Worth the queue. Despite the name, the dumplings are the real attraction here, particularly the xiao long bao. The food here is consistently delicious and excellent value, though you can expect to wait about 30 minutes for a table. The couple who run this place work tremendously hard and have built a really lovely addition to this part of Cambridge. Beware, it's cash only.

I arrived at the restaurant at 2:30 pm and there were already two families before me. I waited until 3:30 pm to be seated. Once inside, I noticed there were only two staff members working, which explained the long wait and the disorganization in seating customers. After being seated, I placed my order immediately, but it took over 60 minutes for the food to arrive. During this time, despite the staff knowing how long I had waited outside, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to others, as the wait was far too long. The only decent dishes were the xiao long bao and dumplings. The noodles and all the other dishes were terrible. It was a complete waste of time and money.”

Stopped by with a friend on a rainy Thursday evening, she's a huge fan and I wanted to understand what the fuss was about! As other reviewers have said, the Xiaolongbao are a must buy. The broth is savoury and delicious and they're incredibly moreish. We ordered a set of pork and chive dumplings, some spicy pork noodles and black fungus. There was more than enough food for the two of us, and each dish was delicious. As mentioned before, the team working here are small but incredibly attentive and welcoming. I'll definitely be back, it's definitely worth the wait!

I also came here because of the recommendation from other Taiwanese friends. There are only about five tables in the store, so you will need to queue up at the door during meal time. The noodles are all handmade in the store, and the steamed dumplings are full of soup and taste good. The price is between £8.5-£9, and there are only a couple working in the store, so the waiting time took about half an hour. ⚠️Cash only

I recently moved to Cambridge from london where I ate out quite obsessively and will put my hands up to being a bit of a food snob now and again. So I'm ashamed to say I was skeptical at the rave reviews I had heard for this place. I was wrong. The home cooked freshness and loving care of every dish here is really special - and not just the justly famous Xiao Long Bao. What a fantastic little restaurant.

Our favourite restaurant in Cambridge. We visited often when we lived there, and usually tried to arrive just before opening to avoid the long queues. The xiao long baos are a must order. We also loved to get the pan fried dumplings and noodles with minced pork to complete our order for two. The dumplings were consistently crispy on the outside and juicy inside, and the handmade noodles had a delicious springy bite. Always good with a soy milk on the side. A must visit in Cambridge !

Lovely food. Nice staff. Suitable for vegetarians. Note: cash only Cosy restaurant, only 3-4 tables quite closely together. There are vegetarian options but they're not clearly labelled on the menu with 'v' or 'vg'. Staff are friendly. She told me the three vegetarian options which I was quite happy with, either dumplings with egg (not suitable for vegans), dried noodles with veggies, or noodles and veggies in soup. There are no steps going into the venue but it is tight on space. We didn't see a bathroom but a lady did ask to wash her hands and was allowed to do so so it's possible there is a bathroom behind the counter. It's possible to take away food if there's some left over. Food took around 45 mins but was fresh and tasty. A filling meal for 2 was around £38 (with two small bottles of water).

The food was ok. The dumplings are good. Noodles average. The restaurant is small, old looking, and you’ll be sat toe to toe with other diners because of this. Not an ideal place for a date or large group. But here’s the thing. We arrived at 12:00 when they opened and had ordered by 12:05. At 12:50 we asked if the food was almost ready as I had to leave for work (it was Friday lunch) and they quoted 30 more minutes! After explaining to, albeit the lovely, waitress (other reviews are correct, there is one chef and one waitress) that I literally could not do that. They then managed to get the food to us in ten minutes. Which I’m sure probably damaged the quality of the dishes but at least I got to eat. All this, whilst queues of people built up outside. Ludicrous. It truly is not worth it. Go elsewhere.

The owner is incredibly welcoming, and everything is freshly made – from the dumplings and noodles to the mouthwatering xiao long bao! On our last visit, we had springy scallion noodles with tender beef, a mix of flavorful meat dumplings, and juicy xiaolongbao. Every dish was, as always, absolutely delicious. This restaurant is a fantastic spot for a satisfying and affordable meal. I recommend it to everyone. We were told by many people to visit (after checking after our visit it seems none of them had visited but all of them had seen reviews etc.) so queued on a Saturday afternoon for 40 minutes to get a shared melamine table. We got a little irritated by single people in front of us holding seats for larger groups, and people going in to get a takeaway (which with one chef and one host makes your wait for actual food very lengthy). When it eventually arrived the food was ok. Thankfully we had lots of vinegar and soy to provide any flavour. The microwave is the hardest working item in the open kitchen, which may explain the solid fish balls, and some of the chewiest squid I have ever had. Yes, we had the Xiao Long which were quite thick, but again these were just ok… nothing more impressive than I have tried before. They seem to be trying hard, and maybe the huge numbers of people have driven quality down as they try to serve everybody, but this is not a restaurant that you should queue for IMHO.

There seems to be a long line for this noodles and dumplings restaurant the few times I went pass, so I thought, I may give it a try as it must be quite good to sustain a regular queue. In short, noodles have good texture and the dumplings are also tasty (especially outside of China). Wouldn't mind coming back if there was no/shorter queue. The issue here probably is that with a small family run restaurant (husband and wife I presume), everything has to be hand made from scratch (hence the authenticity and quality is there), and as customers try to get a table in this small 15 seating venue, the queue builds up very quickly. We actually went off peak hours for lunch and we still waited for an hour. If time and wait is not of any concern, it's a good place to soothe your craving for Chinese noodles and dumplings. Kindly note they close 2 days a week (Mon & Tues) and I went once on a day when they were closed.. hence no queue...

Absolutely delicious! The dumplings here are fantastic, and I'm a huge fan of the chili oil with beef on the side. The noodles are decent too. It's pretty affordable – you can get a hearty meal for two for about £40-£50, which is a steal given the quality of the food. The only downside is the long wait to get in, usually around an hour, which is a bit of a deal-breaker for me. Other than that, everything's great. The staff are super friendly and hardworking. A suggestion: implementing a phone ban might help speed up the line and improve the dining experience.

I have to say...this is the best noodle and Xiao Long Bao restaurant that I’ve went to so far. It’s a small store with limited seats, and they serve each table’s order one by one, making a long-waited queue no matter outside or even seated at tables. But you can see how it worth when people are still coming during dining time and willing to wait I ordered a glass of warm soyamilk with half sugar, which was completely a rescue on a windy and freezing night. Savouries are very outstanding. Beef brisket noodle soup is good, with the brisket cooked perfectly to chew out. The Wonton soup is my favorite, where the juicy and stuffy mixture of pork and vegetables are covered by transparent skin, soaking in the salty soup. The juice just exploded in your mouth when you took a bite. Xiao Long Bao is the must-try. It is slightly bigger than what’s in an usual restaurant, but I don’t think it’s any less than wonderful. I personally think the skin of dumpling is too thick, I can somehow taste the flavor of flour. And it could be even better if the soup (generally) can be less salty. But overall I still consider it a very highly-rated restaurant. Cash only. Card payment is not acceptable

I was staying across the street. I noticed just one restaurant of the many on Mill Rd had a queue of people waiting. Always a good sign. I grew up in San Francisco, a city of noodle shops. Nothing about Noodles Plus will disappoint. Try especially the Shanghai dumplings stuffed with soup. Then try everything else. My only complaint: the restaurant is stubbornly “cash only.” Across England I noticed a baffling insistence on “cards only” (excuse me, but aren’t fivers and tenners legal tender in the UK?). This was the only restaurant that demanded cash. Fortunately, there is an ATM just down the Street.

The total duration of waiting time was at least 1.5hrs until food was served. Food was okay but not worth the wait.

The people moaning about the pace of the service is a bit unfair. The food is worth the wait and you can see that the husband and wife are working so hard. The food was delicious, all hand made and fresh. The Xiao long Bao very good. We will definitely be back!

What lovely food and friendly hardworking staff. The dumplings are worth queuing for. Don't be fooled by the appearance of the restaurant, the food is truly excellent.

Superb Xiao Long Bao and beef brisket noodles. Excellent chicken. Nice custard buns. Food freshly made and steamed. Good price as well. There’s a quite a queue so make sure you are not in a rush.

We went a couple times. Food is always great. We had xia lung bao and noodles, every time. But the wait is vary, some days less than 10 minutes , the other time we waited for almost one hour outside and inside (after we’re seated). So you just have to prepare yourself. It’s a husband and wife duo run the business. I wish they expand the place, and add at least one more servers to accommodate more customers. But overall it’s great food if you have time to spare, or if you are really crave the food.

Amazing, mouth-watering, delicious Chinese food! I couldn’t stop trying different dishes and by the end of my time at Noodles Plus was chonky and happy 🥟 Pros 1. Food! Dumplings, gyoza, noodles! Generous portions and all, down to the small bite, is flavorful and yummy. 2. A big menu, a lot of options to explore! 3. Conveniently located — I mean, Mill Road, it can’t get any better for Cambridge 😀 Cons 1. The place is quite small and popular so… queues. It’s not fun to wait for a half an hour to be seated, especially when it’s raining 🌧️ 2. We went there on a rainy day so with the place lacking in space and with a lot of people inside, it was literally a greenhouse.

Our favourite in Cambridge. Never disappoints. The spicy pork noodles and chilli oil are *chef’s kiss*. 10/10 😋

Food is good but service is appalling. I feel for customers who had to wait forever for food

Look, here's the deal. Anyone complaining about slow service when everything is prepared by 2 people just lacks common sense. If you want speed - head to the nearest McDonald's, burger will be flying your way in no time. We had the xiao long bao, beef brisket noodles and a few others and it was all delicious. In short, if you are in a rush - skip this place for sure. But if you can spare the time, sit down relax and take in the beauty of home made dishes in a restaurant environment.

I've ordered from this restaurant three times, and each time, the quality and portion size have declined. My recent beef noodle order had only three pieces of meat.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. He reminded me of my grandpa! The food was so delicious and well-seasoned. The price was also reasonable since the portion was huge! We got “roasted duck with vegetables and an extra egg” and “braised beef brisket with potato and an extra egg”. Everything was clean and tidy.

Didn’t try this personally, but to relay the feedback: it was a filled, freshly cooked, and steaminggg pancake. On the pricier side, but you get what you pay for! Quickly made, so you won’t be waiting for long (around 5 minutes). Worth trying out once for sure!
