We'd always meant to go to Riley's Fish Shack having had an amazing meal in their early days during the Eat Festival about a decade ago when they operated as a pop-up and travelled round on a glorified bike. So finally, we got to go whilst on a day out in Tynemouth. Didn't book ahead, just turned up on spec. It was a Wednesday lunch time when we thought it would be quieter but it was a red hot day and even at 12 noon there was a queue of about half a dozen people, so it took about 15 minutes to place an order but the person at the till was charming, all smiles and apologies. The chefs were working very hard and had about eight or nine order tickets lined up. They said it could be more than 30 minutes but we were happy enough to sit on their deckchairs on the beach to wait, but in the event the food came after less than 15 minutes, brought out to us where we sat. Not massive portions but plenty there and the empanadas we had were packed full of fish, really nicely spiced and accompanied by fresh caper salad. Maybe slightly over-priced but I've had sandwiches with crisps and a pathetic little salad (neither of which I wanted) costing the same and this was several divisions better - plus you get the wonderful experience of eating on the beach. We both really enjoyed our food. Would I go back - absolutely!

This is a lovely modernised Victorian hotel set in a unique building in a unique position in old town Harwich. Run by Milsom’s of Talbooth restaurant fame the food is superb. The ground floor cafe is dog friendly, the first floor brasserie offers views across one of the busiest stretches of water in the UK. Harwich should be one of the tourist gems of North Essex it has so much history and the smaller back streets are worth a wander around. Although you do have to use your imagination to picture the past. If only the planners could see there way to demolishing most of the residential developments from the last seventy five years, restoring more of the older properties and providing more parking for visitors, one could see the return of the smaller shops and the whole old town could be a real delight. All it requires is someone with vision controlling the old town.

Arguably the best chippy in leicester and very rare to find one this good. that's my honest opinion and review....this is via delivery too, to put things into perspective. Consistently very good food.....and a new edit I'll apply pictures accordingly..one word discusting I will not be ordering again honest reveiw and opinion.

I’ve actually been to this chip shop and ordered a kebab in the past and it was decent, but the kebab and chips that came as a delivery was diabolical. The kebab meat and pitta bread was dry and stale. It was chewing on dry leather. Had to throw most of it away. Real shame to be honest.

Great chippy, my Mrs just said that it's the best chippy chips she has ever had, high praise indeed, so glad we live local so we can call in regularly

My 12 year old son brought a regular Chips for £3.50 yesterday Friday the 9th of may. Only to find a small black hair amongst the pricey chips. Not only that at least half the chips had black in them.

Blue ocean is always my go to - however tonight we have ordered a takeaway and was really dissapointed. It was tasteless. The madras wasnt spicy and they sent chicken tikka instead of normal chicken. The rogan josh lacked taste and spices. The mixed grill was very dry. Really dissapointed as im a regular to blue ocean.

Called through asked me to hold for a minute, (no problem at all) 7 minutes later, I hang up and call again and my order is taken instantly. First downer Tell me to come in at 20 to 8, there slightly early, which I am happy to wait for until collection time. I go back for collection time and I get asked to wait a couple of minutes. Couple of minutes turned into 20 minutes for curry sauce apparently. All in all, I wouldnt mind so much but this has consistently been the case visiting Robs Fish Bar recently. There were two people out the back sat having a chat and fag whilst they could have been helping on the front. The food itself was, well, average at best. Not a good experience all in all and will certainly be using a different place next time!

Been going on and off for 5 years as I work nearby, went in yesterday for a small fish, chips and peas and it was one of the best fish I've had, great and fast service, and a good price. Whoever was on the fryer, thanks, was spot on.

We visited The Ring o Bells on the 28th May 2025 .l can honestly say the meal was excellent one of the best we have had there. The service was good very friendly and polite staff. We would highly recommend it.
