Normally I have a very good experience with Clayhall Fish bar however today I was served 3 stale, old cod fish which obviously had been cooked hours ago. I advise customers to request the fish to be freshly made to avoid this happening to them.

A friend recommended Clayhall Fish Bar after expressing our dissatisfaction with our usual place that sadly went downhill. We were not disappointed. Quality cod, freshly fried in great batter and enormous portion sizes of perfect chunky chips. Gherkins, pickled onions, and the occasional curry sauce for our lad. Tried their homemade chili sauce today and I am now addicted. The staff are welcoming and friendly and we always have a natter with them whilst waiting. A special mention of Frae, the lady who always looks after us. We’ve been going regularly for a couple of years now even though it’s further for us to travel. Nothing more to say other than give them a try. You won’t be sorry.

Got an order delivered but not what we ordered. Called to let them know and was treated disgustingly, like it was our fault. As regular customers it was totally awful service. I wouldn't recommend.

Visited Clayhall Fish and Chips after I was recommended by my neighbour, it was absolutely phenomenal. The slightly spicy cod was exquisite, the lovely lady there was ever so sweet and gave me a large container of their homemade chilli on the house. It’ll be my new regular place from now. Thank you again!

Clayhall Fish Bar in my opinion is the best fish & chip shop in Redbridge, London and wider Essex areas. The food is always cooked well, always fresh and of very high quality! Server Fran and Raj are always welcoming, friendly and smiley. Owner Fred supported by Bal, Chris and Hassan are brilliant cooks and fryers! Clayhall Fish Bar has been my go to take-away restaurant for over 20 years! I highly recommend this Fish restaurant!

My husband picked up some fish and chips a few days ago and we’ve not stopped talking about it since! Everything was extremely fresh but my favourite dish was the masala fish which came with their homemade chilli sauce, it was succulent! This place will be our regular from now on. Thank you to all the staff and their recommendations, service and food was a lovely.

Staff are quick and in a bit of a rush but as expected as was super busy. Have been going here for a few years. Good fish and chips shop. Always satisfied when getting a takeaway from here

I don’t know what’s happened to this place new owners ?? But I just collected wings and chicken and chips it was horrendous 🤮it clearly had been sitting far to long The chicken wings had a funky taste so I binned the lot

Cute little take away from a lovely family where the food and service is amazing. Massive portions very reasonable prices and quality food. Make sure to try their spicy cod,(yes spicy cod, i didnt know as well but these guys have done it its simply amazing) Keep up the good work guys and will definetly be back with family.

I've been coming here since I was a kid! Every time I'm back in London, this is a must go-to place. The owner is awesome, and fish is always fresh and amazing! If you're in the area, hands down the best fish and chips in town--definitely mark this place down!

Chai is very expensive for how much it should be.

I remember I had food the other day and you put too much oil plus you are too expensive and tasteless and well nearly made me sick. You do not deserve my business I will not come back here ever in my life!

Ordered a meal from here on just eat. I messed up the order and the manager was kind enough to phone me himself, and sort it out. THEN the just eat dude forgot the chips with the order and the manager came out himself and delivered them in under 15 minutes. Fabulous, friendly customer service and the food was delicious as always!

We had masala cod and chips and it was good. Nice and clean place.

Sadly they use delivery Just eat which is a service I will never use again. I ordered my food at 18:45 and my food never arrived. I called the fish and chip shop but really there is not much they can do. I would say it's safer to go to the chip shop next time. I like to add that I have eaten fish and chips from there and it is nice.

Good place but I think there needs to be a change in fish an chips shop tradition, ketchup and mayo sauce should be free to put on the food, no need to buy these little tub of ketchup,

The best fish and chips bar none for miles around. We have never had bad food or service here and my family and I have used this place from the days it first opened.

Freshly cooked Fish & Chips, can get busy at times, woman serving behind counter could do with improving her customer serving skills, as she came across as very abrupt.

One of the best chip shops around and there are not many in East London I haven't eaten from over the years driving here there and everywhere for work. Consistently high quality food and friendly staff. I go out of my way to go here, try it, you won't regret it.

Clayhall fish bar - 11 Jan 2023 at 5 pm. If you are not a regular you don’t get the same treatment as others. I walked in and at the same time, a white man who seems regular also walked into this Place. He was served by a white mid age lady but when it is my turn the lady asked me to wait as she is busy attending to another white guy already waiting at the table before we both walked in. Why would she serve the guy who walked in at the same time I did if she had already a customer waiting for her? They treat customers individually which made me upset. I walked out without giving them my order as I am not going to give my money to them. It was a bitter experience. Double standard !!

Masala cod bites! Favourite fish bar in the world!

Fresh fish chips my friends had meat pie and said it was good. Their meal deals are exceptionally good value £6.50 but the food is great and you get a drink too.

Friendly staff. Fresh food. Portions of cod are generous, tasty and worth the price. Delivery service is quick and efficient; I get take out and delivery.

Another fish shop that double frys his fish when no one is looking or its a new customer , my family been going here on and off for years till we realised the consistency lacks in the quality of fish this fella uses, also his customer skills are terrible your not welcomed unless you are a regular and unfortunately we are switching the switch off on our customs in a lackluster place that is clayhall fish bar.

Was recommended by my B.I.L and he certainly was not wrong. OMG first impressions are on a friday night how busy this place is. All food is being cooked fresh due to them being so busy. The masala cod bites are a firm favourite seeing we are Indian and highly recommended. Food is always hot, fresh and tastes good. We highly recommend Clayhall Fish Bar and the Mrs rates the masala fish 11/ 10 :) Well done a pleasure to see you guys so busy and well deserved.

Really nice friendly staff, will cook from fresh if not in the heater. May take a bit longer but worth the wait. Lots of different items on the menu. Fish tasty. Will definitely use again.

Very rude and not accomodating for a halal and vegetarian diet. My husband phoned up to ask if the food was fried separately to avoid cross contamination and wanted to know if the pork is fried separately to the fish and chips to which they replied "sorry" and closed the phone on him.

Queued up outside on a Friday night. Not sure how I missed such a popular local chippy before. It was worth the wait. I ordered an extra large portion of fish and chips, sausage in batter and a savaloy. The portions were generous and more than enough for the two of us. The batter was light and crispy. Even though it took us about 10mins to get home everything was fresh and not soggy. Best chippy in the area. Yummy.

Absolutely delighted, the xl cod is truly massive and cooked excellently. Curry sauce was surprisingly good, looked like it was made with ghee and was truly thick, I'm only writing this review cause I'm so impressed by it. We live near Broadway Fish House and we will not be going back there. Absolute converts to clayhall!

Best fish and chips in the local area of Woodford and surrounding areas. I live a little further out but still travel here to get my fish fix! Fish batter is crispy, fish is flakey not soggy and the chips are done just right too. Nice range on the menu; especially masala fish, nuggets and wings.

Great Fish and Chips shop and friendly welcoming staff.. Great Burgers, Fish, Savaloys, and Sausage in batters! Recommended!
