In an idyllic spot at the end of a road to nowhere, the Tickled Trout combines excellent sea-food with soft beds, luxurious linen and a deep bath. Their Queenie Scallops in a scallop shell was a generous portion of beautifully cooked shellfish in an unctuous creamy cheesy sauce. The haddock in beer batter was cooked to perfection and the panna cotta wobbled invitingly in accompanying strawberry gels and sauces. Delicious wines and attentive, friendly staff made the evening a really memorable occasion. Breakfast was excellent and we would love to stay again!

Amazing fish and chips, really glad I discovered this place. The food was up there with the very best I have ever had out of the countless chip shops I have tried up and down the country. Got to be the best in Reading and probably Berkshire too. Expertly cooked to order with quality ingredients getting every aspect just right. Light, crisp batter with tender fresh cod inside with the best chips I have had in a very long time - chunky thick cut, nice golden brown colour, crisp on the outside and soft potato inside. Both the fish and the chips were well drained and not greasy. Cod, small chips and mushy peas cost £11.10. Not the cheapest but worth every penny and nice large portion sizes. The food was well packed in a cardboard box so stayed warm and didn’t go soggy at all before eating. The shop looks a bit run down on the outside and isn’t in the nicest part of town, but don’t let that put you off, it’s very clean inside and has 5/5 food hygiene rating. Friendly service and the usual menu choices. This is one of those places that looks like it hasn’t changed in decades, but with food that good there is nothing that needs changing! Highly recommended, I will definitely be back. Cannot fault them, wish it was my local!

Visited for brunch; great selection; had the beef hash; fabulous beef cheek braised in stock and red wine for 5hours then with potatoes and herbs and topped with fried egg; delicious. Rest of menu looked great too, plus choices for lunch and dinner. The coffee was good, as was the ambience and service. Will return.

We came to buy shellfish today. I have always really loved shellfish. Bought winkles and shrimps, would have loved to buy much more, but be back another day as all looked to appetizing. Staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. I plan to return within the week.

You'll find By The Quayside on Blakeney Quay (on the right hand side of the car park as you go in). This is a must visit. You can eat outside at the tables or get your food to take away. Whilst we were staying at Blakeney, we enjoyed a variety of their delicious food. Sandwiches - Tuna; smoked salmon and dill and horseradish dressing; fresh crab - all served on really fresh bread and generously filled. We also tried the salt and pepper squid, which came with a dip; their own fish finger sandwich (lovely toasted ciabatta roll with just the right amount of dressing; dressed crab; and half a lobster tail. Everything, including the dressed crab and lobster, are made to order. No pre-packaged food here, all served up with a smile and a chat. So, so friendly. One day we were late home and they were packing up, but it wasn't any trouble for them to make up our order. I can't stress how generous the portions were - but even more important was the price. For the quality and freshness, other fish stalls/huts were almost twice the price. Which was the reason we kept returning and urge you to go too. My husband actually heard the owner speaking to another local business person, who was suggesting she should put her prices up (Blakeney is an expensive place); but she was firm in her belief that she wanted it to be affordable for the many visitors that came to the town and was happy with what she was charging. To the lovely ladies that run the stall, thank you so much for being so friendly and accommodating, we're just sorry that we didn't get your names so we could credit you. We wish you continued success.

This place started as a pop up place around the are and now they have their own permanent place. I went there with a friend to see what is like. Customer service is excellent. It was not busy but the atmosphere was good with some good music. We ordered cocktails and food both really good. They do happy hour 3-7pm two cocktails for £14 pounds. We had the wings and the shrimp fries. Drinks were good and strong. I recommend checking it!

Always go here every week for wonderufl fresh seafood and also wonderful hot extras such as prawn curry and other specials which sell out quickly. Never had a bad batch from here.
