Maido House Chinese Takeaway in Cambridge

Absolutely amazing customer service - i forgot to bring cash and they waived the £10 limit to pay by card. The food was also very nice.

Fantastic food and very good prices. This is our favourite takeaway in Cambridge.

Yet another unjustified set of price rises makes this a very expensive take away establishment. I suspect close to eat in Restaurant prices. Greed inflation has come to Maido….such a shame. And what’s all this about bribing customers to give 5* reviews in return for free crackers?

This was always our favourite Chinese, and its taken a lot of searching to find a good one. Unfortunately they have randomly stopped doing delivery so its not possible for us to order anymore. Such a shame. Hopefully they start up deliveries again soon.

The best takeaway in Cambridge. I have been going here for years and I love no food more than their Singapore chow mein. The staff are always friendly and the portions are always great.

It was my favourite chinese takeaway in Cambridge until they don't change management. The taste Is definitely not the same and also they increase the prize. Mini spring Rolls form 2.50 now i 4! Fried Rice from 4.60 to 6.80. Really sad and disappointed. The end of and era.

The food is disgusting nothing tasty Cooked by a unprofessional chef

Delicious food. Quite expensive but what isn't these days? We wanted a full family, slap up meal and got exactly that. The food was delicious and fresh not full of salt and chemicals like some Chinese restaurants. I would have added some photos but we ate the lot before I thought to leave a review. Highly recommended.

We really enjoy takeout from Maido House and regularly order House Special Chop Suey and Udon noodle dishes. Food is piping hot, vegetables are not overcooked and everything is ready and as ordered. We liked that they fill the takeout dishes with lots of food. 😋

First and last time I'll order from here. Lots of menus on wall and counter but when I ordered was given less change. Told that the prices had gone up but not put out new menus yet! Would've been nice to tell me before I ordered! Then the rice I ordered was a small portion for >£8!! Lots of other places serve large fried rice portions. Not worth it.

Take away on 25/10/23 - l ow quality food at above average price - ribs were dry, meatless, poor quality and tasteless. Other dishes packed out with cheap veg and tasteless. People who give this 5 stars have clearly not been to a decent Chinese take away before !

Had a delivery tonight from Deliveroo excellent food as always, had the pancake rolls (these are huge) and chips you don’t need anything else. I did muck up our order and phoned Maido and the lovely lady on the phone sorted it out and our delivery came within 15 minutes piping hot and tasty. Used Maido for years would recommend them to anyone

We ordered multiple things including crispy chilli chicken,seaweed other chicken dishes as well. Plus some other stuff . All came out promptly and was delicious 😋😋

I won’t get food from here again ,,shocking !!!!! ,,, I had a beef chow main and chips ,, the beef I wouldn’t give to a rat ,, every bit was soooo fatty and like rubber ,if you showed this to someone and asked them what meat that was ,I bet they’d never be able to tell you… 1 star for the chips.

Having just been up the hospital I opted in for a take away rather than cooking at home. The food was ready within 5 minutes. I had chicken curry. The food was just okay, nothing spectacular and certainly not something I wouldnt have been able to cook myself. Chicken curry was almost as if it had been frozen before?? Simple thin slices of chicken, mushroom, onion and peas in curry (ish) sauce. Certainly did not have that curry kick. No napkins and no prawn crackers provided.. would have been nice. Overall I have had high Hopes but slightly disappointed. I don't think I will order again. Had the food been more pricey, I would have gone back for a refund . Confused as to why the reviews are good

I ordered takeaway from here today and I called them and requested them to make it spicy and they failed to meet our request. It was bland and lacked flavour which is disappointing especially because it’s £7. I’ve had better for cheaper! The chow Mein has no vegetables or anything in it. The only good thing about it was the fact that it was hot. Never ordering from here again.

Easily the best Chinese takeout place in Cambridge!! Small family run place that has been around for long time. Unlike many of its peers it's also super clean and feels/looks very hygienic.

We stayed at The Holly Tree BnB in Cambridge and got recommended by the staff Maido House Chinese Take Away. It is in walking distance to the BnB so very convenient. Food is excellent and plentiful and the service welcoming, polite and friendly.

Good been curd selection, friendly and clean. Food was very good, main dishes cheap, yet the sundries expensive. Enjoyed it, will go back again. Fresh tasting dishes and the king prawn with bean shoots was sublime.

I love every time I go here, the service is lovely always they make good friends with customers and have great food and prices definitely worth it! Also it has a great location for other places to go to.

Maido House is a very small take away place. The woman taking the order was friendly, but the food wa not even OK (but very inexpensive). Unfortunately, their signature dishes (Sichuan dishes) were the least tasty.

Lovely food, well made and feels fresh. Only downside is they don't do delivery but you can call and order and go collect it in about 10 minutes.

Though Maido House is our nearest Chinese takeaway, I have to report that the meal we just had was very poor and borderied on inedible. We had mushroom curry that was mostly big chunks of stewed onions, a few bits of funghi and a watery brown sauce. It was pretty tasteless and we had to soak it in our own soy sauce to make it in any way palatable. But there is worse to come - the Chicken with Cashews was nothing short of horrible. A few diced frozen carrots and a small handful of cashews did little to overcome the look and taste of the chicken pieces: over-boiled, anaemic, and with a nasty aftertaste. It was, I am sure, victim of being stewed for hours in boiling water. It was limp and unpleasant. I couldn't eat it and it has been binned. The only saving grace was the dry, well cooked plain rice which did a good job of removing the nasty taste of that chicken. That's my last visit. Count us out.

Quando si ha voglia di cibo cinese/giapponese al volo è l'ideale! C'è sempre molta gente, quindi fare la fila è normale, ma ne vale assolutamente la pena. I prezzi sono comunque ragionevoli e con 20euro mangi in abbondanza! Semplicemente sconsiglio il temaki perché è da montare e se non capisci al volo come si fa ci perdi un sacco di tempo!

Went there tonight and had the BEST chinese take out Ive had in a long time. Well done!

I really wanted Maido House to be good as it's the closest takeaway to my house. After three tries, the most recent being the worst, it's over! Spring rolls the size and texture of a toilet roll tube, stuffed with limp grey bean sprouts and wrapped in the worst batter I've ever seen. Inedible. Chicken Kung Pao like McNuggets in toffee apple coating with crushed peanuts and nothing else. Inedible. Vegetable Noodles like a hastily prepared student pot noodle. Inedible. This is a Chinese family making a living cooking chinese food in a chinese restaurant. How can it be so bad? I will always support the locals but to have NOTHING edible for £ 14.00 - sorry.

The food is always excellent from the Maido House and the service is speedy. Ordering on the phone is a breeze and the food can be collected in ten or so minutes. The food is nice and hot.

Having tried a few in Cambridge this is our Chinese Takeaway of choice, and we're really pleased with it. We've tried lots of the dishes - they're great and good value too. The staff are friendly, and service is fast if it's not too busy. Would recommend the crispy chilli beef.
