The man at the counter was such a gentleman. The way he treated me made me want to leave a review. I had a small cod with chips. Even tho it says “small” i find the portion was more than enough to fill me up. Fish was fried fresh and was extremely crispy. Will definitely go back again.

The food was amazing and the quality, service, consistency, and cleanliness were excellent. I have been eating in the same restaurant for the last 2 decades and never had one unpleasant time. hats off to Serene. keep serving the good food.

They got my order wrong and refused to deliver the missing item. I used to be a regular at this store, but due to their unsatisfactory response, I will never shop here again. When I called back, I was told a manager would contact me by the end of the week. Until then, thanks for spoiling my dinner. You've just lost a loyal customer.

Excellent customer service, I’ve been coming here for years but the last year every Fridays small cod & chips. The best fish and chips I’ve ever had. When my sister comes down from Canada she also asked me to bring her here

Small dining place which is a hidden gem. Attentive and welcoming staffs. Lovely food. I am absolutely addicted to their deep fried anchovies. Ordered lamb chops and mixed lamb kebabs, all of which are tasty, succulent and tender. Portion is so generous that we couldn't quite finish what we ordered and had to take some home with us. Very good dining experience. Be there early to get a table because of limited number of tables available.

We visited Serene fish and chips almost every night that we were in London visiting from the states. The food was delicious and the staff were so kind. They gave us recommendations for things to do in London, and they were also very patient with us as we had many questions about all the different things they had on the menu. If we’re in London again they will definitely be one of our first stops!

Freshly prepared. No fuss fish & chips!

The food here is lovely. The fish is delicious. We sat in last night and ordered 3 regular cod and chips and 1 lamb doner meat and chips. The food arrived in good time and was very tasty. When we went to pay, we were charged for large fish and chips. When we questioned it, we were told that for eat in, it is large. If this is the case, why is there a regular option in the eat in menu. This left a sour taste as we have been visiting for years. I doubt very much I will be coming to eat again as I felt robbed after we clearly ordered a regular meal.

Ridiculously expensive for what you get, especially in comparison to other decent fish and chip shops in the area. Paid £9.80 for a 'medium donor' which was served in one of those small containers with some sauce and put into a bag with a separate salad. The chicken burger was very dry.

Spent £30 on a order and charged me 0.75p for card ‘Processing Fee’’ Daylight robbery!!!

Nice place but the price of the food is a bit over the top. Same food served in other establishment will cost almost half of what we paid. Updated: went to another place and it was cheaper but the food was horrendous 😂 I take it back and have given you more stars.

Serene Fish and Chips has been a favourite of mine throughout my entire time at secondary school at the age of 13 even until now at the age of 28. Consistently improving the quality of their food, an amazing update to their decor and their warm and welcoming customer service. I'd highly recommend Serene to absolutely everyone within the local area, a favourite of mine, my household and my family when they come to visit from outside of Gants Hill too.

Very poor with their portion sizes even with large. Lady serving has poor customer service skills. Once upon a time they wanted to charge 50p extra to sit and eat in. Oh BTW, please avoid paying for 5 Star 🌟 Google reviews. It's soo obvious 🙄

Hands down the best Fish &Chips and half pounders and kebabs in East London/Essex. When I hear local people haven't tried Serene's yet... I'm honestly asking them what they're waiting for! Regularly ordering for over 15 years!

This is a local institution that has been around for a long long time. It has also had a great reputation and been the go to place for fish and chips and lots more. So after a period of not having it we ordered for delivery hoping it still has the same high standards and it did not disappoint. We had a seafood mix which came with calamari, scampi, prawns and cod bites cooked to perfection plenty of flavour and perfectly flavoured. Then up next was the whitebait which again what can I say it was cooked perfectly alot of places you can tell the oil is old and it affects the taste but we had no problems here. Then the classic cod and chips and the chips are still up the the great standard they have always been and the cod was crisp and not to oily with great cod. On the side we had a home made tub of chilli which was brilliant and home made with plenty of flavour not just all spice. So yes after a long period it's still there and still of a great standard so order it and enjoy.

Serene is a fantastic place to enjoy a variety of food and drinks from whether you want to eat in or take out. From Day 1 of being a customer here the main thing that stood out above all is the friendliness and warmth of the staff. Almost like they are all family. The food, simply put - clean, fresh, hygienically made and catered to your needs and wants. The place itself is regularly updated, a traditional feel with a touch of modernness too. Staff is multilingual and easy to communicate with and never a bad experience here. Location wise it’s very centric and near stations, parking and residency. Easy to get to, easy to spot and well lit. Food wise there is a wide range of portion sizes and dishes and all are reasonably priced in today’s climate. I would seriously recommend anyone looking for a good take away, healthy but filling and delicious to look no further. You will not regret it :)

Best fish shop in East London. Such a great welcoming atmosphere. Food is always tasting fresh with lovely customer service. You’re able to eat in the newly refurbished shop. Or order via Uber eats. Either way you are experiencing top quality food.

Depends what you are ordering. Food is good and fresh In there staff one elderly lady is always very rude the other staff is good and friendly.

I've been a customer of Serenes for 10+ years. I'm disappointed recently with them. You've increased your price of your self-catering chicken skewers by £2 each (£5 to £7). Firstly, that's a big jump. Secondly, price increase aside - the portion of the the actual cubes of chicken on the skewers have halved - that's taking liberties. That's not how you retain customers. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and maybe it was just a luck of the draw on how the meat was cut on that one occasion re: reduction in portion size. However, if it continues you will lose a long-serving customer.

One of the best Turkish Doner and Fish places near Gants Hill. It is simply amazing and fresh food. The staff are very friendly and prepare some great meals. A bit expensive compared to other places but its worth the try.

I have been a customer at Serenes from last 8 years, cannot go wrong with the good food and service and atmosphere. Cannot recommend enough. Nothing will ever beat Serenes.

Very disappointed with the whole experience, I had a large order of 12 chicken doners. First of all they wanted extra money for providing pots of garlic and chilli but if you asked for this as part of the doner they make for you; then it’s free. Secondly I had asked them to make the doners up including all the sides within the pitta, they agreed and then when I went to pick up the order the salad, chicken, sauces (which now became free of charge !) and pitta were all packed separately, I had ordered for around 15-20 people and then had to go home and try and put all the doners together compromising on the taste vs having Serene’s making them. They don’t seem to be capable of handling larger orders and half the food went to waste as the taste was lost. Wouldn’t use them again and neither would the other people I had ordered for.

Hi I’m a regular customer for many years. My son ordered fish & chips plus large shish. This was about 6pm… I was waiting , at 6.40pm, I asked my son, as the food didn’t arrive, he apparently didn’t check, as he was not home , and ordered through the app. Apparently the order was cancelled, we no explanation. This was very unfortunate and unusual. Just wanted to ask if everything is okay at the shop. Maybe the owner can explain. Kind regards Raj

The food is excellent. And I have not found a better Cod and Chips anywhere else. If you haven't been already, make it your spot for your next takeaway! £14 for small cod & chips,chips must of been there for a few hours & the cod not much wider than two fish fingers & about six inches long……….fish was good chips 🤮good job another customer lost ⚒️

Amazing food and service. I ordered the Mixed doner wrap for £6.50 with some fresh fries in a small size [£2.50], and believe me it was something, for a quick, stopover meal for the car. The freshly made, warm wrap, along with the fatty, tender lamb meat all in 1 bite seemed to be the best wrap I ever had. The chips in a small size were not small. They were crispy and fat, with the perfect amount of salting Furthermore, the employee provided excellent service, being efficient with his orders, friendly and seeming happy to work and provide his service complimented the meal even more. The smaller details wrapped up the whole experience, with the fancy exterior and seating alongside the newspaper wrapping they use, which actually explained the restaurants story, seeming nice to have a quick look at, showing thought and care into this business. Overall, I highly recommend and you simply cant fault or go wrong about anything. Hopefully, they can expand and have potentially a couple tables more seating. .

It's rarely the case that a shop holds its high standards but Serene have never disappointed. Staff are very kind and provide excellent customer service. I contacted Serenes to cater for a small family event at my home for around 15 people. The service from beginning to end was fantastic. Met from Serenes called me to talk through options and was able to advise me with portions and items to ensure everyone was catered for. The food…incredible as always! I’ve eaten from Serenes many times but knowing I can count on them to deliver hot, fresh food for events is a game changer. Thank you Serenes team!

Always love a good Serene when I’m nearby!

Walked in on a Friday evening and luckily enough got a table. Staff seated us promptly, whilst being really welcoming and friendly. Ordered a regular fish and chips and a freshly squeezed orange juice. The staff member serving us was very attentive and polite. After a short wait the food arrived and the fish was lovely, battered and fried to perfection. I felt the chips were maybe *slightly* undercooked for my liking whilst also the portion was a little small (especially for a ‘regular’). The fish was a decent size, however. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and did lovely. I do feel, however, the meal is overpriced. These 2 items cost almost £20, which is a bit steep. Overall, a really nice local takeaway for your fish and chips fix. If the pricing was more attractive, I would probably visit more often. Good food nonetheless.

Best takeaway we have ever had! Delicious food. We just ordered cod & chips and a chicken burger and chips. We were very impressed. The cod was delicious so was the chips. The chicken burger wasn't a cheap type even the bun was nice we was impressed for a fish & chip shop. Sometimes my family and I get sceptical of the quality of food from places that sell a big variety of food but this places food is good. We will definitely be ordering again. They also gave a voucher for the next order to use. 5 months later.. me and my family hardly ever write reviews but this place never fails to disappoint us. We are near enough ordering food here every week now and I can constantly say it's me and my families favourite takeaway place. Their lamb and chicken shish is chunky and juicy not small and dried up. Good quality. So basically everything we have had from here is delicious!! There's no need to eat out anywhere else as their burgers are good quality, so is the kebabs and fish. Even their burger buns, wraps and pita bread is good quality and their chilli and garlic sauce is delicious. This shop has everything spot on. If they continue this way I won't be looking anywhere else! The price is also decent.

I have ordered Serenes a few time now and the quality of food is always really good, each time. The portion sizes are very generous and the fish is really nice, filling and not oily like some others. The delivery is always quick and the delivery gentleman is always very nice. Service is really good and would definitely recommend Serenes Fish and Chips and the calamari is really good too!

We got classic fish and chips (small) with side of curry sauce. And lab ribs that came on pita bread. They provide a side of sauces which are very delicious, not ur standard ketchup mayo. Definitely good quality. Recommend.
