Chips usually undercooked. Portions are terrible for the price. Staff ignore you and serve their friends before you. Instead of asking have you ordered to your mates why not try asking who's next to everyone in the shop. A Queue isn't that difficult to work out. Won't be going back.

My first Shetland chippie experience. I was sweaty after arriving by ferry that morning and doing a day of active sightseeing and wanted a chippy. I happened to be passing and thought I'd try it. The young lad serving seemed very efficient and happy to talk through what was ready straightaway. Went for white pudding and chips. Stayed in to eat and pretty good - no extra cost for doing so. Not particularly well ventilated when the door is closed but no issue if you were sweaty, not that bothered or taking away. At 5pm I felt it should be a lot busier than it is though not sure why it wasn't.

I have noticed a few 'cool' reviews about Chivers fish and chips. My wife and I had take out f&c again last Friday. As on previous occasions it didn't disappoint. The fish was cooked perfectly and the batter just right. Coupled with the friendly service and reasonable prices, we will be using Chivers again.

So we made a reservation on line . We get here an hour early to have cocktails , yes we checked in , we sat for the hour and enjoyed our cocktail . We saw numerous people getting seated who asked if tables were available ( so no reservations) and no one checked on us to get us to our table , it wasn’t until I asked if we were going to get seated that they finally seated us and then took forever to get our order .

We had a fantastic dinner in this warm welcoming pub in Fairlight, Hastings. The decor, finely curated reclaimed tables, chairs, wall hangings etc was tastefully and comfortably done. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was beautifully prepared and presented: I had venison meatballs in a tomato sauce with focaccia, while my beautiful pagan wife had sea bass on a bed of spring greens. A side order of triple cooked, slimline chips gave us a bit of carbo -crunch to compliment the protein intake. This was followed by equally tasty deserts; Tart Tartin (the best ever ever had), and sticky toffee pudding, which was light as well as delicious. There was an extensive wine list, but not being a oenophile I plumped for a bottle of Rathaus Radler, a German version of shandy which knocks the spots off the British version. On top of this the place is extremely dog-friendly, so we some nice canine interaction whilst munching. And the bill for all we had, plus olive starter came to a very reasonable £68 (including well deserved service charge of 12%). Highly recommended.
