Jimmy's Killer Prawns in Leicester

I tried a seafood boil for the first time, and it was amazing! The flavors were spot on—super tasty and spicy, with the garlic butter sauce being an absolute standout. The portion size was generous, and one platter was more than enough for me. I’m also excited to hear they’ve recently opened a branch in Birmingham. I’ll definitely be visiting again soon!

Pretty disappointed in this place. Service was pretty terrible, the waiter kept glancing at his watch when we were trying to choose an alternative when apparently bottled water was out of stock. Food was ok, nothing special. Definitely not worth the hype. Unfortunately the 3 of us who dined that evening all fell unwell with stomach cramps so I would definitely question the freshness/storage of the prawns.

Great seafood, no doubt. But worst possible chicken! Limited parking. Good staff and atmosphere. We will come back but will definitely not order anything other than fish here.

I do not recommend this place, the shrimps were overcooked, the tzatziki worst I've ever eaten in my life , the fish was very poor quality (Fish and chips), They should learn how to cook. There are much better restaurants nearby. 2stars for a chips only :)

Delicious and fresh fish. It's so nice to have something different in Birmingham. Amazing garlic bread and sauces to accompany. Full of flavour and the drinks are out of this world. Also there's a huge secure car park. This place is a MUST visit!

Just a real big let down. we stopped once before and thought maybe we were too good a cook or foodies or they'd had a bad day so after eating decided to try one more time ...we ordered the queen prawns in thier special spicy sauce imagine a light sweet and sour type flavour sauce and some flattish butterflied 3 or 4 prawns I can't remember a thin sauce with what I can only assume we're cubes of bread in it ..eh ? 🙄 and some cooked chillies and herbs (not for me ) then the loaded fries imagine frozen chips some peri peri seasoning (not much or you can pay 1.50 for extra ) and mayo...and few unseasoned pink prawns straight out the pack and a light sprinking of cheese ..and that is it...if that's your thing or you don't cook then you may enjoy it...however not for me a second time and I'm afraid I won't return....Google better than boiling crab recipe on you tube and do a seafood boil yourself at home and expect to be blown away...not a hint of cajun or how it's supposed to be done in sight .however to be fair the staff are lovely.

Good food and service but the baby change toilet space and changing table for baby looks deplorable ! Absolutely disgusting! Toilets and the heater from ladies toilets looks disgusting . Also the hygiene in the restaurant was poor . If you look on the walls as you enter and those tables close to the wall you will see grease everywhere

Great overall experience. Nice atmosphere and lovely customer service. For starters we got the loaded fries and dynamite prawns. The loaded fries were slightly disappointing. The mains were good. I'd generally stick to the prawn platter. Was nice to see a prayer hall and ablution facilities to carry out prayers/Salah.

Yummy! We’ve wanted to visit jimmy’s for a while & it most definitely delivers! Amazing food, huge portions & the staff are welcoming knowledgeable and friendly. Travelled from Birmingham on a recommendation and wasn't disappointed. Food ( prawns) had a wonderful taste and cooked to perfection. All the meals were quickly served with staff happy to help out. Car parks only 6 cars but parking on main street, pay n display. Dishes were min £25, jug of soft drink £10. Plenty of space inside, a little cold though. Other food options available if you don't fancy prawns too. Fish, burgers etc.

Ahmed was our server, loveliest server I have ever had, was VERY friendly and kept making sure we were fine and welcomed. Delicious food would recommend and come again. Service was one of the best if not the best part of the visit because of Ahmed.

I should have checked the prices before I went in. It was Way outside my budget for the week. But I got the cheapest thing on the menu, paella 🥘, which came with gloves because the shrimp were Huge and unpeeled. The mussels and shrimp were good. But the yellow rice was dry and there were bits of sand in everything. When I asked for water, they brought me a bottle of water, no glass.

I dream about these prawns. The fact that they don't have a restaurant in London causes me physical pain, but if any restaurant is worth travelling to another city for it's this one. Just writing this and thinking about them is making my mouth water...

The restaurant specializes in different seafood barbecues, but the most famous one must be the prawns. The portions are very sufficient and there is a special offer of 50 prawns every Tuesday and Thursday. The various sauces are also very delicious, whether for a family or a couple. Very suitable for everyone to enjoy

We went to Jimmy's prawns a couple of years ago and had a positive experience, therefore we went again this evening all the way from Nottingham. This time we chose the extra spicy prawn platter, as the waiter said that the spicy one isn't all that spicy. When the platter (with rice and chips) arrived we started on the chips and noticed that the ones at the bottom seemed really oily. The rice was inedible as it was swimming in oil. We pointed this out to the waiter and he apologised and gave us an additional portion of rice. He said that the extra spicy prawns are also extra oily. However the prawns were very greasy and we were abit doubtful about his explanation. It was only when we looked across at other people's empty platters that we noticed ours was the only one that had a pool of oil at the bottom. Again we pointed this out to the waiter and he said it was due to the extra spice (apparently the spice is mixed into oil which is poured into the prawns), he said we should order our sides separately If we want extra spicy prawns next time, but surely if that was the case, he should have advised us to do this when we placed the order? We had no idea that our food would come swimming in oil, otherwise we would have gone with the standard version. However at this point he conceded that there was more oil in our dish than there should have been. We finished our dinner 3 hours ago and we still feel abit sick due to the high level of oil we consumed. I don't think we will be eating at this place again due to our bad experience. The jug of strawberry lemonade was overly sweet and came with lots of ice despite our request for less ice. The meal cost £52.75 for two of us which didn't include starters or dessert. We are highly disappointed with this restaurant, the waiter continually fobbed us off, despite there clearly being a fault with our food. We were previously looking forward to the new branch opening soon in Nottingham but if the service is like what we experienced tonight, it won't go down very well.

The staff in the afternoon were so rude specially the female staff. Not replying properly not serving properly. I don’t think of going back at jimmys Leicester to feast. It just ruined my day.

Travelled with my two friends from Birmingham to try this well spoken about restaurant. We ordered the platter for 4 (although there were 3 of us) and killed it all. If you love your food and like to get hands on, this place is for you- they provide gloves and buckets to dispose the shells. Prawns tasted amazing. Will definitely come back; and thanks to Satirus and Ibrahima for the great hospitality too.

This is our 4th visit to jimmys killer prawns, This visit was for the eldest 21st birthday. Ahmed was our server and he was very attentive, very helpful. He was very happy in his job. He made our visit very pleasurable. We did mention the birthday boy and we were offered a free dessert. Unfortunately we had to decline as we already had a cake. All in all it was very pleasurable visit. Would definitely visit again.

We usually order the 50 prawns platter with chips, rice, and trio sauces. The prawns were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The tables are spaced out nicely, and it's a family-friendly place. The waitress that served us was very good. Parking is an issue. They have a very small parking next to the restaurant but it's always full. There are side street parking or paid parking nearby. Would definitely recommend it if you're a sea food lover.

Our family of five had a reservation , but we got stuck in traffic due to heavy rain, traveling from quite far. Despite being late, the staff were incredibly accommodating and made us feel so welcome. The service was impressively fast, and the variety of seafood was amazing there was something for everyone! After a long journey, their warm hospitality and delicious food made the evening absolutely worth it. We’ll definitely be back!

Not as good as Manchester. Flavours are milder. Service is quick but waiters are not nice. They couldn't wait for us to leave. And it wasn't that busy.
