Firstly an apology to Waz, I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to write a review for your bistro, and more over I'm sorry the adventure has ended; albeit a new one is now in motion. I came here at the request of a good friend of mine, and fellow food blogger back in December 2022. I was told that the chef knew his stuff, and that the food was very reminiscent of the street food cafes we had visited during our time in Morocco, and Southern France; my friend wasn't wrong. I ordered a starter of Calamari Fritters, served with a Garlic & Saffron Mayo, for the main a Roasted Quail accompanied by dauphinoise potatoes and a fig sauce, and for dessert my go to Christmas Pudding. My first impression of Waz's Bistro is that its a tidy affair, on par with some of the smaller bistros you would normally encounter in the city. The staff although young, were attentive, and if they were unsure would ask the kitchen. The wine list was hit and miss; so I stuck to dealers choice and ordered a cocktail. The starter arrived around the fifteen minute mark from order, not withstanding the location; wasn't to bad of a ticket time. The Calamari Fritters were crispy on the outside, and the Calamari succulent when chewed. The mayo added a nice bite as the garlic added a subtle dimension, the saffron was perfectly measured, and like the garlic added an extra dimension to the dish. The main course was roughly ten minutes from when the young chap took my entre plate away, again ticket times are clearly a priority to the chef. The Quail was unfortunately a bit drier than what I would have normally liked, but still ticked all the boxes regarding taste and presentation. The potatoes were just that, nothing abusive to the taste buds, nor offensive to the eye. The Fig Sauce though was something to behold, perfectly balanced, and complimented the quail beautifully; bravo Chef, Bravo! Now to the disappointment. After my plate was taken away, I was left for roughly twenty minutes before what in my eyes was a travesty. The Christmas Pudding was undercooked, and even though it was perfectly fruited, it was a trudge to eat it. The bill was thirty-five pounds excluding the cocktail, and to be honest that's cheap considering other Bistros. It was overall a great night out So how do I rate Waz? More so now that he's closed his doors. I believe a nod of respect to his talent, and acknowledgment of all he did for the industry in Bromsgrove is a good place to start Bon Chance Waz.

I can only give you my review and you can see from my other reviews I rarely give bad reviews. The serving staff were youngsters who were pleasant ( hence the one star) but looked nervy and didn't appear to know what was going on. The food was absolutely awful. I ordered sea food risotto, which was a bowl of mussels, a few prawns and a separate bowl of boiled rice, which was dry and tastless. My husbands dish was equally bad.

Party of 6 including 2 kids for Mother’s Day. Children were given a free choice of what they had and were excited at this and the open kitchen. Their food came immediately giving us time to chat and relax, as well as pinch a chip or two 😆 great way of serving! We waited no time at all for our starters and mains of which we all couldn’t wait to try each others. We struggled to choose and all the way home we spoke of the other choices on the menu that we wanted to try. (All of them) Attention to detail and presentation are amazing. Chef Waz attending to every table served, this is not a touch you get anywhere!! Finger bowls were filled in seconds and staff were on hand before we noticed to replace. My Daughter is extremely picky about what and where she eats. I was worried she would struggle. I think meeting the chef (Waz) put her mind at rest and fears at bay, she eats steak rare to medium rare and had nothing but compliments for her fillet glazed in 24ct gold 😇 she is converted 😆🙏 Great ambience and by no way your standard restaurant! Decide what your dining for? Unique Quality and presentation as well as service and ambience or cost? …….. we loved it! I’ve had buffets at Waz’s previously but never a sit down meal. What a treat 👍🙏 Thank you Waz and team , we’ll be back 👍☺️

My Wife and I visited Waz’s Bistrot for our Valentines meal and what a lovely evening we had. My wife had the Paella and I went for the seafood mixed grill and neither of us was disappointed. We chose the French pastries for dessert and these were lovely too. All in all a very enjoyable evening and we are looking forward to returning to try the Sunday Buffet and crepes.

5 of us ate here last week and we were anticipating an interesting experience having heard a great deal about Waz at his previous venue. The service was attentive from the young server and the drinks were all reasonably priced. However, the food seemed very pricy for a Worcestershire market town. The ambience was zero with no music and the restaurant was not busy enough to generate its own atmosphere. We gave Waz’s a 7 out of 10 but will not be rushing back because of the reasons stated.

We have visited Waz’s a number of times and we are always welcomed with a warm and friendly atmosphere. We have been for a normal a la carte lunch and dinner and also tried the Sunday roast buffet. We loved the Mediterranean twist on a traditional Sunday roast - garlic in the mash, thyme/oregano on the veg, Mediterranean rubs on the meat, the vast array of salad and sauces (there’s something for everyone). Waz always greets us like a member of the family and makes us feel welcome and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful. A superb family venue as well as a special romantic night out with the lobster (my husband said it was amazing - I hava shellfish allergy and had the steak which was cooked to perfection and cut like warm butter). We are coming to try the pancakes out next! Can’t wait …..

We had a great meal and evening at this restaurant. The owner and staff were very welcoming and the atmosphere was fun with the French music. The seafood was delicious and beautifully presented. Think this is a great restaurant and Bromsgrove is lucky to have it. The owner is charismatic and ever present throughout the place. Definitely worth a visit.

Second visit to waz’s and the food, hospitality are top notch. i was never a seafood fan until i walked into waz’s clams, prawns, squid all cooked perfectly and tasted amazing, waz was very welcoming as always and the best bar and drinks selection in the area for sure. We were in a group of 6 and not one problem with service, quality or price, you pay for what you get and what you get is very high quality fresh food that tastes amazing. Cant wait to try the Sunday lunches !!!

Where to begin?. We were a party of 10 friends & at the request of the Bistro pre ordered our food yesterday on Friday. Our booking was for 8pm. We arrived on time and we’re shown to our table by a very polite young man. I’d say he was an asset to Waz’s. We explained we’d pre booked the food so we ordered our drink. Only 1 drink out of 10 was incorrect, it wouldn’t normally even warrant a mention but our visit got worse and worse. At about 8.35pm a complimentary bottle of presecco arrived at our table. Very nice we thought. However at 8.55 one of our party asked where our starters were. Just coming was the response. Nothing. My husband told them he would wait a further 10 minutes and if they hadn’t arrived he was leaving. He then went to the toilet and repeated himself to one of the men dressed in white. They arrived at 9.05pm. The calamari and prawns, although very nice were pricy and IMO not worth the money. 2 of our party had scallops, 1 returned to the kitchen as they were cold. No apology from the chef, just he’s make her a fresh dish. At that point we all decided to leave and go to Flavours. All of our party went to pay for the drinks and starters that we’d consumed but payment was kindly refused. The chef did come to apologise for the delay but as a member of our party was exposing why we were not very happy, explaining we’d had to pre order etc. he was accused of being aggressive. He was not. This evening has not only lost them around £450.00 plus because we didn’t end up eating there, it’s also cost them money as they refused our offer of payment. There are no excuses, the restaurant wasn’t busy and we had pre ordered. Sadly we will not be returning.
