of chicken inside. Staff are friendly but wouldn’t go back

An exceptional meal, choice on the menu was large..enough choices Staff were friendly and efficient.. any questions were answered..even providing a doggy bag. The restaurant was a lovely surrounding for an intimate meal.

I enjoyed the vegan burger but apparently the beef burger was overcooked. Dead atmosphere... service was okay I guess but we were the only ones in the restaurant bit. I hope it picks up here because I think the 2 for 1 deal is pretty reasonable.

We paid our first visit here today, and had booked their set Christmas menu. We both thoroughly enjoyed the meal and wine. The food was plentiful and delicious. We were not rushed in any way, the service was good, and the staff were very friendly. We would recommend a visit to this restaurant.

From confessed food snob. This place is all smoke and mirrors... Looks good on the outside and was recommended by a local so maybe this is the standard locals are used too. Shocking Starter of Liver Pate tasted like washing up liquid. The bread with dipping was cold, hard and the oil wasn't the best quality. For mains my partner has the pie which all came in dishes everything in a dish except the gravy which could have came in a boat but no we will flood the plate with gravy and they add all little dishes on the gravy plate. The burger for £18 which I added cheese & bacon was bland. No salad leaves or sauce in it and the beef burger over done no way was this freshly made this tastes like reheated dry food. (Even the dog turned his nose up at the burger and bacon. He is a spoilt boy but damn its beef burger how bad does it need to be for a dog not to eat it. For context i have seen this dog eat wood, and fox poo.) The chips are anemic and hard under cooked, but the onion rings were delightful lovely crispy batter good flavour. Personally for the price I would not recommend. It tastes like harvester cheap food at higher prices. Looking online I had high hopes that were dashed. My partner liked the pie and veg just not the presentation. Better can be found elsewhere.

Simply delightful, superb choice of great meals and such friendly staff. Not rushed..

Nice food dog friendly inside in bar area

We stayed in the hotel as a group of 5 and whilst there had one evening meal, 2 breakfasts and an afternoon tea in this restaurant. Everything about it was wonderful. The food was delicious and plentiful. There were plenty of choices for breakfast which was a refreshing change. The evening meal was piping hot and very filling. The afternoon tea was amazing and such good value. The whole time the staff were very attentive, helpful and very cheerful and really made it feel homely. We are already planning our return and highly recommend this restaurant.

Had a weekend away at the Old Hall and whilst there we had 2 breakfasts, an evening meal and afternoon tea at Barfords. All were absolutely wonderful. Food was delicious and plentiful and the staff were fantastic and so friendly. The afternoon tea was amazing and such good value. We have already made plans to return. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Excellent food and service, great atmosphere

All I can say is I can’t fault the restaurant every time we eat there from breakfast to dinner all was absolutely delicious amazing products friendly staff good quality food all good

Last minute booking, bank Holiday Monday. Table for four people. Service by our server, excellent. The food we ordered was perfect, nothing else to say, we all had fillet steak, cooked to Perfection! The ladies had cocktails, beautifully presented. All in all, excellent, would definitely recomend.

Had a meal in the bar Tuesday night and was so good we went back on Thursday evening too. Thursday was busy, but we were warned about the wait and the waitress was great. Will be back!

Awful service we preordered and still waited over an hour . One meal didn’t arrive so was reminded anbout the meal and 15 minutes later came out after being asked again . Food missing on the kebabs. Not one apology from head waitress. Spoiled the birthday of the lady wanted a lovely night . Won’t go back in a hurry.

Visited this restaurant on Wednesday 9th as it was recommended to us by friends. Having eaten at a lot of restaurants it is without a doubt some of the best food we have ever tasted. Staff and service were great as well as the atmosphere too.

We Held my Fathers Wake at the Branford Bar and Restaurant Lianne and Debbie who work here were amazing the minute we walked in few weeks before they put our minds at rest and really went above and beyond with everything. The Food here is excellent and drinks are great too. The buffet for the Wake was excellent and was such a huge choice. We made this our local while we stayed sorting things out and we can honestly say I’ll be back within a heartbeat plus the Girls are so so friendly we definitely found new friends here. Come and see for yourself great staff plus great food and drinks. See you all again very soon See you soon.

Visited for the second time today. We ordered two roast beef and a roast chicken. The roast chicken was like scraps of meat, the stuffing and the pig in blanket were burnt to a crisp. The roast beef was very dry and burnt. The roast potatoes (if that’s what you can call them) were thin burnt and had no potato filling. There was only enough vegetable for two people at a push most of it was cabbage with a small amount of carrot.

Staff were amazing we hadn't booked but squeezed us in. The food was amazing. Great atmosphere. I highly recommend but book ahead.

Place was infested of flies, to the point my partner couldn’t eat her meal. Mentioned this to the waiter who couldn’t care less! Finished my beer 30 minutes prior to finishing food, was not asked once if I wanted another one. My partners chicken burger was just put in a bun, no mayo no salad at the cost of £18 you would think the quality would be better. Ribs were chewy and not the best …………..Asked for the bill before feeding my son, to then be harassed by child like staff…. Think you need to re - train them. I’ve paid a lot less on my trip away one to mention Marlowe, service was 10000% better and the food I couldn’t fault. Staff need to spend less time talking & smoking out the back and be present. May I add I wasn’t even asked how my food was……. Hire some decent mature professionals then you will get good reviews…… Paid £62.80 for the meal along with 100 flies……. I have shared this review on Facebook, which has been deleted…. Not professional I must say. In all fairness, I am considering coming down to get a refund for this shambles of an ‘experience’

We spent a week In Caister on Sea and found this bar tucked behind Lidl and it was a place we ended up going to several times during the week. The beer, the ambiance and the feel of the place was so good. The welcome we received from staff (especially Lianne) was superb.

We came today 23/7/23 a party of 12 to celebrate Mums 60th birthday. The restaurant could not have done more to accommodate us. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Food was delicious and there was plenty of it. Service was outstanding. We will definitely be back. Thanks again.

My friend and I went to our local, branfords, for dinner and we both ordered fillet steak, expensive at £34, however we wanted a nice meal so we thought we’d go for it. Unfortunately my steak was well done and I ordered a medium/rare so this went back. My second steak came shortly after and it was raw!!! I didn’t have the heart to send another steak back so I tried to eat it but I couldn’t. The only good thing about it was the service. Both Maddie’s were excellent especially Maddie (without glasses), she couldn’t do enough for me and was very apologetic. I won’t be eating a fillet steak there ever again. £34 is extortionate for a steak that’s not cooked right. Such a shame.

Utterly superb! Amelia our waitress was a star, her beaming smile made us feel most welcome when we arrived. Compliments to the chef had fillet steak which was cooked to perfection. Garlic prawns lovely and juicy!

We are a local couple and chose to have a date night at Branford’s to support a business in the area. We sat in the restaurant area and were unfortunately inundated with flies. My partner was unable to eat most of his main meal as there were flies landing all over his plate. I understand the need to beat the heat but there must be better ways of doing this than compromising health and safety - there is nothing hygienic about having flies on the food you are trying to eat. We were also disappointed with the service. Our waitress was friendly, however when we finished our meal we were sat waiting for well over 10 minutes for someone to clear our plates. The restaurant itself had 3 tables so it was not very busy and on more than one occasion the waitresses were gathered at the till point chatting. It is disappointing to write this about a local business but there are other businesses within the area that have a higher quality of food and service for a cheaper price.

Had breakfast at Branford's this morning and was disappointed. I realise they were busy, but for the price charged I would have expected freshly baked pastries, alas this was not the case. Cheese and meats OK, but bread had clearly been sitting as cut surface was dry. Would think twice before eating here again.

Food was excellent as was the service. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Could not find any faults.

I visited with family to have an afternoon tea. It was . Our party had a mixture of savoury , sweet and vegan teas and all were home made and very tasty. There was a lovely selection of freshly made sandwiches, quiche, sausage roll and cakes.The scones were especially nice, a very nice texture, with plenty of jam and clotted cream. There were a plentiful supply of tea and coffee with refills if needed. The staff were very efficient and friendly and the surrounding were comfortable and relaxed It was extremely good value and I would recommend.

The atmosphere was refreshing, staff very friendly and food exquisite. Couldn’t fault anything we enjoyed a lovely meal and will return again soon

Waited 45 minutes for our food, pie was crispy around the edges where it had been kept warm, mash was Luke warm, cheese sauce was missing cheese. Roast potatoes were burnt.

Waited nearly an hour for our food to come out, when it did, we then had to wait a further 5+ minutes for the veg to come out. Meal was cold and so were the vegetables! My turkey was tough! Yes tough. I've never heard of tough turkey! The cheese sauce that was over the veg was lumpy, translucent and tasted like they had omitted to add any cheese. Then looked at my glass! Only one word needed for that and that word is 'disgusting' decided not to bother ordering dessert! Don't get me wrong, the waiting staff who all looked young, were working non-stop and were run off their feet. Have to add that I will not be visiting this restaurant ever again.

I am surprised at some of the negative comments on here. Children are noisy and get bored easily- but that's the parents look-out, not the staff's - maybe if they were offending you, you could have said something to the parents? I have visited Branfords...

My wife and I went to Branfords for an Italian themed night. We were welcomed and shown to our table which was set out lovely. The food was excellent and the evening was planned well by Branfords staff who were amazing. Cannot fault anything of...

Absolutely amazing night last night at the Italian evening. Great food and the service was outstanding. I think the hosts name was Angela, she is an absolute credit to your business. Myself and my friend jo came and had a great evening all in all. Hope you do something similar again soon. Worth every penny.

We booked for Sunday lunch as we were staying in the hotel overnight. The restaurant itself is pleasant enough. However, I felt the Sunday lunch was a little disappointing compared with other restaurants. The roast beef was wafer thin, overcooked and didn’t taste of anything...

The dinner my partner and I had was pretty sub-par. I had the chicken and mustard pie and the whole meal was heavily salted, I couldn't finish it. My partner had the burger and it was dry, no sauce and not much thought had gone into the presentation. I do wonder if we had a different chef to normal as it didn't look like the photos other reviewers have posted. This was especially disappointing as the burger was £17! The breakfast the next day was fairly good so it bumped their review to 3* instead of 2*.

Beautiful meal. I went with my parents and son (aged 13). All meals were lovely. The home made chips were the best! The service was very good. We are in the restaurant

Often pop in for lunch unfortunately today was very surprised to be given cup of tea with just a teabag in cup always had a teapot before didn't expect this not good !!!

I only stopped to buy a gift voucher, but it looked so good I think I will return and get a meal or afternoon tea here. I found a parking space but it was crowded.... Lidl is next door but it's 2 hours in their car park so keep an eye on the time if you do park there. I saw a few disabled parking spaces but all were being used.

Always have a good experience in Brandfords. Staff are always friendly and cheerful. Food is absolutely amazing. Reasonably priced just a generally great place.

We had the sharing platter of seafood and a side order of fries and homemade onion rings. Was served on a wooden platter and tasted so nice, would definitely recommend

We had the early Christmas menu which was a very reasonable £22 for 3 courses. The food was very good and plentiful. Lovely atmosphere and staff are friendly and helpful. We stopped for a drink in the lovely bar after too. Had a great time.

I would like to give a big thank you to Branfords where we held my mums 80th birthday celebrations an afternoon tea for 15 guests the food ,service by the waitress’s was exceptional and all our needs were catered for . Family also stayed in the hotel and were very impressed with the room and breakfast and gym facilities and will be using Branfords again when they return to the area .
