Arguably the best chippy in leicester and very rare to find one this good. that's my honest opinion and review....this is via delivery too, to put things into perspective. Consistently very good food.....and a new edit I'll apply pictures accordingly..one word discusting I will not be ordering again honest reveiw and opinion.

Would be better if the cafe section was open as love a fish and chip lunch but fish, cod, was huge

So glad I was only stupid enough to have a portion of chips, struggled to find a chip over a inch long. scratchings / scraps are now mandatory meaning almost a third of the portion was inedible due to loads of spud ends to accompany the scratchings don't even get me started on the measly portion size. Clearly under new management well good luck because your going to need it, RIP Grimsby Fisheries

Great for dining in and you don't like soggy fish and chips. Great fish, without the smells. Chips have a lovely slight crispness!

A chip cob and sausage only , for £5:10 price against quantity was average and quality was below average tasted like the chips was reheated very greasy not many either only decent items the buttered cob and sausage I know there price rises everywhere but sure quality must be kept has grinsby fisheries had always been the best around not right now it seems could be a off day

I was disappointed on this occasion. I have had delicious fish here in the past. However, on this occasion (Saturday lunch), the cod was overcooked batter dark and hard, fish was dry, and nothing like the usual standard.

Nice staff and very nice food. No complaints. Sometimes if you have a large order then something is forgotten, but if you remind them it's okay. Very busy on a Friday evening. You can eat inside in a separate area but most people do takeaway. The mini fish and chips is a very big portion and not that different in size to the bigger one.

Still the best fish and chips in Leicestershire! My parents used to drive me here from Countesthorpe for chippy dinner in the 70s

The food was excellent; however, the service left much to be desired. One of the servers, a short lady, did not treat me with respect and behaved in an unprofessional manner. Instead of providing good hospitality, she was swearing in her language—possibly Indian—while conversing with her colleague. This experience was disappointing, and the overall hospitality at the establishment needs significant improvement.

Best chippy in the east midlands. Ive just had fish and chips from there today 22.02.25 my God was it was so nice I could eat another portion. Ive been going to Grimsby for near on 45 years and there is no chippy that can compare to them. Thanks guys and girls for the wonderful food.

Beware, if you’re ordering off the gluten free menu DO NOT order the chip cob listed as “gluten free”. The cob isn’t gluten free!! The server let us order a chip cob on the gluten free side after we explicitly said the order was for gluten free fish and chips. Then they asked to package it separately because it contains gluten (??). Then got confused when my coeliac partner was confused why it had gluten in.

Fantastic fish and chips. Fresh, good quality ingredients and good portion size. Highly recommended. All their sauces are suitable for vegetarians and they also do gluten free fish after 5pm.

The standards have dropped here, get fewer chips and the price has increased. £12.20 for a large fish and chips, portion size for a large is equivalent to a small at another chippy. Used to be a regular here but now only go for convenience.

I just love their fish and chips, and my husband the battered sausage. The best this is that they are just in my way home from work. I can’t fault them for anything, really.

I do a round trip of 12 miles to come here. They are very good, good size portions, enough for 2, good price too, nearly £11 not bad for 2, only draw back is parking but then that's the problem with all the best one's with being busy.

Established reliable chippy, probably the best in leicester, halloumi was also surprisingly nice along with the usual fish and chips!

Fish batter is like concrete and completely bland, no salt even. Atlantis fish bar on uppingham road is much better.

The headline says it all really. We really enjoyed it here, just a shame we were only visiting Leicester for the day . The small portion was ample for both of us, very tasty white fish and cooked to perfection.

The worst place i have ever been The food was not fresh at all and not tasty at all For one pice of chicken and two portions of fries and two drinks they charge us £16 I don't mind about the money but the food was not good at all and even you have to pay separately for the sauce I wouldn't go there again even if its free

3 April 7 pm: They must have picked up "'e's not from 'round 'ere" as the chips were stale and the fish overcooked and the batter very oily. £21.60 for 2 large cod with large chips. As I do live nearby, I will get a takeaway in Queens Road next time.

Recently visited Leicester again after having lived there many many years ago. This was always my go to place for fish and chips and glad to say it hasn’t depreciated over the years at all! Still amazing portions! Amazingly clean eating area. Can’t recommend enough :)

Still good, but not as good as it was pre-Covid. Sadly, it appears that dining in with real cutlery and crockery is now a thing of the past.

The fish was fried great the chips where nice and crispy but not to hard and the pineapple fritters were nice and juicy

Very good Fish & chip , I was a guest in their town from up north , and I am a bit of a foody , googled them and went there , ordered Cod with chips and Mushy peas ×3 , and fish was lovely , portion was decent size and price was very reasonable . What else could you wish for ?

Just been totally ripped off by this place. It's the absolute last time I go there. £4.40 for a large bag of chips and got barely what looks like a regular size... If that. The woman serving just gave me the dregs of what was left rather than waiting for more chips to be cooked. Such a shame because the chips are really nice. But come on give out proper portions for the price you are charging!!

Restaurant changed format. You no longer sit and be served those wonderful fish & chips on a proper plate ! You queue at the counter then sit eating out the wrapper. I guess this is to cut costs but certainly a down grade in my view, a real shame as this is no longer the experience it was .

Really good cod and chips. The lady asked me if I wanted to wait for a fresh piece of cod to be cooked. I, of course, prefer to wait and get it fresh from the fryer. Really nice service and food.

It's good, but not sure it lives up to all of the hype. I'd say Gypsy Lane Chippery and Bucks definitely trumps Grimsby Fisheries but it's a very tight race. If this is your closest chippy, you can't go wrong. We're spoiled for great choice in all parts of the city, enjoy!

I took an Austrian work colleague here to the restaurant last night, fish and chips, bread and butter, mushy peas, curry sauce, and a cup of tea. Dinner of champions! It was all very nice.

In fairness may have been user eats fault .but fish was cold and stale and chips stone cold only thing hot was peas

Just had fish and chips from here and the fish just melted in our mouths! Absolutely delicious , crispy and fresh. Just a shame about the miserable girl serving the chips, otherwise fantastic

I heard so many good things about this place but sadly was dissapointed the cod batter was so thick, over cooked not fluffy at all extremely greasy. My partner came years ago so maybe the owners changed. But in my opinion I won't be going back.

How can u call it a restaurant? U have to queue up and order with those ordering food to take out. No different menu anymore. Such a shame u’ve let urselves down. Fish and chips are excellent but this is just a room to sit in and eat yr meal out of polystyrene boxes. U even have to pay for sauces!!! What a disappointment 🙁

We called to order and collect it at lunch time and they had everything ready for us when we got there. The staff was lovely, the food tasted great, the portion was huge even though we just got a mini fish and chips meal. Now it's my favorite! The old man behind counter was so nice to me too, he made my day <3
