Golden Anchor in Redbridge

This was our first order from this place and everything was very nice, except the chips! They were SOGGY and all stuck together because they SWEAT in the polystyrene box. The chips should be wrapped in paper to keep them nice. Or put into cardboard box like the fish.

ordered from here a few times now and as I work in the area every now and again and they don't disappoint, keep it up guys 👍

Before I buy I asked what is spicy what not I ordered to chicken burgers for my kids 5 years old I arrived home they was spicy and in the bin off course . two stars for your food never back .

Chicken is always full of oil and never crispy. Chips are soggy. If you sorted these issues out you’d have a great product

The wings were seriously malnourished and needed medical attention. I purchased them and opened up when i got home - dissapointed is an understatement! To be fair, the chips were ok but will not be going there again and would advise against trying it.

Not pleased at all, I would advise anyone to avoid. The shop is hardly ever busy, which says a lot really. The lady at the till over-charged me after getting my order wrong… I asked for 1 large cod and chips with 2 buttered rolls. I reached home to realise the cod is nowhere near large, and the chips seemed more like a small! The rolls were awful, one of them not even buttered and kept falling apart. I would seriously go elsewhere, you can get far better in taste and value from other local chippies. Awful awful!

Several things were not satisfactory with my order. The menu said salad with all kebabs but I got no salad. When I phoned up I got told the menu was wrong.....appalling

Such a disgusting fish and chip shop. Seriously appalled by the quality, service and food. Chips were very so hard, the curry sauce was still frozen and the mixed kebab was completely inedible. Had to take the food back because it was that bad! Definitely need to get a new cook in the place or close it down! I would give zero stars but Google forced you to give at least 1 star. Will be contacting the local council to shut this place down.

Very nasty fish and chips. Chips were very hard and stale. Also very expensive and not worth it.

I live round the corner from this place and whilst the food is good, the main guy certainly does have a strange way of dealing with customers. With some he is all smiles and very talkative and with others you just about hear the amount of money owed at the counter. His wife btw is always nice and welcoming.

Food is good but my experience is that owner discriminates .. i was told to wait while other customers were being served who came after me and a smile given to them.

First time trying this place - very impressed. Cod - crispy, fresh and decent size. Chips - fresh, and good portion size. 1/4 pounder - bang on. Nuggets and hotwings - decent. Even received a call from the restaurant to ask how I wanted the 1/4 pounder (sauce, salad etc) - great service 👍🏽 Will be ordering from here again.

An item was missed off my order. I contacted Golden Anchor and they tried contacting Just Eat who as usual were very unhelpful. I have to commend Sonia from Golden Anchor who delivered the item to us personally. It was very much appreciated. Great service!

We always get our fish and chips from here (collection) but this was the first time we got a delivery. Took time to appoint a driver but the food still came warm and was delicious.

Second time I have had fish and chips from this restaurant and it was absolutely lovely. Always used to buy from Clayhall but more than happy to buy from here now.

We had the cod and chips delivered last night. It was honestly the best fish and chip takeaway I've ever eaten. Definitely coming back for more 👍

Just spent more than £30 on our fish and chips The service was very bad, they were very unwelcoming. They didn’t give us any sauces they wanted to charge us extra for sauces. Looks like new management . I will not be coming back here.

It isn't exactly my local (10mins drive) I phone my order before I leave and it is ready when I arrive. The food is great, staff are friendly. I always go for the kebabs, the chilli and garlic sauce is excellent, with good quality meat and large portions - best kebab shop in the area!

Worst Fish&Chip shop ever! Almost any chippy shop sells ‘Curry Chips’ as standard (Curry Sauce on top of a portion of chips). I asked for it and the man looked at me like I asked him to empty the till. Anyway, I had to order a portion of chips and curry sauce on its own. I was shocked when I saw him take a cup of FROZEN curry sauce out of the freezer and put it into the microwave. Not only that, for only 30 seconds. I then opened the cup to pour over my chips and it came out like a blob of jelly. Both him and the lady insisted that this is what curry sauce is supposed to be like lol. I insisted I wanted my money back and I got that back and left. Avoid.

Обслуживания нет, надо заказывать еду у барной стойки и официант принесёт поднос , позаботиться о приборах , салфетках и набора специй так же придётся самому, запах стоит удручающий.

I went recently to pick some fish & chips to go. The owners are super friendly and very fast. The fish is very good and the chips are perfectly shaped and they don't smash like in many other venue. The quantity is larger than in many other spots and the price is the most reasonable ever. Love it!

Have been a few times to this new chip shop Chips r ok when I asked for a large cod he said ok I'm just cooking fresh chips & fish so I waited & when it was ready he then placed a smal piece of cod in paper which was already sitting in the glass counter I then said to him I wanted a large cod Yes he said this is large I was not happy about that as I knew it was got a steak & kidney pie as well & it cost £10.50 when I got home no way was the fish a large 1 expensive for what it was I shall not be buying fish from this chip shop again !!! He just couldn't be bothered to cook me fresh large cod !!!
