1 and 1 Rougamo in Cambridge

I've ordered from this restaurant three times, and each time, the quality and portion size have declined. My recent beef noodle order had only three pieces of meat.

Food is amazing here! I’m always craving for hand-pulled traditional chilli oil noodles - it’s just the right amount of savoury and spice! I do absolutely love spicy food, but worry not, these aren’t spicy to the point where it would make you cry (I hope). The rougamos are also delicious. The flakiness of the pastry, the sweet/savouriness of the filling - they’re just right! I’ve brought different friends here and they’ve enjoyed it every single time. It can be a little difficult to get a table, especially if you’re a larger group but it seems like turnover is relatively quick so you can be seated fairly soon.

Liangpi and Roujiamo are very good!

Busy mainland Chinese restaurant with an emphasis on Western Chinese cuisine. Visited Oct 2024 on a Saturday and was able to quickly get a table for 3. We got four dishes and Chinese tea for the table, which altogether provided good variety. Vibe wise the restaurant is a bit drafty (it’s one room) and rather packed together, and there are only paper cups for beverages , but the price point matches this. Hoping to visit the Holborn location to try the Xi’an lamb soup.

I love the duck rougamo in this place. It's yummy, sweet but salty, healthy but not. It's just delicious 😋🤤. I can't wait to return and try more dishes 😁. Definitely very recommended 🥰

Handmade Noodles and Dumplings From noodles to dumplings to buns, all are made from scratch. The pork and beef are soft and tender, very well prepared. Sincere productions. Generous portions. Don't know why some of the items at the menu disappeared, too bad.

Easily the best Chinese food in Cam and one of the best restaurants in the town, Roujiamo is a very unique, tasty dish that you cannot find in most Chinese restaurants. The staff of the restaurant are very welcoming and nice, and the food is excellent and reasonably priced. 100% recommend to anyone visiting the city!

The Roujiamo and pickled beef noodles taste pretty good, but why does Liangpi’s mahjong cost extra if it doesn’t come with it? You have to pay 10% service fee when you swipe your card, I don’t like this approach a bit

Ordered the sliced beef Sichuan pepper soup. It was so good and packed with meat, seaweed and tofu strips. Very nutritious and delicious.

The only Authentic Chinese northwestern cuisine in Cambridge. The cold rice noodle and the rougamo is epic. The noodle soups are also hey good! Try the homemade chili oil! It’s so aromatic but not spicy at all!

I don’t even want to give it one star. The food is really bad. I bought two takeaway portions of the signature roujiamo. The portion I ate was all fatty meat. It’s no exaggeration. My husband’s portion was slightly A little better, with less than a third of the lean meat. This is not the way to fool people. I was already hungry, and I was really angry because I hadn’t eaten yet. I didn’t want to write this negative review at first, but wanted to call and complain. However, I made more than a dozen calls in two days and no one answered. I don’t understand their current business model. I used to get through quickly when I called to place an order, but now either I can’t get through, or the customer is busy. If you have some roujiamo, you must open it and take a look at it to avoid being fooled and wasting money.

Even though most of them are one-time tourists, the service attitude still needs to be improved. They seem to owe them a lot of money. I guess they are a little bit picky after making money. The taste of the food is uneven, mainly because of the attitude. Basic services in the service industry are still needed. , if you transfer to WeChat, you will have to pay more if you swipe your card, forcing customers to evade tax for you. The whole family has the same attitude and the food is unpleasant

Delicious hand pulled noodles that were very quick to be delivered to our table, we ordered on our phones which made it very easy to order food. Their pork bun is also a 100% must try!

The beef brisket rice bowl here is soft and the meat is fat, oily and greasy. I advise Chinese people who want to experience Chinese food or miss the taste of home to avoid this pit.

Food is great especially if you want a decent meal compared to most available in the UK. Service is also pretty good and relatively friendly.

A must-eat restaurant every time you come to Cambridge! Very authentic and delicious~ Roujiamo is a must-eat! ! It’s also good to eat cold skin in summer. This time I also had roast chicken and packed chicken feet. This is a store where you can order with your eyes closed!

Simply delicious. The Rougamo is crispy and juicy — well beyond average even by Chinese standard. Lamb soup noodles (I swapped for thick ones) are delicious with or without extra chili (not spicy just a little bit more aroma). The hand-pulled noodles are amazing, hitting the beautiful balance of chewiness. The service is warm and gives a family feeling. (I had ordered deliveries before but the food definitely tastes better fresh out of the kitchen :) — Bought one for a friend and she loves it. The lean ones are still juicy and tasty. Nice :D The veggie one (bought in case that friend is vegetarian) also tastes good, to my surprise. The vinegar gives it a different character from the soy sauce based flavor of the meaty ones. A bit chaotic and stressful at the till during the busy hours. — 202405 Haven’t been back for so long because I cook at home but this is one of the most reliable Chinese restaurant here. The lamb soup still tastes so good, and I like the idea of adding extras into the noodle (I used to request extra bok choi stir fry). The fermented gai choy (sauerkraut on the menu) is more spicy than I expected, in a good way. The noodles can be slightly firmer. Service is prompt and friendly as always and the portion is great.

The sichuan pepper soup is out of this world – I'm sure the rest of the menu is amazing also but I have yet to get anything else. Highly recommend!

No doubt about authentic flavours. I last tasted Xi'an cold noodles and Rougamo in Xi'an some 40 years ago. Good to find it in heart of Cambridge. It's come a long way, literally.

Most delicious food I’ve ever eaten.

Overall, the taste is good, we love the rougamo. But a few comments below: 1, we asked for no peanut in the cold dish but peanut was added. 2, the clay pot noodle is not hot, just warm. 3, we were mistakenly overcharged one dish we did not order, after we examining the receipt, we asked for refund.

The price is affordable, the food is served quickly, the taste is good, the saltiness is moderate, the membrane-filled pie crust is crispy and not hard, and the noodles are large in portion, highly recommended!

The cold skin is delicious and quite authentic, and the service attitude is also very good.

Delicious dishes. I recommend the noodles, but also try the rougamo, a pastry filled with meat and/or veggies. I wish they had some set menu with the rougamo. What I did was ordering a seaweed salad on the side and some dumplings to share (but it would be a bit too much for one person).

3 stars because your staff don't speak proper english and i cannot communicate properly. I have still a question that i asked but never answered: Can i only come for dine in to your restaurant , or i can buy extra frozen rugamo bread to cook at home because i cannot find in london frozen rugamos in box to buy elsewhere?

This is a nice place for a quick bite, the food was full of flavour and fragrant, the service was pleasant with no frills.

It’s the worst Chinese restaurant I experienced so far. I ordered pickled fish with noodles in the first place, but then I asked whether I could order some vegetables. However, without introducing me another dish, they deliberately directed me to change my original order to a different one and told me the vegetables inside were good (without telling me the dish was actually pork, not fish). I trusted them and switched my order. Then I realised the dish they recommended was originally put in a plastic box and they served me very quickly which I think they just used microwave to heat. And it looked like yesterday’s leftover. When I questioned why it was pork but not fish, they did say they could help me change, but I didn’t want to cause any trouble, so I gave up. It tasted not delicious, but bearable to eat. the soy milk I ordered eventually didn’t come, so I cancelled it when I paid the bill. And they preferred cash and adding more dollars if using card. Overall, this restaurant is not recommend.

Casual Chinese diner with food from Xian / other PRC- flavours were weaker than China or elsewhere you'd find I'm Asia for equivalents but still tasty and good portions. Had the Liangpi (weaker than usual but good) + sour fish noodles (decent amount of fish) + hot and sour glass noodles (a bit weaker than I'd like). Dumplings were ok but a bit on the sweet side for my liking.

I think it’s not very hygienic for the waiter to grab a handful of coriander and put it on the guest’s plate for the guest to eat without washing his hands after wiping the table with a rag. Can you use tools to pick up the dishes instead of grabbing them directly?

Tried their liangpi with sesame, was good. Also had dumpling and soup; would recommend. The lady in reception can do a lot better. Just needs to have a bit of a pleasant presence at least smile back?

肉夹馍和油泼面很正，价格在英国也算公道。 美中不足是馍用的潼关馍，而且默认是加青椒的；油泼面默认加醋。 They have very authentic Rougamo and Biangbiang Noodles with resonable prices. Just choose the cheapest ones under these two categories. Disadvantages include: they only provide Rougamo with Tongguan style pita bread and green pepper in as the default. Biangbiang noodles have vinegar in as default. Ask for no green pepper and no vinegar for authentic experience :)

Really delicious Chinese food served impressively quickly. We has the braised pork roujiamo, liang pi cold noodles with sesame sauce and the sour soup with dumplings, which was the perfect amount of food for two hungry people. All of it was fantastic, but the dumpling soup was particularly good.

The Sichuan pepper soup with home made noodles was delicious. The lean meat rougamo was quite dry so I recommend the normal one

It is a terrible experience. The soup is so salty. The service is impolite.

Terrible place .The beef noodle soup tasted much like dirt with salt and peas. Almost sharted myself immediately after only to find toilet to simply be a literal hole on the ground with horrible smell. The place itself was fully packed, noisy and sweaty. The customer service slow, rude and inattentive. And of course they don't tell you that they prefer cash until you're actually at the till, and APPLY EXTRA FEE if you pay by card... Honestly regret going there. Better to eat trash from the bin instead of "food" from this place.

The roujiamo and cold noodles are the top top quality. Even for a Chinese person it's good. The roujiamo is so crispy but not oily at all. Authentic XiAn food

Small hidden gem near Holborn, serving the most authentic rougamos in London as well as delicious noodles and juicy dumplings. Loved the fact that it’s in a quiet neighbourhood and not packed like all the other restaurants in touristy areas; you can really be there to enjoy the food without feeling any rush to leave or being frustrated from not getting a table. Flavours were amazing. The sichuan pepper noodle soup really hit the spot with the numbing mala broth.

We recently went as a family of five and the food really did not disappoint! We had a mixture of the braised beef hand pulled noodle, lamb soup noodle, braised pork rougamo, liangpi cold noodle with sesame sauce and dumpling with sour soup. The food here is authentic and definitely a must-try in Cambridge.

菜量很少，价格不便宜 The portion of the food is not worth the price (more pricy than in London + not fancily decorated, the seat spacing is very small and crowded). Some of the staff is very friendly tho 菜量很少，价格不便宜(比伦敦还贵一点+店面装修一般 位置小很挤）但有些店员很友善

Day visit to beautiful Cambridge made us very hungry. We decided to walk into this place without prior research. Omg, i'm glad we did. We had the most delicious beef noodles and dumplings soup. Shame can't have this a local Chinese as were only visiting Cambridge.

I had the cold noodles. They were good, but nothing too special. Service was quite fast but very overpriced for what you get. Not much variety of food either.

This has been the best Chinese food we have had in the UK so far! It was a surprise to find it on our day trip to Cambridge yesterday! We knew we made the right decision when all the customers in the restaurant were speaking Chinese. The order process is simple, scan the QR code, add the items, and send in the order. It was quick and easy, and our food came out fast! We ordered the fish and sauerkraut soup with handpulled noodles, cold noodles, pork and cabbage dumplings, and pork and chive dumplings. Everything was absolutely delicious, the spice level and flavours were what we missed from back home! I would definitely recommend this restaurant! Not sure if they take reservations or not as we just walked in for an earlier dinner. However, as we were leaving the place was packed! I also just saw that there's a location in London!! I'm excited to try that one out!

Amazing and authentic. I had the house special lamb noodle soup which was very tasty and surprisingly refreshing. This is one of those where locals go in their droves and with good reason.

Have reported your business for deliberately misrepresenting your prices on the menu. Saying that non-cash payment costs extra only at check out and failing to reflect it on paper is a fraudulent, dishonest, illegal practice.

Very tasty, reasonably speedy service, but quite noisy

Ordered through Deliveroo and the food did surprise me very pleasantly. I ordered the braised pork hand-made noodles and they were delicious. The Biang Biang Mian had the right amount of “al Dante” even though they were take away. Glad the noodles weren’t oily or salty. Only thing I’ll def have to do on my next order is to add chilli oil. (Am a Chinese who’s lived a fair bit of his life in Asia and have a love for Chinese food)

What’s with the portion? Too little for that price . Flavor-wise it’s good .

A very delicious Chinese restaurant. I haven’t tried Chinese noodles much, but the Sichuan noodles and the dumpling soups we tried today were delicious. :) I might want to visit there if the weather is chilly. Good!

The photos in the menu have Pak Choy, and other people's photos on google maps show the dishes with Pak Choy, yet both our dishes came with limp romaine lettuce instead. Very disappointing. That said, the #001 traditional noodles were super chewy and the dish was very tasty. Also very impressed with the dumplings. Rougamo special was okay, same with tomato soup, but I wouldn't order them again.

the pork rougamo was great (especially w/ the chilli oil), and the pork + chive dumplings in hot and sour soup were alright too, 12 dumplings in a portion! good to share. the soup was fantastic but I felt the filling to skin ratio was off.

Authentic, chewy noodles. Price is very reasonable. The cold noodles (liangpi) is very nice. Would not bother with the 拌面, the handmade noodle without soup (N003, N004) as it's not very flavourful.

I had the Xi'an style cold noodles with sesame sauce. They were delicious.

We walked in very near to closing time, were welcomed in with a smile and seated immediately. We ordered a rice and chicken dish, a noodle and pork dish, and a duck rougamo. Fast service, very tasty food. Will be back for more.

The Rougamo is crispy but the taste is different from Shaanxi (the original place). However, the taste might be twisted for the public. Overall, the taste is okay.

This place is top notch. I ordered the veg rougamo and the sliced beef sichuan pepper soup. The rougamo was outstanding. It reminded me of a Vietnamese sandwich. The soup was very tasty. Spicy for sure but not uncomfortable; it made my mouth tingle. Would definitely recommend.

Pork rougamo was delicious. Thry do great noodle soups and gyozas too. Tasty little lunch bite that beats a sandwich anyday. It's a small space but seemed clean and staff are very friendly and welcoming. Even accommodated our small pram on a busy Saturday lunch.

This is one of the most close to Chinese restaurant that serve noodle in various type and different soup as well they even got Mala Tang Noodles. Definitely recommended to try and is definitely recommended for Chinese people that get home sick

One of my favourite places in this country! I used to comer here all the time before moving away for the best rougamo and authentic hand pull noodles! The pork in classic rougamo is super juicy and tender! They are my absolute favourite! All the staffs are so welcoming and friendly! All the hand pull noodles are amazing, my absolute favourite is the chilli oil one, the beef one and the soup ones are also delicious! The portions are big as well, plenty seating available!

这家的肉夹馍和油泼面放在西安也是中上水平。一直以为高水平中餐馆都在大城市，没想到在剑桥这种小地方也能吃到。食物很正宗，这里的肉夹馍是老潼关肉夹馍不是白吉馍，唯一不明白的是为啥肉里加辣子，反正以前没吃过这种，不知道是不是迎合当地人和游客的口味，但是对整体口感没啥影响。油泼面和冰峰直接点没错，正宗。

Try the lean pork rougamo. It's some kind of a pocket stuffed sandwich. Cheap and delicious. Everything else is super essential
