We have eaten here quite a bit over the last few years, and as it was some time since we last went, we decided to give it a go. Saturday night, the 5 of us. First off, the small bar has 2 lagers on draft, both flat as a pancake, and with a strange ‘off’ smell to the beer. It took 2 of the guys who work there to let us know what they had by the bottle, as we all felt that would be safer. After about 15 minutes, we went to our table, where the poppadom’s were already waiting for us. They were stone cold and rock hard. The meals arrived and it was truly abysmal. The chicken in the curries was in small chunks – like the stuff you might get in dog food. The prawns in the biryani were zapped to death – imagine a prawn half the size of a maggot and as hard as rubber. Inedible and a disgrace to set before any customer. There were 2 guys on duty. One of them had filthy clothes, a ‘white’ shirt (who knows when it last saw a wash) which was flapping out of his trousers. You must laugh as it was so bad. None of us will ever come back to this place, and I recommend that you give it as wide a berth as possible.

Ordered online via the website, website stated ready in 10 minutes so went to collect the order, wasn't ready when we got in to which I understand the fact that it was Saturday night so would of took longer ( which I was shocked by the 10 minute notification via the website) the chips were stone cold and had to warm them back up, the curries were all leaked through the lids and you couldn't make out what was what ? Then we realised we had been given a tikka starter instead of a tikka main, I called up on the night to explain and the person I spoke with well let's just say he rubbed me up the wrong way. I wanted to be reimbursed for the mistake they had made and was told he couldn't do a refund because he presumed that I wanted everything refunded ( a £75 order that we ate most of it I would never dream of asking for the full ammount back when I have ate the product.) But instead of listening to the customer he was very defensive and argumentative I then waited 5 days and no communication from the manager like he said. I called back this evening and was approached with the same attitude to which he had now changed his attitude about sorting the refund out for the mistake they had made. But this was after he told me I wouldn't get my money back because i paid through and app. Which is not my fault but I am being penalized for thier mistake. After the person on the phone safe to say winding me up and having a full blown argument on the phone regarding this situation I said that I wanted the manager to call me back tomorrow then putting the phone down. Customer service is shocking I will never go there again

Absolutely disgraceful. Was embarrassing. You could forgive the poorly dressed staff ( I’m bring polite) if the food wasn’t so poor but it really was the most utterly disgusting food ever. The onion baji looked like some one had sat on it and you could snap it in half it was that overcooked. Evening else was just as vile. We left. I don’t know how business have the audacity to expect people to pay for something so awful. We paid for what we tried ( I can’t say ate) but never ever again. The owners should be ashamed.

It was my birthday and we arrived as a party of 6 for 8pm. We ordered mains around 8.30 as they were a long time coming to take our order for drinks etc. We had some poppadoms while we waited and then sat back and waited for our mains.. We waited, and we waited and we waited and then had to go and ask where they were and was told another 5 mins. This was at 9.15pm..! At 9.40pm the meals finally arrived.. Totally unacceptable and we were toying with the idea of leaving by this time. 3 meals were passable, my meal was cold and had to go back for reheating and when it was returned after a good 15 mins it was hotter, but not very nice. The chicken was chewy and there wasn't much of it.. Two other meals were mediocre to say the least and there was hardly any food. We had ordered garlic naans of which only two arrived with the meals. One arrived not tasting of garlic at all and was dry and the strangest naan that ever was..I've seen better in supermarkets. My naan never turned up at all..! We gave up and left immediately we had finished our food, some of which was eaten only because we were hungry. We finally left this place, that we will never return to at 10pm.. Never have I seen such bad service in a restaurant and I've been to a few. My birthday treat was ruined. Thank goodness they accepted that we would only pay half the bill. No way were we going to pay full price for that. Apparently, they were having trouble with their naan bread oven, but at no time did they come and explain the problems they were having and never asked whether we were enjoying the food. I think they probably realised that we weren't, or were uninterested. Unbelievable...

Haven’t been to this curry house for a few years so thought we’d venture out post lockdown and support the local business. There was a table of 6 upstairs plus us (2) and another table of 2, we waited over 40 minutes for our meal - we only ordered mains. My Vegetable dansak tasted nothing like any dansak I had ever tasted. It wasn’t unpleasant and I was starving after such a long wait on a very quiet Tuesday so I ate it but It just didn’t taste like I would have expected. Husband ordered Murgh Anarkala, found 2 prawns in it - Not sure If they forgot to make his “cheese naan” but it appeared to be a plain naan with a “burger cheese” after thought?! His meal was salty lacked flavour and we’ve both left feeling a little queasy. We asked for the bill and the waiter explained that because they were enrolled in the “eat out help out” scheme his boss thought people would be less likely to leave a tip and therefore had added an automatic 10% service charge!!! Surely they would be more likely to leave a tip?! I declined the service charge, told them the food was barely average at best paid and left. The waiter couldn’t be faulted and stated he could changed food etc (I wasn’t prepared to wait any longer) He removed the service charge and then offered to make amends next time we visit -I advised that we wouldn’t be visiting ever again, there was no way we were paying any service charge and the naan bread was appalling!!!

Just returned from a most unimpressed experience. Met by someone who knew NOTHING about the food or drinks menu. Waiter arrived some 15 minutes later, he was pleasant and knowledgable. Poppadoms were good with great sauces. Starters were poor. I had the lamb chops. They were cremated with such a small amount of meat it really wasn’t worth eating. My wife had a Chicken Tikka which was ok, but cold. The mains arrived and were totally lacking presentation. My wife had a lamb shank curried dish which was very tough and full of fat. I had a Chefs Recommended Murgh Anarkala which was VERY AVERAGE. I asked if the King Prawns were peeled, I was told they were. Shame there weren’t ANY prawns at all. I know times are hard but there was ABSOLUTELY NO EFFORT AT ALL. There was some background music, for 2 minutes until it stopped. Then all we could hear was chefs shouting about their take away orders. When asking for the bill, instead of ‘certainly’ the guy just shouted in their language (sorry no idea what language) at someone out of sight and walked away. At no point were we asked if the meal was enjoyable, even though my wife’s meal was hardly touched. We were the ONLY people in the entire restaurant so absolutely no excuse for such poor service. We arrived at 6.45 for a 7.00pm booking and left at 8.00pm. No one else came during our meal. Such a shame, first meal out after lockdown and without doubt the worst experience in many years.

I rang Jaipur in Clent to arrange a takeaway. I asked for the Monday to Thursday deal / offer on their menu. The response was as follows, “you’ve got to be joking mate, you don’t expect us to give the usual deals in the current circumstances do you”. The cost of the meal should have been £23.90 but we were told it would now be £37. A discussing attitude for a restaurant that prides itself on a community feel. Very disappointed that they need to profit from a very desperate situation this countries in. Last time I’ll use them.

After reading the mixed reviews, we weren't sure what to expect. The restaurant is in a gorgeous, historic building (surprisingly joined to residential, as it looks like it used to be one premises). Oak beams, small rooms and loads of character. The popadums to start came with some lovely sides (but the pickle nearly blew my head off). We then had peri peri chicken starters, which was really tasty. I had a chicken tikka balti and the other half had bombay chicken. The portions were large and both meals were full of flavour. The naan bread was the best I've ever had, fluffy and light, non greasy and utterly delicious. The waiters were really lovely, chatting with us at the bar and checking the meals were okay. The only downside was the lack of parking (we have a large estate car and didn't want to upset the neighbours by parking outside their houses, as the roads are very narrow). As we get to know the area better I'm sure this won't be a problem. Lovely food, lovely service and a great price. We will definitely be back.

We have visited Jaipur several times over the last two months as we have just moved into the area.As with most Indian restaurants you can customise your meal to your own tastes, both my Partner and I have a particular favourite dish ( mine is Lamb Tikka Balti Madras with Fresh Chilli ) they get it perfect every time , we’ve taken a group of friends with us and we were made to feel very special, and service was perfect. I accept the wait is quite a while, but when the food is prepared fresh and not what is on the menu it’s an acceptable wait. We’ve not had a poor meal or anticipate having a poor meal at Jaipur, the staff are smart and tidy, the atmosphere is well above what you’d expect from a country Indian restaurant and we will return again and again !.

Service very slow and unfriendly. Food was uninspiring for me. Bland, meat over cooked, and what I can only believe was squirty cheese inside nan bread. Certainly nothing I’ve had before. What was the worst though, is if someone is so drunk that they are ruining everyone elses evening with the constant shouting, screeching and arguing about their drinks when do you stop serving them large vodkas? I only know that was what they were drinking as I could hear from the other side of the restaurant. Surely you have a responsibility to other diners and also to stop serving someone clearly so drunk.

We passed this Bangladeshi Restaurant on a recent trip to Clent and thought we would go back and try the food. I have to agree with other reviewers regarding the staff. Some of the staff were standing at the bar and looked miserable. Service was good but they looked as if they did not want to be there. This is a family owned restaurant and if this reflects the owners version of customer experience, I'm sorry, but you have lost it. We were shown to our table and was full of expectation. The Seekh Kebabs came sizzling as I like them served and they were delicious. No sooner had I put my fork down the plate was whisked away. We ordered another drink. The main arrived and the garlic naan was thin, deflated and flat. The chicken madras and the Jalfrezi tasted exactly the same with the over riding taste of what seemed to be cloves. The rice was that tiny rice with spots of colour that supposed to be vegetables as we ordered vegetable pilau rice. It looked like that industrial processed stuff given to customers for cheapness. Although we ate the food, it is not our type of Bangladeshi food and in comparison to other Bangladeshi restaurants we have visited in Birmingham is not one we will visit again. Shame really as the setting and intimate room we were in is spoilt by the food and as others have commented on, the miserable staff. This represents our visit and reflects the experience we had on the night.

We always go for a curry most weeks and have a good selection of curry restaurants living in Stourbridge . However we fancied a change and decided to come hear after nearly 20 years since my last visit .

We visit the Jaipur most weeks. The food is always delicious and piping hot. Full of spices and depth of flavour. My favourite is Chicken Jalfrezi and boiled rice which is also the least fattening curry according to Slimming World. The family always give us a warm welcome and take an interest in our families which is lovely. Many of the diners have been going every week for twenty years. One of our friends went most days for a long time before he went to live abroad. In fact he travels all over the world with his job but still says the Jaipur offers one of the best curries. The only negative is that the decor is rather dated. And the hand drier in the ladies room could be more efficient. Other than that I can highly recommend the fabulous food.

I’ve had well over 100 takeaways from the JC and would rate it as one of the most consistent curry houses I've eaten from in 30 years over the whole of England. Normally you find some variation in quality, taste or heat levels but I can only recall one occasion when it wasn’t as expected, which is seriously impressive. Very friendly bunch who go the extra mile to look after you. I love the place.

Went as a couple on Saturday evening to see if the food lived up to the reviews about its quality and taste - my husband and I love authentic Indian food and are so often disappointed by what is served up. I had the Tandoori King Prawn Bhuna - delicious. My husband had the Staff Curry which he enjoyed. The side dishes were good too. The service was friendly and the interior cosy with old world charm. We live too far away to become regulars but I'm certainly recommending this place to friends and family who live locally.

I first visited this restaurant a few years ago and, to be perfectly honest, I wasn’t at all impressed and I certainly wasn’t going back. A couple of months ago a good friend said he’d heard good things and wanted to try it. I wasn’t looking forward to it but went along anyway. Well to say I was shocked was an understatement. The improvement was impressive. I’ve been twice since and it gets better every time. Jaipur is now my 2nd favourite Indian restaurant. A leopard most certainly can change its spots. Well done to everyone at Jaipur. I would & do strongly recommend.

Always enjoy the food here and prefer to visit and eat in. Our American relatives said it was the best indian meal they had while in UK, so much so they went twice, once with us and then with other old friends. Friendly staff and really excellent food. it's a pity that Covid meant that they had to focus on takeaways because it is clean, comfortable, you can take your own drinks and you are made to feel welcome inside. If you like indian food this will take some beating.

Used this restaurant for years and it used to be good. This visit was the worst I’ve had anywhere. Booking that was made 5 days before, couldn’t be found . It was not full but then when we eventually got a table and given menus we were then asked 6 times in 10 minutes for our order by one server and no reason for it as it was getting more empty. Starters were brought out and then immediately main courses followed which just made us feel rushed. The manager , who we have known from previous visits, was having an argument with one of the staff and telling them off in view of the customers which is poor and he should know better.and both he and the man at the till were really unfriendly and the serving staff , apart from a younger man , with a beard , were not happy and really moody all the time . The ladies amongst our party described the toilets as filthy and smelly. Would definitely not recommend using this Restaurant! Very poor experience!

Having seen some good reports about this place, I thought it would be worth a 45 minutes drive to give it a try. I felt rather fortunate that we got a table at short notice on a Saturday night, that said it wasn't close to full during the time we were here. It's a rather impressive dining room, they have done a very good job and obviously spent a lot of money on it. Naturally this has to be recovered and is reflected in the prices. The plain frontage gives no indication of what lies behind. Unusually for a Bangladeshi restaurant you could be forgiven for thinking that it is a micro pub, given the prominence of the bar in the window. We had a table for two in a corner which oddly was in a cold draught, when I mentioned this to our waiter who had poor English, he advised, "yes we have Cobra". The service was pleasant, a little slow and not overly attentive given the number of staff. Poppadoms and dips were very good our shared onion bhaji wasn't the best though. I appreciate that these are precooked and reheated on the night but these were quite 'tough', and the portion was a bit meagre. They made an effort with the salad but there wasn't a lot of that either. There was quite a long wait between our starters and mains. The main courses were OK, the wife enjoyed her balti but my roasted red chilli chicken korai was a bit thin in taste even though it looked great. The sides were OK but we had to opt for boiled rice instead of pilau as I am not a fan of the tri colour version. Overall it was not a bad night but I was expecting to be impressed, especially at their prices but unfortunately it didn't happen. Another night, with a different dishes and I guess it would be a different story.
