Tudor Rose Fish Bar in Bromsgrove

Brilliant local chip shop. People are friendly and they cook the majority of items fresh. Their fish and kebabs are well cooked and the salads are fresh and crisp. I've used this chip shop for more than 60 years as I was literally born in Alvechurch. It has changed owners a few times but each time the new owners make every effort to keep quality high. I've never had anything below excellent from them.

Everything about this shop is just perfect, there was a brown haired woman working at the till who was asking me about my day, at the time I had a bad day so that made me feel better, but the food has good prices the food is brilliant and just the whole atmosphere in there is just brilliant.

With this being the only chip shop in Alvechurch, I would expect the potatoes to be of a better quality. Do find that there are a lot of bad chips in the portions given & the food is barely warm. It's rather pricey, too. :-( i now go to lickey hills chip shop which is cheaper and better quality chips.

This is a good fish and chip shop, but we would love to see a couple more vegetarian options - such as battered halloumi or cheesy chips! We tend to go further afield to another chippy that has a wider range of vegetarian options, for this reason.

Fish and Chips always fresh and hot

Had a fair few meals from here now and the food has always been fantastic with excellent customer service. I recommend the haddock! Freshly fried, crispy batter and chips are good too. Service is pretty quick and prices not above average.

Always wanted to try Tudor rose fish bar, always looks busy when we go past. Service was excellent and very quick, portion sizes were very good for the price. Only 3 stars as the chips weren’t amazing, were cooked but could have been done more,

1st time here after going all round the houses to get there due to road closure. Well worth it. Lovely fish & chips at a good price. We will certainly be back.

£4.20 for a few cooked potatoes,,,,shocking .... Girl on counter was ok. .But the three goons who stand behind the counter staring at you isnt a good look. ..not a smile ,an hello ,or a thank you ..wont be going again ...

Food is excellent good chicken kebabs and proper cod, not coalie or hake substitutes. Chips are always good. It's well worth waiting for. I'm Alvechurch born and bred and the Tudor Rose has always been good. Ownership changes often start a bit wobbly until the new owners work out what the majority like. I'm quite picky with food but these guys have the job sorted.

£6.40 for a battered sausage and small chips. We’ve been going here for a few years but won’t be any more, they’ve put prices themselves.

Cashier was lovely got a donner meat in a bun with garlic mayo gotta say it was a top kebab one of the best ive had in a while whilst the chips was lovely n fat

I visited last Saturday night for the first time and i must say i am pleasantly surprised. The prices were good, the food was amazing and the customer service was fabulous. The young brunette girl who served me had a big smile the whole time i was in there and was just overall really nice. Will be visiting again!

I don’t know how to really rate this place. The food is spot on but the only thing that I don’t understand is, apart from the female staff that are bubbly and smiling, why are the male staff here looking like they are suffering from forced Labour and look at you like they’ve never met humans ? Honestly, if you think I’m joking.. go here and you won’t know wether to laugh or feel like you’ve done something wrong by going inside. If it wasn’t for the girls working in there I would have left. Them guys need to communicate and say something or go to a place where they will be taught how to speak. The boss of this place is probably thinking, I’ll just put two girls on the counter who will keep my pockets full of money whilst the guys will work on £5 per hour or something.

I popped in here today for some chips and a fish cake and they were lovely! No waiting, good prices and the food was hot and refreshing. I'll be back for more :-D

Best fish I have had in a long time first ever visit and would definitely return regardless the distance from Quinton fish fell apart on contact and melted in my mouth and chips where so soft inside they were perfect would recommend to ANYONE... Thank you for the friendly welcome . If I may make a suggestion of a bit more wrapping than just 1 piece of paper to help absorb the oil 😗

i had a savaloy and a battered sausage with curry sauce and chips the chips were golden the savaloy was was perfect and the battered sausage was hot it was beautiful best chip shop ever

Been some years since we were at the Tudor Rose Fish Bar. Its cash only but has an ATM just over the road. Went down today in a motorhome, ordered 2 fish and chips. Staff were really cheerful and polite. Huge piece of fish (it overhung both sides of the plate) chips were nice too. Sat eating with a nice cold beer. Perfect. Could not eat it all. Nice little chip shop, food has been fresh but chips can often be lacking colour and therefore flavour - I can't be the only one who would rather wait an extra five minutes for a well browned chip. The fish is lovely and fresh but sadly, there's very little choice for vegetarians. Especially given the range of veggie and vegan Pukka pies that are available and the joy of a battered veggie sausage which would be so easy to add to a menu. Would recommend if you enjoy traditional chip shop food and don't have any dietary requirements

For a tiny little fish and chip shop it has a pretty good range, serving most of the normal stuff like fish, chips, kebab, pies, etc, etc, all piping hot and tasty, be prepared to queue up outside though, as there's not much room inside especially with the current covid situation

We are new to the area and visited Tudor Rose on Tuesday. We had Fish and Chips along with potato fritters. The Fish was incredibly crispy and the potato fritters were delightful ! ! I highly recommend this fish & chippy, we shall be returning very soon. Thank you Ian & Julie

Great.. But why only cash? You must lose quite a lot of passing trade. Even Ive changed my mind on a few occasions, because I dont always carry cash.

Very small and sometimes the long queues outside in the rain is not nice. I found it very pricey and not the best I have had to be honest, but I would use it again, hopefully it was just a bad night.

A busy little chippie, we had to queue around the corner today. The fish was excellent, large and good value, the chips were passable, pricing is OK. Good turnover of food and came out hot (really hot, was still hot when we got home). Would visit again if we are in the area. Menu included traditional chip shop fodder including pies but also kebabs and burgers.

Regularly travel from worcester to get chips from here always nice, nicer than any in Worcester

My fish was amazing which had to be cooked fresh due to no mini fish on show, my partners standard cod was a little dry in places but still nice. Worth waiting for a fresh cod to be cooked.

Gosh this chip shop is a blast from the past, I remember going there probably 50years ago when I was passing through, a lovely couple ran it then but cant remember their names, wish I could chips were beautiful, little did I know all them years ago I would be living not to far away from there, I will definitely be going there to try the chips soon 👍

Good chips, huge fish but the mushy peas were inedible - no flavour and completely watery. Quite pricey but overall good

My second meal of Cod and Chips from Tudor Rose Fish Bar in the last month which will be my last as it is the second time I have found bones in my fish which put me off finishing my meal, also do not believe it was Cod,. The portion of chips was just above a cone portion, so not value for money, will revert to going to Wythall Fish bar (5 mile away) as they're quality of meals are way above the Tudor Rose Fish Bar. So if you do not mind bones in your fish and it not being Cod and under sized portion of chips then you may enjoy your meal if you do then steer clear. UPDATE, I was brought in a Doner Kebab from this fish shop only to find it had NO Salad??? Called them and was no way happy with the response so add bad customer service to why I would not recommend buying from this Fish Shop.

Unless you want food poisoning,don't have the chicken kebab. Tasted fine but turns out it wasn't and my husband now has food poisoning. Thanks Tudor Rose!

New owners are cooking on gas now. The quality of the food is a step change and both quality and speed. I have noticed the queues are out of the door , something that hasn't been seen for years. Well done

Since being taken over and refurbished, the standards of cleanliness and food quality have gone up hugely. Pleasant staff.

Nice local chip shop been using for years had a few new managers over the years present ones do a good job chips exellent as well as the rest of the menu .

Had not been to well so i craved stodge, off to Alvechurch chippy, I knew new people had taken over, my wife had been while i was away on business. The fish looked OK if not a little anemic but i wanted fish n chips, i should have known as it was put on the chips "Mr Floppy" it broke in half. The batter was anemic, the fish dried out inside?? the chips all the leftover bits. I thought it was me so my wife and kids tried some, all the same conclusion - Rank, had it been a leftover from lunch?? Give it a miss.

I had a bag of chips from here at lunch time. I have to say they were cooked exactly how I like them with a slight crisp to them and not soggy, they were also piping hot and went well with lashings of vinegar. I'll definitely go back again and try the fish. They also do two types of kebab chicken and donner. There's parking available opposite.

Go to the newly-opened Asian fish & chip in the village at 10pm tonight to find they've sold out of fish...FFS...get a fec*i g grip...wd you go to an Indian to find they'd run out of curry or to a Chinese to go do they'd riun out of noodles or to an Italian to find they run out of pasta. Idiots. Get it right or b*gger off..it's not like they've an extensive menu to get right.

We spent almost £25 on fish and chips here. The portion of fish was good but the chips were stale and the batter on the fish was soggy. I then asked for some plastic forks and the man said "you need to buy food to be given the cutlery". He is so rude. We just spent all that money and he was rude making out I was just some guttersnipe who'd walked in off the street and asked for cutlery. Are you kidding me? It's been 15 years since I've been here, and it will be another 15 until I come again. So rude. Unbelievable. Service with a smile goes a long way.

Can be busy but worth waiting on. The cod is delicious and the chips are crisp, well cooked and not greasy. A great asset in a village

Fish & chips - how can you muck that up? This is my local chippy and very convenient but when I bought a takeaway last time & opened it up at home the batter on my cod was uncooked. I scraped it off but my wife wouldn't eat it - a bit of a waste of money really.

Last minute decision to have fish n chips as we drove past theTudor Rose & thought, why not! The fish was quite big & delicious & the chips not bad either although personally would've preferred them to be crispy.

Pedí patatas, carne de pollo y carne. donna Que salió a más de 10 libras. Cuando pregunté si el donna fue agregado me dijeron sí, sorpresa no fue así. La carne de pollo, recalentados, seco. Las patatas fritas también estaban secos. Tiró todo a la basura. Debe tener daños cerebrales para comer aquí dos veces.

Massive piece of fish, freshly cooked in lovely crispy batter. Lots of chips. Non greasy. Good service. Fab!

Love the fish and chips however sometimes it is a bit too oily but non the less it's always fresh!!!

Aquí para algunos llamaron en llevar pescado y patatas fritas. El pescado estaba muy grandes o que podría haber una pequeña por £2, 50. Esto era perfectamente adecuado. Estaba recién preparado y el bateador estaba bien hecho, con grandes escamas de pescado blanco. Las patatas fritas también estaban bien y el servicio muy amable y servicial.

The new management has clearly improved standards. The last couple of fish & chip meals I've brought from here have been really good.

While In Alvechurch we visited a couple of times. Lovely food, chips cooked perfectly. So was the fish. Portion size not huge but enough and well cooked.
