Nice pub, sausage rolls looked amazing and i’m regretting not having one. The cider I had wasn’t amazing but that’s not entirely the fault of the pub

My wife and sons, aged 18 and 16, had dinner (the tapas) and drinks. Our adult son had a beer with us and after my wife bought him a second beer the mangeress (who, in stark contrast to the woman serving at the bar who was kind and personable) stormed over to us, aggressively interrupted our family conversation and treated us as if we were criminals. She grabbed our son’s drink and told us either we drink it or she would take it. We did not understand what she was talking about at first then it became apparent that she was acting out some internal narrative of her own as the assertive bar manager dealing with difficult customers. Either through colossal inexperience or arrogant entitlement she spoke to us in a completely inappropriate and non-customer focused way. My son, who turned 18 five months ago was mortified and my wife was so upset she just left. This woman urgently needs training on how to treat people with respect. It is clear to us now that she was concerned that her bar staff had not checked my son’s ID but the way she reacted to this was appalling and extremely rude. I have never experienced such bad customer service. Avoid this establishment at all costs!

This pub was almost next door to our holiday flat so we went a few times during our stay. What a lovely place, incredibly friendly staff, spacious and comfortable. Lovely to see an old bar billiards still in use as entertainment. There is a large beer garden out the back which was a perfect haven during the heatwave. The menu was interesting and the quality of the food was great. The best thing, after aging to walk out of many places because of too loud and terrible music, this pub was nice and peaceful and we could hear ourselves talk. Wonderful bar

Disappointed after visiting on my birthday for Sunday lunch. Reviews looked great, when booking I was advised that we may have to wait for food orders due to how busy they get to which I was happy with. Arrived to an empty restaurant so our food arrived quickly, I had a roast dinner and was so disappointed, it really was basic, and looked, felt and tasted microwaved so therefore I didn't really eat it. However my partner had some tapas pieces which he really enjoyed. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The place itself is lovely, especially inside. However, the outside is less impressive, with a very narrow passage leading to the tables at the back, causing people to rub against each other constantly. Reportedly, the food is good, though we can’t confirm this ourselves. When we went to order, we were told they weren’t taking any orders from people without reservations due to high demand and limited food supply. And this was on a Friday evening! This is what I call bad planning. We had to rely on our scarce supplies ;) Anyway, we’re going to give it another chance soon.

Met a friend here for lunch. The atmosphere seemed cheerful and the furniture and decor was dark, woody and cosy. We were shown to our table and the young waiter was very polite, friendly but professional, and attentive to our needs. We ordered four types of tapas: white bait, duck spring rolls, a walnut and goats cheese salad and cod goujons. Apart from the white bait being too strong for my taste the food was lovely. I had a lovely thirst-quenching ginger beer and my friend had tap water. We both chose the apple and berry crumble and custard for dessert, which was absolutely delicious!!!! The pricing was very reasonable and we really enjoyed ourselves while we were there and were surrounded by people also having a good time! We'll be back!!

I love this pub and have been coming here for years. Four of us visited again for food a few weeks ago as its a great place to stop before/after going to the theatre. The tapas are really tasty with a selection of food to suit everyone and are good value. Unfortunately the reason this visit only gets 3 stars is as follows: The bar service was really slow, all diners were put in the back side of the pub which was dark and cold, yet the side by the windows which was warmer and brighter (and also makes the place look more attractive seeing people eating in the window), was empty. Lastly my mum got some chewing gum stuck on the arm of her coat when she had folded it over her chair. Yes this might have only been put there, but when we left and told the bar lady, she didn't look interested or concerned at all and didn't offer any help to my mum to try and get it off or indicate that action would be taken to remove it on the chair. Just put a downer on the whole experience really as my mum couldn't wear the coat and had to get it dry cleaned. I will be back and will update my review again, but on this occasion we were disappointed.

I felt like getting my mobile out and ringing them there and then to book a table for then, but a quick Google search took us to the nearby Lanb Inn, where the staff were much more amenable and found us a table.
