Great food, tasty and lots of choice. Chicken noodles, chicken satay, duck pancakes and BBQ pork were great. Servers kept our table of 8 topped up with drinks.

The restaurant was beautiful and the server was very friendly. My girlfriend and I got a sharing platter as a starter and it was excellent. I didn’t take photos of our mains, because they looked so good we dug in without thinking. I would definitely come back again in the future.

Absolutely delicious food - we've been enjoying their food for 2 years now, and would thoroughly recommend it! Additionally, the service is fantastic - the only time we've had an issue with an order, they quickly and effectively resolved the issue. Overall, I would absolutely recommend The Dumpling Tree!

Most likely the best Chinese restaurant in Cambridge

Had the Chinese New Year supper at this restaurant. The service was extremely bad - the meals were put down on the table then waiters disappeared. Nobody had ever served a drink. When asked for a takeaway box, it was put on the table without a bag. I had to ask for a plate for the dumplings, had to pack up the left over meal myself, had to ask for a takeaway bag. I was charged 12.5% for the service. Food was good but not impressed with the service. Will never go back again!

The food was surprisingly very good and authentic. The owner and their family were very attentive to all our needs and fast with the food. Accommodation all our wishes to be customized for the kids. Highly recommend for an authentic food experience with great and fast service.

We enjoyed a great meal here to celebrate a birthday. The service was excellent, the food arrived quickly and the waiters were attentive and helpful. The food was all very tasty with great flavours. We especially enjoyed the juicy king prawns and the yummy dumplings. A drink on the house for the birthday girl was a very kind gesture. There were clear signs on arrival to input the car registration to ensure free parking.

Delicious interesting dumplings, one of the which might be undercooked. So almost 4.5 stars for now. Recommended by my Chinese and French friends. It’s worth the trip across the railway (though I was running some errand 1km away, I might come back specially for food here). Dirty dozen to sample all the meat dumplings including prawns （which is surprisingly not mixed with pork and really refreshing). Coriander lamb is really unique in flavors. The chicken one is juicy. The beef meatball is sturdier but nicely seasoned with white pepper. One of the dumplings (maybe chicken) can be cooked a little longer tho in my afterthought. That filling was a bit squishy and transparent, but it was a small dumpling so I didn’t manage to stop and think… it’s still worth coming for the flavors so I’ll remind the kitchen next time lol. The dumpling skins are springy as the way I like. Veggie skewer is crispy light and piping hot inside. Different batter from tempura but no less airy. Gooey zucchini and eggplant and sweet sweet potato! The taste of Yunnan part sounds really enticing too. The price has been going up but still reasonable for Cambridge. The staff member was friendly. The lady behind me is boasting about her study abroad agency lol— could have had some background music.

Staff were very friendly and attentive. Asked about any allergies straight away. The food was DELICIOUS!!! Highly recommend the chilli chicken!! Loved the rose flower tea too. We ordered the braised beef noodle soup, mixed meat dumplings (fried) and the egg custard buns for dessert. The custard buns were tasty but would've been better to add a fried option with condensed milk to dip the buns in. Loved the decor although in some parts were a little run down (cable ties for a door handle in the female toilets). Would definitely come back again :D

My favorite restaurant I have eaten in in the UK i regularly never leave reviews on anything but this one definitely deserved one, the atmosphere and decoration was beautiful and authentic. All the servers were so delightful and served us with patience. Cannot wait to come back when I visit back again! Definitely need a place like this in the north!!

The Billing process was not ethical, they charge 22 pound more for service and didn't warn. At 21h30 they didn't make US desserts, all their kitchen staff went home early before we can't even ask for desserts. My noddles with prawn, ONLY had 5 small prawns!, all noddles tasted the same.

Teníamos una mesa reservada para las 6 pm el sábado. Cuando entramos nos llevaron a la mesa. El agua ya estaba embotellada en la mesa. El personal de espera nos hizo esperar durante 17 minutos para tomar bebidas orden. Pasaba un camarero y decidió dar un paso atrás preguntando a qué estábamos esperando. Empezamos a pedir bebidas y mi esposo pidió una cerveza que no estaba disponible, luego otra que tampoco estaba disponible. En ese momento la camarera ni siquiera se molestó en dar información sobre lo que está disponible. Cuando empezó a tomar pedidos de comida pasó por entrantes y uno de nuestros principales. Entonces ella se alejó y tuvimos que volver a llamarla para pedir el segundo plato principal para nosotros. Hemos pedido una botella de vino que ni siquiera fue abierta por el camarero en la mesa para nosotros y vino vertido en las copas. Para empezar tuvimos albóndigas de pollo y setas nadando en sopa caliente y agria que era muy agradable. Pedí chiles frescos extra que llegaron en pocos segundos. Frito Docenas sucias de albóndigas también fueron sabrosas servidas con una salsa salada en el medio. Main llegó dentro de 10 minutos después de los entrantes, que era encantador. Aunque uno de nosotros obtuvo curso completo donde la otra persona solo arroz y que le digan que el plato de carne está en camino. Tuvimos que cubrir un arroz con un plato lateral para mantenerlo caliente hasta que llegue el segundo principal. Al final solicitamos arroz nuevo que se entregó sin ningún problema. Platos principales era muy sabroso, muy bien condimentado. Al final no estábamos contentos con el cargo por servicio, así que pedimos que se redujera a una cantidad más baja que la factura final que nos dio el propietario Jove. Él estaba feliz de escuchar los comentarios ya que era nuestra primera visita. Era muy amable, hablador y abierto, feliz de hablar. A pesar de las fallas del servicio disfrutamos de la comida que es la más importante y el servicio se puede mejorar fácilmente. Gracias por recibirnos.

Fabulous experience, we booked a table quite late, they fit us in for 7pm. Amazing service and quality of food Outstanding !!! This is definately our new favourite place for sure !! They add Service Charge 12.5% but well deserved by team members who make you feel welcome and attended to. Thank you all for making my special evening lovely x oh and my plus 1 was good company too !

I love this place. The food and service are great and they often put on events which is nice to see. The parking is really convenient. I can’t wait to try more dishes from the menu. So far I’ve enjoyed the legendary noodles and the tempura mushrooms.

I recently visited this restaurant, and I found the food to be good and the service friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, I encountered an issue with a parking fine due to some unclear signage, which dampened the experience. However, Anthony, the owner, was incredibly helpful and proactive in resolving the situation. He went out of his way to ensure the fine was canceled and that I could get a refund from the rental company. His kindness and willingness to assist really turned things around and made me appreciate the restaurant even more. Great customer care—thank you!

We had a lovely time as a large party at The Dumpling Tree. The service was friendly and attentive, and there was a copious selection of delicious vegan options. We particularly enjoyed the tempura mushrooms, hoisin walnuts and 'tofu flurry noodles'. Myself and my partner were visiting from Hong Kong, where of course we have a lot of Chinese cuisine, and it was one of the best meals we've had for a while! There is also plenty of parking and there are no steps, making the restaurant ideal for those with accessibility needs.

The food is utterly amazing. We are regular customers even though we don’t live in Cambridge. Parking is free which is amazing. Everyone is very friendly. And back to the food ……. It just get better and better. This is our favourite restaurant.

The food is delicious and staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. They have a nice selection of drinks and always have some interesting/fun cocktails. We love coming back here. Lot of good comfort food :) And plenty of parking space if you need to drive (parking is verified inside the restaurant).

My husband found this place & we travelled in from Milton Keynes and it did not disappoint. The venue is nicely decorated, has a trendy vibe to it but the food is amazing. Very different to any other Chinese & amazing flavours & variety. Service was spot on & they went above & beyond to make my birthday lunch special. Thank you to the young gentleman who served us! Pleasant eating experience with friendly attentive staff. Came in alone in Sunday afternoon. Been wanting to try this place! Had simple soup(only £3), crispy wings, fried pork dumplings and salt and pepper squid. First time I've ordered squid since issues with my teeth, and it went down a treat! Very yummy. Surprisingly spacious restaurant. I will return!

This is one of Yunnan's most famous dishes. It's a hot, flavorful pork broth served separately from various ingredients like thinly sliced meat, vegetables, and rice noodles. We mixed everything into the hot broth to cook and enjoyed it very much

Had the best experience with our waiter Catriona, thank you so much! We ordered the chicken and sweetcorn soup, chicken chow mein, mixed vegetable stir fry and vegetable spring rolls which were delicious.

We had an amazing meal here- a big family group celebrating a 9 year old’s birthday. The food and service were great. Our waitress was super efficient, friendly and very patient with us!! Fabulous place. Would highly recommend!

Fabulous meal with beautifully prepared, authentic Yunnan dishes. We lived in Beijing 15 years ago and the Yunnan restaurants there were always our favourites - so amazing to be able to taste these dishes again. The kids (9&10 yr old) loved the wonton soup noodles and braised pork soup noodles. Extremely good service - our waitress was excellent. Really surprised (and delighted!) to receive a free bottle of Prosecco as it was my husband’s birthday.

The food is out of this world, and so is the atmosphere.

I like the decor. The food was the main thing. I think well prepared and seems much more authentic than others in the area. Great noodle soup dish and dumplings look and taste home made. This is a rarity in the UK. WELL DONE!

First time here. Food was nice but everything was so dry they don’t do sauce. Need to sell some side sauces. The beef was soft but so dry. Service was ok nothing special Think the music choice was a bit odd some nice Chinese music maybe and not club bangers. Not sure adding service charge on automatically is fair in such an establishment. 153 pound bill turned in to 173. Service wasn’t 20 pound service.

Very nice peaceful place. Excellent food and friendly staff. One of the favourite places in Cambridge. Now ,,spoon of tar in a barrel of honey,, My favourite dish, ,, Dirty dozen dumplings,, slightly worsened last year (doug become thicker) it's still good but before was better. One star off is for the included service charge. I always tip but I prefer to do it on my good will but not when I'm forced to do so.

Loud music and children running around the restaurant set the tone for the evening. It was almost like being at a kids party. We couldn’t hear each other speak until after the volume of the music was lowered - but one of the waiters told me he would have to text HQ to get it lowered!! The food - fiery chicken was not spicy, aromatic crispy duck was about 70% fat and was soft. Other food ordered by my family was equally poor, however some meals were still very good. Unfortunately the dumplings were not as nice as they used to be. The Dumpling Tree is dropping leaves. Then there was our waitress. Maybe there was a language problem or perhaps she didn’t understand the products sold at the restaurant. Ordering apple juice and lemonade resulted in a challenge that resulted in wrong drinks being brought to the table. Our starters arrived after our main courses. Everything was poor. Such a shame because our previous visits were very rewarding.

Excellent services. The servers honestly let us know what ingredients and marinates were included for gluten-free options. The Char Siu (BBQ Pork) with Rice was delicious, so did the King Prawns Fried Noodles, which could have been even better if it was less salty and oily. Overall, a 100% satisfaction.

We had a great experience at Dumpling Tree. From the moment we walked in the staff was friendly and welcoming. The food was incredible and came out at a reasonable pace. We will be coming back for more!

New Menu As I have said before, it's unfair to compare any UK Asian restaurants with the ones in Asia. Actually oriental decorations like that are very rare in Asia. I guess a strong national style is very important for any overseas Asian businesses. Evitable. The decorations are impressive in the majority's eyes, but at the end the food is more important than any physical presentation. The menu has changed, very different than in the past. Changed in chef or management? I think the dumplings were much better than the past. It was obvious that they were prepared from the stretch. Impressive. The pork belly was very lean, not melt into your mouth. But at least would not damage your teeth. I can understand, the UK majority really scares of eating red meat full of marbling--they prefer hyper lean protein. Don't forget to bring dental floss if you want to order this. The soup of the rice noodles was a bit too salty. Friendly staff. Clean and nice environment. Short waiting time. Impressive dumplings. Overall it is a nice Asian restaurant in the UK.

Delicious! We got excellent advice on what to order. My companion said it was the best Chinese food he'd ever eaten! Everyone tried something new and the children even helped make some dumplings as it was quiet when we arrived for an early supper. Our new favourite! Will definitely return.
