Absolutely incredible food; every bite was a genuine wonder. The care and attention that the chefs put into each individual element is so evident, and the servers were incredibly attentive and kind. The mussles especially were one of the best plates of food I've ever had. I will be recommending it to anybody and everybody

Me and my partner recently discovered street urchin and it quickly became a favorite spot for us. The rotating specials menu makes every vist new, normally including seasonal fish or meat. The dishes are always high quality, taste fresh, and you can tell that the chefs put in a lot of care into the dishes. Although slightly on the pricey side for us as students, I think the price is completely fair. There's also a range of meat, fish and vegetable dishes based on your dietary preferences. The atmosphere is cosy and quaint, again we can see the care taken to the environment making sure it's clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and attentive. If you're in Manchester I would 100 percent recommend coming to street urchin if you can. Particular shout out to the raw monkfish, one of the best appetizers I've ever had.

This place is absolutely unreal, the food is of such high quality, the prices are so good. I had the crispy monk fish and my friend had the scallops. There was so much on the plate, an absolute feast. The staff were so attentive, I was really hot and they brought me a fan, they constantly top up your water. A must go to if you are in Manchester. We will definitely be going back.

The food is amazing!! High quality and made with love. Two of us ordered 2 small and 2 large plates then 2 desserts and shared everything. It was perfect I don’t think you could order a bad meal and i loved being able to share for more variety. The menu changes daily and is emailed to you which was really helpful. The service was really friendly and efficient everything flowed smoothly and before we knew it 2 hours had passed. It is a small place so I recommend booking. Can’t wait to return when next in Manchester.

We visited because of the excellent reviews and the location. We were celebrating our son moving to the city. Loved the design with all the hanging plants, it felt relaxed and not noisy so easy to talk. There was a buzzy, warm atmosphere. I wasn't sure what my husband would think of the menu because he can be fussy and doesn't eat much seafood but he chose the lamb and said it was delicious. I had the small plate of mussels, which was enough for me- a beautiful creamy sauce and bread to mop it up. My son had the crispy monkfish which was beautifully presented and had a variety of subtle flavours. We chose 3 different desserts so that we could try each others and loved them all- a moist coconut cake, treacle tart and little manchester tart parcels. The service was excellent. We would definately recommend and will return when we have another occasion to celebrate or just fancy a really good meal in a great setting.

Absolutely loved our dining experience at this Manchester gem! Despite not having a booking, the very accommodating staff found us a great table. The ambience was lovely, setting the stage for a delightful evening. The menu was imaginative, offering tasty and interesting flavors that were far from your average fare. The desserts were both delicious and well-priced. Special shout-out to the lovely maître d' who made us feel very welcome. Don't waste your time - or money! Food is okay, but certainly not worth the prices. What was most shocking was the service: unapologetically slow despite the place being empty. We had to ask the lady with a short red bob several times to come over and collect the empty plates, then had to almost beg for the desserts menu, then had to ask again for her to come over to actually be able to order the dessert. Appreciate the laid back atmosphere, but as said, those prices most certainly require better service.

We finally had the pleasure of dining at “Street Orchin” this evening, after several attempts hampered by their Monday and Tuesday closures. It was well worth the wait! From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the simple yet cool decor, which perfectly set the tone for the evening. The food was exceptional—each dish was unique, flavorful, and showcased the chef’s evident passion for cooking. The desserts were equally delightful and distinctive. The service was impeccable. Both waitresses were friendly, polite, and attentive, enhancing our overall experience. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the food and service. This family run restaurant is a little out of the city centre but definitely deserves a visit. We've been there quite a few times now and always leave having had a lovely evening. The secret is out so booking is strongly recommended. We arrived at 6:30 pm on a Thursday and it was already ticking over nicely with a terrific atmosphere. There isn't a menu as such but a couple of chalkboards with the days specials on. On this occasion we had the skate wing which was done with ginger and was absolutely amazing. The veal scallop was also brilliant and both were big portions with really well matched accompaniments. The wine list is carefully thought out and not expensive. The services is also top class so a visit here is highly recommended.

After an afternoons walk to Salford Quays on a beautiful sunny day, we wanted a seafood dinner, and chose Street Urchin, a small private restaurant that specialises in seafood and game dishes. They have made the most of their bijou space...turning a concrete box into an intimate and cosy dining room, over 2 floors. There are no table menus, all the information you need is written on the large blackboards ....so they can be regularly updated or changed. We selected the crab thermidor and the haddock and clam chowder from their small dishes, and the seared sea bass and the rare t bone pork from their large. Here a warning...if you are from London...do not expect their small to be that! They are equivalent to a main course! The balance of flavours, the use of ingredients....they were both excellent. We started to worry if we would manage our mains!! And then they arrived! They were superb. The sea bass was flaked and perfectly cooked, the pork in it cider sauce was tender and full of flavour. Another win. So...we did find room for dessert...I went for the almond and coconut cake and hubby went for the sorbets.. strawberry daquari and mango, ginger and vodka. I turned down the Manchester money bags as I didn't have enough room...but deep fried filo pastry filled with custard with jam!!! That's Def for next time. The cake was warm and moist... exactly as it should be, the sorbets...you could happily drink them! A huge congratulations to Kevin and Jetan, Roxanne and Rachel...you made our evening. I've never said this before, but I'd move to Manchester just to be able to eat here.

Really interesting mix of food dishes to try. You can see and taste the effort that goes into them. Tried cuttlefish for the first time (like rubbish calamari) and the Braised Beef Short Rib was quite impressive! My kids can be fussy eaters, but we're eating things that they wouldn't normally go for and enjoying them because they were done so well. The staff I felt could have been a little more attentive, and there was this really odd moment when we first arrived where a server said something to my son in a way that was borderline unnecessary, (but can't completely confirm it was meant the way it sounded). I would recommend the restaurant, simply for the range of interesting food on offer.

Restaurant on the main street in ancoats / near town. Visited during the weekend around lunch time - make sure to make a reservation. If you have pets, they're allowed but make sure you tell the restaurant in advance otherwise they get very picky (we went with our dog and forgot to tell them in advance so when we arrived, they said that we can bring him but if it dirties the carpet under the table, we have to pay for it. Not sure why they didnt just give us a different table without carpet underneath). Menu has some unique dishes and meats - it changes on a regular basis. I ordered the partridge and it was ok. One of the highest calibre meals we’ve had in Manchester, a fresh seafood delight. Even the dressing on the side salad was fantastic which shows that all aspects of the meal were thought out. At the pricier end but portions more than make up for this, didn’t even have space for dessert which is really saying something. Restaurant downstairs is slightly strangely laid out which means that one of you is likely to be just facing the street - this is really the only thing I could think of that could be tweaked perhaps. I was very excited to eat here, but found the food under seasoned and disappointing. The meat and fish were cooked nicely, but the presentation was messy and the flavours a-bit mismatched. We were misguided on the dish sizes, the large plates were huge and enough for 2 to share. As suggested we had ordered 2 smalls and 2 larges, which was very expensive. To describe their mains as North African dishes is an issue to North African culture. The description of the dishes sounded very appealing , however the quality provided was very flat. The “tagine” had no inspiration of North African cuisine and any criticism was left on deft ears. The lack of both taste and theme was very depressing; there was a lot to be desired for. The defensiveness of the manager was a severe put off to the whole experience. The “tagine” tasted like boiled white fish in pea soup. It was such a disappointment and it did not meet our expectations considering the price.

Fantastic restaurant with a seasonal menu and local produce, great for trying new foods (tried pheasant and cuttle fish for the first time!). Great service too. Can't wait to come again and see what's new on the menu!

Service was wonderful, always attentive & welcoming. Food menu was very special, so many delectable dishes it was difficult to choose. We went with starters of Smoked Mackeral & Panko Cuttlefish which were fantastic dishes. The Cuttlefish comes with panko crumbed pineapple pieces which were divine - I never want to eat pineapple any other way now! The mains were ok, Pheasant was quite dry & we needed to douse it with sauce that came with the Heritage Carrots side dish we ordered. The King Scallops were sweet & delicious but it felt a little measley paying £25 & only getting 3. They were served in shell with a thick creamy sauce with small prawns which tasted just too much, I would have liked the delicate scallops in something lighter. Still really happy though. We drank a Sour Cherry, Grape & Hibiscus cordial with soda & it was refreshing & awesome, we ordered another round.

This is a gem of a restaurant. A melting pot of cuisine flavours that are familiar to the English palette but elevated into refined dishes. The dishes are served as small or large plates, perfect for sharing. The dishes are quite rich, and therefore, between four, we shared five small plates, a side of fries, and one large plate. We particularly enjoyed the beef tataki and the halibut with smoked haddock and leek beignets.

11/10 would recommend! Overall, the food was top notch, amazing service, cosy vibes with loads of plants (the thing that attracted me to the restaurant) and something to treasure 😋 For small plates, we had: 🥩Rare Beef Fillet Tataki - The soy sesame dressing was packed full of flavours that complemented the tender beef. There were beef + pickled ginger wontons in this dish too that had a very crispy wonton skin and a well balanced filling 🐟 Trout Ceviche - The trout was so fresh! What surprised me in this dish were how well seasoned the avocado mousse was. The lime, coriander + chilli were subtle but brought great freshness to this dish! For large plates, we had: 🐟 Halibut (specials) - Well cooked halibut with a spinach+leek beurre blanc (sauce) that enhanced the flavours of the dish. It came with smoked haddock beignets that complemented the soft halibut, adding texture to the dish. The crispy seaweed was such a good addition to the presentation and pairs well with the dish. 🐟 Roast Cod loin - Less heavy flavours when compared to the above dishes, but had a hearty miso+clam butter which had a creamy texture. The cod was topped with herb crumbs and came with very fresh clams. For desserts, we got panna cotta 🍮 that had such a thick creamy texture. It came with peaches, raspberries and a gingerbread that complemented the dish so well. For drinks, we got: 🍷Black Beer w Rasin Wine - Tasted like pedro ximénez with a hint of stout. 🍹Yuzu, Lemon n Tumeric - Surprisingly very tasty and refreshing! p.s. for the bad pics, i was too excited to eat 😅 To note, their menu changes weekly (some dishes may stay). When you book with them, they would send you their menu on the day of the booking (or you could pop by to see their menu) - i hope you’ll be able to try the dishes i did because i enjoyed the food so much that i would come back again.

Our third our fourth visit to Street Urchin and another exceptional meal with outstanding welcome and service from Rachel and her team. We've been to many restaurants in Manchester since our previous meal at Street Urchin, and it remains by far the best pound for pound restaurant in the city. Interesting and varied menu with each dish cooked to perfection, and you don't leave hungry! Some newcomer restaurants would do well to take a look at Street Urchin and learn more than a thing or two!

My wife, 9 yr old daughter and I booked in while we were in Manchester on December 3th for a game at the Etihad and wow!! this place lived up to our expectations. One of the best meals I’ve ever had!! Staff were great, wine choices great and atmosphere just right. I had a starter (Onion dosa pancake with crab and sweet potato masala) and main (pan fried halibut with smoked haddock beignets with a spinach and leek beurre blanc) from the specials board. The dessert I had was incredible and was nicknamed Manchester Moneybags and were apparently a take on Manchester Tarts (Balls of custard filled pastry deep fried with coconut and raspberry jam) 🤤🤤🤤 Highly highly recommended and worth every penny.

Ever changing menu was emailed on the morning of our visit. It’s a market diner so don’t expect the same choices on your next visit. And believe me there will be a next time. The food is outstanding, by far the best dinning experience I have had in a long time. The menu is inventive, excellent service, reasonably priced. Not to be missed

A fabulous meal on the lead up to Christmas. The restaurant was refreshingly airy and the service was great. The menu had plenty of options for all tastes, loads of veggie and fish options. Meat was on the down low, not the focus of the menu. Excellent

Genuinely one of the best meals I've eaten in Manchester! Between 3 of us, we shared 3 starters, the platter for 2, and a side of chips. Generous portions, delicate flavours, everything we ate was delicious. Excellent service. It was less than £45 a head with drinks, so amazing value as well. 100% would return!

Whenever I work in this area, I always go to Waterside Cafe on Redhill St Manchester 4. Appropriately named, this delightful, clean, welcoming cafe sits by the canal. Inside it is very clean with an extensive light meal/snack menu. There are deep settees to relax in or chairs and tables. People sit with their newspapers or laptops. The owners are so helpful, friendly and accommodating. My favourite thing is the goat's cheese panini which is really good quality. Go there, it's a lovely place.

Food was.. OK. It was reasonably tasty, and the prawns weren't overcooked. We got the 50 prawn platter, so didn't try a huge range of things. It was a decent amount of food between the 2 of us, but not too filling, expected the prawns to be slightly bigger. We ordered a sticky toffee pudding for dessert and it very much did not deliver. It felt more like a light sponge that had been soaked in a toffee sauce. When you order a sticky toffee pudding, you expect it to be quite dense, with a sticky sauce that makes it almost slightly chewy. We didn't get that at all. The dessert was poor, and what drags the overall rating down. Prawns were 4/5, pudding was 0/5 really.
