Very friendly and welcoming staff. He reminded me of my grandpa! The food was so delicious and well-seasoned. The price was also reasonable since the portion was huge! We got “roasted duck with vegetables and an extra egg” and “braised beef brisket with potato and an extra egg”. Everything was clean and tidy.

The owner is very nice. The food is delicious with reasonable price. Not much MSG and not thirsty after eating.

I ordered three takeaways, and they were completely tasteless, very disappointing😞, Huiweixuan next door is so much better.

I bought the special fried rice, stir-fried vegetables, and Singapore rice noodles for takeout, and they were all very delicious and plentiful. The food is prepared after you order and comes out in no time. The vegetables are crunchy, there are a lot of toppings, and it's all very cheap at around 5-7 pounds. Those with juice are stored in plastic containers with lids, and those with steam are stored in metal containers with paper lids, making them easy to carry. Please note that spoons and forks are not included as standard (they may provide one if you ask), and you can only pay by cash.

as previous reviewer said, the restaurant itself is unassuming, but the food was fantastic - i initially thought the prices were a little on the expensive side compared to other similar places, however the portion size you get reflects this. friendly and helpful staff. am not local otherwise i would be in there all the time trying all the dishes out!

Lan Hong House ("Uncle Wangs") is a most unpromising-looking place: small, spartan, in a rather shabby row of shops. But the food is absolutely superb, and really quite cheap. It is mainand style, not Cantonese style. Uncle Wang himself, a genial bloke, speaks absolutely no English, but his wife does. Unmissable: Sweet and sour pork (not what you think it will be like); french beans; salt pepper squid/prawn; marinated sliced beef, chicken with fried rice vermicelli.

Delicious food (the sweet and sour pork is amazing). Food comes quick and is very good price. Also very close to town which is nice if you want to go out later or meet friends centrally.

Love this place. So inexpensive. The owner is so relaxed and friendly. Dining in is an option since there are two tables, but it's mostly a takeaway place. It's such an inexpensive place (~5-6 pounds / meal) that I take all my friends when we want to catch up over lunch.

The value that for the price is unbeatable (in Cambridge). They have a large selection of meals, all of which are good, but some of which are great. We eat there (or collect food) regularly without a slightest problem.

Welcome back to R&H's crazy reviews This week we decided to "chow" down at Lan Hong House. With large portions for cheap prices, this place is a great location for students. They are very generous with toppings as well, and service is quick. Offers eating in with a cosy dinning atmosphere or takeaway. In summary, a solid Chinese takeaway option for an evening in. Friendly warning, currently only accepting cash. Until next time, Pasta la Vista.

Good food for take away. Clean shop. Price is good too. We come back again after a year. Food and price are still good.

The salt and pepper king prawns were not crispy they were a sticky tasteless mess swimming in oil the veg Inc was burnt and no chilli's in there. I asked for 2 special fried rice it was basically boiled white oily rice with some meat and veg chucked in no seasoning. The BBQ ribs were ok ISH. The chow mein was under fried and very oily . Spring roll was mediocre and the sweet and sour the same . It's sad but true Cambridge has so many restaurants I'm adding this one to the never again .

Order (takeaway) history: 1. mapo tofu 2. black bean beef 3. braised pork 4. duck noodles 5. pork and chives dumpling 6. braised beef noodles soup Happily give them 5/5 for food tastes, service quality, preparation speed, and reasonable prices.

The best budget Chinese restaurant in Cambridge

After walking down Regent Street and seeing every Chinese packed full of people and no room for us we carried on walking and stumbled across Lan Hong House. Please don't let the outside put you off. There are two tables inside and so we ate in. Food was served hot and tasted so fresh, we enjoyed every dish we ordered. The prices were amazing, rice, chowmein and two mains for £16.00. Looking forward to visiting Cambridge again just to eat more food here!

Was authentic Cantonese food, but not now. My rating was in memory for the experience I was there 2 years ago.两年前没做任何攻略，路过随手买了个蒜薹猪俐饭，很好吃。起码菜单是正宗粤味。

If you are craving for good vietnamese and chinese food while on a budget, Lan Hong House is the place for you. Their Seafood fried rice and Pho will fill you up after a long walk around the City Centre depending on what portion you prefer (e.g. small, medium, large)- so share a table with a friend... "A friend" because the place is rather small... you can always get the food to go. It is definitely a must try...

This place has now got a different owner and the old takeaway menu has been completely replaced. Really sad because the food doesn't taste the same and the previous owner was awesome and friendly :(

I ordered a Peking Chicken and it was delicious! The food was hot when served and it's really cheap.

We had a takeaway, selecting from both the "English" and "Chinese" menus and after a few bites from our four dishes the whole lot went in the bin. I've got a list, if you care to go any further, but I would just avoid the place and search elsewhere.1) everything was swimming in vast quantities of an unpleasant unknown oil2) everything was highly overcooked3) the fish was past its best.4) the vegetables were past their best, if they were ever good in the first place.5) the beef: I don't know where to start.6) the "sauce": I don't know what it was everything was cooked in, but it wasn't like anything I'd ever tasted before.7) the fried rice: I can't explain how they managed to make fried rice quite so awfulI don't know how they remain in business, and I'd be ashamed if in my, life I produced anything quite so bad, let alone sell it.The lady behind the counter who was very nice, must have been a decoy!

Everything you could ask for for a Friday night takeaway. Best Peking Chicken in Cambridge at a very reasonable price! I'd highly recommend number 25. Also good are 24, 22 and 15.

They have two menu! One for Chinese n one for local! The same kinds of food but different prices! The one written in Chinese is more expensive than the one written in English only! More than 25% different!

Good value but the food was cold , if it was a proper temperature it would have been ok , limited choice and uncomfortable seating didnt endear me to this restaurant.

Avoid the buffet unless you're into generic food. Order off the large menu for something authentic and cheap.

This is my husband favourite Chinese stall in Cambridge. Very good and humble boss, flexible with their menu and food is really tasty. Most importantly, their menu are reasonably priced compared to many other Chinese take away. It is hard to find authentic nice Asian...

Most, no - virtually all Chinese takeaways in Cambridge offer some form of generic British Chinese food. You know the favourites, the stuff you'll never find any self-respecting Chinese person eating, let alone find in China - we're talking Pork Balls here etc.Anyway, catch this place at the wrong time, ie lunch and it's teaming with hordes of Chinese students grabbing a taste of home, but lets face it - that is a good sign!!Although you can buy British Chinese food (which I haven't actually tried) they also sell £5 dishes which are a bed of rice with a generous topping of your choice. Be adventurous!! Give it a try and it will only cost £5, so if you don't like it it won't break the bank!!

Lan Hong House is a hidden gem. The outside is very unassuming, and the position next door to The Golden House (very inferior chinese takeaway) is not promising, but in fact the food is outstanding. They have a great selection of chinese, malaysian and thai dishes, all of which (as far as I have sampled) are excellent. Favourites include their lemon chicken, beef rendang and excellent singapore noodles.Try it - you won't be disappointed.

How to have a great lunch:Order in and sit in the window (avoid hours 1 to 2 - it's mobbed).How to have an intimate dining experience (and save money):Buy some candles, a bottle of wine, and your dinner from the small jewel that is Lan Hong House. The quality of food and service is excellent. Go there now while the chef or chefs is/are still there: That talent will be wooed away soon enough. Forget the Cambridge restaurant scene unless you absolutely must get out and about. Service is always excellent, polite and prompt.Food is always fresh and delicious, careful if you order it with chilli, my chilli fried rice has blown my head off a couple of timesThe atmosphere needs to be seen to be belived, I phone my order through at lunch time because you can’t get through the door. The place is packed with language students, elbow to elbow standing in the small room with a great variety of dishes.
